“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Mouthwash / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / What it does: Refreshes, „
I buy this mouthwash from my local Tesco store. It is priced at around 50p. The price tends to vary week by week but it's never priced at more than 70p.
The mouthwash is freshmint flavoured and coloured green. The bottle is made of transparent plastic and the volume of the bottle is 500ml. You can use the cap to dispense the mouthwash, although I tend to just swig it from the bottle as it is only myself that uses it. You're not really supposed to do this though!
The mouthwash has a pleasant aroma which I will describe as quite fresh and minty. The taste of the mouthwash isn't too strong, unlike Listerine which is far too strong for my liking. It doesn't make your eyes water or anything and the aftertaste is pleasant.
After using the mouthwash my mouth feels a whole lot cleaner and fresher. The mouthwash helps to freshen up my mouth and gums without damaging my teeth. I have a few fillings and this mouthwash is fine to use alongside the fillings. The mouthwash contains antibacterial ingredients that help to fight plaque and tartar build up. The mouthwash is mild and gentle. It isn't harsh in any way and it can be used daily after brushing. I sometimes use it in between brushing to refresh my mouth after eating.
I would recommend this mouthwash. It's cheap enough and it does the job.
As part of my teeth cleaning routine the last thing I always use after cleaning and flossing is mouth wash, to be honest I'm not overly fussy on what brand or flavour mouthwash I use, I'm not too keen on ones which are so strong it feels like a layer of skin has been burnt from your mouth but other than that for me any will do. The other week when shopping in Tesco I remembered that I had almost run out of my current mouthwash so I dashed back to where the mouthwash was and grabbed a bottle. I noticed that Tesco did their own brand, this was one I had not tried before so I decided to give it a go, it wasn't very expensive so if it was really disgusting I hadn't wasted that much money. There were 2 flavours, I cannot remember what the other flavour was only that it was blue in colour, but the one I chose was Daily Care Freshmint.
The mouthwash comes in a totally clear plastic bottle which is wide towards the bottom and has quite a long thin neck this clearly displays the bright green liquid inside, it has a large white plastic lid, the lid is textured apart from 2 smooth sections either side of it, to open the lid you simply squeeze the 2 smooth areas and turn, this can be a little tricky especially with a new bottle, however it does make the bottle child proof making it difficult for a child to get hold of the mouthwash and drinking it. Directions of how to open the lid are written on the lid within the plastic itself. There is a mint green rectangle label stuck to the front of the bottle, this has a white wavy line going down the whole length of the right hand side of the label, and written down the left hand side of the label are the words "Daily care" this is written in white capitol letters and stands out against the mint green background. The word Tesco is written above this but in much smaller and a slightly light mint green written meaning it does not stand out as much against the label. Across the middle of the label is written "Freshmint" (the flavour of the mouthwash, this is in dark green writing outlined with a thin white border to make it stand out, underneath this is written "mouthwash with antibacterial agent" again in the same green writing. Towards the centre of the label is a small white logo with "approved British dental health foundation" written in a circle around the logo, this is all in white but to be honest is very hard to read I actually struggled to find out what it actually said. Right at the bottom of the label are a list of things which the mouthwash claims to do with a dark green tick next to each one.
The label on the back of the bottle is totally white and covered in small dark green writing, this consists of ingredients, a list of what the mouthwash claims to do (repeated on the front of the bottle) directions of use, warnings and a sentence about the British Dental Health Foundation. All of this information is very easy to read and the dark green writing stands out clearly against the pure white background. The packaging is quite plain really and with most of the writing on it being for information, there are not pictures or any fancy writing, just the facts and figures about the mouthwash, and what you need to know about it.
