The problem with London and the UK in general is our draconian licensing laws. It is one of the few civilised countries where it becomes very difficult to get a drink after the 11 o'clock watershed. Hopefully our new mayor Ken will sort this problem out but in the meantime Point 101 is a gem that bucks the trend. The bar is the bottom 2 floors of the Centre Point building, which is very useful because no matter how drunk you are you can see this building from almost anywhere in London! It is one of the very few bars which will let you in after 11 without having to pay, there is often a queue but this usually moves very quickly and the staff are not hitleresque like most door people in London (although they don't like jeans, trainers or people who can't stand up!) There is a live DJ over the weekend playing great soul, funk and groove, the kind of music you can get on down to (James Brown is a big favourite here) Best of all, unlike other free after 11 bars they don't charge exorbitant prices at the bar. The drinks prices don't change after 11 and remain in line with most west end pubs and bars. The crowd is young and fun, this is a great place to end up when everywhere else is closed.
