      Disadvantages

      very good media device

      -When I bought the product-

Around late December 2010 I decided I was going to buy myself an MP3 player, having previously owned an Ipod Nano I decided that I would buy myself an Ipod Touch.

The reason I wanted an Ipod was so that I could watch videos on it while travelling and also listen to music.

      -Features-

The Ipod Touch (4th Generation) is available with internal storage sizes of 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, I own the 32GB version which I believe at the time cost me about £200 - £220.

The 32GB version of the Ipod Touch has plenty of storage for me to store my music and videos on, as the Ipod only supports certain formats of video so I had to convert my videos into the MP4 file format, I could also reduce the quality a little bit to make the files smaller and to fit more on the Ipod.

The touch screen is also very responsive and excellent for typing and playing games, although I find the buttons can be a bit small if you're fast at typing.

Wi-Fi is also built in which can be really handy for when you are travelling and find a Wi-Fi hotspot, Safari is included as the default web browser which is okay for me but doesn't have flash support so various websites may appear without pictures and videos.

A music player comes pre installed on the Ipod and allows you to play all the music you may have stored on the device, it also allows you to view music by artist, album, song name so that you can easily find the song your looking for, shuffle is supported so that you can listen to your music and not have any idea which song will be playing next, you can also repeat a specific song if you really like it.

A video play is also pre installed and allows you to play your videos in a similar manner to the music player, like the music play it allows you to view videos in

Games and apps can also be downloaded and installed on the Ipod, apps can also be sorted into folders to make them easier to find, there is also a Game Centre included to allow you to access high scores to games you may be playing, I believe you can also add people as friends so that you can compare your scores to theirs.

Apple's app store is also built into the Ipod to allow you to download apps, some of which are free and others cost between 69p and £3 (I'm not sure on the exact price ranges), you can also search for a specific app if you already know what you are looking for.

The front facing camera on the Ipod Touch is only 0.3MP (Mega Pixels), the rear facing camera is only 0.7MP so I don't usually take a lot of pictures on it, the video camera allows you to record videos in resolutions up to 720p (or a resolution of 1280x720p), I've only recorded a couple of videos but anything I've recorded has been of excellent quality.

      -Limitations/Disadvantages-

The battery is built into the Ipod so would be very difficult to replace and would be expensive to have it fitted by a professional due to the time it would take for them to take the Ipod apart.

As the Ipod includes the standard USB dock connector port the only cable that can be plugged in is the cable that comes with the Ipod, if this cable is lost or damaged a replacement would need to be ordered before files can be transferred.

The screen can also be easily damaged and is very difficult to replace and would be expensive to have a professional replace it (my friend was quoted £50 to have a screen replaced on his Ipod of the same model).

Itunes is the only way of transferring music, videos and photos to the Ipod as the files are re organized in a special database structure, I've also found that Itunes automatically synchronizes files unless
      switched off.

The price of an Ipod touch can vary depending on the internal storage size (mine cost roughly £200) so can be expensive, and if it stops working it would cost more money to have it repaired.

      -Overall Rating-

I have owned this Ipod for just over two years and has been well worth the money I paid for it at the time, although I don't use it as much I like to use it to listen to music occasionally, I would highly recommend anyone that is looking for a device like this to buy one of these (I believe the newer models are cheaper than £200), overall this has been a very useful device and give it a 4/5 rating.

        Disadvantages

Great Device with too many features if anything!

In short an Ipod touch is akin to owning an Iphone but just not being able to call and text people, basically. Before owning a touch I have always had an ipod in different forms whether that was the mini, the touch or the classic (I have been through the ranges). The touch, in comparison, boasts many features that you probably will never use or need, but worthwhile to have if you will.

        Advantages:

The touch allows easy, smooth operation around all your music, photos, videos, browsing the internet or playing games. You will never get bored with one of these devices.

It boasts an array of features - internet, email, games, tv shows, films, music, notes - more than one will every need probably, almost a personal computer in your pocket.

I find the device apt for watching films as it is for listening to your favourite song.

In terms of reliability - the device has never let me down - I have owned a touch now for 2 or 3 years and not once has it missed a beat through the long hours of listening I have put it through travelling.

        Overall, great device.

If i had to give the queen a birthday present this would be it!