When I first opened the mouthwash it smelt quite strong, it was more of a strong mint smell rather than an alcohol smell, this did concern me a little as I thought it was going to be far too strong for me. Despite the strong smell of the mouthwash I gave it a go, the taste of it was quite strong, much stronger than my previous mouthwash I had been using but not unpleasant and not so strong that it burnt my mouth, the freshmint flavour really left my whole mouth feel clean. I was pleased that the only flavour I could taste was the mint, some cheaper mouthwashes tend to taste mainly of alcohol with a very faint hint of mint, but with the Tesco Freshmint mouthwash the only flavour I could taste was the mint, there was no trace of the alcohol flavour at all. The next test for the mouthwash was whether the freshness and minty flavour was going to last and stay with me, again some cheaper mouthwashes leave your mouth fresh and minty for a little while after use but within an hour the feeling has worn off and you may as well not have used it in the first place. Obviously as time went on the mintyness did start to wear off a little but I was surprised at how long the minty freshness stayed with me, it really did leave my mouth feeling clean and fresh for several hours afterwards, I do not say as long as some of the expensive mouthwashes you can buy but I was very impressed with its performance considering how little it had cost me.
Directions of Use
Press the finger pads on the sides of the lid to remove it
Rinse a full cap of undiluted mouthwash around your mouth morning and night or as required throughout the day
Replace the cap by turning until it clicks
There are 6 things on the front and back of the bottle which Tesco Freshmint Mouthwash claims to do these are -
Protects against plaque a major cause of gum disease
Gives fresh breath
Fights bacteria which causes bad breath
Fights tooth decay
Strengthens and remineralises tooth enamel
Protects against cavities
Now I am not a dentist so cannot really comment on whether my tooth enamel has been strengthened and so on by using this mouthwash, however I have recently been to the dentist since using the mouthwash and she had no complaints with my teeth, the only thing I can confirm is that it really does freshen your breath leaving your mouth feeling clean and fresh for several hours after use. The Logo on the front of the bottle is there to demonstrate that the British dental Health Foundation recognises that Tesco Daily Care Freshmint mouthwash is a useful aid in dental health care, this is also written on the back of the bottle under the heading "Additional Information".
Tesco Daily Care Freshmint mouthwash was a real bargain and only cost me 49p for a 500ml bottle, whilst the instructions suggest using a full cap of mouthwash I do not always use this much, even if you do choose to use the full cap each time this product will last a long time, I have had my bottle for a few weeks now using it on a daily basis and am not even half way through the bottle, so 49p for a mouthwash that lasts a long while and is of an excellent quality is very good value for money.
Overall I would definitely recommend this product, I was a bit dubious at first, to start with whether it would be any good basically, this was my thought based purely on the price, and secondly after smelling the product I had a feeling it was going to be far too strong for me. However I was wrong on both accounts, the mouthwash despite being quite strong was not overpowering and it has also proved to be of excellent quality, it is cheap to buy and leaves your mouth fresh and minty for several hours after use, it is definitely one I will be using again.
I absolutely adore using dental products that leave me with a really fresh and minty taste in my mouth, so I was delighted several months ago when I first discovered Tesco Daily Care Freshmint Mouthwash.
I cannot say that the product stands out from the supermarket shelf, as in my opinion all mouthwashes tend to look the same. However, its' appearance is extremely clean and fresh as it is contained within a 500ml transparent plastic bottle, which allows you to see the vivid green liquid. We are provided with a green label on the front of the product and located in the upper left hand corner is the familiar Tesco logo. There is a white line running vertically throughout the label and in the centre we are advised that the mouthwash contains an antibacterial agent.
We are provided with an image of a smiley face where we are informed that the British Dental Health Foundation has approved the product. There is some further information on the rear of the product, which informs us that the Foundation recognises that the product is a useful aid in dental health care.
Tesco claim that the mouthwash will help protect against plaque, freshen breath, fight bacteria and help fight tooth decay. Whilst we can never be certain if the product does actually lives up to these claims, I am thrilled that at the age of 43 I have very few fillings. I have always taken good care of my teeth, particularly as I do not relish the thought of having to place them in a glass before bedtime!
To use the product we need to remove the transparent seal and turn the white plastic screw top lid whilst squeezing with both fingers. The moment the lid is removed I can smell the extremely fresh, almost breathtaking aroma of the mouthwash and a small amount should be dispensed into the lid and swished around the mouth undiluted. As the taste of this mouthwash is extremely strong I frequently find that my eyes water when using. I always feel my mouth is totally clean and fresh after I've used the mouthwash and it most definitely provides fresh breath confidence. However, I have to say that it really burns my tongue, which can at times be rather painful! You should note that when you replace the cap you should turn it clockwise until it clicks.
