Delta Force, one of the first and best strategy/shoot em up games.
The game takes place in the desert. You are given mission objectives by your command. You must complete these objectives to move onto the next mission. Missions will include killing targets, destroying targets and retrieving information.
Along the way you will find an array of weapons and items to help you through the missions including health packs and armour.
Unlike other games such as Quake and Doom, if you get hit in the right place on your body in this game then you will be killed. Head shots will kill you out right adding a new level of skill needed to combat the game.
The best mode by far is the multiplayer online mode through which you get to battle against other humans around the world. Playing against real human intelligence is far better than any AI that is available, even now.
There are a variety of different game modes available including free for all where everybody is trying to kill everybody else. You can play team games where you will be on one of two teams playing against each other.
Delta Force is one of the best first person shooters I've ever played. It is also different to most other FPS games, not like Quake when you can take loads of pain before you die, in Delta Force 1 bullet will normaly take you down. There is a nice range of weapons in Delta Force includeing some snipers rifles and a very powerful and heavy machine gun. The good thing is that all the weapons have a use, in some missions you'll want to be quiet so you will pick the slienced MP5. But in other missions you won't need or want to be quiet so you'll pick a nice machine gun. :) The game is split into 5 campains each set in a different county and each having different terrain types. Each mission has a different goal. In some missions all you have to do is kill all the baddies in a base, but there are ones when you have to blow something up, rescue a hostage, or escort someone to safty. The game features really good sound which is even better if you have surround sound. The sound really draws you into the game when guns are firing everyware and bullets hitting the ground all around you. The game also has some nice graphics, not the best in the world but they are good enougth, but, then gameplay is more important, right? :) The only bad thing about this game is that is has got some poor al. For example sometimes to baddie soldiers run into a buliding and just keep running not moving at all, allowing to you easyly kill them. This game can also be played on-line which is a lot of fun. There are different game types as well such as, deathmatch, team deathmatch and capture the flag. All of these are a lot of fun and you'll be playing for hours. All in all this is a great game and all FPS fans will love it.
Delta Force is a new game by Novalogic, a company that has brought their considerable expertise from multiplayer flight sims to an action sim. ********** As a member of the army's super special attack unit, Delta Force, you will conduct missions in every possible terrain, under extreme conditions, using your training and all the high tech support the army can provide. ********** There are over 40 missions, all created using a former Delta Force Officer as consultant, all using real-world environments that have been created with a brand new version of their Voxel graphics engine that is 32-bit color capable. On top of this, there is a free large-scale multi-player network available via novaworld.net. ********** Delta Force's indoor environments are ugly and the nighttime missions are murky. The third person viewpoint is almost entirely useless. Perhaps the strangest thing about this game is the fact that it cannot be 3D accelerated. Not as big a drawback as you might expect (because the engine is so perfectly suited to the way the game plays), but it takes some getting used to. ********** With up to 32 players able to play simultaneously in multi-player mode, a terrain that is clearer and more distinct (in its own blocky way) than any other game out there and a good solid feel to the all the action, this is a first rate, first person shooter! ********** As an added bonus, you can pick up delta force in the shops now for around a TENNER !!! Go buy it ! ********** For anyone who does not has a Pentium II with plenty of power, but no hardware accelerator card, this IS the game to have! ********** Minimum System Requirements: CPU: Pentium 166 OS: Windows 95/98 RAM: 16 MB CD-ROM: 4x required Video: SVGA 1MB Card
Have you ever wondered what it was like to move through an open desert with charlie all around with only an M249 as company? Well if you have this is the closest you'll get to it with out experiencing it for real. This is one of, if not the best shoot 'em up's I have ever played. And if you think the single player game is good just wait till you get onto the multiplayer option. You can challenge your family, friends, people you don't know and anyone else you can think of over a 32 player deathmatch. Although the game does not support 3DFX the graphics are pretty good, with extreamly large maps. Basicaly THIS GAME ROCKS! Sleep
