      brilliant item!

I must say this is one of the best purchases I have ever made it has been completely reliable despite being dropped several times and taking many bumps and scratches. It's amazing how I have relied on it for years and I have never had an issue with it ! It can play videos , read books and pictures as well as holding a large number of songs. ITunes is constantly updating as well so it is easy to use and I am always updating the ipod with new songs which play in great quality. also I have never even been close to filling up the memory of the ipod as I find it is the perfect size memory holding around 1200 songs which is enough for most people! it is very light and slips in your pocket perfectly without even feeling like youre carrying anything! I see no reason to buy a 16gb one when this one is cheaper and just as good!

Applewood nano 4th gen may come in a different size and variety of colours but not much improvement

I hade the iPod nano 3rd generation for about a year before My parents bought me the iPod nano 4th generation. For me getting this iPod was a big a surprise since the iPod nano 3rd generation me I and still haven't any problems with. In my opinion this iPod is not huge improvement on music side compared to the previous one. The big changes are that other than its performance is much quicker , the shape of the nano is completely different the 3rd generation had a wide screen and only came in 4GB and 8GB versions , while this nano has a taller screen and shake feature . The big difference I found is that unlike the previous nano is that's the screen re-orient by itself when you hold It however for me there is not enough improvements , you still can't use wifi ,ITunes need to be connected to from a computer /laptop to be able to download songs and it doesn't have any touch screen features.

        The best on the market.

The Apple IPod Nano is the original and best MP3 player, I had one years ago and recently thought about buying one again so opted for the 4th generation one. It costs around £150 to buy and it is worth every penny! I chose the blue colour but I know that you can get them in many other colours such as pink, red, orange or green. The memory on it is outstanding as it can hold up to 2000 songs and 7000 photos. Furthermore it can hold up to 8 hours of video. I've used up most of my song limit but the photos and video I find impossible which is great, you never need to worry about running out of memory! The screen is crystal clear and you can turn it on it's side and the screen moves with you so you can see more information. You can watch movies and TV shows on the iPod nano but I much prefer to listen to music. In conclusion I believe it is the best MP3 player on the market and you would struggle to find one that lives up to the Apple reputation.

Very sleek, good quality and a simply perfect music player

A classic. With the annual parade around the launch of the iPhones with built in cameras, GPS, music players, computer and the rest, it is easy to forget what Apple Products traditionally were all about. The music and video. The Apple iPod Nano combines a sleek design with a no nonsense purpose of playing music and videos, both in the expected high quality that is associated with the iPod.

I have to say a quirky feature of this iPod is the shake function. It used to be really annoying having to unlock the screen of the old iPods and then fumble to the screen to choose a song. I really like being able to just shake the iPod and a random song comes on. ALTHOUGH i have found you need to be careful as any sudden movements can lead to the iPod changing tact when you actually do not want it to.

Apart from that little fault which brings it down to a 4 star, the overall package including the skate feature is good.

        Great! 4/5

I used to love my apple iPod nano which gave me many pleasures of listening to music on the go!
I just wished it had more memory like its older brother the iPod classic which gives you a ton of gigabytes for all of your music needs but with the iPod nano giving you only 8 GB of storage, you can easily fill up that space with quite a few albums and for me that's quite bad as I'm a bit OCD when it comes to albums, like all albums must be complete with the album cover, not just random songs on a playlist, I like things organized and the amount of storage the iPod nano gives was not enough.

Overall this gave me much enjoyment for the time I had it but I broke it not to long ago when I was down the beach and the sand got stuck in the circle dial which made impossible to navigate through the iPod nano system.

          Advantages

          • Reliability

          Disadvantages

Good size, well made, lacking in sound quality.

Love the size of these, great for traveling but the sound is the weak point.

I travel about 45 minutes on public transport a day, so need something to block out the annoying people you always seem to be sitting next to, someone munching on a sweet or chatting very loudly on their mobile, these are great for that but to get the most out of this device you will need to upgrade the headphones as they let in some background noise and do not do your music justice.

I'm amazed at the quality of the screen, for such a small device it puts to shame a lot of home TVs.

The user interface is very well thought out, so you will have no problems getting to grips with it without ever having read the manual.

The build quality is as good as it gets as always with Apple, it's also good to know an Apple shop is not too far away if i ever need help.

Overall I am please I bought this product but would probably look to either spend more on a pair of headphones or a different device if I was really into my music and wasn't just using it to pass traveling time and block out noise.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A great mp3 player with low reliability!

