Hmm. I have very mixed feelings about ASDA delivery services. There are a lot of good points.
It is fantastic for the basics: fruit and veg is cheap and mostly great value and good quality. The variety of products they have on is really great, especially for less common items needed for different cuisines, like coconut milk or massamam curry paste, or even just for the range of dried pulses or tinned beans are great. The quality and price of the products is very good, it is just the actual delivery part of the service I have a problem with.
First, I purchased a month-long mid-week delivery pass, meaning if i booked a delivery for Tues, Weds or Thurs I got free delivery for the slot I picked. It worked fine the first time. The second time I was charged for my delivery despite having the pass, and could find no explanation or way to get my money back.
Another problem has been consistent late delivery. Not a massive problem for me as I am at home most of the day, but for others I imagine this is very annoying. Also bad is the substitution policy - I have received some completely nonsensical items! and when I tick no substitutions instead i risk only getting half my order. On the one order where I received no substitutions, two items were missing from my order. I asked a for a refund through the website. I did receive it but it was not the full amount and no explanation was given.
Overall the service is ok - the cheap food outweighs the problems with delivery. It needs a lot of work!
Before we bought our current property and I went on a major Mortgage Free Mission, I used Asda delivery every week, mainly due to the 12 mile round trip to the nearest supermarket and simply because I dislike food shopping.
I find the website extremely easy to use, having all the items I use stored in my favourites, a simple search will quickly find any new items I need. Initial use did take much longer due to having to find each item individually. Another route is to enter your last till reciept and those items can then be added to your favourites.The favourites store all the items you have ever bought, but you can delete them. You can also set up shopping lists but I have never bothered, preferring to go through my favourites.
I tend to nip online whilst watching telly, whizz through my favourites, book my slot and pay in less than 10 minutes which is brilliant.
I tend to use a lot of Smart price products and the bonus is the amount of more expensive alternatives I get for the same price when they haven't my item in stock, it is necessary to agree to accept substitutes for this to occur. The downside is that they sometimes will send you a none deal item, for example 3 bottles of wine for £10, they send 2 and the 3rd they substitute for none offer wine. A phone call to them though and the difference in costs is reimbursed. I have also had them not deliver bread, with no substitute and I find it hard to believe Asda had run out of bread completely.
Overall the sell by dates are reasonable but I have stopped buying bananas due to them frequently clearly being very bruised, going black before my eyes and then having to throw them away.
The helpline is "challenging" clearly manned by staff whose English is not their first language and can be difficult to explain your issue to, and overall leaves you feeling frustrated.
The 10% guarantee to be cheaper than other competitors with a comparable shop can still be done.
Delivery prices vary between £2 and £5 depending on date and time. The first part of week and day are generally significantly cheaper. You can book up to 3 weeks in advance. Slots are 2 hours, starting at 6am and finishing at 11pm. You can change your order up to 11pm the night before. You also receive an email confirming your shopping.
I tend to use the delivery service if I have a lot of shifts booked and struggling for time, on the day we come back off holiday and always the last shop before Christmas. Or if I come across a free delivery code, a few years ago a quick free delivery asda search would always provide a freebie via websites like retailmenot but these seem a thing of the past. If you don't have a delivery for a while one will appear in an email saying they've missed you... recently there were codes for free delivery if you bought the new compressed deodorant.
The delivery drivers are always really friendly and helpful. They are also happy to take old carrier bags to recycle. They are always on time and on the rare occasion when late (my Christmas delivery) they rang me to advise.
I really like the asda delivery service and if my fresh veg and fruit wasn't so much cheaper at aldi I would still be doing every week as the charge is probably equivalent to my petrol costs and definitely worth the time saved.
Its 4 stars as they've lost one for the helpline and my poor bananas
Placed an order with asda for the Click and collect service as I would be out and about anyway but not have the time for a supermarket shop, thought I had paid for it but when I collected the order apparently the promotions had ended and the bill was higher, managed to get the difference refunded as I only purchased them due to the offer.
I thought it was a great service until I checked my bank account today and found the higher amount has been taken from my account but they are still reserving the original total and it will be 5 - 7 days before this is released. To make this quicker I had to phone the bank and get info for asda for the funds to be released in 2 days.
