      Definately shop here again

I recently ordered a faux leather brown ottoman bed from Tesco On-Line and cannot in anyway fault their customer service - it was excellent. I was able to choose what day to have it delivered which included Saturday. I ordered on a Monday and had it delivered on the following Friday but could have had it sooner. There was a £5 delivery charge which I was made aware of when confirming my order and that to me seemed reasonable. I was able to input my club card number to receive points. Tesco sent me a text the day before to confirm a delivery slot of 3 hours so there was no all day waiting and said they would ring an hour before delivery to confirm they were on their way which they did. Not only that, it was the delivery person who I spoke to which I felt gained more confidence than if a customer service rep had rang. The delivery people were very pleasant and friendly. I highly rate the service I received here and will definitely order from Tesco again. As for the ottoman bed it is lovely. My father in law put it up without too much difficulty in a few hours and it looks fabulous. It is slightly different to some other ottoman beds I have looked at as it has a base in the bottom of the storage area rather than storing straight onto the floor and I feel this adds to the quality. It is easy to lift and doesn't disturb the bedding. No problems what so ever - well done Tesco!

        Fast, efficient service

I recently broke my laptop and wanted to replace it with a netbook, looking at your usual pc and electric chains but was suggested using Tescodirect.com. I regularly shop in Tesco but had never bought anything from their site or used online shopping from their company before. I looked online for the Netbooks and found most were similarly prices to ones I had been looking at aprox £220 however there was a banner/advertisement below the item stating I could get £50 off any netbook priced £200 or more. The one I had my eye on was reduced from £249 to £219 and to my suprise I was able to get the extra discount taking it down to £169. Bargain! Next was chosing delivery, which was free and could come next day. However knowing I would be at work all day I opted to collect in store the next day from 4pm. It was very easy to do although the staff were confused to whether I could have vouchers for the current pan/pot offer. Paying for the item was simple and I connected my clubcard account and received almost £5 worth of points. I receieved an email invoice/payment notification as well as showing it on screen for those who require print outs. What I thought was a nice touch was the text I receieved stating my netbook was ready for collection (earlier than the stated 4pm collection) which was nice to know. The product was waiting for me and was straight forward to collect. I received the correct product. The only issue came a couple of days into using the product when the screen wouldn't work. I tried ringing the automated helpline which directs you onto the manufacturers website. I hung up as I wanted to speak to Tesco as I wasn't willing to have it repaired. A ndew computer should last more than 48 hours. I imediately rang another number and waited to speak to a member of staff. To my amazement he was so helpful, apologetic and arranaged for my product to be collected and a new one delivered 2 days later which was perfect. I again receievd a text stating the day of my delivery and it gave me options to change the delivery date if required. I'm using my new netbook and feel completely satisfied with any aspects of tescodirect.com. I will definitely be using this again.

DO NOT USE. Tesco are clearly focussed on their core business & not on the online side.

We bought stack beds to be delivered the day after moving back to UK so we had something to sleep on. The product description clearly said that the beds included mattresses. The beds turned up, with no mattresses; the website had since been updated to say "mattresses not included" but the description still said they were! We were offered a refund but needed somewhere to sleep so would've been cutting of our noses to spite our faces by accepting, so we bought cheap ones from Ikea. On top of this, though, bits were missing; replacement parts were promised, but then an entire bed turned up. Despite me explaining to the drivers that I only wanted parts, they didn't have paperwork to take the bed away and didn't check with head office. A few hours later, we got a call wanting to arrange pick up of the bed but this couldn't be done for half a week, meaning that we had these stupid beds taking up space for all that time. All that Tesco has offered is an insulting £15 goodwill refund, which after much complaining we've accepted as they stubbornly won't increase this. On top of all that, fuel vouchers for a groceries delivery didn't turn up; customer services promised to post them but they haven't arrived 4 days later. Frankly Tesco Direct seem to take a very arrogant "take it or leave it" attitude to customer service when things go wrong. Their groceries drivers, on the whole, have been excellent however, as are their staff in store. But Tesco need to realise how competitive the online market is for things like beds, etc. They really need to learn from the likes of Amazon and other smaller competitors. I will NEVER use Tesco Direct again for anything except groceries. This online part of their business just don't seem to care enough.

