I love 4head because I think it is really soothing and so convenient and easy to use when a headache strikes. I tried the 4head strips as they were on offer at the time and I wanted to see if they were as good as the stick. I have to say that I absolutely loved them but I just thought that they were too expensive when you consider that you only get 4 strips in a packet and they cost £4. For someone who gets a lot of migraines then these would work out really expensive to keep replacing and even for someone like me who doesn't suffer from headaches a lot they were more a treat than something I would buy often. These work like a wet cool cloth on your forehead would do and you use them by peeling off the paper on the blue gel side of the strip and then sticking it to your forehead. They stick really well and you can immediately feel the cooling sensation coming from the gel part. They gel has Levomenthol in it and you can feel the coolness and it really does feel similar to a wet cloth as even though the gel is dry it does give a sensation of dampness where it touches the skin. These are lovely and cooling and do wonders at relaxing me and soothing any bad heads that I have. If I suffered from regular migraines then I personally would invest in these as although they are expensive they are so soothing and cooling that I would be willing to pay the money for them. I have also used them when I have had a fever from the cold and they were wonderful for this and really helped bring my temperature down and make me feel a bit better. The coolness of them lasts for ages too and I had one on not that long ago when I had a fever and it lasted for hours and the gel didn't even feel less sticky and stuck to my forehead for the entire time. They say that they are supposed to stay cool for up to 6 hours but I think it was a little bit less than this and I think it was more like four hours but even then I think this is quite a long time. I really liked these and would definitely buy them again but I would save them for only using those times when I had a really bad headache or else a fever as they are too expensive to use anytime a slight headache strikes.
I used to suffer really badly with migraines when I was younger and was on medication for them quite often. As I got older I didn't really want to take too many pain killers because I do believe you can become reliant on them and also get used to them and so they don't work as they should anyway. Obviously sometimes I do still get migraines but I like to try and manage them with normal pain killers and natural methods if I can which is how I came to purchase some 4head quick strip for migraine relief. 4head is a brand which offer ways in which you can try and treat headaches and migraine without resorting to the use of traditional pain relief or which you can use along side pain relief as well. They have a 4head menthol stick which you can use to apply to pressure points and the forehead when a headache strikes and I always found this quite good and so when I saw the 4head quick strips in the chemist I decided to get some in to try for when I had a particularly nasty headache. The strips come in a bright pink cardboard box packaging which I immediately recognised as part of the 4head brand and so I think they did a good job with packaging this so people who have used the brand before will notice it on the shelf. The box tells us that the quick strips offer fast relief for migraine and there is a picture of a woman with one of the strips on her head so you can get an idea of what they look like! We are told that the strips are dual action and will offer instant cooling relief for migraine and severe headaches and will also help to relax tense head and neck muscles. In the pack that I bought I got four strips but I believe you can buy them in packs of eight too. Inside the box there are two sachet style packs each of which contains two of the quick strips for use. The packaging they come in means they are handy for transporting should you feel the need as well. To use the product you should open up the top of one of the sachets and remove one of the strips. The strip is basically a hydro gel strip which is formulated to make it feel cool and soothing on the head whilst also containing levomenthol which works with the analgesic feeling of coldness and helps to relax muscles in the head and neck for instant cooling relief without the need for oral medication. As I said earlier I don't always want to resort to pain killers when I have a headache and so these can be a good option but I have to say I have found that in most cases when I reach for these the headache is severe enough to warrant pain killers as well. When you want to use one of these strips you need to peel off the backing paper off the strip and then apply it to wherever you feel the pain. I find it can be quite handy when I have a tense headache to just cut the strip in to smaller pieces so that I can apply some on my temples and the rest of the strip on my forehead but in some occasions I will just apply the whole strip to my forehead. I determine where to place the strip depending on where the pain is and I think this is a really handy thing to be able to do. You can actually place these strips on the back of the neck too if you are feeling tense there but this isn't something that I have had to use them for. You should not try and use the product over the eyes or eyelids, nostrils or mouth or on any broken skin but I think that is all common sense stuff anyway! When you pop the strip on to your head you will find it is instantly cooling and this is without the need for any refrigeration as well. There is a definite menthol smell to the strips and I think inhaling this also helps soothe a headache as well. What is great is these strips stay in place really well and so I will sometimes pop one on and then climb in bed to try and sleep off a bad headache and they don't just fall off as soon as my head hits the pillow though will be off if I sleep with one off as I am quite a fidgety sleeper! The strips say they stay cool for up to six hours but I have found that in some cases I can pop one on in the morning that I had on the night before and it will still have a cooling effect! When I have one of these strips on my head when I have a headache I do think they are comparable to the days when I used to wet a flannel and lie with it over my eyes but this has the added benefits of the levomenthol which seems to be as equally soothing for me. These strips are suitable for those aged twelve years and older as well as those people who are pregnant or breast feeding and may need to avoid pain relief which is really helpful I think. I personally think they are a really good option for when you do get struck with a particularly nasty headache and I find that although they do work best along side some paracetamol or something that when I use these I don't need to reach for really strong pain killers which I would have done in the past. They are so easy to use as well and leave no residue on the skin from the gel strip and as far as I can tell the only negative to this product is you can hardly walk round Tesco's with one of them stuck to your head for example as you would look rather silly but in all honesty when I get hit with the kind of headache that I would use these for I don't really want to go anywhere anyway! A pack of four of these will cost you around £3-£3.50 but they do last a good while given you don't need to use them with every headache and so I think they are a good buy personally and would certainly buy them again. Thank you for reading my review!
