It is a very light, easy to move laptop that will do for far more that just the everyday stuff.
Graphics can handle a graphic designer demands with no complaints. Processor and ram capacity far exceeds that as well.
In the case you want to open the PC and add a second hard drive (like me) it's a piece of cake.
No need to remove keyboard or other components in order to reach the hard drive slot.
First and second test on the battery is at 5hrs. I was worried about the trackpad but to my surprise is one of the best that I used on a PC (still not a MacBook but it's cool).
And lastly, the price should compensate you for whichever minor complaint you might have.
If I was to point out a disadvantage that would be the finishes and the feel. It's not as smooth as the macbook air. for instant the monitor hinges are quite tight and the material of which the laptop is mad feels slightly rough. But as i said the price fully compensates that.
Overall it's a great machine that i highly recommend to everyone dealing from web-browsing to graphic design projects.
PCSpecialist are a wonderful company. You can customise your laptop/PC to suit your needs, the website will warn you about any incompatibilities. You can be safe in the knowledge that all components are genuine and competitively priced. You get regular email updates to keep you informed on the progress of your new build. My laptop was delivered on time despite making two changes to my order. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and full of helpful advice. I got the feeling that they would rather have a happy customer than sell you something you didn't need or want. Thank you to all at PCSpecialist. You're doing a great service!!
It's very confortable that the proccess step by step is informed by e-mail.
PCSpecialist are incredible for cost effective, custom spec machines. My first PC was through them, and now my laptop. Choosing a laptop is difficult, the choices available through most retailers have you paying for things you don't need. With this PCSpecialist excels providing options for each individual component I was able to price up something within my budget that I can upgrade as and when I please - rather than be lumbered with an overpriced brick that I can't touch until the warranty expires.
My only problem is that I couldn't purchase a laptop without a hard drive (which does make sense) as I already had a laptop hard disk which I intended to use, so I had to put the cheapest hard drive I could find into the laptop with the intention of throwing it away once it arrived. It would be nice to offer a "send us your components" service like they offer with PC customisation. I understand this can invite compatibility issues but would have still liked the option. Also depending on which model of laptop you choose you are limited in what tech is available. The first model I priced up did not have any processors beyond a Dual Core and no options for a GPU and I had to go with a base model with a much higher starting price just to get a CPU I was happy with.
I also did not plan on buying an Operating system as I already own several copies of windows 7, however due to the hardware used Windows 7 was actually incompatible. (thankfully upgrading to 10 was still free).
Delivery stated it could take up to 3 weeks but I had my laptop delivered safely, with DPD tracking within the week.
All in all, the gripes I've had buying a Laptop from PCSpecialist in no way overshadow that this is a fantastic service, if only more people knew about this service retailers would up their game, and stop peddling crap to the general public.
In the past I have bought laptops from Dell because of their good customisation options (although definitely not cheap). However, they seem to have changed direction and so I went to PC specialist for my new laptop. Glad I did. I thought my requirements would be too restrictive - but apparently not and I was able to specify exactly what I wanted. There was a glitch in the order process, but caused by my bank, who seemed to have an aversion to me parting with my money. One call to customer services and the friendly guy at the other end sorted it immediately by taking direct payment. A week and a half later, my perfect laptop arrived and has performed admirably ever since (and in these days of over-hyped marketing, it's rather nice to have an unbranded piece of kit!)
I say that lack of immediate availability is a disadvantage, but that's nitpicking. Given the number of options available for CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD, etc, etc (including software - it makes a pleasant change not to have to spend half a day removing unwanted "free" offers of 30-day trials of various packages) it would be quite impossible for any merchant to hold every permutation in stock. As it is, the turnaround time was perfectly acceptable.
The only very small grouse I have with the laptop is on the keyboard: the spacebar needs a bit of a harder tap than the other keys - but I got used to that quickly enough. (Actually, I see that another reviewer has made this exact same point as well.)
Who says you can't get a decent laptop for under £500? Highly recommended.
Really pleased with my purchase so far. It arrived fast and its price is lower than competitors' laptops for the same specs. Nothing bad to say.
I was taking a risk with ordering this product. I wanted laptop to run Linux. It runs Mint 18 well. Taking that gamble is down to the purchaser as there is no "official"support for this - guess that is part of the Windows franchise. The posters to the support forums helped me make up my mind.
The product is great. My only gripe is the light weight keyboard but that is typical of current laptops. The rest is well made and performance is good. Hopefully this will be a good product for me in the longer term.
Really happy with my new laptop. really well build and came really quickly and was well packaged. great for gaming and animation software, just what i was looking for :)
Just got my order off PCS, Absolutely amazing work on the PC I ordered not a thing wrong with it and the building time was very good, thanks PCS :)
Absolutely love my new PC, great design, amazing performance and despite being 17,3" it is much lighter than it looks! The only thing I am a bit disappointed in is the space-bar key - it doesn't react too well, I have to hit it quite hard and in the middle of it otherwise it doesn't register - usually my thumb rests by the left edge since my other fingers are on the WASD during gaming and so I have to be wary of where I press it- but this is a minor issue and probably only on my unit.
I needed a laptop that was individual to me, and one that suits my work. I found that using Pcspecialist I could achieve this. The ability to select the parts to suit was my fundamental decision to purchase.
I am very pleased with the robustness of the product and the quality of the materials
The best way to have a state of the art high end bespoke laptop at a very competitive price.
Their customer service is second to none too.
Good prices and able to get brand new CPU on day it was released. CPU cooler was bent when received due to packing material and no retail boxes or packaging for the individual parts so will make it harder to sell if looking to upgrade parts in the future.
Nothing bad to say. Very happy with the service.
Delivery was on time, and phoneline staff were helpful and available. I weighed up a few different suppliers when ordering my PC and feel i made the right decision.
