Very impressed with these guys, laptop is brilliant, great service, couldn't ask for more.
Purchased Intel NUC - able to easily select specific components to meet my requirements, plus specify the software I wanted/did not want loading. Delivered in reasonable time frame.
Overall I am very happy with my order, the laptop that I bought was really good and a lot better than what I thought it would be possible with my budget. The build quality was excellent, although it did take a long time to get into the building stage.
The entire process was quick easy and painless. there was a large selection of parts for my pc all displayed on a very clear and organised website that updated the cost as you chose new parts so you knew exactly what you were going to pay and whether you could afford certain parts as you went without having to work anything out or load dozens of pages to make changes. The company kept in contact with me giving me regular updates about what was happening with my pc and what was left to do. I was contacted the day before my pc arrived by the company telling me that my pc was being delivered the next day , at what time and who by and i was also contacted by the delivery company with the same information. my pc arrived in very good and very protective packaging the next day at the time specified just as i was promised. it came with a wonderful guide to setting it up and caring for it as well as information on all the software that had been installed for me. i was and am very pleased with the entire process and will definitely be going back if i nee another computer
Very good laptop, high quality and built very well. It runs everything I've tried on it extremely well usually reaching a solid 60fps on max settings. The laptop arrived much quicker than I expected it to, being built and arriving in under 2 weeks. The price was very cheap for the specs I wanted. The website was very easy to use and allowed me to easily change the specs and order without problem. They kept me informed of the current production stage well and made it easy to gauge when the laptop would arrive. The laptop does get quite hot when under load but this is understandable due to the compact size. the laptop dis quite light compared to some of her I've owned which is good as it makes it easy to transport. The finger print sensor is a bit temperamental and sometimes does not like to scan my finger properly but most of the time it is alright so I don't have a problem with it. My only real issue with the laptop is he battery life as it will only last about an hour under load which can be an issue sometimes but most of the time it will be used plugged in anyway so this is not too much of an issue but it would have been a bit better if the battery would have been bigger. But overall I am very happy with the laptop, it runs extremely well with next to no problems and was very good for the price.
Custom gaming laptop. The product itself does exactly what I wanted it to- extreme gaming. Thus far it has been able to run every game I have tried on the highest settings at a solid 60 frames per second. The product was built and delivered to me within 9 WORKING days, which I consider to be fast and acceptable for an item like this. The website was fast and simple to use, and at no point did I have any problems understanding terminology used. Payment went through immediately despite having used the fiance option which is available, and my order went through its initial stage fast. I had no problems during the build phase so PC Specalist have not had to contact me with this order, however, when I have e-mail them in the past they are quick to respond, straight to the point, and very friendly.
The one negative I have about the laptop is that the underside in one particular area gets hot very quickly. This is understandable and so I am using a cooling tray underneath which helps mitigate the problem but only minor. The side fan of the laptop still also gets very hot but I will look into cooling options there in the future. This is not a problem for me when gaming at a desk but when I am on the go it can get a little uncomfortable after prolonged use- I am more worried about the lifetime of the components.
Second time buying a PC/Laptop from PC Specialist. The website has improved since the laptop which I did not think possible, once the laptop arrived it took very little time to get up and running. This high performance product is flawless in its operation and function highlighting once again the very best quality product for price.
They did it last time with a marvellous desktop and they are doing it even better now, leaving the competition far behind. The freedom of choice in putting together the ideal package along with the information provided to make a good informed decision is second to none. Thanks again PC World...until the next purchase.
Specs: i3 core 6100H, 8 gb ram, Nvidia Geforce G940, 1 TB memory, windows 10, no antivirus. Total, less than €700
As you can probably see, I went for the cheaper specs, mainly I will be going to college and my parents set out a budget for me. Anyways, despite it's "cheap" specs, it runs very smoothly and quite well.
I don't exactly play very heavy duty games, but high enough requirements, especially Cities Skylines. Thanks to an independent graphics card, it runs very smoothly and without much trouble. I can see the busiest part of my city very clearly. which is a good sign to me, cause there are lots to process as well. Also, I often watch videos, and I'm really happy to say that this laptop delivers really nice 1080p HD graphics.
This i3 processor to me, runs fine. Yes it might not be as good as the i5, but again, if you're not going to do stuf that is not too heavy duty, it will suffice.
The sound quality is honestly, fabulous. Watching some of my favourite shows with its sound system is really enjoyable. Very clear and the voices are quite articulate. So thumbs up here from me.
The ergonomics of it is quite user-friendly. The keyboards are nice to type on. The pad is sensitive enough and the external ports are where you expect them to be. It has an Ethernet port as well which is a rare sight nowadays on laptops. So if you like using it for gaming on a laptop, it's a machine worth considering. The only down side, as I can see, is its weight. 2.5 kg is quite heavy to lug around. But again, it's something you might get over with.
This could just be my laptop, but when I ran on battery power only, not charging. I was downloading Steam and listening to a song on youtube. No battery saving mode if I remember correctly, the sound was, well, distorted. But it goes away when not multi-tasking. This is something I'm not too sure about. But again, this is a very something.
Overall, I'll give this an 8.5/10. Really pleased with the laptop, excellent build quality, but like many machines, it is not perfect. But a very worthy contender for large brand laptops in the price range.