I received the 4th generation iPod Nano in 2009 as a gift but I know that at the time the 8gb was available for around £100 at various stores but £129 on the Apple store. Aesthetically, it is a very good looking device and the scroll click wheel is great for browsing music and navigating the device. The headphones that come with the device are sufficient if not great and many people will choose to replace them with their own.

The primary function of an iPod is to play music. You may disagree but honestly you don't buy an iPod nano unless you want to listen to music on it. You can watch a film on it but who wants to watch a film on a 2" screen. I tried it once and was left perplexed why they even offer that experience afterwards. In terms of music playing, the iPod is the number one device out there. I have tried other MP3 players and I have never had anything like the user experience or quality that I have with the iPod and I'm not a fan of overly expensive goods like most apple products are. The menus are clear, playlists can be easily created and although not a fan of Genius which matches your song to similar ones to make a playlist, it can be fun to play around with and find songs that you had forgot about.

One gripe I have is with the cover flow feature which many people actually like. This was a new feature of the 4th gen and it allows you to scroll through your album covers by turning your iPod on its side. However I find this frustrating as sometimes my iPod will be on its side in my pocket or on a dashboard etc and it is frustrating to try and turn it back to normal. The other new feature of the shake to shuffle feature when unlocked is however very nice for when you are bored of a song or just fancy a change but it is a bit of a gimmick as most of the time you could simply just tap the next button.

Reliability wise, you may think that the fact that it has lasted three years is a good sign but unfortunately, during this time, my use of it has not been at all heavy. I would say the maximum number of chargers that it had was around 100 which really isn't a lot when some people charge theirs everyday. I very rarely dropped it but I would throw it in my pocket with keys or coins. This obviously left scratches but it wouldn't cause proper damage. The death of my iPod was sealed on a run....i was jogging along listening to my music when the volume suddenly dropped. When I came to a break in my run, I checked my iPod and the screen was almost fully black but my music was still slightly audible. Eventually the screen completely blacked out and it doesn't respond to any form of charging etc and the screen is effectively dead from what must be sweat. A music device that is susceptible to sweat is pretty poor in my opinion.

In conclusion, I think that the iPod is a very good music player but in terms of an overall device then I have to be worried about its reliability as it isn't a cheap device being on the pricier scale of MP3 players.

Apple deliver yet another quality product, and it's easy to see why Ipod's are so popular.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised with this device. It does exactly what it says on the tin, is easy to set up and start, and easy to transfer the music files over using I tunes (once you get the hang of it). The Ipod itself is sleek and sexy. It's light and easy to carry, however the screen can be easily scratched as can the metal casing on the outside. I also love the amount of options and setting available which add much more to the device; These include games and other musical features that improve the overall experience. The battery life is quite good too, just be sure to turn off your device properly when not using it. The headphones provide good quality sound and also look great too. If your after a basic Ipod without breaking the bank, then this is definitely the one for you!

                Still a classic design

This is a review of the ipod nano 8GB, mine is black unlike the one depicted here, it is my third ipod and it would be true to say I love ipods. Anyway enough self-appraisal, what can be said about a gadget which will probably define the 2000's just like a Walkman defined the 80's or the portable CD player the 90's?

                Ipod's

Ipods are the market leaders in personal music providers but now offer far more for than just a platform for music, the system requires the user to have their music as mp3 files stored in a file server called itunes. The ipod once attached to the itunes server can be easily modified for the music it can play, alongside any music from albums; the user can download a lot of material from the internet called podcasts. Podcasts are a form of data file which the user can download automatically upon subscribing to a website and the itunes directory downloads the latest file automatically.
                Use of the ipod nano
My latest ipod is a nano, it is tall and thin rather than the previous versions which have been squarer shaped, the ipod is characterised by the screen at the top and the ipod wheel at the bottom of the machine. The screen is approximately an inch square, and is in colour with a 3D element for file searches, the scrolling for files or albums means that the album or podcasts art work can be seen which adds a nice colourful touch, especially for this user who can remember vinyl album covers.

As with all ipod's the ease of use is the key selling point, it is easy to use the scroll wheel to look up the file you require, starting with the first page the user can look for music, podcasts, change the time or date, photos or can go straight into shuffling songs rather than scrolling for a particular album or singer. If the user picks music he can choose between types of music, all the music by one artist, specific albums or just one song the choice is theirs. If the user is a podcast fanatic like me, then the podcasts often come with artwork and can be easily selected for. One useful tool is if the user wants to listen to something in chronological or release order, if the user clicks on the artist or podcast and presses the play button on the bottom wheel the ipod wil start from the earliest file in that directory and play on from there, if the user goes into the file directory then the files will start from the first one on the list and go from there (if this is a podcast then it will be the latest edition).