I've yet to find a mouthwash that will leave a fresh minty taste in my mouth for a long period of time as unfortunately, I find this product will linger for only a short while, as after approximately twenty minutes or so the taste has totally disappeared. It is recommended that the mouthwash be used morning and evening and throughout the day if required.
There is some precautionary information on the rear of the bottle, which advises that the mouthwash should not be swallowed and should be kept out of reach of children. We are also advised that this product is not suitable for those under the age of 12 years. There is a fairly lengthy list of ingredients, which I do not intend to list in this review, but I would advise that it contains rather a large percentage of alcohol!
The mouthwash should be used within 12 months of opening and the empty bottle can be recycled after use.
Would I recommend this? Most definitely yes, particularly due to its' reasonable price tag of only 49p for a 500ml bottle. I tend to use mouthwashes fairly quickly and will swish them around my mouth several times a day, as I absolutely adore the fresh minty taste. Consequently, Tesco Daily Care Freshmint Mouthwash receives 5 out of 5 stars from me.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
Recent visits to the dentist have made me enquire and ponder various mouth wash items and this was the cheapest product at the time which I found which looked as if it might work. The bottle is 500ml and is about 60p. The item is meant to be used after brushing your teeth and I do this usually straight after I brush my teeth to get rid of the smells of food but also to clean around the mouth.
I found the product instantly a smelly one because it was very strong the mint flavour and it was sometimes overpowering. Once you put some of this inside your mouth your gums can hurt if you brush hard which I tend to do often. The gums hurt because of how strong the flavour is for this item. You do not mind mouthwash which has a nice taste and does the job but this item is very strong.
Once you have been using the item and feel you have done enough work in the mouth your left with the feeling of heat in the mouth and the mint flavouring which does not disappear too quickly. I like a mouth wash which gives you a quick result and a taste but the taste disappears quickly. This item does not do this and it makes you feel as if you cannot eat or drink anything either.
The item is good to look at because you think it might work and it does leave the mouth feeling fresh but it is just the over powering smell and taste afterwards which can be a real problem with this item.
Although I like using mouthwash I can't bring mysel to spend the £2 - £4 that some brands are priced at.
I've been using the Tesco freshmint for about 2 years now and have found it to be as good and effective as any other mouthwash.
It comes in a 500ml bottle in clear plastic with a green label and Tesco branding and a stamp stating that it is British Dental Health Association Approved.
It has a white cap with a child-proof squeeze and turn seal.
The mouthwash itself is a bright green colour and smells very minty. To use you pour yourself a capful of the mouthwash and swill it around your mouth for as long as you want, although I find 30 seconds is usually enough to get that minty fresh feeling.
I have used other mouthwashes in the past which have made my gums sting and feel sensitive, but I've never had that problem with this product, so I don't think it's as harsh as other products.
The ingredients are very similar to most other mouthwashes - it contains water, alcohol and various other chemicals, but probably most importantly, it contains Fluoride at 225ppm.
It's not recomended for use by children under 12 years. The bottle is recyclable and once opened it's recommended to be used within 12 months. With twice daily use I find a bottle lasts around a month
It's hard to beat the price of this product - it's currently on sale for 49p a bottle, which is a bargain in my opinion.
I'm a great believer in using mouthwash once I've flossed & brushed my teeth & have been using the stuff for many years now in a mission to protect both my teeth & my bank balance.
I've always used leading brands such as Listerine, Aquafresh or Plax but hubby bought some Tesco mouthwash on his latest shopping trip. I was a bit dismayed but obviously had to give it a go even though I thought it wouldn't be much good because it only cost 59p!
The sturdy plastic bottle is 500ml & as is shown in the picture. It has a childproof cap - squeeze & turn) & the white cap acts as a measure for the mouthwash. It was very well sealed so I could tell no one had opened it to take a swig & I must say it smelt & looked refreshingly different from the ones I've previously used.
It's a nice shade of green & has a fairly strong spearmint smell & taste which doesn't burn the roof of my mouth (as I've found Listerine does sometimes) yet it leaves the mouth tasting fresh, my gums feeling clean & my teeth feeling polished & smooth.