I would advise anyone to think carefully before using asda click and collect, I for one will never use it again, it's not worth the hassle.
Had a recent experience which entailed me using ASDA. Com. My 10 year old daughter was looking for a new pair of jim jams and she had a look around the internet and decided that the set she could not do without, was from the George range at ASDA.
Being her father I look at several aspects when picking clothes (yes I do regard Jim Jams as clothes) for my 10 year old however most of this criteria goes out the window when looking at night clothing. Mainly you don't tend to get crop tops in children's nightwear and the design of these clothes is more angled towards comfort and keeping warm than being trendy. Which is music to my ears.
So the perfect set is in front of me and at a very reasonable price of £6. (second criteria of a father gets a good tick in the box here - its cheap) However the downside is that the nearest ASDA is near to where I work and having a short lunch break dosnt give you much time to shop.
On the website I noticed that you could order and pay for the item on line and then pick it up from the shop. This seemed to answer all the issues as I wouldn't have to worry about stock or was it her size etc etc.
So I filled out the details , selected and paid for the item and almost immediately obtained a confirmation of my purchase from the ASDA website. I knew that I would not be able to pick it up until the Thursday (The day of ordering being Monday night) but this suited as it did say leave 3 to 4 days for delivery to the store .
On the Tuesday I received an email stating that my order had been despatched to the store from the depot and everything was running smoothly, I felt quietly confident in the item being there waiting for me at the store and I would just swoop in on the Thursday and pick it up and again Dad has saved the day with his no nonesense approach to life.
Tuesday Evening (yes less than 8 hrs later) I received another email stating that my order was in the store and awaiting my collection and it would remain there until "Wednesday" .....until Wednesday!!! I wasn't due in until the Thursday and this was Tuesday night. I searched through my emails and it clearly stated that the item would be in the store for 14 days and you could extend this if you wished.
During the Wednesday I thought of nothing else other than the tears rolling down my daughters face (sorry a bit of licence here) and the jimmy jammers going back to the lonely depot never to be bought and delivered again.
Thursday lunchtime came and I raced to the ASDA near my work, I went so fast into the store I missed the counter that said "pick up point" and had to ask someone where to go. A very nice 60 year old lady stood behind the counter and I was unsure that my explanation (Repeating what I have written above) was making any sense to the lady and I slowly lost faith in the prospect of me walking out of the store with the said items.
The Lady calmly said that the email had been mistaken and she asked for my order number and the card I had paid on line with. After giving these details she went to a cupboard and pulled out my package. After handing it to me she realised the computer system was down and she wasn't daunted by this one little bit.
She wrote the order number on a piece of paper and the item and also asked me to sign to say it had been collected. Turnaround for the whole experience in the shop was about 2 minutes!!! She still had the calmness and collectiveness to ask "was there anything else I can help you with?"
The online system is easy to use, the ordering and paying is easy to use, the collection point in store is easy to see (if your not in a rush). The collection is easy, the service I received was second to none. Well done ASDA and it's a shame your shop isn't closer to me for the family weekly shop.
I like to buy my groceries by shopping in person but sometimes I feel too tired or too lazy to go out, so I do the easy and quick option which is online shopping.
I have used a few online shopping sites like Tesco's, Sainsbury's and Asda's. My recent purchase from Asda's was based on the fact that they were offering free delivery on orders over £99 via entering a special code. This was vital for me because I usually have to fork out an extra £5.00 on delivery in addition to the hefty shopping list which is usually above £99. I'm going to share my thoughts and my experience via this review and the outcome of my recent virtual shopping trip.
== The appearance of the site and my first impression ==
The landing page is mainly composed of a green and white background. However this page is crammed with advertisements, tabs and sub-tabs; this may be a problem for first timers as they may be lost where to start. This landing page leads to the two main categories which are Asda direct (Electricals, George, furniture, toys, homeware and more) and Asda's Groceries. While shopping, there is always a virtual shopping receipt on the right hand-side which records every item in your basket. This is very useful since you can keep track of all purchases and you don't have to go to another page to see if the item you desire is in the basket. However this may be a little bit annoying since it crowds up the page even more!