With this product i simply dont know where to begin. it is undoubtedly basically perfection as far a media and entertainment product goes.
it is innovative in design and features, with the inclusion of the app market to either download free samples or buy full verions of travel, music, video, entertainment, games books... you name it there is almost certainly an app designed for it to help you out in whateverway possible.
the 32 gb edition has enough memory to store large quantities of music videos and pictures as well as any apps and games you download. there is the fact it has a customisable layout, incredibly sensitive, runs of wifi for the safari browser to use the internet, it has an amazing quality display and is incredibly responsive. i have never once had a problem or a fault with my own, the only problem is you become obsessed. you want to keep it pristene and make sure that it is well looked after.
great product, great value for money, i dont think it could be topped for what it is. is small lightweight and looks great too. i couldnt find a flaw, so im challenging you to.

          • Reliability

          Disadvantages

          Excellent mp3 and mp4 player.

I did have an ipod nano (4th gen) but I was frustrated by the small screen for watching videos. I decided to get the 32GB iPod Touch as 8GB just seemed too small, and the 64GB too expensive, but the 32GB is just right. My library is too big to fit all of it on to even 64GB, so there would have been just as much shuffling data on and off anyway.

The screen is very clear and has good colour. The touch screen controls are very easy and intuitive to use. The screen does attract a lot of fingerprints and I have had to purchase glasses-cleaning cloths to clean it with.

Music sounds great but I did have to buy a pair of in-ear headphones - the apple one included are just too big and keep falling out, although they do have the handy remote controls and microphone, for using the Voiceover feature. Voiceover is handy, although it can be a bit hit-and-miss. You have to learn the voice commands and speak very clearly, but it is useful when driving, where the lack of physical buttons is a problem.

Add some apps and games and you've got a very capable mini computer. One drawback is that you have to be in range of a wireless network to take advantage of the Touch's full capabilities.

The iPod Touch is expensive, but you do get a lot for your money, it's such a step up from the nano and I would recommend it to everyone.

          Advantages

          • Reliability

          Disadvantages

Good if you can't afford an iPhone.

I had an 80GB iPod that I used for music purposes over the last 5 or 6 years, but when my partner got a new generation iPod Touch he passed his old one on to me.

The iPod Touch operates on a much higher plane than my old iPod. I never had a problem with the touch wheel operation system from the iPod but the whole touchscreen design of the iPod Touch is definitely a massive step up. It's fun to use and certainly lets you get from point a to point b in the menu a lot faster. I think that Apple really have done a great job with the sensitivity of the touchscreen. It's sensitive enough to pick up all your movements really quickly and easily but I don't find that it's oversensitive in terms of you often clicking on things you never wanted to click on. The only time that this can be a tiny bit of an issue is when you're scrolling through your email inbox on the machine. You have to pick up your fingers and swipe them on the screen again to scroll through your mails but sometimes the initial touch does actually make you click on an email in your inbox and you end up on that individual email and rather scrolling through the whole inbox. This doesn't happen that often though, so isn't a big problem.

The iPod touch moves very quickly through all local applications like mail and music and games. It can be a tad slower when you're actually connected to the internet and surfing, but not bad in comparison to other smartphones, just a tad slower than if you're on a laptop I would say.

I have downloaded a few apps to my iPod Touch, mostly a couple of free games and a weather application etc. The process was really very easy and smooth, can't complain about that at all. While I don't have too many apps on my iPod Touch, so it's still easy to find everything, if you do have a lot you can also set up little folders on your main screen to group things together, like all games or all news apps etc, so that you don't have so many pages to scroll through to find what you're looking for.

In terms of using the iPod Touch for music, it is easier to operate than the old style iPods because, as I said, the touchscreen allows you to move much faster through your music list and between songs/artists/albums etc. That said, it has a much smaller memory and if you have some photos and a few games and apps on there, then you may find that you can't get your whole music collection on there. The 32GB is enough for me, because I have hardly any apps on there but it's a consideration for some people.

The iPod Touch doesn't have phone capabilities obviously, and also has no camera, so those are the two main reasons you may prefer to get an iPhone. But if you're just looking for a replacement for your MP3 player, and you already have a phone you're happy with, then this is definitely a good option. You don't have to pay for the internet (just operates via WLAN) and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than the iPhone.

I wouldn't have bought one for myself, and I mostly use it for music and playing some silly arcade style games (massive time-waster, but fun!), which is why I say it's another useless gadget, but once you do have one you tend to quickly find you can't do without it!

          Amazing.

This is the ultimate Mp3 player. Apple have established them as the front runners of the industry through their stylish products, amazing interface, and good build quality, and this is no different. The sound quality goes above and beyond the first and second generation touch's and it is also so much faster. That is what makes it stand out, the speed, you can easily run an app, listen to music, and have downloads in the background with it still running at an impressive rate.

