A good television for a very good price

When getting a new television most people tend to locate the cheapest deal with a brand they are familiar with and I went for LG.

I looked around various websites deciding was this the right television for me and after seeing it inside a store I went and brought one.

This is a 42 inch television so you have a fair amount of screen to look at which is pretty good and most of the time I complain to people big television screens are pointless but this television looks impressive.

When you unpack this product the weight is the biggest issue which gets you first. The television weighs 20kg which means you need help if you want to hang it on the wall with a bracket like I have done.

On the back of the product is a nice amount of holes to let you decide what type of wall bracket you want. I picked a heavy duty one due to the weight of this television set and it was a good decision. On the one side you have all the various slots for your wires to be plugged into.

I like this idea because some televisions leave you having wires all over the place due to the locations of HDMi slots and scart connections and it looks really messy when you look at the back.

This television has one scart and pc output connections and 2 HDMi slots so if you have a high definition device then it will look superb on this television.

I have to point out this is only HD Ready and not full HD. I have never fully understood this before but to be honest when I play my films or watch HD shows on television through my TiVo box I notice the difference instantly.

To make things really sound good there is a 3,000,000:1 ratio which is outstanding and some of the more expensive television sets have a very small ratio so the higher the number the better.

When I finally got the control out of the box the remote is very big but so are the buttons which help you recognise what you have to do to set it all up. You have a nice range of helpful guides as well with the television to help you understand everything.

What really got to me and added that extra special element was the buttons on the screen. I was searching for them everywhere and yet could not locate them and finally the manual said it was touch screen. Underneath the screen you have a few buttons such as the volume controls and power buttons and you just touch them on screen instead of having buttons on the screen.

What I like about this idea is that you cannot accidentally turn off the screen without wanting to do so. In the past I have brushed past a television screen and had it turn off due to the location of the buttons.

I have found a few minor problems with the product the first being the sound. When I watch a movie I turn the volume up to a suitable sound level and yet when you turn the channel over to different channel sometimes the volume has gone down itself.

An example would be having my volume at setting 23 and then when I turn the channel the television has turned itself down to 15 so it can be annoying when it does that.

The second fault could be how difficult it can be to insert cables into the back. If you get a heavy duty wall bracket for this television set your biggest issue is that if your screen is very close to the wall you end up not being able to take wires in or out of the screen.

I think the weight is slightly too much and I think also the amount of small issues can annoy people. I got this television for £299 online a few months ago and the graphics are superb and the amount of various help guides is amazing.

This is one television I would look out for and it is available also from Amazon as well.