== Registration ==
This step is extremely important as you cannot continue shopping without an active account. The usual registration procedures apply here as well. It only takes a couple of minutes to fill out the form which requires you entering a valid email in addition to the password you desire. As soon as you submit, a confirmation email is sent; then you can shop away.
== Looking for an item? ==
Searching for an item isn't the quickest ever neither the most accurate. You can either search by categories or by the search tab on the top right corner. For example if you search for baked beans, you would get many results; however most of them are not relevant to the main search. Also very little products are displayed on each page so you have to go through 6 or maybe 7 pages to get to your desired product which can tend to be a bit annoying and time consuming.
== My experience ==
I shopped several times from Asda so I'm sort of getting used to the shopping system there. It took me about a couple of hours to finish the shopping. I enjoy my online shopping and I get my boys to join in the fun most of the times but sometimes I don't call them since the receipt would be fairly big and I wouldn't want any additional items. Unlike the real thing you won't get tired and there are no crowds and long queues and you get to explore the whole site aisle by aisle and this is one of the main advantages of using supermarket online shopping. The offers online are slightly different than the ones offline; sometimes they are even better!
The disadvantages are not much but they are significant, always check fresh milk and vegetables and sometimes even meat's use by date. I have noticed that they packed them with a very near use by date which is very annoying especially if you paying for big quantities. I have talked to Asda's staff several times about this issue. Substitutions may not always suit your taste, for me it has never met my expectations and I always leave a note with the driver about how bad and inconvenient it was and I always get an apology in return!
There are some very good offers on fruit and veg and meat and recently on pizza's and frozen food in addition to cleaning products and health and beauty too. I'm sure that you will be spoilt for choices but just pray that you will get what you ordered not a dreadful alternative.
== Checking out ==
After finishing all your shopping, it is time for you to check out. This process can be done by pressing the green "checkout" button on your shopping receipt on your right hand-side. This will take you to the delivery page where you are required to book your favourite time and day for delivery ("Home delivery slots") Please note the minimum fee required for you to undergo an online order is £25 and must be paid with one of the following credit cards:
* Asda Credit Card
* Visa Electron
* American Express.
After placing the order they send a confirmation email with the shopping list and the chosen delivery slot.
== Delivery ==
"Delivering summer" is a special offer made by Asda, where delivery is free of charge on orders over £99. This can only be done if a code which they provide is entered when paying for the products. Delivery slots are usually provided over a 7 day period and you have a choice of 2 hour slots or 8 hour slots. The 8 hour slot is cheaper at £2.50 while the 2 hour slots are available from £3.00-£5.50 depending on the slot you choose.
Or you could use the Click and collect service
This is a new service by ASDA's, you order online and collect your order from your nearest ASDA's supermarket. In my opinion I think it's not a brilliant idea because if I order online why should I bother to drive to my nearest store and collect my shopping instead of having them delivered to my house for free? Well that what I think anyway!
== Upon receiving the order ==
"The driver" seems to be a hit and miss. Sometimes if you are lucky you get a smiling and friendly driver who explains the whole receipt for you and show you the substitution items and explains them for you. The good driver also offers help in terms of carrying the shopping bags and collecting them back. If you don't want them, you give them to the driver since Asda operate a recycling system.
So nice and easy HOWEVER, if it isn't your lucky day and you got one of those grumpy drivers you won't get any of the previous services. On my last shopping order, the driver wasn't up to the standard of the previous driver, we booked our slot between 4pm-6pm, the driver came at 5:45 only 15 minutes before the deadline. He wasn't helpful at all and seems that he was in a hurry. He explains everything very quickly and didn't offer any help carrying the bags, he also didn't ask if we were happy with the substitutions. Another mistake the driver did make is that he didn't give us frozen and chilled products first as Asda's driver usually do. The bags were far too much and too heavy for me and my son to carry so the driver finally offered to carry the last couple of bags and asked me to sign for the delivery of the items!
== The receipt ==
The receipt was very organised and detailed. Each item was listed with the price and the quantity; the substitutions were placed at the beginning of the receipt.
== Substitutions ==
I don't know why they don't stock enough products! Everytime I have ordered online, I usually encounter an unpleasant surprise in terms of the substitutions. For example, on my last order I ordered 500g of fresh chicken breast and in return I had a kilo of frozen chicken breast. Yes, it was more expensive and double the amount but who would eat frozen chicken when you have fresh chicken?