The sleek curves make it a 'sexy' music device and the interface is a thing of beauty, coupled with a bright screen that makes you wonder what you were doing with all the other mp3 players that you have owned before. The applications available in the store for free and cheap are second to none, and can amuse you for a whole car journey (battery life is great at about 5 hours while watching a video/playing a game, and far over a day for music), plus you can buy extra battery packs.

This is the ultimate music device. Buy it today, and you will never ever look away.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A fun and easy way to listen to music amongst other things

So Apple have brought a new player to the game of technological advancement. But does it do its job? Yes, is the simple answer. It has transformed and improved the game at any rate.

Before acquiring my Ipod touch I had a standard MP3 player, with boring old buttons and limited memory. Then Apple introduced me to the wonderful Ipod touch. I received it for my birthday a while ago and have been pleased with it since, as it allows me to listen to music and rent videos and whatnot.

The Touch only has two real buttons on the outside; one to lock it and the other is a type of 'back' button I guess. The whole point of the Touch is to, well, touch. The screen is very sensitive to your touches, so there's no need for using a lot of force to work it. Its very simple to navigate in this way, and fun, with simple swipes and prods allowing you to select your music in style. Its also easy to use, so even people not use to technology will find it easy to use. The headphones provided with the Ipod are also fairly good, and lasted me a while, so no complaints there.

The amount of things the Touch can do is fantastic. Obviously, you could only use it as a music player, but then you would be depriving yourself of a whole lot of enjoyment. The Touch can play music, videos and can even be your alarm if needed. There's a whole range of uses for the Ipod, which come in the form of Apps. Apps are downloaded off the Itunes, either on your computer or even on the Ipod, and there are thousands of them. They provide an easy way to download and play games, using the touch interface(new and innovative ways to play), or you can download apps to help you learn, like Spanish Language learning ones. There's a whole world of apps out there, but they're waiting for you to find them. However, you do have to pay for some apps, but they don't cost much. Each app is also reviewed my customers on Itunes, so you can read through them before buying a certain app.

If you're considering buying it, then go for it. If you don't feel like splashing out for a 32gb one then get a cheaper one which has less memory. However, if you have a large music library, and may be interested in watching films on your Ipod then go for this one.

The Ipod touch has changed the face of listening to music throughout the world. It has made listening to music on the go fun and enjoyable, but you're also able to carry around your whole music library in your pocket. Fascinating.

A great product which i'm sure will take a while to become out of date and an entertaining device.

I received the 3rd Gen iPod touch 32gb for my birthday this year as it was the latest thing that all my friends had and I was intrigued. It's safe to say that this iPod is a great buy and lives up to all the hype that's been made.

First off are the apps available on the iPod, I knew there were a lot available but i had no idea there were THAT many! There are games for everyone, I'm the picky type when it comes to video games and I only enjoy a certain type and it's safe to say the iStore satisfy that desire. Besides games, there are apps for anything you can think of, you won't be disappointed.

Besides, the apps, the battery life is convenient and for me, it's lasted a long time for the period of time i've the my iPod. The fact you can also receive e-mail through the iPod is a great advantage as well, I'm the type of person who wants to keep up with my social life and manage any other business in my life through my e-mail, and now I can do that via my iPod in any wifi hot spots when I'm out with my friends.

Overall the iPod Touch is a great gadget with it fast response and it's ability to multi task and entertain with great ease.

The ultimate gadget for music, games and aps alike!!

The Ipod touch is one of the most convenient little gadgets about. Being able to take your music and video libraries has never been easier for young teens through to adults. The Ipod touch is a very simple device that requires a computer and an Itunes account to purchase music/videos, it's never been easier to upload music to such a gadget!
And no, the fun doesn't stop there! You can also store contacts, keep notes, browse the web, download games and also apps ranging from the all famous Tap Tap Revenge to Angry Birds and even raising your own pet fish in a virtual tank! There are various apps/games that are free and full games which contain much more added content, multiplayer games are also available. However, browsing the internet and downloading apps/games requires a wi-fi connection, which is possibly the most negative this product can get.
The various Gb's that are available make it easier to fit your Ipod to exactly what you want it to be. Whether you're a master music collector, or just love the number ones, the various space ranges are great... Having a 32gb gives you a great deal of space which you can use for almost anything you want.
Despite being unable to use internet features away from a wi-fi connection, the Ipod touch is a great little gadget to take whilst travelling or anywhere you go to help pass time or to just have a laugh with friends. The Ipod Touch makes a brilliant gift for christmas or birthdays, engraving is free online in which you can have names, quotes, jokes or your name engraved on your ipod to make it that little bit more personal. Cases are also a unique feature that are now available, in all sorts of colours, patterns, cartoon characters and personal designs just to fit your preferances. I have yet to find a fault wrong with the Apple Ipod Touch!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Good quality, fun, you'll never get bored.