(N.B I am writing this review from my partner's point of view as he wanted everyone to know about this product but is too lazy to write the review himself!) My partner suffers from migraines on a monthly basis and we have searched high and low for a remedy to ease his dull ache and allow him to lead a semi-normal life. When he gets them, he has dense and ongoing pain and what feels like pounding at the temples and an ache behind the eyes which causes his vision to be blurry. This normally means he calls in sick on this day (his boss sure is not a happy bunny!) and he always seems down when this occurs. So this month when he told me he was having another one, on my way home from work I popped into a local chemist to grab him some painkillers and this box caught my eye. I paid around £5 from it in my local chemist, although I am sure they were ripping me off (because they can!) as I have since seen it in boots for about £4. The product is basically an adhesive strip measuring 5 x 12 cm covered in a transparent pale blue "cooling" type of gel on a supporting sheet. The gel contains an active ingredient of levomenthol which is like a painkiller to reduce the feeling of the pain. The ingredients are all natural so a more authentic way to relieve pain and tension without a whole load of chemicals that may be bad for him! Anyway I digress... Inside the box there are 8 strips in laminate sachets with 2 strips per sachet. As there are 2 in a packet, it is vital to ensure once one is removed, to reseal the pack so the other doesn't dry out...don't want to be throwing money away now! The side with the gel is covered with a transparent film which is to be removed and then apply this directly to the forehead (or you can cut it and apply it however you like, e.g. to the temples for pain in that area). My partner then applied it to his forehead (with my help of course!) and sat in a darkened room as harsh lights and noise don't help. In respect to this product he could feel the relief instantly and said the pain definitely started to go away. However the main downside is that as effective as it is, the strips arent effective for too long and within 45 minutes the feeling began to wear off and he was requesting another. One strip cannot be reused so once he feels the pain again it is to be thrown away and we are onto the next one! Bit disappointing really as they are great, but could be as he has severe migraines they are not sufficient to keep his at bay for long periods of time, but for him 45 minutes is quite long! Generally when he has his migraines he just sleeps all day so he did find the energy to be up and about and do a few things around the house with this on, as opposed to laying in bed feeling sorry for himself! So for this I will give it a generous 4 dooyoo stars as it makes my life just that much easier, just wish they had a bit more longevity as he get's through a pack fairly quickly!
==4Head Quick Strip== Not being able to take anything other than Paracetamol when pregnant trying things such as these 4Head quick strips was well worth a shot. I already had the actual 4Head stick that is used to rub a bit of the highly scented and strangely cooling product across the forehead but this seems to not give much long lasting effect and I was hoping that maybe these Quick Strips would give a longer lasting relief from my headaches and general sinus type face pain I seem to suffer with so badly when pregnant. These 4 Head Quick Strips seem to be available in most chemists and I have seen them for more or less the same price in both my local Boots and Lloyd's pharmacies. I paid around £3.50 pence for a box of these strips and inside there are 4 strips which are roughly around the size of a standard forehead. They state they can be cut down to size if required but I didn't feel the need to do this as they seemed to be the perfect size to cover my head. This price is not especially cheap but when your in pain and can't take anything other than paracetamol then I was more than happy to pay out. Each of the four strips are individually wrapped inside the cardboard box and they are easily peeled open to reveal the blue strip of product which is to be placed against the forehead. It must be said that the skin should be dry and clean to make the most of the strip and allow it to stick effectively and for the longest period of time. The strip is not sticky in the conventional glue type stickiness but has this hydro-gel type formula which adheres to the skin without leaving any sort of nasty residue on the skins surface. As soon as I applied the strip to my head I did feel the cooling effect and it gave me a nice bit of relief which definitely went to sooth my sore head and make me feel a little bit more like me. Of course I did feel a little bit silly and its not something that I could use at work without a few laughs at my expense but then with a headache like I had the only place I wanted to be was in bed or on the sofa and any relief was welcome no matter how silly it made me look. The box states that the strip can last for up to 6 hours but I think after a couple of hours the cooling effect of the strip did seem to lessen and my head ache did seem to ease thus the need for the strip wasn't so much. The strips aren't reusable to as soon as they come off of the head they need to be disposed of and if you try to reapply the gel doesn't adhere to the skin as well and the cooling effective is not nearly as effective as the first use. A new strip is ideally needed. Overall I have to say that these strips although expensive for what they are and the fact that they did make me look a little silly, did give me a soothing and cooling relief that I much needed. They aided in ridding my headache and alongside the paracetamol I would highly recommend them. I have seen similar strips on the shelves of Poundland though I haven't personally used them so I am not sure how effective they are. These 4 Head strips are well worth giving a go if you have one of those headaches that just can't be shifted or like me you can't take any medicine which will give the relief needed. I think for the reason that they rid me of my throbbing head I am more than happy to award a 5 out of 5 star rating. I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you many thanks for taking the time to read.
