      Great Place

At lunch I like to go somewhere for a nice drink or somewhere to get good food at a good price. Where I have been going to lately is a little place called Santa Fe which is situated in the Mailbox in Birmingham. What I have found is that Santa Fe offers a great service at good prices and always makes sure you have a nice time while you are there. I have started to visit a couple of times a week now as I think when you have been once that you do want to visit again and again.

      -----

      What is Santa Fe?

Santa Fe is a Mexican restaurant which offers great food and drink in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. They also make sure that you will have no qualms at all about price as it is very reasonable and all of the staff seems to have fun working there.

      Where is Santa Fe?

      178 – 180 Wharfside Street,
      The Mailbox,
      Birmingham,
      B1 1RN.

It is easy to find Santa Fe as when you are in Birmingham city centre then all you have to do is walk towards the Mailbox which is sign posted. If you cannot find it then simply ask anybody and they will point you in the right direction.

      -----

      Location:

Santa Fe is in a fantastic location, right in the heart of the Mailbox which is a modern, stylish and funky place to be in Birmingham right now. It is situated at the back of the Mailbox by all of the restaurants and it is up some stairs. Because it is right at the top it means that you can view a lot of Birmingham and this is especially nice at Christmas with all of the lights around.

With regards to the city centre it is a fifteen minute walk away from the Bull ring and only ten minutes from rail and bus routes so you should have no problems getting there or getting home which is what I always worry about when I go out.

      -----

      Parking:

Parking is not great as the Mailbox is quite expensive but there is lots of parking in the city centre and because it is only a ten minute walk away you will be fine. I find that public transport is perhaps a better way of travelling there though.

      -----

      Outside Appearance:

From the outside Santa Fe looks very funky with huge glass windows and shutters at one side which opens in the summer to let warmth and light into the bar area. The sign is large and colourful so you cannot miss it and because the canal is near and other bars and restaurants from the outside you can see it is a very nice area with some great views. There are also tables outside which is lovely when the weather is good.

      -----

      Inside Appearance:

What will strike you is how colourful everywhere is. The seats are nice and bright and there are cool decorations all over the walls which make the place seem very cosy. As you walk in you will see the bar to your right which is big and well stocked and because they specialise in a lot of drinks you will find the staff are quite fun at the bar.

Then there are seats in the bar but as you walk in to the left is where the main restaurant is which is huge and there are loads of tables. Everywhere just looks fun in here and I think you will agree that when you walk in you can tell the place has a good lively atmosphere.

      -----

      Drinks:

The drinks are ok at around £3.50 for a large glass of wine and £2.50 for a J20 equivalent. The drinks selection they have is huge and you will find that if you ask the staff for something if they haven’t got it they will make you something up in a cocktail style which is fun. They serve anything I cant think of so far but I do have fun challenging them and I will get them one day to stumble but not yet.

      -----

      Food:

Now food wise they have a great selection and for main meals you can choose from burgers or lasagne or pasta dishes and you are guaranteed to have them with a difference. I am not joking that everything has a particular flavour that you will not have tasted elsewhere. This is right down to the chips which have a spice to them which I love but you can ask the staff there and they will tell you all the spices and flavours involved.

Main meals can be from £5 – 13 each but if you go at lunch there are usually specials which are £6 for a meal and a drink and you choose from the lunch menu which has about seven dishes on there. The plates are quite big so you will not be leaving hungry. You can order standard starters at about £3.50 each and puddings are just over £4 each which is not bad at all for how much you are given.

      -----

      Verdict:

I think Santa Fe is just a bit of fun and what I like about it is that it has such a funky atmosphere that you cannot help but have a good time when you arrive there. I have been in there to just have a drink and also to have lunch and also to have an evening meal and have enjoyed it every time. I also like it that all of the staff are friendly and have a bit of fun while they work which is how it should be.

If you are in the area then visit as it is lovely and the food is delicious. You will not be disappointed.

      Thanks for reading.