I ordered my pc specialist laptop wanting something a bit different than what I could buy from the high street. So I knew I wanted a laptop custom made to my needs and pc specialist delivered. The options are easy to select and I was able to select the perfect specifications for my needs. I would recommend pc specialist to anyone in need of a new laptop or desktop pc.
Overall, extremely happy with the product brought (custom built desktop with i5 and GTX1070) and reasonably happy with the service.
I had c. 10 days of using the pc so far and it works without any issues whatsoever, it's quick, it's quiet, it's perfect. The price was more than reasonable for the quality and really couldn't be happier (ok, maybe if they gave me the PC for free...)
In terms of the service, the website was easy to use and the forum community was very helpful in offering advice on what might be best for me. When the product was delivered, it came in very solid packaging the meant I wouldn't worry about anything being damaged.
My rating would have been perfect, if it wasn't for the following:
- the wait on the pc was much longer than expected (17 working days). This was still very much compliant with their T&Cs and it was during very busy times as a lot of new hardware was released at the time. However, PCS need to improve in managing expectations - they must have known they were busy but when ordering, dispatch time was estimated at 7-9 working days (half of the actual!). When I called after 9 days, the next estimate they gave me was also inaccurate.
- when the product was delivered, it had protective foam inside the tower case. On one hand - great. On the other hand, the reason why I did not build a pc myself and ordered it with PCS was because I absolutely did not want to do anything with the pc other than turn it on and use. Opening the case was more difficult than I anticipated and very stressful
Fast laptop, I can run everything at ultra settings!
Lovely back lit keyboard, so I can see what I am typing at night
Doesn't get hot that often.
Boot time is very fast.
Battery doesn't last long, typically last around 45 minutes to 1 hour when doing extreme gaming.
Always get smudge and dirty near the keyboard and have to regularly clean it.
Excellent notebook.Recomended it and I will use the company in future again. My second purchase from Pc specialist
I was looking for a 13.3" - 14" laptop which is light and portable enough to carry about when needed, but also powerful enough to perform 1080p video editing of GoPro & HD camcorder footage without being sluggish.
After having a look around, I found a few laptops from the "big players" like HP, Lenovo, Dell, etc. Then there was obviously the MacBook Pro's.
Problem was, I didn't want an overpriced MacBook, and the other offerings from brands I trust were WAAAAY too expensive. Nearly £2500 for a laptop which will be obsolete in a few years.
I was looking to spend about £1000 max. I had a look and found the 14" Skyfire V from PC Specialist. Even when it was fully specced with an i7 Quad Core CPU, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 500GB SSD and NVIDIA GTX 950M with 2.0GB of dedicated video RAM and Windows 10 Professional, it still came in budget.
Not only was it a higher spec than the other machines I had seen, but it was also a fraction of the price.
Looking around online and asking friends I seemed to see good reviews, so I took the plunge.
My custom built laptop arrived just 10 days later and it is exactly as I had expected in terms of spec, looks, feel, weight, etc.
There were 2 minor downsides though. The pre-installed WiFi drivers were flakey with Windows 10 and would only work when stood within 10m of the wireless router. Simply upgrading the drivers resolved the issue.
Similar story with the graphics card drivers and a few others. It looks like these machines are simply connected to a server and imaged using an old build. I would recomment PC Specialist update their builds with the latest drivers in order to avoid having to deal with people calling about problems which are nothing more than simple driver issues.
The only other minor issue, which is more of a design flaw than anything is that the CPU & GPU are located under the palm rest to the left of the mouse pad. With this being such a highly specced machine, when it is being used for video & photo editing the laptop palm rest on the left gets really hot, where as the right side remains nice and cool.
However, this does not happen when web browsing or word processing, only when performing CPU / GPU intensive tasks.
The laptop works perfectly with a "pluggable" USB-3 docking station which allows me to use it as a desktop when working on larger projects with dual screens.
Overall I would give the laptop an 8/10, simply fixing the driver issues could have made that a 9/10, and a redesign of where the CPU & GPU are located would make it a 10/10, but that last one would require a full overhaul of the design of the laptop.
Very pleased with my purchase and would recommend to others.
Excellent, very happy with my new laptop which was bought to replace an old quad core music production desktop. Very powerful at a great price. Recommended and I'll be using then again in the future.
I needed a beastly mobile workstation for my job as a 3d artist in the field of games development. Essentially I was looking for the equivalent of a powerful desktop that I could pack up and take offsite when needed. Most of the name brand laptops had very limited customisation options, none of which suited me ideally, and cost an eye-watering sum for the kind of specs I was searching for. Then I discovered PC Specialist. They seem to have a solid reputation for quality and support and, should I ever need it, I hope that is true. In the meanwhile, I've configured exactly the machine I wanted, at a price that my employers were willing to work with, and it was assembled and shipped to me in the space of a single working week. I've now had it for a fortnight and it's one mean machine! Also, it looks nice, understated, and professional... none of this blingy lights-and-whistles nonsense that comes on, e.g. ASUS ROG computers. The next time I need a new machine for my personal use, or to recommend a friend/colleague, I won't hesitate to consider going for another PC Specialist build.
