Perhaps my case is rare but it is worth mentioning. I purchased a car with a 12 month warranty with Warranty Direct through a dealer and 76 days into the warranty I was involved in a car accident, (through no fault on my part) and unfortunately, the vehicle was declared a write-off by my insurer. I contacted both the dealer and Warranty Direct to claim any form of refund in view of the remaining 289 days unused but was told I was entitled to nothing. The dealer informed me that I wouldn't be able to claim a refund. Warranty Direct have told me that, "We did not sell you this (warranty), we simply administer it on behalf of the dealer. I therefore regret Warranty Direct is unable to assist you in this matter." I thought that having a 12 month warranty with Warranty Direct meant I was a customer of Warranty Direct. This is clearly not the case. Warranty Direct should make customers aware that Warranty Direct will not be responsible for Warranty Direct warranties issued via a dealer and in the event of an accident no refunds will be issued.
I had an 05 plate BMW 530d. Horrible car, loads of problems. Warranty direct were useless, failed miserably to help in any way. The last straw was after the claims supervisor agreed to pay the last claim, within 3 days he was uncontactable, then his boss claimed he had moved department and refused the claim or to track the guy down and talk to him. Of course the telephone recordings had been "lost" and there was no record of the agreement. I just cancelled the direct debit and never touched them again.To re-iterate, DO NOT TOUCH WARRANTY DIRECT!!
They rubbed me off my money, they are not reliable. Be warned!! disappointed and had to cancel my policy with them.
I have had a warranty with Warranty Direct for 5 years now, & have claimed twice in the last 18 months. On both occasions, they handle the claim very professionally & were extremely helpful in making sure that I claimed for everything that I could, with minimum fuss or effort. They worked with my garage to fix the problems I had, & made the process very stress free & easy. I was in Europe on business, & I did not even have to speak to Warranty Direct - they liaised directly with the garage, & I received a text from them authorising my claim & the amount on the same day - amazing service. In fact, the garage commented on how impressed they were with the service offered - which is something, coming from a garage who deal with these companies every day, is praise indeed. The level of cover is excellent the price & I can not reccomend Warranty direct highly enough - they really do offer value for money & peace of mind.
The dirth of regulation governing provision of extended warranties is allowing companies such as Warranty Direct to collect premiums for years (7 in my case) only to reject claims based on spurious excuses. Even though it is obvious the company is in breach, the time and effort taken to pursue the claim will wear you down. In the end I purchased a new item to avoid the stress of dealing with Warranty Direct. The 7 years premiums would have replaced that item twice over. No wonder the premium appears to be so reasonable. Of course it would be; it's no better than a ponzi scheme.
I have been with Warranty Direct now for 4 years, first car I had the rear clutch housing crack (automatic) at first it was declined as wear by an engineer when he went to the repair garage, they then phoned me and I phoned Warranty Direct and was put through to a senior adviser, after a short conversation he said I don't know what the problem is, it is covered, he then phoned the repair garage and gave the go ahead for a full recon of the box, just short of £2000.00. A few days later I had the ABS light come on, took it back to where the gear box had been reconditioned and told them to sort it out, it took them a day to come up with the cause, reluctor ring in front wheel bearing had broken, I told them to repair it, that's where the problem came as I had or the garage, had not informed them first, for an engineer to give the go ahead, lesson learned I had to pay. Always get the garage to contact Warranty Direct first to get authorization, you then pay the cost on completion of repair and then reclaim back from Warranty Direct, normally you are reimbursed within 10 days, I have had no problem. When changing the car they changed the policy over to the new car, as I had a cover for 3 months with the new car, they suspended the policy for that period and automatically started again on the day the 3 month cover ended, since then I have had various claims one for a Torque convertor this year,over £500.00, and no problems even when in Switzerland last year I broke down, was taken on a trailer to a garage were I phoned Warranty Direct to inform them of my problem then claimed successfully on returning to the U.K. I took out an extra option this year so that I do not have to pay a % towards the replacement parts, only have to pay the agreed excess, which when taking out the policy you can discuss with them to get the best deal. My car is a 54 Reg. they do what they say, as it says on the can.
I joined Warranty Direct 2 years ago, I have an old car and not much money, I weighed things up and decided it would be worth the premium. The assistant looked into my needs and found me the best deal. I don't even have to pay an excess. I had an MOT recently and the car failed with a leaky shock absorber, I instantly thought, I bet it's not covered, but to my amazement it was. I spoke to a very nice guy ant Warranty Direct, he rang my garage and I didn't have to do anything else. With the age of my car I had to pay half the cost of the parts, but that was nothing compared to the total bill. The payment due to me will go straight into my bank account. No fuss, no mess, very quick and reliable service. I hope it's as good if I need to claim again. I would certainly recommend this to other people in a similar situation to me.