This ipod differs from the previous ipods in that it has an integrated and user friendly radio which can be accessed if the user inserts headphones and selects for a radio station, this feature is new to me and is useful whilst travelling on the train or bus. There are better acoustics and screen resolution so the ability to watch a film or TV programme is much improved compared with earlier models.

Overall, once again happy with my ipod, I think it's the best personal music provider on the market at the moment. I suspect though that its time is starting to come to a natural conclusion and that with the advent of music on mobile phones that a dedicated music device will be a thing of the past inside the next 10 years or so but we will see.

                  Right MP3 for me!

Launched in September 2008, I had found myself searching for a good MP3 device to store my music on and listen to for a good while. Seen as my birthday is November, I decided to wait until then to get the iPod nano 4th Gen device.

When I received this device, I was instantly satisfied. 4GB was all I needed for all my music, pictures etc.

The device cost £100 considering I had a voucher on my Amazon account at the time.

The device can hold up to 2000 songs, which was MORE than enough and still to 2013 is!
The device holds 7000 view-able pictures.
Also, it can store up to 8 hours of video.

The color I received was green, which I was not overly bothered about, however, don't let this put you off buying considering they let you choose the color yourself.

Another feature I find easy is the use of the camera/video recorder, which is very useful and has a good picture quality so all in all that is very useful to me. Also, is the usage of games, which I really enjoy having on my Nano considering I can't get too many on my phone.

Regarding the image quality, the 320 by 240 pixel resolution is a very high quality.

                  Boxed, the product weighed 450g.

Overall, I believe that this device is my personal favorite Apple product I have owned to date.

I have had no products with the Nano till date, and would highly recommend the product to any friends or family members.

All in all, based on my user experience, the 4th Gen 4GB Apple iPod Nano, is a 5/5 star product!

A great device to listen to music

I got this for Christmas and I was soo thrilled. Since I started gym recently I needed some thing smaller than my previous mp3 and this was the perfect product for me. It took me a while to get used to it but in less than I day I was already filling up my ipod with my favourite songs. The size of this is very handy. I love the fact it is so slim. It can easily fit into your back pocket when you're on the treadmill or when you're just on your way home. There were a lot of colours to choose from and I got the one in purple. Sadly, 3 days after receiving it, I dropped it in the middle of the road and the main screen just shattered. I was so disappointed because it wasn't even a massive drop, it just simply fell out of my hands. It made me think what kind out material do they make this out of if it can't even survive a tiny drop. Luckily, my sister ordered me a full cover for it so it was protected for the future. Watching movies on this I must say is a bit... well... not practical. The screen is tiny! So I mainly use this for listening to my songs or audio books. I think this makes a lovely gift for both a friend and yourself. I do recommend this to everyone.

                  Very satisfied

I've had this iPod for a couple years now and it still works perfectly fine. I am amazed at how last it longs. Normally when I buy something technical, it breaks down on me or eventually dies. This ipod has had a rough life and I'm still satisfied. Two years ago I accidentally put it through the washer and dryer. Amazingly the only thing it did to the iPod was make the screen light stop turning on. Its hard to see the screen now and I have to use good lighting in order to be able to see what I'm doing, but the music still plays and the battery life is still long. Honestly, I don't care too much for the brightness of the screen. Just the fact that this iPod still works and is still playing my favorite tunes is good enough for me. Don't try to wash and dry it but expect it to last a while and to be almost indestructible! I won't be getting an new iPod for a long time, that's for sure.

                    PRODUCT
                    ------------
Apple is a worldwide phenomenal brand and it creates a lot of new media technology. I have had this iPod a fair few years ago and since I have found it brilliant. I use it near enough everyday and I have had no problems with it. However, I have noticed some damage to the outer casing. Not dents or anything extreme just scratching in the paint work that has made it discolor. The item comes in a lot of different colours and this is brilliant because you can choose your favourite colour to represent your personality.