Whenever I've had a headache, I've always taken a couple of painkillers and that was that. But this 4Head Quickstrip is one of those products that you see on the shelf in the supermarket that makes you start thinking 'Could this calm my headache even quicker than taking painkillers?' After all, when you have a headache, you want to get rid of it as fast as possible, and this idea of trying a new approach to headache eradication by placing a cool strip across your forehead sounded interesting. So we thought that we would give it a try. We paid £3.20 for this from the supermarket. They are marketed for headache and migraine relief, and you get 4 patches, or strips as they call them in a packet. Looking at the details and the instructions supplied, each strip is what they call a hydro-gel strip, which basically means that it is soft, flexible and contains a liquid gel. That gel contains something called natural levomenthol which apparently is a type of peppermint and hence they claim that this product is 100% natural. The claim is that this ingredient is a powerful natural painkiller that can block the pain signals causing tension type headaches. But when it is sealed into this strip, I'm not sure how it is meant to transfer to your head to stop your headache. The main selling point besides the fact that the product is 100% natural is that you don't need to take anything internally, as you would with normal painkillers. This 4Head Quickstrip is applied externally. When applied, it gives a cooling effect to the skin and I think this is achieved by it being a moisture absorbing material, so as it absorbs the moisture away from your skin, than makes the skin in that area (your forehead for example) cooler. The process is all chemical, and hence there is no need for prior refrigeration of the product which is useful meaning you can carry them in your bag or keep them in the car and use them immediately as required. You would normally apply it to either your forehead or the back of your neck, or the strip can be cut in order to apply tabs to your temples. The cooling effect is meant to make you relax and the natural levomenthol is meant to act as the painkiller to take your headache away. So what is it like to actually use? The first time I used one of the strips was when I came home from work with a headache. You open the box and take out the strip which is sealed within a resealable plastic pouch, where they are sealed in packs of 2. Of note, once you remove a strip it advises that you should reseal the pouch to prevent the other strip from drying out. Each strip is about 12 cm long by 5 cm wide and pale blue in colour. The idea is that you peel off the film from the back of the strip and stick the strip to your forehead. When I first put it on, it was very cooling, and they claim that it should last for up to 6 hours. But after a short while, it seemed to lose its' cooling effect as my body heated it up, and then it didn't really seem to be doing anything after an hour or so, and it didn't seem to be having any effect of my headache. After about 2 hours, I sort of gave up and took the strip off and threw it away. To be fair, I did try another strip about a week later and roughly the same thing happened - the coolness didn't last that long and it too failed to clear my headache. I'm always sceptical about these new sorts of products that claim to take away your headache without actually entering into your body. Whilst the cooling strip on the forehead or the back of your neck may be good at relaxing you, and it certainly was pleasant for me while it lasted, it doesn't really appear to last that long. The other issue is the practicality of it. If you are at work and you have a headache, you can normally take 2 painkiller tablets with some water and that is it - no one needs to know. Probably not that fast acting, but they often will work given time. But with these strips, would you really want to sit in your office for up to 6 hours with this 12cm by 5cm light blue gel strip stuck to your forehead? Probably not. So for me, this wasn't really a good product and especially not one that lives up to it's claims. So only one star from me and not recommended.
I have been after these for a while and it is only when I have a headache that I remember. However in Boots recently I got a few things to make it up to a certain amount and this was one of the products. It is called 4head Quickstrips and is by the same company as the product you roll on your forehead. The idea is that you apply this patch to your forehead for instant cooling relief. The box is like in the picture, pink with a picture of a women wearing the strip. It says it provides relief for migraines and severe headaches and helps relax tense head and neck muscles, lasting up to six hours. This works through advanced biophillic technology (whatever that is) and with natural levomenthol which reinforces the feeling of coldness. So upon getting a headache I opened the box and took out one of the four strips. There are two pouches inside each with 2 strips and it advises you to fold the pouch back over to keep the air out. Taking the strip it is soft and squidgy with one side containing the blue gel. Peel back the paper covering this side and stick to your forehead. I found that you can move this after application if needs be without it losing its stickiness. It felt cool on my forehead but not really in the way I was expecting. I guess I was thinking along the lines of heat patches, thinking this would go cold. But it doesn't, it just is cold. It is the nature of the gel that feels cold. I would often rub the strip so that I could feel the coldness again as it often disappears but I will admit sometimes it was just the novelty of having it on my forehead that made me move it around. I found the claims of six hours to be true, probably a little longer. It didn't make my headache go away but then again it doesn't claim to. Whether this beats the effects of sticking a cold flannel on your forehead, I would probably say no, but it is certainly a lot more practical! You can also use this on your neck. This can be used with or without oral medication and can be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding. It can be used by anyone over 12.
