With a mere two years between my children it was deemed necessary to buy a double pushchair, I wanted a urban detour one however on a trip to boots they had the Twin techno on clearance at £84.00 and as this was fairly similar to the price second hand ones were fetching it was too good a purchase to miss.

      Cost and stockist
I paid as mentioned £84.00 for this stroller however the full price of this is £280.00 you can get the stroller from most major baby retailers the price and offers vary so shop around as Boots for example currently offer triple points.

      Why Buy
I purchased this stroller as it was easy to put up whilst balancing a child, it could fit through shop doorways, and you could independently work each seat so baby could be lying flat, whilst the two year old sat up it was also not as bulky as many other models and I could get into the boot of my little fiesta and still get shopping in as well.

      Extras
The Stroller came with cosy toes, head hugger, rain cover, as well as cup holders!
I was impressed with the fact it included a head hugger which did make my baby more comfortable.

      Negatives
I found that although I could easily manage to put this pushchair up one handed and it was fairly light having had a caesarean birth I could not lift the pushchair out of the car as it was too heavy, I also only used this for the first 6 months frequently and then rarely after that as eldest preferred to walk as she wasn't a baby!

      Recommendation
I think that this is a good buggy and the price I paid for it was excellent, it is easy to push, and you can lock the wheels the 5 point harness was impossible for my little escape artist to wriggle out of! The ability to manoeuvre the seats independently was great and the seats had four different adjustments which was also a good feature. I was also impressed by the good storage.

My only word of warning would be if like me this is for two different age children and the eldest is walking it may not be a great financial purchase as pretty soon after buying my eldest refused to go in unless she was tired and so we bought a buggy board instead. I do think for twins that this would be a great double pushchair especially if you are urban based.

      Technical specifications
      Handle Height 111cm
      Folded 114cm x44 x46 cm
      Weight is 12.4kg

Sturdy buggy, but not great for everyday use

I had a teckno xt for my son and absolutely loved it. When I had my second son and my eldest was only 13 months old I needed a double. Due to my perhaps biased view of the teckno xt I considered no other double. I was however diappointed, whilst this can fit easily in doors around shopping ailse it can be heavy and unwieldy. The handles are a little to far apart for me to push confortably for long distances and as I don't drive this was a must.
Any one who already has children will know it is occassionally necessary to push the buggy one handed. This is impossible on this buggy as it will start going round in circles. Was also disappointed that the visor doesn't unzip to come lower like it does on the XT. Also wieghs a ton to pick up a curb.
On the whole probable fab with 2 newborns and someone that wants a sturdy buggy that will last years. But not ideal for someone with different aged children who needs it all the time.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

a brilliant buy to help you get your little ones around.

When I discovered I was pregnant with a second child, this buggy was my first choice before doing investigation into different buggy types, and ended up being the one I purchased and used.

I love the Mclaren range for its lightness, easiness to push, and the simple collapsing mechanism. Also, as a small car driver, it folds much smaller than other models. Overall, when collapsed, this model is not much wider than the single model.

My children had a gap of 18 months between them, so I wanted something that would be suitable from birth for the baby, but also suitable for the toddler. I found this ideal. It came complete with head huggers for both children, and foot muffs. Also a rain cover. I found this harder to get on quickly than with a single buggy.

      The advantages are:
      - it will fully recline so suitable from birth.
      - both babies get a view as you walk along unlike the buggies where one child is forced to almost sit on the floor underneath the other child.
      - It folds really small, and has a carry handle for ease of moving it around.
      - the harnesses are all adjustable as the baby gets bigger.
      - It is easy to manoeuvre while walking around.
      - The double basket held quite a lot of stuff when we went shopping.