== After sale services ==
After receiving your order, they send you an email containing a short survey about their product and services; I was honest with them and gossiped a bit about the driver, so I encourage you to fill out the survey. You never know! They might do something about it.
== Customer services ==
I contacted the customer services on several occasions, online customer services, in person and on the phone and to be honest, their customer services were absolutely marvellous. They were helpful and polite and offered money back on items that I didn't like or complained about.
== My overall opinion ==
Overall I'm quite satisfied with Asda's services, however it could be better if they focused a little bit more on customers need and offer money back in case that you don't like their substitutions. They are not the quickest but at least they are always within the time slot. I'm always happy to use their services again and I really hope that they improve their site a bit and make it more user friendly.
== And finally ==
There are some Asda's E vouchers that you can download and use when checking out, it might become handy and help reduce the bill slightly. I really don't know why I spend much more money shopping online more than when going to the store in person!

Can anyone please tell me why asda don't put the date of the start and end of an offer on Internet shopping when all others do.I have now stopped shopping with asda as they keep charging me full price for offers every time I ordered, I always put my order in at the last minute to make sure it's still on, and I still get charged full price now shopping with tesco and it's cheeper
I've been using asda home delivery for over three years now, in all that time I think I've only had one occasion where I haven't had to call to complain (the reson I come back each time is that they keep giving me vouchers so I have no choice but tom shop again to use the vouchers, I found tescos worse as they kept sending me out of date fruit and veg)
Does Belvoir blood orange organic cordial actually exist?! I only order it now to see if it will ever arrive! It never has, in two years, always unavailable
There are always things missing from my order....always!!! at least five items every time
The drivers are always lovely though, I'll say that.
I've had 5 kilos of broccoli delivered when I ordered 0.5 kilos, crushed bread with a 2.5 kg bag of potaoes on top, slimy rotten spinach, mouldy apples, damages bananas, smartprice cheap eggs substituted for free range..the list goes on and on.
......and their roll backs??!!......more like roll forwards, how can it be a roll back when it's more expensive than before...who manages asda's websites??...sack that person!!! Also they put up their prices in between ordering an delivering, one time within 12 hours!!! rip off!!
I have been recovering from complicated surgery for two years so I'm stuck in and it's a nightmare when things don't turn up, Sometimes I even do a shop with another online supermarket at the same time as asda just in case so I can replace my missing groceries quickly or cancel in enough time.
It's just not good enough!!!!
I would still say that they are the cheapest though but I think I'll move over to tescos as they seem to have improved lately, their delivery charges are quite steep, especially when a lot of it is missing!
I've told them I want a refund on my card from now on, no more Vouchers!!
ASDA HOME DELIVERY IS RUBBISH!!!
So this is the third time i've used Asda Home delivery Services having made my purchases online.
the first time the delivery was on time. the second time it was late, but within 30min.
now... no delivery.
so the delivery was suppose to be on sunday 27th Feb 2011 between 12pm - 2pm.
from about 2:15pm i started to call the customer services online help line (0800 952 6060 UK). there was on answer. i continued to hold and call back several times, but to no avail even after calling for 90min there are no answer.
i decided to call my Asda Shopping centre in Leyton. this is the response that i got from them;
ring ring.... can i help you...
so i explained the problem.
they couldnt help me so they transfered me 4 times, until the fourth person said
sorry we dont know anything about the home delivery services, we cant help you.
So i then decided to call another local branch in Beckton.
they just put the phone down on me, so i called back and once again... sorry we cant help you.
i've decided i cant do anything about it..... i'm still waiting for my delivery...
Asda... your home delivery service is (S)ugar (H)oney (I)ce (T)ea..... straight up non-sense.
I was due a home shopping delivery on 19th Dec, however due to snow (about 5inches max) on the 18th Dec ASDA decided to cancel my order. As the weather was a slight improvement on the 19th I called my store to ask about re-arranging delivery, i was told that there was no possibility of this happening as my order was cancelled and that was the end of the matter as there were no slots available on line to re-arrange.