        Disadvantages

A good website which offers plenty

I have a Tesco near myself which is an Extra store and they have a Tesco Direct department which is either unoccupied by staff or it seems very deserted from everything else in the store. There website is a catalogue based website similar to how Argos is run. The website is designed like many others are which is with search tabs at the top of the screen on the main webpage and there is a search box to enter in what you might be after as well. You begin by doing a search and If I am searching for a product I tend to type it in because sometimes if you are searching for a particular item you visit all the tabs you suspect it might be located in and it is not. Next you need to work out how you narrow down the search. The website allows you to use the side menu bar which has different brand names (if you typed in televisions) and you might pick one of those or a specific television you want. You could put items in order according to price highest to lowest and vice versa. When you click on an item with the website there is plenty of things Tesco Direct give you many other websites fail to do. They give you options of alternative products to buy with the current item your looking at. With a television they give you code numbers and links to wall brackets to display the television onto or they give you information such as how many points you get on the clubcard as well. They have a price check feature on most of there products but to be honest this is slightly biased. They always put down other supermarkets they beat in terms of prices or they use other catalogue firms. They never give you information on cheaper alternatives so do remember that point. They provide plenty of descriptions and features for all there items and they have got clubcard points as well. When you are with Tesco those clubcard points can mount up and with mine when it comes to Christmas I use all mine for presents and other essentials so this again is an added bonus. Delivery can be made to the store or to your home. I got myself a product recently which was quoted as £5 delivery to my home or free to my store within 48 hours. It arrived at my store for free and I got a text to inform it arrived there so I went to fetch it. I think they have a good list of products ranging from toys to electricals and everything in between. I have a few issues mainly with the website. The pages can sometimes on my internet anyways go completely mad. I type in a specific product I want and when I try to swap pages it can either lock up that page or completely mess up my selection. Another problem I have is stock quantity with there products. Sometimes you visit a page and the website has no product stock and it never tells you when it will return and that is annoying as well. They have an easy to sign up page which is about you and your details and I like the fact you get free delivery to your home if you spend a set amount and amount clubcard points as well so that is even better.

        Take a look!

I love shopping and spending money I would go as far as to say it is my hobby well it would be if the pennies let it be! But I have two little problems that make it difficult for an enjoyable day out shopping in the city, my two sweet little boys 14 months and 2 ½! It is very rare I venture out shopping in the city with just these two. Enjoyable is not a word I can describe the experience as. So over the last two years I have been internet shopping and found it so much easier. A site I find myself using often is Tesco direct. It has grown in the last few years and seems to have got better and better. As a user of tesco.com the grocery shopping I had no problems trying the direct site. On immediate impression the site seems quite straight forward with thirteen tabs across the top with each department. There is a wide range of products available and to me it has got its look and feeling from Argos. Personally I find it leaps and bounds ahead of Asdas direct website. The thirteen departments are as follows: Pc, photo and gaming, Phones Home electrical, Sound and vision Furniture and kitchen Home and Bath DIY and Car Clothing and jewellery Sport and leisure Toys and gifts Baby and Toddler Garden And currently there is a large tab with Christmas The product descriptions are very informative and there is generally a good amount of detail. There is a brief description of the product then features such as weight, size and what it is made from. There are the delivery options that do change dependant on the particular product and a useful extra there are related products. Quite often you will find people have reviewed the product and that is often handy to read before you think about purchasing it. As you still get clubcard points with Tesco direct purchases each item tells you how many you would be rewarded if you bought this product. Clubcard points on purchases are another reason I shop at Tesco direct. You might as well buy it from here and get your points. That is of course you don't find it anywhere cheaper. I do find Tesco's to be quite competitive with their prices. Delivery options are reasonable they are split into small items, large items and large kitchen appliances. Small items are £5 for next day delivery, £6.85 for a 2 hour selected time and £5 for Saturdays. Large items are £5 and you get to choose a selected delivery time. As for large kitchen appliances it is free delivery on purchase of over £200 or £19.50 again choosing a delivery slot. For smaller items there is often the option to pick it up for free in your local store which is fine if you're able to get there. But in my case I am buying from the internet to save myself from going into town! I have never had any problems with this delivery service and found it extremely fair. A great added extra is they will text you to confirm the delivery date and time. So my personal experience with buying from this site has been great so far. I have bought from them on many occasions and have always received the item when I should have. They are very competitive on their prices and have found them to be cheaper than other site on numerous occasions but like most places not always! I would really recommend giving this site a shot next time you're on the lookout for something especially at this time of year. Tesco is a company you can trust. At the moment they seem indestructible they are always branching out in new ways. The site is easy to use and check out is straight forward to follow so you really shouldn't have any problems in my experience.