It's advised that you use this 3 times per day - 1 capful each time - but I've only been using it twice per day. I wouldn't say the effects are that long-lasting but I do drink lots of coffee & tea which may be the reason the freshness doesn't last for hours. I certainly notice a difference though immediately after use.
All the ingredients are listed on the reverse of the bottle, along with direcctions for use etc. None of the names mean much to me I'm afraid but I see it contains alcohol which many people may want to steer clear of.
I'd say this is a great product for the price & I think it's definitely worth a try but if I had the choice I'd probably resort to buying my usual brands because I've used them for so many years & were recommended by my dentist - old habits die hard lol!
Dental care in my house is very important as I don't want my boys to grow up and have the same problems with their teeth as I did. As a result we have got them using mouthwash after brushing so ensure they have a good clean and everything is removed from the teeth and mouth. We decided to give this one a try mainly due to the price tag as we do get through a lot of the stuff.
The mouthwash comes in a clear bottle which means we can easily see the green liquid inside and allows me to easily see how much is left. The front of the plastic bottle has a green label which contains the product name and a bit of information about it. The back of the bottle has a white label which gives all the relevant information, directions for use and ingredients of the mouthwash.
The lid for the bottle is very simple to use as it is just a screw lid which does have a safety part which means you have to squeeze the sides of the cap to get it to screw off. This also doubles up as a small cup to allow you to measure and use the mouthwash.
~~TASTE AND USE~~
When I first opened the bottle I instantly noticed the minty smell. It was not at all overpowering as has been the case with other brands I have tried. The mouthwash is to be poured into the lid and a full lid amount is to be used. It is to be swilled around the mouth and then spat out. It is recommended that this is done 3 times a day.
For both me and hubby we do use a full lid full but for my boys as they are still only 7 5 and 2 we only use no more than a quarter of the cap. I have to say my 2 year old never allows the mouthwash to go into his mouth as he does not like the taste but we still have to pretend to let him use it!
The mouthwash does taste of mint and for me the closest thing I can describe it to would be spearmint soft mints. I did not find it to be too string and in fact it was quite pleasant. After brushing my teeth and using this mouthwash my mouth really did feel very clean and fresh. This feeling did last for quite some time afterwards and I found it was more refreshing than after using other brands.
Hubby agreed that this was the best mouthwash he had used in a very long time and my boys also said they enjoyed the taste and the way it made their mouths feel. We also both noticed how much fresher our breath was and how much longer it stayed this way after using this, well for me it did not stay fresh for too long as I am a smoker!
I will say that eating breakfast straight after using this is not really a good idea as the minty taste was noticeable when I was trying to eat my toast and it was not very nice. I have easily overcome this problem by eating breakfast first or leaving a longer time gap between using the mouthwash and then eating.
The information on the back of the bottle claims that this mouthwash protects against plaque, gives fresh breath confidence, fights bacteria which causes bad breath, fights tooth decay, strengthens and demineralise tooth enamel and protects against cavities. As I am not a professional dentist I really cannot say whether these claims are true or not but I have noticed my own and my boys teeth look so much brighter and cleaner from using this.
The ingredients of the mouthwash for those wishing to know are:-
Aqua, Alcohol, Glycerin, Xylito, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Benzoate, Aroma, Sodium Saccharin, Cetylpyridinium Chloride, Sodium Flouride, CI 18965, CI 42051,
Contains 0.05% w/w Sodium Flouride (225ppmn F)
Contains 8.64% w/w Alcohol
The bottle is plastic so it can be fully recycled once finished and it must be used within 24 months of opening. The bottle size is 500ml and for me and my family this lasts roughly 1-2 weeks.
~~PRICE AND AVAILABILITY~~
As this is a Tesco's own brand mouthwash then it is only available from their stores. It comes with a price tag of just 59p which I feel is a great bargain as it is so good.
I am definitely going to recommend this mouthwash as it gets the thumbs up for everyone in my house and I have a lovely fresh mouth and breath for a good length of time after using it. It is also so much cheaper than the leading brands.
