Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park is located in Bembridge on the Isle of Wight. It has been established for over 50 years and is a fantastic place for a family holiday. My family have been visiting Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park for over 7 years now and for us a summer holiday would not be the same if we didn't visit Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park. The Holiday Park is set in the countryside and has everything on site you could wish for - ideal for those who don't want to venture off site, although it would be a shame to visit the beautiful Isle of Wight and not go sightseeing. The facilities offered by Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park include an outdoor swimming pool, an indoor swimming pool with a water slide and a separate toddler pool, there is also a sauna and solarium located within the swimming pool area. There is an outdoor play area for the children with swings and slides etc, Humphrays Play Zone is an area of soft blocks etc for young children, there is also a crazy golf course, petanque, table tennis, snooker and pool tables, a fitness studio, indoor bowling, darts, go karts, an amusement arcade and an indoor sports hall. For the older children there is a disco held most nights in the leisure centre. If the energetic lifestyle doesn't appeal you can take a leisurely stroll down to the sandy beach and relax. The beach is privately owned and is well sheltered by the cliffs. On the beach there is a small shop and a cafe to purchase drinks and ice creams etc, sadly though there are no toilets and it is an uphill walk back to the top of the cliff to the nearest toilet, approximately 5 minutes. After a day on the beach and walking back up the steep hill you can stop off at the Nab Bar for a well earned drink! The Nab Bar serves a variety of food such as baguettes and hot snacks and is reasonably priced. The bar area looks out over the outdoor swimming pool and is for adults only but there is a conservatory built
onto the back for families and also tables and chairs outside which provide a great view of Whitecliff Bay, perfect for a relaxing evening. There is also a waitress service restaurant which serves breakfast every morning and evening meals. For the more lively there is the Culver Club, a large entertainments hall which has live entertainment every evening including, nightly bingo, nightly childrens activities, including visits from Humphray Bear and the entertainments team until 7.30pm and then the children can go and watch a film in the childrens room whilst the bingo is being played. There is in house entertainment such as the staff cabarets as well as visiting cabarets and comedians etc. Every night at 8.30pm there is party dancing - fun for all the family - time for the youngsters to groan as Mum and Dad perform the Birdy Song or Agadoo, but great fun nevertheless. The Culver Club has a snack bar which serves a variety of reasonably priced snacks such as hotdogs, chinese, pizzas, burgers etc and of course sweets and popcorn for the children. If you prefer to eat indoors the site shop stocks a wide range of foods as well as small gifts and postcards. The Holiday Park also has a launderette, hairdresser and a Doctors Surgery, which hopefully you won't need. A resident photographer visits the Culver Club most evenings and takes family photos or individual photographs which are reasonably priced and are a great momento of your holiday. One evening Humphray Bear, the childrens entertainer, comes along and poses for pictures with the children. Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park also run some specialist weeks, for example twice a year they hold a Country and Western Festival, they also hold a Traditional English Folk Holiday twice a year with Folk Music and Dancing etc, in September they hold a Game Show Week and also in September there is a cabaret week - I have not attended any of these specialist weeks but have heard from o
thers that they are great fun. There is a wide choice of accommodation ranging from small chalets to sleep 1-2 to larger holiday homes which sleep up to 6. There are also caravans available and chalets specially adapted for disabled visitors. Most of the chalets are double glazed and they all have central heating and their own bathroom with either a shower or bath. All chalets have a television and some have a video and microwave. The chalets are confortable and perfectly adequate for the active family. Each chalet has its own balcony with a couple of chairs and there is an area where you can hang your wet swimsuits etc to dry. Accommodation ranges in price from approximately £250 for a 4 berth chalet out of season to approximately £420 in high season. Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park also has pitches for touring caravans, motor homes and tents. If you are competitive there are plenty of competitions running throughout the week including competitions for children, ladies and gents, for example darts, pool, pentanque, table tennis etc. There is also a fancy dress competition and a talent competition for both children and adults. The weekly prize is a free return visit in October to take part in the finals. Miss Whitecliff Bay is also a popular competition, this competition is held weekly and all weekly heat winners are invited back in October to take part in the finals - which I have to add I have done, although I didn't win it was a great weekend and best of all it was free and all finalists received a bottle of bubbly and some sweets. If however you want a quiet holiday without all the entertainment don't be put off, Whitecliff Bay is still the perfect setting and despite being a busy site it is not noisy at night. For a fantastic holiday on a beautiful Island Whitecliff Bay is the perfect location. Many who visit for the first time will want to return year after year.