Novalogic, famous for their flight sims have decided to enter the first person scene, and given us "Delta Force!" First of all Novalogic have yet again decided to use Voxel space technology...They never learn! To be fair its crap for this style of game, it may provide large area's of open battle land but up close it's absolutely terrible. Enemies appear more pixelated then Half-Life in software and the animations for them are laggy and generally crap. However the AI is quite good both for the enemies and for your fellow soldiers. One area that Delta force does stand out is for the realistic and the tense 'atmosphere creating' sounds. Bullets ricochet off the ground in front of you, your weapon sounds like raging beast and explosions echo into the serenity of the air! For about a week after I started playing the game, I thought it was pretty good and I was excited to come back to play it. The mission structure is nice with locations moving from the middle east, the arctic and to S.American jungles. I ended up protecting Presidents, capturing drug lords and destroying nuclear missiles. However after the first week of playing I became bored and the levels became tedious. I found no real enjoyment out of the missions because each time it was just a 'kill as many people as possible' level. Also there was no real interaction between yourself and your team members meaning that they did what they wanted to and didn't really help you much at all. Lastly the choice of weapons is rather limited, with you really only being allowed to choose an assault rifle, full automatic machine gun or a sniper rifle (however the sniper rifle is rather neat as you are able to pick off punks at 1.5km away!). This game could have been something special if not for the graphics, however even though it does have some good points you will become bored of it after a few weeks. If you want a good army style 1st person get Rainbow Six or T
eam Fortress 2. If you do decide to buy this make sure you get it from EB and keep the receipt. Spec: Processor: Pentium 166 (MMX) Memory: 16Mb Sound: All major cards supported Graphics: SVGA Controls: Mouse Publisher: NovaLogic Price: £34.99 Release date: Out now
This is one of those games where the upsides are slightly outweighed by the downsides. There is a wide selection of weapons and missions to choose from, however gameplay is not as fast as you might expect from a shoot-em-up game. The graphics are superb, but the enemies movements are lame. By the way if you don't know the cheat codes by now here they are: press the little wavey line next to the one key and a command line will appear type iwillsurvive and you can't be killed, type takeittothelimit and get full ammo for the rest of the game. Oh, by the way 3 stars for the game.
This game is one of the best that i ever played and especially it is a wonderful game if you have an accelaration card. It is true that it is a long game but if you are a fan of simulation games and real time war game, you got to try this!. The playability and the composition of the game is amazing and it is a real mind teaser. This game also offers multiplayer facility which i found very useful and this game is more exciting and interesting if played over the net with a friend because the enjoyment you can gain is undoubtably above average!
Delta Force, a military first person simulation based around the US military unit. Forget about the awful films of the same name, this game has absolutely nothing to do with them. What you get with Delta Force is quite simply THE online game to play. Basically you play a soldier who has to do the usual sort of thing in this game, i.e. kill terrorists and the like. Graphically it isn't the most stunning game you will see. It doesn't take advantage of 3DFX technology, so you need a reasonable processor to get the most out of the game. The single player mode isn't too bad, but as with most games won't last forever. But forget about that for now anyway. Delta Force really comes into its own when you log into NovaWorld and start playing online. Now everything you had learnt in the single player game must be forgotten, and you have to start all over again. Now, perhaps you are thinking "I've got quake and im good at that, this won't be a problem". Wrong. In Delta Force you can not simply run around with your finger on the trigger button. If you do this then you will die constantly. No, you have to be much more stealthy, you have to use the terrain to good effect, you have to decide which is the best weapon for the job. Should you take a sniper rifle with a telescopic sight, or a MP5, which is silent and deadly? There is sooo much more that can be said about this game, and I suggest is you are still hungry for information you visit www.delta-force2.com I will finish by saying that I have had this game for almost 2 years now, and I still like it as much, if not more than the first time I played it.
Now thinking back about 8 months i can remember this being the greatest game and will always be one which sticks in my mind (the good old days, hey!). I played the game on-line for around 6+months with a squad that i built up with a few others though i had to end this because of my work. The game brought hours of fun and although the off-line version was not the greatest and was a little easy the on-line one, well that was something else entirly. It is one of the best exicuted on-line games EVER, and that is not a joke!