For me, the iPod touch 32GB has been the best MP3 player I have had.
I spend a great chunk of my days listening to music, so having a reliable MP3 player is important to me, and after having countless MP3 players and CD players, I can say that the iPod is a competent MP3 player.

In a way the iPod touch is more than just an MP3 player. It's technically an iPhone but without the phone, and hefty price tag (although the iPod touch is one of the more expensive MP3 players on the market).
It is expensive, however if you think about what you are paying for it is worth the money.

I can check my email on it, browse the internet and youtube, (however you need wireless internet to do this), with ease. I regularly use the calendar and maps function also.

Another useful function is you can search itunes (with internet access) and buy apps, music and podcasts without using a computer.
The battery life is...average. I generally use more than half of it in a day, but I use it quite a lot (a few hours). Playing games however quickly drains the battery of life, but if you only listen to music it will last you more than a day.

I find that 32GB is enough to store all music and apps with a lot left over. But you cannot expand the memory which is a disadvantage.
I had an 8GB previoously and it was not enough memory for me.

I regularly use the app store, it has a whole range of applications and games ranging from free to around £3. Generally the apps you paid for are a lot higher quality but free applications are still good (facebook being one of them). You can also demo some paid apps for free to see whether you like them, and can read reviews off apps in the app store (and reviews on itunes for music).

Music quality is good, however the apple headphones that come with it break easily and don't last very long, but they have reasonable sound quality. You can also change the music to bass, extra bass etc.

The screen quality is reasonable, but not as good as the average smartphone. However it is good enough to watch videos on and for games. The games also have good graphics and are realistic. It also has bluetooth, however it does not have a built in radio which would be an improvement.

Overall I would recommend this product if you are willing to spend more on an MP3 player with more features. I bought this a few months ago and it is still working, however my old 8GB broke so it may not be that reliable. However this is a great MP3 and you'll never get bored of it.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Unless you really want more storage, don't think more expensive equals better

If you're considering getting an iPod touch at the higher end of the scale, then chances are you're already wedded to the idea of getting an iPod touch over other competitor devices. With this, you're committing yourself to a product that locks you in to non-expandable memory, iTunes and the app store, with the negatives (clunky software interface, no direct price competition) and the positives (very good user experience, good offering of apps) that this entails.

This review will focus on whether you should go for the 64 Gb version over one of its cheaper brothers: i.e., where does all the extra money go?

The answer, when compared to 8 Gb: the extra storage and a microphone built into the earphones which come with the device, and voice control. Against the 32 Gb device: the storage. Other than that, they're all the same.

This may come as a surprise since usually the most expensive products boast quite a few more refined features which set themselves apart from the entry level models. Not so here: the screen, case, weight and general user experience doesn't in itself differ between models. While the Apple website claims that the 32 Gb and 64 Gb models have improved processing speeds, having compared both an 8 Gb and 64 Gb version for some hours, I just don't see it. It's not as if certain apps won't work or run slower on 8 Gb versions but only on higher-end models.

So far, I've overlooked the microphone and voice control aspects to the higher-end versions. That's because, in practise, they're most probably not going to get used. For a start, if you don't plan on using the bundled earphones, it's possible to buy a microphone-integrated headset separately, which allows for voice notes. Secondly, ask yourself honestly: am I going to use voice control on a device which offers beautifully intuitive touchscreen control?

As such, unless you absolutely must have voice control, your only factor in choosing between models is not to do with power, design or interface, but purely storage capacity. If you know you need 32 Gb to store your music and apps, then this is the device for you. However, think long and hard that you're going to pay a hefty premium for this model because you need the storage, and not because you think that it will otherwise be better than its 8 Gb counterpart.

A few niggles, but a fantastic portable media device

Recently i was looking into buying an apple iphone, when i discovered the ipod touch, a device that has the exact same features other than call and text, for a third of the price! What i particularly love about my ipod touch is the ease and speed of wireless connectivity. In an instant i can check my emails, facebook and browse the web. By far the best feature of the ipod touch is the app store you gain access to, with millions of apps for any and every purpose. This vastly increases the functionality of your ipod which i really think gives the device value for money. Also, the games on the appstore are truly excellent, some with better graphics than the nintendo ds. However, despite all this gadgetry, there lies and extremely solid music and video player, the heart of any ipod! The touch interface feels natural and navigating through your albums is more entertaining than a chore. Despite this there are a couple of little niggles i have with the product. Firstly, the suceptability of the screen and casing to scratches which can be really frustrating after you spend £200 or so on it. Secondly, the fact that despite being displayed as a 32gb model you actually only get 29.2gb, 10% less, which made me feel a bit misled really.

