The first English word I ever learnt was "spurs'. The kid in the playground assigned to look after me taught me this, and over the years, how I wish he'd said Man United, Liverpool, or even Arsenal.
Only kidding, who wouldn't want to be a fan of the first ever British club to win a major European trophy.
Anyway, I have been a loyal fan ever since. You have to be loyal to continue, after all the disappointments, not to mention all the managers we've had. Over twenty of them in as many years. Man Utd have a similar boast, only theirs reads 'over twenty trophies in as many years'.
It's a rollercoaster ride with Spurs. I've been supporting them all my life, and there have been some great times but usually some major disapointments.
Their website is fine but the products are a bit naff at times. I am always looking for stuff to buy for the grandchildren but they never have what I want in their sizes.
Hopefully they will realize that there is an army of youngsters waiting to be part of the Spurs March and then they will expand the product range accordingly.
I also read recently that Spurs are planning to build a 60,000 seater stadium near to the existing stadium. I can't wait!
A few more league wins and the League Cup final (subject to beating Burnley) will help.
C'mon Harry, make us happy! and hang around for a few years please!
I am a really loyal fan of Tottenham Hotspur football club and I try to get to as many home games as I can. Now that I live in Bournemouth it can be a bit difficult to get up to White Hart Lane regularly. In order that I can keep right up to date with all that is going on in and around the club, I regularly visit their website. I will try and give as detailed an account of all aspects of the site in this review.
The website it is the first place to have the very latest up-to-date news on the club and you get the official line on all of the stories. They do update the site very freqeuntly, although some parts of the site are left and that means that some out of date or non-relevant details are left on the site. There is a good example of this, as they still have a countdown for the new away kit on the site. The site has recently been improved and updated, both the speed and presentation have been made better as well as the general navigation around the site.
The sites homepage, lists all of the very latest team news for the forthcoming match. It also has new articles from the players in which they give their opinions on the season so far and their future aspirations. There is also a section for the latest injury news, giving in depth detail into their condition and when they are likely to be back in full training, ready to break back into the first team. There is a Spurs Diary, which lists the recent and future matches in all club competitions. To the right of the diary there is the very latest Premiership table, with Tottenham's position highlighted.
Throughout every page on the site, are the tabs on the left hand side and along the top. The tabs along the left hand side have links to everything on the site including: the online store, ticket information, members area and the clubs history. The taps along the top include a link for THTV and details on how to contact the club. On the very top left of each screen, there is a picture of a current Spurs star and sometimes a legend will appear. There are also a number of adverts, mostly offering finance and betting offers from some of Tottenham's sponsors and partners. There are no annoying pop-ups which is a good thing.
Every once in a while, I tend to have a look at the clubs history. The site has some really in depth detail on the clubs ups and downs right from 1885 to the present day. An interesting part is the different kits and strips that Spurs have had in their history. In the early days their home strip was once chocolate brown, before going through numerous changes to the white shirts and blue shorts that we have today. There are lists of every player to have pulled on a Spurs shirt, the legends and hall of fame, pictorial and year by year history and a list of the great games and the clubs honours.
The online store section of the website isn't very well kept up do date or really that well set out. The options that appear on the left hand side are a little confusing because many of them seem to mean the same thing and very often are. There is no advertising at all on this bit which I find a little strange considering the level that can be found on the main site. In general, the replica kits tend to be much more expensive than in your standard sports shop such as JJB. The other merchandise is value for money, because the only other place that you can buy it is at the expensive MegaStore.
If you are a Spurs fan, however commited, then you should visit this site every couple of days to stay in touch with the latest news. You may not always have to read many of the articles, because the titles and the little blurbs below should give you the important details that you need to know. The site does load pretty quickly and when you select a page or article it is fast in bring it up. If you are not a fan of our great club than you may as well not bother visiting the site, unless you are just a fan of the game of football in general. The site could still be improved, as it does fall below the standard of many of the other football club websites that I have had the misfortune to visit.
I am a big big Spurs fan and I wanted to purchase the Home football kit, now I had been looking for a while and now that Spurs are actually into the Semi-Final of the F A Cup I thought it was about time that I bought it! I looked in all of my local sports shops and the top was £39.99 in everyone, but I also wanted my name on the shirt and this was an extra and some places didn’t even do it. The places that did do it cost £1.50 a letter for the name and £4 for each number that on have on the back of the shirt. Because my name is FRISBY and my favourite position is in Attack and my best player for Spurs is Rebrov I choose number 11. From the sports shops this came to a grand total of £56.99. I thought that this was a bit steep and went home to think about it. When I got home I thought well…why not try the Internet. I searched on the Internet for the Spurs kit and had no joy, so I decided to o to the official Tottenham Hotspurs home page (www.spurs.co.uk). I expected the price to be quite expensive! When I got to the homepage I had a look at the section which said Spurs Kits, the page is very easy to use and read and has very good information about the games, the kit, tickets etc.. I was looking at the kit and saw that it was on special offer. It costs £19.99 for the shirt a massive £20.00 saving. I was amazed at this so I went to order it deciding not to worry about my name on the back. All I had to do was enter a few personal details to register to the club and then proceed to the checkout. When I arrived at the final page it gave me the option to have my name on the back, this to me was very impressive but again I thought oh…this is where the price will go up dramatically, but it was cheaper than the shops! When I read the details of the price it was £1 a letter and £3 a number so it worked out much cheaper than the shops, in total for the kit it came to a grand total of £32 which is a huge saving of £24.99. I
was very impressed with this price and obviously was more than happy to pay for the delivery. I thought the delivery was quite expensive, it was £5.75 to have it delivered within 28 days or £10.00 to have it delivered within 5 days. I made the decision to pay the £10.00 so that I got the shirt reasonably quickly. I didn’t really mind the delivery charge because it still saved me £15.00 (Bargain) Now as you can imagine I was really looking forward to wearing my shirt the next week, I stayed at home three days later because I wasn’t feeling very well and to my surprise there was a knock at the door. When I answered the deliveryman handed me a parcel and asked me to sign for it, I signed the papers went inside and opened the parcel. I was amazed when I opened it to find it was my Spurs shirt, I couldn’t believe that it had arrived that quickly in perfect condition and wrapped securely! Overall I was very pleased with the service that I received and the condition that I had received my goods in, I could see that they obviously take great care to make sure that the products get to the customers in excellent condition. And to top it off my name was perfectly on the back with number 11! To impress me even more within the package you receive a letter telling you of all their special offers, match information and a magazine with all Spurs merchandise in. I was very impressed by the whole service and if you are a Spurs supporter or you are buying a present for a Spurs supporter check out this website first. You won’t regret it! I will not be going to my local sports shop for Spurs merchandise anymore that’s for certain! Stuart