Delta force was quite a shock when it was released, not because of the style of gameplay but because of the graphics engine used. Novalogic opted once again not to use polygons for Delta Force but their usual Voxels. Voxels are very difficult to describe and i have yet to meet a man who has been able to. But they are a reasonably good alternative to polygons. The one advantage of Voxels is they don't need a 3D card to run effectively. The main problem with Voxels is that they can't really do small objects very well, and even large objects are exactly brilliant. The only thing that they can really do graphically is landscapes and that's about it. The story for Delta Force is that you are a soldier in the top secret American group known as Delta Force. Your mission is to stop a number of terrorists around the world. To complete this mission you must undertake around 40 levels of wiping out personel, saving hostages and stealing objects. This is all good fun, although sometimes the gameplay does get a bit samey. But the fun is restored when you get your hands on a sniper rifle. The sniper rifles in this game are the best in any game except for Delta Force 2. You can stand 1km away from your target and still manage to take his head off. The other weapons that you use throughout the game include silenced and unsilenced machine guns and rocket launchers. All these weapons are accurately tranferred to the games world. The game isn't too difficult although some parts the missions do get quite tricky. In some missions it can be quite easy at first but then it can suddenly get a lot harder especially if the enemy find out where you are. Sound is a very important part of this game, the best way to play this game is with headphones. This is because you need to be able to hear where the guns shots are coming from. This enables to know where the enemy are coming from. The game has been executed
very well and Novalogic should be praised for their accomplishment in this style of game. They have succeeded where others companies have failed, take a look at Spec Ops. That game was as buggy as hell and was crap and so was the sequel. Delta Force is far superior to those games and the only game of this style that only comes close to this game is Rainbow Six. Even if you don't like this style of game you'll most likely enjoy Delta Force, even if it is only for the sniper rifles.
O.K, First things first, Delta Force IS a good game, it looks great and plays great but it chugs along so slowly, it feels like you are walking in treacle. This is due to the fact that Novalogic still insist on using their Hypervoxels game engine despite other, faster game engines being available, I really can't understand it. I havent got the fastest machine in the world but I expect to be able to play reasonably well on a AMD-K62 500Mhz, Voodoo3 2000 and 96MB of RAM but i constantly find myself switching screen resolutions trying in vain to get a decent frame-rate. If you have got a PC with a bit more beef than mine you may find this game runs ok but i really would suggest trying it before you buy if you can. Come on Novalogic give it up! Hypervoxels just dont cut it anymore...
Talk about realistic! One minute you're crouching on a snow covered mountain, and the next, you're launching grenades at an enemy missile launcher! This is possibly the most addictive game on the planet. It is enthralling to play, and it gives you a wide variety of weapons of destruction with which to wreak havoc and caues wanton destruction to all your enemies, be it in Peru or Indonesia. The missions are sometimes very simple, but a couple of them had my death toll going into double figures. The graphics are good at first, but the pixels appear if you waner too close to buildings or the trees. Apart from that, this game is definitely the best army game, and it is actually better than its sequel, go out and buy it!
This is a cool game, with great single and multiplayer gaming. It offers you about 40 levels with a combination of objectives. You fight in a range of enviroments like Snow, jungle, and desert areas. The graphics can be a little sketchy but with great gameplay which is addicted it makes up for that. There are a good selection of guns, as primary, secondary weapons which have to match the mission you are going on. The great multiplayer games set up by novalogic, allows you to battle agaisnt your friends on new levels, with up to 32 playing at once. You can also play different games like deathmatch and capture the flag. Well i hope after reading this u will be encouraged to look out for it.
Delta Force is a better game than many people would have you believe. The simple principle is to go out, and kill people as a member of the American Army's Delta Force (their equivalent of the British SAS). You are given a choice of a series of campaigns in different regions of the world, each having a different terrain etc. You view this world in 3d using Novalogic's proprietory 3d engine but it's not as good as say, the Quake engine, or the Unreal engine. This is it's major downfall - graphics are important for a 3d first person perspective game such as this, and it does fall short. However, this is obviously not the be all and end all as "graphics a good game do not make". The game play is very good and it is the most realistic presentation of warfare at soldier level I've seen or played (bar it's sequal DF2). It's quite difficult on the harder levels of difficulty and there are lots of missions to get through which gives the game good longevity. There are also lots of different ways of doing each mission and you can choose weapons to complete missions with too, and this allows you different ways of doing them again. You also have artificial team mates to play alongside - but unfortunately they're not up to much and die too easily. Talking of death, it's very easy to do in Delta Force. One shot is likely to kill you, so it's very realistic. Multiplayer is included so you can blast away with your mates, or your enemies =). Anyway, it's great fun and cheap now. Go out and have a go.
A fine game if ever i saw one. The single player is great, what is better then creeping up on mr.terrorist and slicing him with your Ka-Bar (big knife basically) or popping someone from 1km+ with your sniper rifle and thanks to the fantastic voxel space engine you can. The voxel engine means that your combat is done on rolling terrain unlike all those other games where your limited to a certain arena. Once your done killing the AI, which won't take long then you are basically ready for the incredible multiplayer mode. With some great novaworld games for the beginners, public games for the rest and the private games for well....private games....its grate. Choose from deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag, king of the hill and team king of the hill there is something for everyone. Got fed up with the same maps, then download new ones. The players are great, some good people playing who are a grate laugh.