                  Go ahead and purchase this

I've had a few Apple products over the years, and recently I converted from a 3rd generation iPod Nano to this 3rd generation iPod Touch. I purchased a 32GB model, as the applications will inevitably take up space.

                  Positives:
It's so easy to use! No matter how complicated an iPod may seem, you get used to it very quickly! The apps are great, the app store is easy to use and you're able to easily read reviews of an app before making the choice to purchase it. Usually, the paid apps are of a much better quality than the free ones, but they're all good fun. I use it every day for social networking, email, and even for checking the latest news. The sound quality through the earphones is ok, and the touch screen is simple, I was worried about not getting used to it but it makes browsing through your music much more pleasurable.

                  Negatives:
The sound quality through the actual iPod itself (when you takw the earphones out) is actually awful! For a company who have been producing mp3 players for years, I expected so much better from them! The silver back gets easily scratched, so I would reccommend purchasing a transparent hard case for it, these are relatively cheap, I think mine was only £2.99 but I'm sure you'd be able to get a cheaper one.

Overall, I couldn't live without this product!

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

A brilliant media player and asthetically a work of art.

Having owned this model for around two and a half years now I figured writing a review would be a good idea. First of all it's a very good product that has never really let me down.

I would like to start by just commenting on how great the touch screen actually was, originally when I was going to get this I had inhibitions about whether the screen would actually be any good, I was proven wrong however and it's actually better than I imagined, the apps and all the features are amazing but for that side I'd prefer to own an iPhone simply because it has the connection to the internet all the time. The major downside is that the WiFi is great for when you're at home, but not so much on the move. However I do find that sometimes when using it in and around the house it looses wireless signal suddenly whilst I'm upstairs for example.

The storage space is ample but more than anything I was more disappointed with the fact a few weeks after I bought this the 64gb version came out for just a small amount more than this. But I still make do with the current storage. For watching films and music playback this iPod is second to none.

The main downside is the fact that within a few days of not having a case or sleeve the shiny back became completely covered in scratches but other than the cosmetic damage I'm more than happy with this product.

                  Advantages

                  • Reliability

                  Disadvantages

                  Brilliant

First, the negatives about the Ipod touch - the additional costs - I think the sound through the headphones that are included is incredibly poor. Considering Apple want to produce something that will make you tell your friends about how great it is, you'd think they'd produce earphones which provide the best possible sound. This means that if you want to listen to the songs as intended you need to invest in better headphones, likewise in order to prevent the screen from scratching over time it's a good idea to buy a silicon sheet to go over the top - a small thing, but a decent one still tends to cost about £10 in the shops.

Now the good stuff - it looks brilliant. If there's one thing Apple always does well it's the design of their products. It has a glossy black finish to it and is thinner than the click wheel version. The screen is a good size, filling around 2 thirds of the front of the device. Fingerprints can be a problem but they clean off easy enough.
The menu designs are very nice and easy to use. When choosing music to listen to you can choose by band name, album name or song title. When choosing songs to listen to there is an alphabet on the right hand side so that you can get to the one you want quickly - for instance if you're looking by band name, tap "S" and it will take you to all the bands beginning with "S". As always, there is a shuffle facility should you just wish to listen to a random selection of songs. In replace of the click wheel, you use your finger to "drag" the pages down and is very responsive. The storage capacity is impressive, I have more than 24 hours worth of songs on my ipod and it is still less than half full. Registering your Ipod with Itunes is also easy and I'm finding that I buy fewer physical copies of albums, instead buying the online versions.

The wi-fi is very easy to use - simply switch the Wifi function on and the Ipod will find Wifi access in the area and then you select the server you want to use. There are a few different apps already on the Ipod such as You Tube and a weather forcast app or you can simply surf the net with the "safari" app. The screen also has good clarity and you can also flip the Ipod onto it's side to get a horizontal view as well to get a wider picture. It can sometimes be annoying if you don't want it because it's quite sensitive and "tilts" sometimes even when the Ipod is at less than 45% degrees.

The Ipod has a good battery life, I tend to only charge mine every few days despite listening to it at least for 3-4 hours per day and even then the battery is usually 3 quarters full.

Aside from a few small niggles, the Ipod touch is easy to use, nice looking and has plenty of space for your music collection. If I ever had to buy another mp3 player I wouldn't think twice about buying this one again.