The product itself comes in a small transparent box that displays the iPod from the front. The back piece is the same thickness as the front piece so that when you open it up it stays balanced. The item is easy to un-clip and if you life out the item you will find instructions and rolled up headphones underneath. The iPod itself has a lock button at the top which also turns the iPod on, unless it is open and then you use center circle button, and a navigation pad below the screen. The navigation is again in the form of a circle and has a menu button, which takes you to the menu and back and next song button and a play and pause button. If titled landscape the product can be used to play games with its motion sense attribute. The headphones are the standard iPod headphones with the all white cable and silver circles around the ear pieces. These headphones are very easy to plug into the iPod.

Personally, I think that this product is really good and easy to use, even for someone who is new to technology. The sound is brilliant through headphones, though not so much out loud. The iPod has an outside speaker which isn't as good but I personally don't mind as this is not one of the functions I brought it for, it was just a nice add on. It has never crashed and I find it easy for me to use. It is very easy to navigate through images, music, games and videos. However, I have had it many years and have not yet found out how to put videos onto it.

                    COST
                    -------
I bought mine for £89.99 when it first come out but now you can get them for £40.00. I think this is a great price for this product and other than it not being a touchscreen, I find that it does the same job as any other Apple product when it comes to playing music.

                    RECOMMEND
                    ----------------
I would highly recommend this product to those who love the apple brand or who simply want to listen to music in an efficient way. The highest I've seen this priced online is £59, but I would recommend this price also for a brand new one.

Easy to use whenever I need

After mainly receiving money at Christmas in 2009 - Due to the fact I'm so awkward when it comes to buying presents, I had more than enough money to buy this fine gadget. The only reason at the time I bought this Nano, was so I wasn't wasting space all the time with a rather largely growing music collection, and so I could listen to music without irritating people around the house listening to my loud music!

I recall the device cost £115 new from Amazon.

This 8gb device, was enough to hold 2000 songs, only of which 1500 songs originally took up. With the device came a start up manual, headphones ( No special quality ), a dock adaptor and a USB charger.

The design of this is simple but fairly nice. I received a silver Nano ( Which you do get to choose ) - And was immediately satisfied and my opinions have always been the same.

It's of easy use, easy to record videos and take pictures, and most importantly to me is simple to export the songs from my computer to the Nano itself. Also, I'm fine when it comes down to purchasing music on the iTunes store - I'm not very brilliant when it comes to tech!

This basically was a gamble buy to me, yes, I did need a device to store music in and carry around, but I've never really been a fan of Apple products. What drew me to the product was the great price, and for the price of the device upon release I was not going to pass this down.

Overall, a great device which is so simple yet so durable, and ideal for using as a portable music storer.

                    Advantages

                    • Reliability

                    Disadvantages

Awesome iPod and totally worth the money but you should get a case for it as it gets scratched easy

This was my first iPod nano I ever got, it was great. I thought it was the best present ever when I first got it, it was like a baby, I had it everywhere I went and I took proper good care of it. As silly as that sounds, it's true. I loved it so much. You could put your favourite programmes on it, movies, music, podcasts, it was truely awesome. The smoothness was great, the way you didn't have to press onto the circle pad to change songs was good, it just knew you were touching it. The battery life on it's very good too. The price is decent and totally worth it. I had to let go of my iPod nano as I upgraded to the touch which is obviously better but obviously worth more money haha, this iPod is awesome. The only problems were that it got chipped quite easily and the back gets scratches soooo easily it's unreal.

Say you're listening to a song you really like and want to hear other tracks that go great with it. The genius feature finds the songs in your music library that go great together and makes a Genius Playlist for you. It's like having your own highly intelligent, personal DJ.

Tilt or turn iPod nano on its side, and you'll listen, watch, and play in new ways. You can flip through your album art with cover flow. Or, vertically speaking, see more albums and artists on the screen at one time.

Pull hundreds of photos from your pocket and share them wherever you go. Hold iPod nano upright and see your photos in portrait view. Turn it on its side to see them in landscape. Your photos look beautiful in their proper aspect ratio on the vibrant, 320-by-240-resolution display.

It's even easier to find the song you want to hear. Now you can view your album art in cover flow. Or just press and hold the center button to browse by album or artist. When you find the right song, press the center button to add it to your on-the-go playlist.

Sometimes, people could all use a little unpredictability. And now you can shake to shuffle your music. Just give iPod nano a shake and it shuffles to a different song in your music library. You'll always be surprised by what you'll hear.

Watching movies, TV shows, and videos is big fun on iPod nano. And the high-resolution picture looks crisp and vivid on the 2-inch widescreen display. So you can always have a little video with you.