Had a few warranties with other companies before and when claimed always had issues ( not covered, wear and tear, my fault, minor servicing issues, not following claims procedure). Anyway took warranty on my 2006 Touareg last year as a friend had just had a £6,ooo bill on his. No claims then dash went crazy brakes spongy so took to dealer diagnosed brake pressure sensor in ABS traction control? Rang Warranty Direct from garage they agreed repair and car booked in same day, car repaired v good job as well. When I checked the warranty book this part is not specifically covered so were very fair in paying for it under their sensor cover. They sent me claim form ( very easy) and sent me cheque within 3 days, now my stupid postman put it through wrong flat which is empty ( found this out later) I rang them to say no cheque they sent me a new one out next day and also called me to say it had been sent. I am also disabled following a neck injury and they bent over backwards to get the car back on the road, which was well appreciated. Whilst some people on here have criticised them I can not think of anything more they could have done above what they have. Or how the staff could have been any more helpful. Also they were half price of WV who would NOT have covered this switch!!!! Hope this helps anyone needing a warranty and well done to them. Chris
Took out extended warranty on my four year old Audi A4 and within a couple of months a warning light appeared on the control panel. I was informed by my local independent garage that a replacement throttle valve assembly was required. The garage contacted Warranty Direct and received confirmation from them that the failure was covered under my policy with them. The garage ordered and fitted the replacement part/s and I was on the road again within a couple of days. I had to pay for the total cost of this work but was reimbursed fully (minus excess), no questions asked, in a matter of days by the Insurer. If I had chosen to nominate an Audi dealer as a repairer on the policy then my premium would have been increased but I chose my trustworthy local garage in an effort to keep my own costs down. Also if I had selected one of Warranty Direct's group of garages then the repair bill would have been sent through to WD directly. All in all, I am glad that I took out extended warranty insurance and from my experience with Warranty Direct I have no complaints whatsoever.
Was unsure at first which warranty company to go with as there ate quite a few out there all offering different things and as i have a bmw i wanted to make sure the warranty i get covers me properly, so i decided to go with warranty direct as they had the best level of cover and was only a few pounds more than the cheapest i could find, and i am so glad i did because sadly my has since broken down and the warranty cover could not have been better all i had to do was pop my bmw up to my local bmw dealer as i had chosen to pay a bit more as i prefer to use main dealer and told them i had warranty with warranty direct and they contacted them and dealt with it all with out me having to do a thing or worry about anything! I now have my car back all fixed and i am a very happy man!!
I inherited my warrantydirect policy from the previous owner of my car (who kindly transferred it to me). I was originally quite dubious as to how useful it would be having read some comments on internet forums about companies not paying out for claims etc. Also, I am usually someone who would prefer to save money and pay for maintenance out of my own pocket if the worst was to happen. However, I have nothing but praise for my dealings with warrantydirect. They are so simple to deal with - the garage phones through and logs the claim, the work is carried out and warranty direct send a cheque through the post. I must say I was blown away by how good warranty direct, are seeing as I am usually cynical when it comes to things like insurance payouts etc. For example, I had to get the two chain tensioners replaced on my BMW M3, which involved an engine strip-down, and WD covered almost the complete cost (£800 of a £1000 bill). Much impressed, and would recommend.
After previously having a WarrantyDirect policy I decided to take out another policy in December 2011 when the manufacturers warranty expired. I took a monthly policy as wasn't planning to keep hold of the car and may need to cancel the policy. I had assumed that it would be a 30 day notice and then that was it. When cancelling today was told that there is a one month penalty for cancelling (Would have been £50 if had annual policy) and this one month doesn't extent the warranty for that period of time and you don't get any rebate for the period of time you have paid. This means that if you plan to sell the car you would have to keep the policy in place until the date of sale and then pay this penalty to cancel. Like I said no problem with the policy (Never made a claim though) but this is another company using administration fees to generate income. Unfortunately I will not be using them again
Warranty Direct. I have used this company since I decided to buy second hand cars. I buy my cars when they have approximately six months left on their warranty. I also make sure that they are one owner and have full franchised dealer service history. The Mercedes, BMW and Saab Dealers have been happy to carry out an inspection of the car and will then undertake any warranty work required before the warranty expires. The advantage is that the cars are in as perfect condition at this point with no known faults. To underwrite my risk I then take out the top policy with Warranty Direct. This gives me the comfort of knowing that if a major catastrophe occurs I will be covered by their warranty and will only have to pay £25 towards the repair instead of potentially being at risk to the tune of thousands of pound. I have claimed and they settlement process has been prompt. I have always paid the bill and then made the claim. The operators on the telephone have always been helpful although I have sometimes had to queue on the telephone. I mentioned this to them and they explained they were aware of this and would be taking on more staff. Again it is nice to have a positive responses to my comments. Well Warranty Direct, keep it up.
I have been very impressed with Warrantydirect's handling of my claim for a large expensive fault with the engine on our car. From the outset when the fault arose, to getting the authorisation and also ensuring that the repair garage wasn't ripping me off Warrantydirect were proactive and helpful. The claim representative dealing with my case always knew me on the telephone and displayed confidence and knowledge in seeing the work through at the right price. For a high mileage car the amount reimbursed was quite significant and a huge relief when it came to the impact on my purse. I would strongly recommend Warrantydirect as an affordable and responsive way to maintain your car warranty on an ageing car.
I decided to take out a warranty policy with Warranty Direct to give me peace of mind in case of a significant breakdown. Just a couple of months after I had renewed the policy the engine management warning light indicated the car had a problem. I rang Warranty Direct and was told to take the car into the garage and they would then liaise with them regarding the repair. On delivering the car to the garage I was informed that a diagnostic check alone would cost about £80. Subsequently I was informed by the garage that some/all the glow plugs needed replacing and the cost could be in excess of £300. I requested the garage to contact Warranty Direct to authorise the repair. Warranty Direct gave the go ahead (having managed to negotiate the price down to approximately £150). When repaired I collected the car, paid the invoice and submitted a claim to Warranty Direct. I was reimbursed very quickly. Bearing in mind the price I would have had to pay for a "private repair" this claim alone has just about covered the cost of my policy. I have found all Warranty Direct staff very helpful and friendly to deal with and been very impressed with their no messing about, no quibbles attitude to dealing with my claim. I thoroughly recommend them.