The disadvantages we found with this buggy were:
      - the handles were quite far apart, which made steering more difficult when the weight load increased as the children grew, and also it was hard to put the nappy bag there when walking. It could have done with a 3rd handle really.
      - The buggy was too wide to go through certain checkouts at our local supermarket, which was embarassing when I got it stuck.
      - The seats were a little bit too narrow for a large 2-3 year old wearing winter clothes.
      - When my boys were both toddlers, I found it really difficult to get it back up curbs unless they were totally flat. On one occasion my eldest child fell out as it stopped abruptly and he had not been strapped in.
      - My small car (Skoda Fabia) was really too small to fit the buggy in if we wanted to go anywhere and also fit anything else in the boot.

In spite of the disadvantages, I loved this buggy. I would have no hesitation buying another one. I would have got a lot more use out of it if my boys hadn't been such bruisers. Pushing 5 stone of weight in it would be tricky in any model. I tell all my pregnant friends and family members that McClaren is a brand to trust.

        Disadvantages

lovely buggy wish our door was bigger so I could have kept it longer

The Maclaren Twin Techno is yet another buggy that I have owned over the last few years. This could is the best quality of the doubles I have owned.

I had a black buggy on a black frame, it was very stylish and easy to use. It is very quick and easy to set up.

The 2 seats recline independantly so you can have one child sat up and one laying down with no problems.

The baskets underneath are not the largest but no double buggy will ever have a huge basket.

It is very easy to push around and even passed the curb test for me - The curb test is something all double buggys need to pass in my opinion. The curb test is basically - can you get the buggy off the road and up a curb with ease and quickly - so many double buggys have failed this more me (including the cosatto duet lite and the icandy pear)
When you live in a little town where the part of the road that is supposedly the low part that you are supposed to cross at then this is important.

My only fault for this buggy is that when we moved house the house we moved to had a narrow door and we could no longer fit it through the door so I had to set it up out side the door and take it back down before we went back in the house - very annoying and the reason why I moved on to another buggy

One other thing i liked about the buggy is that you can buy comfort packs in a large variety of colours and styles. The comfort packs contain the shoulder strap coverers that prevent the straps from digging in and a padded comfort piece for behind baby/ toddlers head!
All in all a great buggy but it might be an idea to measure your front door to see if it will fit through - it was even a tight squeeze at our old house

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

I would recommend this double buggy to anyone

As a childminder I have tried and tested lots of single, double and triple buggys and I must say that the Maclaren twin techno is the best side by side double buggy I have bought.

It is very light weight for a double and it fits through doors very easy. The buggy has separate hoods with UV protective viewing windows. Both seats recline separately which is great for when one of the children falls asleep whilst your out. the front wheels can be locked or can swivel (I find it easier on the swivel wheels)

The buggy has two shopping baskets but they are quite small and when the seats are reclined you cant get to the baskets, I dont really find this a problem but some people might.

When the buggy is folded up its just a bit bigger than a single buggy and it fits in the car with no problems at all. This buggy comes in lots of different colours mine is navy blue and light blue.

As well as being one of the best double buggys Ive bought it has been one of the cheapest at only around £175.

I would recommend this buggy to anyone with children of different ages and of the same age.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Great for a younger and older sibling as separate reclining seats

Whilst expecting my second child I did a lot of searching for a double pushchair and I finally settled on a trusty maclaren as I felt it would fulfill my needs of - being lightweight for ease of carrying, fitting into my car, and being sturdy and safe for my children. The maclaren twin techno is all these things. I find that it is lighter than a lot of other models on the market which makes lifting it into and out of the car so much easier. It easily fits into the boot of my ford focus without a hassle, whilst two wailing children are not waiting patiently for me to get a hurry on and start the car. It is reclinable and I felt assured of the comfort for my newborn son as well as his elder sibling. The cosy toes are extremely easy to attach and the umbrella folding system works as well with cosy toes attached as without.

The size is such that it does fot through doorways easily and although there are some stores where I have foud it tight for space this generally is the minority. I mainly use this for shopping trips and it fulfills this duty nicely.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Ok as a holiday buggy but I wouldn't use it full time.

