I was bought this MP3 player for christmas as I like to download music from the net to listen too whilst im out working and this was one of my presents, which although it's quite a basic MP3 player it suits me fine as it stores around 400 songs and is small enough for me to carry around in my bag, so that I can listen to music when ever I want.
It came with headphones and has a good display window, it is a plug and play device and has a slide out USB connection, this is great as I'm terrible when I get a new gadget as I tend to lose the leads if they have them. They cost money to replace and sometimes they are really hard to find as I found out one time when trying to get a new lead for my sony digital camera a few years ago. With this USB connect that problem is gone.
You can plug it in to charge it up on your computer and can download music from your computer onto it as it is the simple drag and drop method which I'm sure everyone is familliar with.
The casing is sturdy and it is made from thin aluminium metal so it doesn't scratch easily or scuff up as quickly as plastic. They come in pink or black so the colour choice is limited, but for me this isn't a problem as I like black.
It retails from around £29 upwards depending on where you buy it from and is thin, sleek and durable.
I like the style of it as it doesn't have lots of buttons to navigate and get used to, it has a slide control for volume and has a button on the front which is a four way button for scrolling through the music to chose what you want to listen too and volume . Scrolling through your music list can take a while but I don't mind.
The sound quality is quite good but a little tinny if you wap it up loud but on a fair level of volume it sounds quite good with the base and treble at a decent sound for the price you pay.
It is a bog standard player and if your looking for something high tech then this isn't for you, but for me I'm happy with it as it's easy to use stores enough of my music and lists it by ablum or artist and can be charged up on my computer.
I'm happy with it.
I've had this little MP3 gadget for about 6 months. I didn't really need 1 to be honest, but I wanted something that was a bit cheaper to use when I was out on my bike as I didn't want to be riding about with my iphone clipped onto me as I would die if I broke it (still never got round to taking out insurance on it!). So something that seemed durable and cheaper was what I was looking for and I chose this after reading about this on Amazon.
I only paid £32 for this and postage was included in that price. There isn't many features on this, but it does what I want it to do. This has 2GB storage, so depending on song lenght and quality you can probably possibily have upwards of 400 songs on this. I've got 223 on it and still have room for more anyway.
I thought that this may look a bit cheap and nasty, and the kind of black plastic that goes a bit shiny if it's been used and pressed a bit, but after I actually got this then I realised that it's not quite the cheap plastic that I thought it would be.
To look at this in the picture it maybe looks quite large, but this is small enough and slimline, so this fits into my pocket alright and sits down deep in my pocket without pulling at the Headphone socket.
Sound wise this sounds good. The base and loudness is good enough on this and I admit this sounds best when used with the Samsung Headphone.
There is not many buttons on here. There is just the play/pause button on the front, the volume buttons which is on the side of the unit and an up and down button as well for selecting your song.
Yes it can take a bit time to trawl through your songs, but it's like that with any non touch screen device like this.
Just plug this into your PC/Laptop, load the songs up and that is it. Easy to use.
Battery life is alright. Pretty average but I can't really state how long this will last since I only use this now and again.
This is a good little MP3 player from a good brand name and the price is alright thesedays as well.
I wanted an MP3 player with basic features, without paying the mad prices of the Apple brand. Samsung is a name and brand I trust, so I went for the Samsung YP-U6. It comes in a choice of black or metallic pink, I opted for the pink. I was slightly worried it would be a garish neon colour - but it is a lovely softly metallic deep pink and not at all embarassing to carry around. It is small and light with a 1 inch by half an inch display which is surprisingly clear and easy to read. It comes with a pair of white samsung headphones which have excellent sound quality and are a joy to use. It has one large button for pause/play with a square button around the edge for left/right - choosing songs and up/down - volume control. There is an on/off button on top which also locks the MP3 player which is a very useful feature if you like to tuck it in your pocket while you listen to music. Next to the on/off button is a back button, and a button which encompasses many features such as recording, changing the play mode, changing the sound mode, adding songs to a playlist and deleting files. You have to go into settings to edit what the button does, and I found this quite confusing to figure out at first. The instructions that originally come with the MP3 player are pretty much non existant - they tell you how to turn it on and plug it in and the rest of the manual is inside the MP3 player - all good and well if you can find your way around a PC but unfortunately I can't and it took me a while to find. It also has an FM radio feature which is okay, the quality isn't excellent but the same as any other FM radio player. Another feature I really like is the fitness feature, it's very basic but fun to use. You input your weight once and it remembers. Then you choose a basic excersise activity such as slow walking, fast walking, running, etc and choose to listen to your own songs or the radio, and press go. Tuck it in your pocket and get on with your activity and at the end it estimates how many calories you have burned. It makes going for a walk or run whilst juggling MP3 players/pedometers/timers a lot easier. The battery life is very good, and very easy to charge. The MP3 player doesn't come with a USB cable, instead, the USB stick is inside the MP3 pllayer and you slide it out and plug it in. I found this to be a very worthwhile feature as I'm constantly losing cables. The software which comes with it is Samsung Kies and has lots of features such as a music organiser and music player. You use a very simple drag and drop method to put the songs from your computer onto the MP3 player. You can also organsie them into your own folders. The version I bought advertises as 4GB but is in fact 3.6GB, I don't know if this is standard practice for MP3 players but I found it quite disappointing. Overall it's a very good MP3 player especially as a starter or for someone who isn't fussed about having too many fancy features. Worth the price.
