When I was younger, I always remember my sister had a Wendy House. Though it was a bit girly, I always remember me and my mates used to hijack it as our Army HeadQuarters where we would plan our next plan of action and ready our water pistols for attack!
Now, many, many years later (don't ask how many!), the humble Wendy House is a thing of the past with much better and far improved variations available on the market. You can spend several hundred pounds on childrens playhouses in this day and age, but thankfully, you don't have to break the bank to buy a second home; all be it one only designed for kids!
Manufacturers Mookie offer just one such cheaper alternative to the more expensive versions on the market. Currently priced at around £107 which does sem a bit steep, I am sure we got ours a couple of years ago for far less; around £70-£80! As I recall, it might well have been on sale!
Anyway, the house is easily assembled and made of durable plastic meaning it can stay outside all year round. It comes with stickers that can be placed strategically on certain designated areas of the house but please be aware that these will soon fade aNd that, with rain and sleet, are prone to deterioration after only about six months or so! There is no flooring, only four walls and a roof, and also be aware that wherever you put this in your garden, parts of your grassy lawn are going to die as this is a bit cumbersome and awkward to move about once it is in place!
Each of the walls has a window and the front is accesible by two swinging doors that even when shut still leave plenty of open space so you can dsee inside the house and keep an eye on your little ones. There is room inside for two average or three smaller sized toddlers. The two windows on either side of the house also come with windowsills but these are only clipped on and come off a little too easily! Also, one of the doors on our model has broken a little where it attaches to the doorframe through a little bit of rough play so these are not that well made even though they look quite cool when first erected!
My daughter loves her house but doesn't often go inside because of bugs and spiders from the garden which can easily bgain access due to it being so open. Still, this is an okay sort of a buy if you are on a budget though if you have got more money, I think I would reccommend seeing what else is available on the market first!
This toy house is good then but not perfect and can be blown over fairly easily in strong winds despite it being awkward for you to lift or move about! Certainly there is much better alternatives out there......