I then spent the rest of the day trying to find either another on line delivery with other companies or trying to arrange a way of getting out to do the shop myself. I finaly found a delivery for the next day 20th Dec with OCADO! (there were also deliverys available right up to late on christmas eve). When i checked my shopping total against my bank balance to make sure there was enough money available to make a payment i found almost £200.00 was missing from my account. I promptly checked my bank statement and could not find where this money had gone, so i called my bank who told me that on the morning of the 18th Dec (a day before my delivery was due) ASDA had taken the money from my account and were holding this as a pending payment.
I was furious as you can imagine, I called the store my delivery was due from they said payments were not their responsibility and i needed to call the customer service, which is a complet joke i called several times and was on hold 20mins each time.
The matter is still to be resolved as i am still unable to speak to anyone at customer services, and i am also unable to do any shopping even locally untill my money is put back into my account as that is all i have
DO NOT SHOP WITH ASDA! this is not the only problem we have had with online deliverys e.g missing items, late deliverys, damaged items, being sent the wrong orders, need i go on
I am fuming with Asda and will never use them again. Last Sat my order never came. no one had contacted me so i found out by logging in to my asda account that it had been cancelled due to bad weather. Ok so it was snowing, fair enough i could live with that. I then found out that they had still taken the money!! I called them and was told that they always still take the money and place it in a "holding account" in case it is rebooked. But they had no slots to rebook it so i asked for refund. Was then told it can take 10 WORKING days to get money back. Not a happy customer and i would never risk using them again.
Since DooYoo have their disclaimer about truthful facts etc...I'll keep to the facts.
ASDA - If you're listening, my order number is 1131656300.
FACT: When I placed my order, 2 items were on special offer so I ordered extra.
FACT: When ASDA delivered the order the following day (18 hours later) - they charged me full price and did not honour the special offers.
FACT: This resulted in the order being 10% (over £18) more than originally quoted when I placed the order.
FACT: When I wrote to their customer services, they pulled the 'When you shop on the website you will pay the same price that you would pay if you came to our store to do your shopping on the day of delivery'.
FACT: Any special offers they advertise on their website when you place your order cannot be taken seriously. Even if there is NO WAY of the offer being honoured (e.g. it expires in 8 hours but the earliest delivery time is the next day), you will not be informed at all but still allowed to order at that price and even receive order confirmation showing the offer price. The first time you will know is when you see the charge being way more than expected.
If anyone wants to question this, I have got my receipts and email interactions with customer support...I am happy to publish this.
I understand that prices may vary, but they should be accountable for honouring the special offers they advertise at an absolute minimum.
Last sunday between 7 and 9pm I was to have a delivery from asda groceries. I have had on and off problems with them, one being the driver accidently storing the bleach on top of my food, which leaked and another where the meat was so bruised it looked like it had played a rough game of rugby !!!! But due to price I on and off persevered with them.
Anyhow 9pm was approaching and no food, so as I had to go out in the next few mins I rang the store. The first time the phone was slammed down on me and the second found me through to a man who said dont blame me in response to me calmly and politely asking where my food was as had to go out. Turned out he was the duty manager of the store and just came on shift and I assume had had a lot of these calls in the first few mins of his shift, so a little flustered I put it down to.
Anyhow he proceeds with insisting I was called like all the others. I told him I was in all day and there was no call, to which he said you must have. At that point I was waiting to leave as said so said look there was no call, my phone automatically records incoming calls but lets leave it there and please cancel as cant wait. Told well we were all told there was a delay and I had to say well sorry but I wasnt and as you have just started your shift, you couldnt possibly have been party to such calls.
Left it with please tell delivery driver not to call and dont charge me as thats another issue. Last time order cancelled they still charged me and I asked what happened to the we dont take your money till signed for, to which they hummed and harred and eventually I got it back, there had been some confusion some where.
So going out and suprised as this was a big shop to see food built up on my door step and drive, there had been no knock and the petit woman was planning to put it all at the door I suppose and then knock. She was flustered as obviously under a lot of pressure to deliver other delayed food and I had to apologise on way down drive that if I was not in such a hurry I would accept the food, but it cant wait now. What happend to the call I asked her from your duty manager? I didnt get one she said !!!!!!!
