Was given this cooker by a family member, found it very easy to install and get going, the manual is very easy to follow.
The black glass top with the rings under it makes the hob top look cool and it very easy to keep clean. A special hob cleaner is recommended. The rings heat up and cool down very quickly giving good control. There is a speed cook ring for fast heating and one of the rear rings can be turned on fully or the inter part can be turned on effectively making it a small ring if needed
I love the grill design, there are three self rails and the self is offset, this gives six grilling levels. You also have the option to use half the grill. The grill can also be turned in to a small top oven, saving energy.
The oven is fan assisted, great for cooking the turkey and for baking those cakes and buns. I would not go back to at standard oven. Good room and plenty of self rails. All the control knobs push in when not in use, giving a very tidy sleek look to the unit.
There is a clock and timer, I have never used it, as I like to turn the big isolator switch off when I am not using the cooker for safety. But at turn on, the two ovens are disabled until you press a sequence of buttons. This really frustrated me as I kept forgetting the sequence having to go back to the manual find the page etc. I now have the sequence printed on a label and concealed inside the cupboard door next the cooker.
I bought one of these to replace a much older cooker unit recently, and what attracted me initially was the ceramic hobs. For those who may not be familiar, these types of oven have a completely flat top which looks like black glass, and the heating elements are underneath the glass.
Obviously this makes keeping the hobs clean much easier - and they look quite nifty too. One thing to beware is the temptation to use the flat surface to put things on - don't do it!
Hotpoint have always been a good make for ovens, and this model is no exception or let-down. The hobs work well, and the double oven feature is brilliant, not only saving electricity as the area heated is much smaller, but also allowing you do actually cook different items at different temperatures. The fan oven section works as advertised - the results come out nice and evenly browned.
There is a digital clock which is permanently on, and you can make use of timing functions should you wish.
The only fault I had on mine was the the screws holding one side of the top oven shelf slot had been mounted too high, which I spent a few minutes trying to sort out. Rather worrying as there were all sorts of stickers proclaiming 'quality tested' with the instructions. That said, the build quality otherwise really is very good, and it feels very solid.