I got this as a holiday buggy so my better double wouldn't get damaged on the plane. It took a while to get used to after the Phil and Teds. My children were 20 months and 4 months and the weight difference made it a bit award to steer through the airport with one hand (when I was trying to carry a food tray as well!)
The handles are quite far apart and it feels rather "heavy" when you're pushing it. I like that both seats recline, and the head huggers and foot muffs are good quality. The holds are a decent size and have an added rain cover built in, though in a heavier rain you'd need the main cover. I was so pleased with this as it's small but completely covers the children but doesn't take up your whole shopping basket when not in use.
There are useful pockets on the back of the hoods, though I found the excess material in the way sometimes. The shopping baskets are narrow like the seats, but fit a decent amount when needed.

I found the seats rather narrow, and I have skinny children, but this is understandable as with a side by side buggy you want it to be as narrow as possible. Despite this it doesn't fit through my front door. Easy to fold and heavy but managable for getting in and out of the car.

loved this pushchair it was very light and easy to use as well as fitting through every doorway I went through.Only problem I had was that my son who weighed 16 kilos at 2 years old made it very awkward to push when I had a newborn in the other side!! In the end I opted for a phil and teds and love it.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            overall a fab double pram

            MACLAREN TWIN TECHNO ---

Great pram for those shopping trips fits through most standard door ways as its only 76cm wide.
Its a realy good puschair and it comes in a variety of colours and designs, it has two seperare hoods so one can be down and the other can still be up whichis great. Also unlike some double prams you also get the two footmuffs with this and the raincover so you dont need to go buying all the extras!
I found it realy light aswell compared to some doubles i have had its easy to get round town with and fits on the buses aswell which is a bonus as i use them a lot!

            BEST FEATURES ---

Its suitable from birth so you can seat two new borns, two toddlers or one newborn and one toddler.
Its light weight and easy to fold down!
It has two nice sized shopping baskets
And of course the Maclaren prams are known for being one of the best around there very sturdy and last a very long time.

            BAD FEATURES ---

I havent actually found many with this pram the only one i found is that the raincovers arent seperate and the brake is easily broken at the back but other than that its great.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              overall an excellant double buggy

i use this buggy for long trips to town and days out plus short trips to collect my eldest child from play school. My 3 year old toddler who usually doesn't like getting in a buggy will happily sit in this double. My newborn (6 weeks) looks comfy and snug with the cosytoes wrapped around him.
I find it is a bit heavy and awkward to unfold/fold up when you first use it. It says it can be unfolded one handed, i personally have to use both. Its light, easy to push, small when folded, it fits easily in my car boot and thought my front door! The kids look comfortable, safe and happy in it.
In my opinion the only down side to this buggy is that the seats are rather hard to recline, and that when the seats are reclined the baskets are impossible to access. There have only been one or two doorways that i've had trouble getting through but i blame that on the doors!

              Disadvantages

i have tried many twins and this is the best by far, wasent really a stroller type fan until i loaned my friends and relised it was evereything i needed, the seat is perfect for newborns as the footrest pulls out to make the seat flat to support their legs, the raincover is of great quality and cant be kicked off or ripped by a "tantruming" toddler! nice to look at and unlike my twin aria gets through doors without hassle yet still has enough room for the kidz. the hoods come out further than most and it has an extension on the hood that block out even more of the sun and is allso waterproof, when your baby is in it you feel like they are warm and comfy (which makes a happy mum)1 con (very long when folded and just fits into my megane scenic)

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

A definite must have for anyone with 2 children of any age!

Take it from me as a mum of two young lively boys, this is everything you need in a twin pushchair.
This pushchair can be used from birth. I bought it when my second son was born and my oldest was 16 months. It folds like an umberella so is less bulky to store and fits in the smallest of boot spaces. Both seats are fully reclinable which is great for when the little ones need a well deserved nap! Because the seats are side by side as opposed to one in the front and one in behind it is easier on your back and less strain and it fits perfectly through department store doors, even nicer when someone actually holds the door open for you!
It has two roomy storage baskets underneath, two cup holders - very handy and the rain hoods are great, plus it comes with a rain cover which is very easy to fit unlike most.
              I wouldn't be without mine.