          Excellent customer services

I purchased a variety of toys for my place of work, roughly about £80.00 worth from the half price toy sale. one of which was a pop up rock star stage. This was a bit like a pop up tent easy to pop up and let the kids play within a matter of minutes. This did seem a little flimsy and after about 20 minutes one of the speakers which are attached to the sides had come unstitch and was hanging off. i decided to return this after a friend said they had pretty good customer service and it should be fine. i was struggling to find a tesco close to where i live to return the product and eventually I contacted custmer services to find out which store this could be returned to. the lady I spoke t was lovely and very sympathetic, she assured me not to worry about finding a store as they would send out a collection van for it. i was a little worried as the item had only cost aroound £10.00 and i presumed i would get charged for returning this via courier. The lady assured me there would be no charge at all and arranged a collection time for the toy to be picked up. the next day the toys was collected within the timscale agreed and i was refunded within the week. the customer service ladt was brilliant and it was such a nice change to get so much help, and get my refund and collection so fast compared to other companies i have dealt with in the past, i will definatley shop with them again.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Great service for all the family!!

I have used Tescodirect on a number of occasions within the last couple of years, and would like to share my experiences. Tescodirect (not to be confused with Tesco.com) was set up back in August 2006, in direct competition with one of the leading catlogue companies Argos. It cost Tesco approximately 30 million to set up the service, which in terms of Tesco's turnover is chicken feed. So what is it that they offer? How do they compare with Argos? Well there are similarities, obviously. Both have their goods showing online. Both can be ordered and delivered directly to your house, for a charge. However unlike, Argos, who stock most of the items in store, Tescodirect only stock a limited range, and usually you will have to wait 24 hours for the item, if you want to collect in person. If you order before 12pm you will get the item after 4pm the following day. This is obviously okay if you are in no hurry for a particular item, but if you do need an item the same day, Argos is the only place you can really rely on. Maybe as the Tesco stores get bigger, they will stock more and more of the catalogue. However I have found that although Argos appear to stock a larger range, the prices are often very much on par. I have ordered a number of items from Tescodirect and providing it was over £30, delivery to the store was free, and I always received a call from the store, to say it was in. Tesco have only ever let me down once, and that was only in a small way. I had ordered ten items, and when I arrived home, it only had nine in the box. A quick call to Customer Services credited my card back with the difference. So what other comparisons can I look at. Well with the likes of Argos, you can reserve and collect, without paying up front. Therefore if you change your mind, you have not paid out. Tesco take your money straight away. So if when you receive the item, you don't like it, you need to go through all the trouble of getting a refund. Tesco will also only keep your item in store for 14 days. Seems fair really. But if you don't collect in that time, it will be returned to the warehouse, and your card refunded accordingly. Another advantage with Tesco is that you can collect clubcard points. These certainly add up on larger items, and often there are big incentives such as free 1000 points if you spend £50 or more. These points are invaluable. In this example alone it would add upto £40 worth of deals. So would I recommend Tescodirect. Yes, without a shadow of a doubt. Argos are a great company and I use them a lot, but Tesco also are a good company. The comparisons are there to see. However I think there is a market for both companies, and competition in any industry is good. Copyright stebiz 2010 - also on ciao.co.uk