The YP-U6 is a simplistic music player that you can pick up for the very respectable price of £30. The sound quality matches that of more expensive players such as the i-pod. The main reason picked this player up was due to it offering an FM Radio feature that i use while out and about, the radio has a good signal and still exceptional quality by any standards.
With its 2GB memory the YP-U6 can hold most of your music collection, with enough room to spare for extras. I personally find that any size over around 2GB is a waste, as i do not believe that I personally could sit through that much music in one go.
The connection for headphones is the standard 3.5mm jack, this means that nearly all headphones out there can be used with it.
Yes the YP-U6 connects via a slide out USB connection, with a quite impressive transfer rate, making this very handy if you need to quickly add songs as you rush off to work.
So overall this MP3 player is great value and a good way to avoid falling into the apple trap, happy buying
(sorry for the hasty review, dinner is on lol )
If you have read my reviews in the past you may have come across the one I did on the Samsung YP-P2 2GB version. I am very much into Samsung as a brand and not just because I trust their technology. Yes, their products have great features and offer the latest technology at the best prices, for me though it has to be the looks that do it for me. Samsung have some of the sleekest looking gadgets out there, DVD players, mp3 players, CD players, TV;s - you name it, they do a sexy version of it!
Following up my Samsung YP-P2 is the very capable Samsung YP-U6 with a 4GB storage capacity. If you have seen previous MP3 players from Samsung this one very much carries the same design features. The rounded edges, yet again that sleek and sexy black finish and overall this MP3 player is aesthetically beautiful to look at. Priced at around £30-40 the Samsung YP-U6 is competitively priced in comparison to the Apple models it competes with.
As with most MP3 players this one can effectively double up as a storage device as you can connect it easily to your laptop or PC and play MP3 files direct through your desired workstation. The YP-U6 has a number of interesting features. An FM Tuner may come as standard on most MP3 players, but a voice recorder certainly doesn't! The voice recorder is simple to operate and files can be transferred as simply as a music file can. Samsung claim 20 hours of battery life, which is always taken with a pinch of salt as a rule, but I wouldn't argue if they had said 12-15 hours. A stopwatch is another feature that isn't normally seen on such a device - not one this small anyway. This comes under the 'Fitness Mode' as does the calorie counter and vocal alerts which aid you with getting into shape!
The YP-U6 supports MP3, OGG, WMA and FLAC file formats and has the standard 3.5mm audio output jack. Weighing in at around the 37gram mark it is very compact indeed, and the dimensions are around 87mm x 27mm x 12mm. The only downside for me would be the screen. As I am used to the generous touchscreen of my previous player I don't appreciate the 1" CSTN display at 128x64 pixels. At this price, though, can you really argue that the samsung YP-U6 isn't upto the job of satisfying your needs on the go?
The recent spread of iPhone, Android phone and other smart phones has dampened the popularity of mp3 players. However, many still prefer portable mp3 players over bulky smart phones when it comes to listening to music. The same for me. This is especially more so when I go out for a walk or jogging. Then, the smart phones feel quite heavy and big. While searching for an affordable mp3 to listen to music, I came across U6 from Samsung and bought it.
The biggest strength of U6 is its petite size - the length of a finger. It's so slim and light (only 34g) that I can hang it around my neck without feeling the weight. Also, the body made of aluminum is very sturdy yet classy. The embedded USB port eliminates the trouble of having to connect to a separate data cable. The USB port is a sliding type, which is different from the typical cap type.
With U6, if you press the user button while the music is playing, you can use the function that you set up at 'Setting->User Button'. This is a button that allows the users to define a function that they use the most frequently. You can select among Study Mode, SoundAlive, Play Speed and Play Mode. Also, if you press the user button for long, the voice recording function is turned on. (If you press the button while listening to the FM radio, the radio, not your voice, is recorded.) Its performance is good enough that you can use it as a voice recorder.
With SoundAlive, the 3D surround stereo delivers a much more dynamic sound. You can set eight different modes including Concert Hall, Big Bass and Vocal, thus giving a totally different feel to the same music.
One of the unique functions of U6 is the fitness mode that helps the users to exercise. Before using the fitness mode, if you input your accurate weight and select among the types of exercise such as walking, running or yoga, the player calculates the calories consumed and time lapse.
I bought the product without expecting that much (being a low-end product), but it surely has strong value for money. Maximum portability, sophisticated design, high quality sound and convenience all combined in one mp3 player. I strongly recommend U6 to anyone looking for these features. The excellent quality ensures the best music experience.
