One word sums it up....'Rushed'. I am a massive F1 fan and I love to be racing games so not being big headed, I know a decent F1 game when I see it. I want to drive a game which resembles F1 as much as possible and leaves you wanting more. F1 2000 really stumbles. I got a US copy of F1 2000 and I got it in pretty cheap compared to the UK but I don't think you would get me shelling out £50 for this. First time of putting it in...I thought the graphics and sounds were stunning...they can't be beaten..even by GP3. The attension to detail is great, all sponsors are there and tyre marks appear when cars touch one another. You get the heat haze from the starting grid to a full pitcrew shown changing your tyres etc. When accelerating away from stationary the car reacts like a real one and you feel the power put down..you can also get tons of smoke if you are to heavy with the accelerator. The crashes are fun and realistic and you have to keep you wits about you because the slightest touch can knock your wheel off or put you in the barrier. Now...where they rushed...the most obvious place is that racing is unrealistic..the first lap or so you can make 10 places by the first corner but what tends to happen is that when it comes to a corner..your opposition can go alot faster around it...but when your on the straights you shoot past them....it ruins the race. Who wants to see a car do 100MPH around a 50MPH corner? They rushed it because they knew there was a market for this type of game on the PS2...but they rushed it to much...also the lap times are well out compared to the real thing. If they can get that sorted out and improve things like adding flags, pace car...make it more realistic then it could become THE game to have.
As an avid F1 fan, I like to play all the Formula 1 games I possibly can, and when I saw that EA Sports were bringing out an F1 title, I was very pleased. Imagine a Formula 1 game on a console as powerful as the PlayStation 2!! I certainly wasn't to be disappointed. The best Formula 1 game I'd ever played before this was F1 2000 on PSX. I was very impressed by that game but even more so with F1 Championship Season 2000. The graphics are excellent, and it has all the cars and drivers from the 2000 season. There are a 5 modes on this game, which are season mode, custom season, single races, multiplayer and Grand Prix weekend. There's nothing new here really, apart from custom season mode, where you choose which tracks to race in which order. You can also customise the qualifying positions, which can lead to quite a few abnormal race winners! This game is fun as well as challenging, although it can be very frustrating at some points. You will need quite a lot of practice to get used to the game, but once you do, it's quite a lot of fun to play, and also quite addictive. The best thing about this game has to be the GIGANTIC crashes!! If you crash hard enough and fast enough, you will spin up metres in the air, while completely destroying your car!! If you want to see these crashes again, just press trinagle for the instant replay. Lovely! The graphics on this game are amazing, and the in-game action is as good as the FMV sequences (in other words, replays and the bit before the race). The cars are detailed, the crowd is exceptional, with photo flashes and and great detail on the sponsorship boards. You can also see the heat coming from the back of the cars at the start of the race!! The cars are easy to control, but you can change all that to fit your style. There are a few disappointing parts. No commentary, and the music isn't brilliant, but the cars sound very realistic. There are nothing really that new apart from the grpahics ad updated teams and drivers, but really, what can you add to a Formula 1 game?? This game gets 4.5 stars out of 5 for me, and is a definite purchase for all Formula 1 fans.
Hi I'm a big F1 fan, so had high expectations of playing a new F1 title on my PS2 console. When I saw that EA where releasing such a title, I was quite excited. I was very fortunate to buy this game at a very reasonable price, and boy! am I glad I did. This game is terrible. The only good thing about it is that it has/had the latest driver line up. I really am struggling to offer anything more positive than that. I whole heartedly recommend that you steer well clear of this game, and if you find it impossible to do so, because you are a F1 nut. Then please rent it first. You have been warned.
A driving game developed and published by EA Sports. Sporting the official license of the F1A the game features all of the real drivers teams and tracks of the 2000 season. There are five game modes: race now multiplayer single GP