            5/5

This is just a quick review of the Tesco direct service I recieved when I used the service for the first time a few weeks ago. I was new to tesco direct (but shopped in store for ages). I was online and saw a bargain duvet cover that looked reallly cute and perfect for a spare room in my house so I decided to order it. When I found that postage was about £5 though (for a £2 item - I think its a flat rate), I was a little put off until I saw the Collect At Store option which was free. I thought this would be ok so I placed my order and it told me to wait about 3 working days, and then go and collect my thing from a store with a Direct Desk, which I selected from those nearest to my postcode. I ordered on the tuesday, planning to go at the weekend, and on the Friday, a nice lady called me and told my my order was ready for pickup which I thought was a nice touch. I went on the Saturday to get my item and at first I didnt know where to go so I queued at the customer services desk, but then they quickly redirected me to the direct desk (it was hidden around the corner and this wasn't my usual store). When I got there I handed the lasy my number for my order and had to show ID of the card I used to buy it with, and then, quite like in Argos, she went to find it for me. She emerged a few inutes later with a package all sealed up and I signed for it and went. Job done. The packae was really dusty but at last it was suficient to protect the item. Inside was my duvet cover, and my order slip showing how much I had been charged etc. this was all fine and dandy. All the people I dealt with were really nice, and the service online was quick and easy. I haven't been bombarded with offers and spam email like some other websites do, so overall I reccomend them if you use the collect in store (I can't really say for the delivery sorry)!

Classic online mail order from Tesco

Yeah so for a while now to improve my financial situation I have been completing surveys online through websites such as Valued Opinions and Lightspeedpanel.com. These two survey providers often reward you with vouchers for retailers like Amazon which I have then used to buy CD's or toys. I sell these brand new items using my eBay account and so eventually the time I spend filling out surveys is turned in to cash. Similarly when I receive my Tesco club card vouchers I like to buy sellable products that I can list on eBay. From experience I know that Lego is extremely popular on eBay but at my local Tesco supermarket they did not have the sets I wanted, I would normally purchase them from here to save paying the postage fee which can sometimes be off putting. I decided to use the Tesco direct online service which had the two Lego sets in stock that I wanted and although the postage charge was roughly £5 it was covered by my vouchers and so it didn't feel too painful to have to pay this. The parcel arrived fairly swiftly which was I was very pleased with. Unfortunately though I began to be disappointed after opening the bag in which the two sets arrived, one of the corners of the boxes was crushed. If these Lego items were for personal use there would have been no problem but as I was going to try and sell them in mint condition on eBay this was not acceptable. In business I have heard that people will definitely talk about your service to others if they have had a bad experience but probably not as much if you provide the quality service that you should have done in the first place. Sometimes though it is a good opportunity when a company makes a mistake to make a really good impression that customers will definitely tell others about and this is what happened to me. I phoned the customer services department and explained the problem I had, after all surely for £5 postage costs the Lego sets should have had a bit more packaging than just a thick plastic bag. The person on the phone understood my concern and without hesitation said that they could either send me a replacement or that they could refund me the postage costs completely and straight in to my bank account. I opted to get my shipping costs back which were in my account within a matter of days. I was very satisfied and am left with a higher opinion of this Tesco direct service than if the Lego had arrived in perfect condition in the first place.

Good website, easy to use and points too!