Okay so alls well that ends well, I the following day got a large shop from tesco and got a lot of clothes bargains, so glad in a way it had happened. But I noticed the reserve of the payment on my account was still in place and had not been cancelled, which I would have expected promptly due to their messing me about. Nope, so I called them and couldnt get through, their email system was playing up and when allowed to post message answered to many digits in message, repost, arggghhhh.
Told myself that nearly a working week later the matter would be resolved in its own time as fed up chasing them. Tried to take money out of my bank today and low and behold they are still holding the money on reserve. I rang my bank to confirm it was them and told yes its asda and after listening to me was told they have the facility to cancel the authorisation I believe she said within 48hours.
But no it wasnt down as obvioulsy asda do not know what customer services is. When things go right with them they are passible, untill when it goes wrong they are impossible to communicate with. When I stopped using them last time they kept bombarding me with emails sorry we miss you and the like and look at what you are missing, they even on one occassion gave me free delivery and so I was hooked like a fish and went back.
When you ring and get through that is they are apologetic and gasp at the experience, but do they learn anything as in customer services and make sure it is took notice of at store level? I dont think so. I accept mistakes happen but cant accept them holding onto my money, it feels personal as if they are being funny, silly I know, but after the attitude of the duty manager not even informing his own stafff, I do wonder wether to like last time check my account monday next and notice the money has gone out in error again.
Bank said if they dont take the money it should drop off the system in about ten days and I shouldnt I suppose expect any help from asda freeing it up till then as all they are good at is taking money !!!!!!!
I have just registered with sainsburys. I did want to try tesco but they dont accept electron cards so thats that. Lets see how I get on with them, maybe a positive review could appear if things go well.

I purchased my groceries from Asda two weeks ago. It was to be delivered on a Friday evening between 6 and 8pm. At 10pm it still had not arrived so I phoned their customer service department which would appear to be based in South Africa. The women I spoke to rang the store which was to make the delivery and they confirmed that it was still scheduled to arrive that evening. However, it never arrived and it was not delivered the next day even though I waited in all day long.
I rang the customer service hotline again on Saturday evening and they told me that someone from the store would phone me on Monday to rearrange delivery. However, nobody phoned and nobody delivered! Now I discover that I have been charged for this non existent delivery. I have written to head office but after a week I have still not received a reply.
Due to ill health I have been having my groceries delivered to my house for the past six year from other supermarkets and I have never experienced problems before. I really am at my whits end with this. Asda seem to have no interest whatsoever in actually providing me with my goods even though I have paid them nearly £100. They just don't seem interested!
Surely someone must have noticed that I have never signed for these groceries. It is just beyond belief!
In today's world of endless rushing around, a couple of hours extra in the day are always welcome. I have always visited the supermarket for my shopping but a previous review of mine shows my distain for food shopping. Last week, for the first time, i tried online food shopping with Asda
Online shopping is the perfect way to save petrol, valuable time and trying to find a car parking space. It also stops those impulse buys that encourage you to buy more than you originally wanted. So where do you start? Log on to Asda.com and the top left of the home page has a click through for grocery shopping to your door. It is then advisable to enter your postcode when prompted to ensure that the local Asda delivers to your street. There is a charge of around £5.50 for delivery so well worth doing the full shop online at one go.
Simply register with your email address and a password and it will ask for a security name for you as well. Once registered, you are ready to shop from the comfort of your own home.
The site is pretty self explanatory and the best way to remember your way around is to picture yourself in the store, going down aisle by aisle so you know what you would normally buy. All foodstuffs, laundry care, baby requirements and homecare etc are categorised, making it easier to section your shopping.
As an example, there is a Fresh Fruit and Veg category, Dairy and chilled foods, fresh meat and fish, bakery, food cupboard, frozen, laundry pets and household, amongst many other categories. Each of these categories also has a sub category, eg the fresh meat and fish category will have a button underneath for bacon and sausages and cooked meats, amongst others. The site will always offer you the same offers online, as those instore and each item you choose will indicate the date by which the offer on that product ends. If you already know the name of the product you require, it can be typed into the search button at the top of the page.