I am really pleased with the service I have received from Tesco Direct.com On Sunday evening I browsed the site to pick a laptop, printer and mouse on behalf of my parents - their first computer! ***Additional extras*** I used top cash back to get 4% money back and also got about 700 clubcard points (from their double deal). Paid on my 1% cash back American Express credit card too. Well there's got to be a bit of a bonus to spending hours researching and purchasing goods on behalf of your folks! **Why I chose this site*** We had a look in store before going on the tescodirect website. The store only had a small number of laptops on display and some of the information cards were missing. Online it was consistently laid out and you could play top trumps with the prices and specifications. I'm sad like that! Why Tesco? I figured that if anything goes wrong in the first 12 months, Tesco have a pretty good returns policy and treat their customers well so at least there was a physical place we could return things to easily. **Two day turnaround** The site informed me that my order would be ready for collection (free) on Tuesday after 4pm from a branch of my choice - there's a selection tool which helps you identify participating stores. Or I could have paid £5 for a delivery between 7am - 7pm. I didn't want to make my Mum have to stay in all that time so opted to pick up. You can pay more for a two-hour time delivery slot as well. **Pro-active call confirming order is ready*** On Tuesday afternoon I had a witheld call on my mobile, it was from the store informing me it was ready for collection and the desk would be open until 8pm in that particular store (it said 6pm on their website). ***Straight in, straight out** When I got to the store after work, there was no queue and I just had to provide my reference number and the card I had made the purchase on for them to tally the order. They checked the contents of the box which were correct and I was on my way. ***Struggled a bit with the size of the box** It did come in a big big cardboard box, and I struggled a bit to get it in my car and in hindsight I should have asked for help rather than struggle as it didn't fit inside a trolley so I was balancing it precariously on top and trying to see round it as I went to the car park. Possibly a two man job but I just about managed and they did ask if I wanted help and I just automatically said I could manage without thinking about it. ***Verdict*** All in all it was an efficient and postitive service, just got to get broadband set up at my parent's house which is proving to be a bit challenging but that's another story... ***Recommended!*** I managed to get cash back and points for this transaction so I'm well pleased with that and if you're wondering, yes, I did come clean to my parents and they said 'Good for you!'

Always check your order progress online to be notified of any problems

I have used Tesco Direct a couple of times and they had always given good service previously, but the last time I used them I vowed I would never use them again. The first couple of times I used them, it was mainly because I was used to shopping in Tescos and I had access to a Tesco credit card and clubcard so I wanted to make the most of getting my points. I also find the prices quite resaonable and comparable to other shops stocking the products. I have bought varied products from Tesco Direct including baby products such as a steriliser and a mattress, home appliances products such as a kettle and a toaster and toys. I have used both the collect at store option, which is free and was very simple, and the delivery to home option which carries a charge but is more convenient. However, the last time I used Tesco Direct, it was a bit of a nightmare. I was doing my Christmas shopping online and had spent ages adding things to my basket. Then I went to pay with a Tesco credit card. The order all went through fine and I was none the wiser as to anything going wrong. I went to check my order progress online the day before it was due to be delivered and found out that my order had been cancelled. I rang the helpline to find out what was wrong and found out it was because the Tesco credit card I was using is now registered at an address not in the UK. I hadn't actually been notified that my order had been cancelled which I was annoyed about as if I hadn't have checked where my delivery was, I would never have known about the cancellation. I then decided to order all my Christmas shopping from another website, but when I went to order there was a problem with the credit card I was using, which was the same one I had previously used on Tesco Direct. I then found out that the Tesco Direct website had placed a stop on the credit card. The Tesco credit card is able to be registered in a country other than the UK, but Tesco Direct will not accept orders from credit cards registered outside the UK. It seems that although these two seem to be the same company, they are in actual fact separate companies and have different rules. I do like the website, but I would never use them again as I feel they could have handled my cancelled order better.

Tesco cashing in on a catalogue of stock that other retailers have tried.

If you've shopped from places like Littlewoods and Additions in the past, your experience will be very familar to those at Tesco Direct. First and foremost, Tesco is not the cheapest place to buy. They get themselves online but still charge there loyal customers sky high high street prices. The advantage selling online should reduce prices, but Tesco and co rely to much on their already large customer base so keep prices the same. Why's this? well my quess is they use the same stock and catalogue type system as the rest of those on the high street, you even have the same courier deliver your items in the same time scale as before. What does this mean, well shop from any of this lot and your be taken for a ride. Forget about Tesco Direct, Additions Direct and the like, they are all the same sort of company but trade under different brands.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

If things go wrong Tescos Direct don't think they should do anything about it

Tescos Direct is one of the worst online services I have ever used - and I use a lot. Their initial customer service is fine, but of course that is focused on obtaining your cash which once achieved the result is an appalling level of customer service. I purchased two wardrobes from the Tescos Finest Range. Once they were unpacked the problems became clear. Despite the 'Quality Control' stamps and signatures we found that the instructions, screws and other fixings provided were for a completely different product. Tescos assured me they would get me the instructions after which I could tell them which screws I needed - they were not at all willing to send the right ones at that point. It took another couple of calls and weeks to actually get the instructions which were finally sent electronically. As I am not inexperienced at constructing furniture I began the build whilst waiting. The design of the furniture makes it very difficult to build (and it turned out I had done it the right way!). It certainly cannot be done by one person alone and not easily by two. Angles and spaces required almost a child's hand to actually put in screws, the holes did not line up and the over all quality was poor for the price (remember this is the Finest Range). In addition the instructions (very poorly written) told us to use screws that actually damaged the wardrobes as they were too long! It took a lot to get money off for that as the only other offer was to send some more wardrobes and I was not willing to start all over again. After waiting for 2 months and still not receiving the screws we resorted to buying the missing screws. It was only when the wardrobes almost finished that the final problem appeared. The instructions did not include any information fixing the up the clothes rail and there were no screws for it. It is now nearly 6 months and the wardrobes are still without a rail. The responses from Tescos include 'what do you want us to do about it', 'our systems are down can you call later?', 'we don't have any supervisors', 'our managers/supervisors are only for us, they don't talk to customers', 'the product is no longer stocked so we can't do anything', 'can't you just buy some screws from B&Q?'. I am now going to trading standards. You may be lucky, whatever you buy might be right first time....then again, this is their 'Finest Service' so beware. I certainly won't be going back.

                    Tesco Direct- Prices are good

For electronic items another choice that is getting much better for me to use is Tesco Direct. You can find electronic items, house hold items and even groceries you can shop online for them at Tesco Direct. All with the advantage of picking up clubcard points plus using online codes to save even more on the website! My first shopping experience on the site was picking up the Wii Sports Resort game online here. It was a simple process buying it online and getting it sent in just two days from the website. My second order was a 19 inch television on offer but that had a problem with it. The television came with out its cable at the back. No Tesco Direct did not sell these individually and offered me some money back into my card. I got 15 quid back of them and found the cables at a cheaper price on Ebay. They have every week some very good deals online at Tesco Direct. My only concern is the stock they have for those deals. Noticed in the past few months a lot of beds being on offer but the deals only last for a few hours. It would be much better if those deals lasted a little longer on the site. Being a shopper on here I find their customer service here to be fantastic but hope they can have more stock in for the bed deals they put in often. Tesco Direct seems to be cheaper for items that you can find on Amazon and even Argos at times. They have a huge number of deals all the time for their ACER laptops at cheap prices all the time to!

All I wanted was a Samsun Fido + cylinder vacuum cleaner. Not hard seeing as how there's not many Samsun vacuums out there. Not only did they send the wrong one, but they then sent me the same wrong one the following day!! Really not handy when there is a house full of fleas and no hoover. I called up and said I don't trust them to send me the correct one so wanted a refund. They agreed which is their one redeeming factor.