Visit the category of your choosing and click on the item you require. You can increase the amount of each of the products you require and then press the ADD button. You will then notice a box opens up on the right hand side of the page which contains your trolley. It indicates the product you have chosen, how many of that product has been selected, and also gives you a total of the price. Each time another item is added, it will tot up the total for you, so you always know what you are spending. There is a trash bin at the end of each item. If you change your mind and decide you no longer need an item, just click on the trash bin and it will disappear off your list and deduct the amount off your total. The first online shop will be the most daunting because you have to create your list from scratch so can take some time, but it is all there for you for the next shop you do.
Once the shopping list is finished, decide a delivery slot and enter this in and then pay by credit or debit card and await the delivery. If you have missed an item you can always go back in and request it as long as it is within the timescale before delivery. Don't forget that the delivery charge will be added to your spend.
The food is delivered in plastic carrier bags, within crates which are dropped at the door and all you need to do is carry them into the kitchen. The person delivering the items will then ask you if you have any carrier bags for him to take back to recycle. These can be from any store at all. On their next visit with your home delivery, you can return the bags from your previous online shop so it saves the guilt factor about using plastic bags.
What i love about this site, is that it saves your previous orders and you can create a shopping list online for future use and just tick the items you want to be added to the trolley for your next order.
I guess my only dislike would be not being able to control sell by dates as i do have a tendency to reach to the back of shelves to get the latest dates possible. However, my first shop online was almost perfect. The only problem i had was that my spring onions looked as if they expired last autumn but all other fresh foods were fine and the sell by dates were good too.
I would recommend this means of shopping, simply because it takes away the stress factor of rushing round, normally after a full day at work. It enables you to do other things, and my two hours of freedom meant i could do jobs at home i would normally have to do at the weekend. All in all, an almost perfect result bar the few spring onions!
I have now become a reasonably frequent user of Tesco.com for delivering my weekly shop, and I usually make use of this when I find a free delivery code or other promotion. Well, whilst looking for any codes this week, I came across a free delivery code for asda online grocery shopping, where you simply had to spend £25 to quality, as opposed to the usual £50 insisted by Tesco.
We don't have an ASDA in our town, but there is one about 10 miles away. There is the capacity for checking on the asda.com website whether they deliver to your address. So, before I even looked at hte grocery list and registering, I checked to see that they would deliver to my home, and they would.
It was then a matter of simply registering my details, which was very straigthforward, and then onto the actual shopping.
There are some positives and negatives about the online grocery service offered by Asda. Firstly, I think there is more choice than on the Tesco.com, and I think it is better laid out. However, on the other hand, I like the fact that you can look up all the offers on the Tesco.com website quickly, whereas you don't seem to be able to get a full list of the current offers on the ASDA website. Rather, the offers appear at top of the page of the area of shopping you have selected. Like a lot of people though, I may have a list, however, when I notice something on offer I often decide to add it to my shop. I actually think ASDA miss out on this - although I think because of this I spent less (so may be not all bad).
The website takes your payment details before allowing you to put in any promotional codes or vouchers. I was a bit concerned, since I wanted to be sure my free delivery worked before I committed to any shop. IN this instance the voucher worked to give me free delivery, however, I am not sure if there is the capacity to cancel if your voucher is not accepted. I presume there is.
It should also be noted, that you can also earn an xtra £5 if you go through a cashback site for this first, initial shop.
I had asked for the shopping to be delivered between 3pm and 5pm. At approx 2.45 I got a phone call from the driver to say he would be with me in 15 minutes. I was impressed with this. Tesco have never phoned me in advance.
The driver when he arrived 15 minutes, was extremely friendly and helpful. He talked me through how things that were not available were substituted, and the contact details if there were any problems.
He then brought in my groceries, and helped me to unload. It wasn't until he had left, that I noticed one item missing, even though it was on the print out that he had given me. Thankfully it wasn't a crucial bit of the grocery list, however I had to use the contact number at the top and telephone to report this. I got a very helpful, foreign lady who apologised and refunded my credit card with the amount. In this case, I didn't mind so much because it wasn't a crucial item, however, it would have been a bigger issue if it had been a more important and vital ingredient for someone for instance.
All in all, apart from the little blip in the fact that they forgot one item, I felt the service was excellent. I appreciated the telephone call in advance, the help from the driver, the friendliness of the driver, and the help given when I had to phone about the missing item. I would have no hesitation in using this service again, however if next time they forget something, I may have to reconsider!
