      -

My Mum purchased this cotbed for our daughter when we first found out we were expecting her. I am pretty sure this is where my Winnie The Pooh nursery fixation came from so you can blame her for all my reviews of Winnie The Pooh baby stuff!

The cotbed comes flat packed and you do really have to follow the instructions to build it. It is a little complicated, especially when you have a husband who won't let you lift anything! We could have had this done in half the time had my husband let me help but no....just because I was pregnant at the time I had to sit and relax. Boo! It does come in a good few pieces so be warned!

When it was finally built we were left with a really beautiful cot. It was made from beautifully smooth solid pine and it looks really expensive. I think it cost my Mum around the £160 mark. The pine is beautifully smooth and it has a nice varnished shine to it too. The most beautiful thing about this cotbed though are the carvings of Winnie The Pooh in both ends of the cot. It is just the perfect finishing touch.

We didn't build it to see what it was like as a cot bed as we were not thinking that far ahead. We did not end up using it as a cotbed either as by the time my daughter was old enough to go into a cotbed, she also had the ability to speak and air her views and she wanted a Dora bed. When she did sleep in the cot though, she always had a peaceful night and slept soundly.

When the cot was built, it was very strong and sturdy. It is made of very thick wood and there is a plastic coating on the rails which are called teething rails so should your baby decide they want to try and chew the rails they shouldn't get damaged. My daughter never did try to chew the rails so I don't know if it would cause any damage.

The cotbed does not come with a matress which is a bit of an annoyance given the amount it costs. You do have to make sure you have the dimensions etc to ensure you get the right size matress. My Mum got ours from the same place she purchased the cot and it was £70 for one which was decent. The ones under that price were very thin.

When it was purchased for us there was an entire matching set of furniture but that has now been discontinued however, as long as you have Winnie the Pooh furniture, I think it still goes nicely.

I love this cotbed by far the best one I found with all my searching!

It took us a long time to find a cot that we were actually happy with. Being first time parents we looked for a long time before deciding a cotbed would be the best thing for us. As it grows with your child and turns into a bed we figured that it would mean we could use it for longer and get our money's worth out of it.

We looked at a few and finally settled on this one. Made from pine wood it has a nice tone and finish on it. There are winnie the pooh pictures carved into both ends of the cot which add a nice decorative touch. It was also a reasonable price compared to some of the others you can get and I personally prefer the look and structure of this cotbed.

The cotbed was easy to build as it came with clear instructions. We put it up as both a bed and a cot to see how easy it was and the change is fairly simple. Once built it is sturdy and feels very secure- something that you need to consider when buying for baby. The ends are very thick solid wood and there are plastic coatings on the top of the rails which are described as teething rails- this will hopefully protect the wood from damage as well when baby gets bigger!

The only thing worth noting is that you are only paying for the bed so need to choose a mattress to go with it. We got a mattress from the same shop as the cot. The other thing we found disappointing is that the matching furniture to the cot was discontinued so if you are looking to get a matching nursery suite this may not be the one for you.

Our son loves his cot, and with the adjustable mattress height we have no worries about it being a safe a reliable purchase as he grows.

An ideal piece of nursery furniture

Having decided on a Winnie The pooh theme for my son's nursery I then discovered this Winnie The Pooh cot bed on the Toys R Us website, I instantly fell in love with it and simply had to have it! (Plus it matched my nursery!!)

I wanted to have a cot bed for my son as I just thought we would get a lot more use with it. For anyone that isnt aware what a cot bed it, it is just a normal cot for whilst the baby is small, but when the baby is big enough to sleep in a bed, the sides come off and the legs split in two so they are shorter, it is then converted into a bed. So I figured that we will be able to use this until our son is roughly 7ish years old.

I ordered it online with Toys R us, after a huge fiasco (see my other review on Toys R us) the cot bed finally arrived five weeks after I ordered it. The instructions were very clear and it was very easy to put together, of course I am saying this from a spectator's point of view as my husband put it all together, I just told him what to do!! There are three mattress height positions, they recommend you use the highest one whilst your baby cannot sit up, as it is easier to put your baby in and out of the cot without straining your back. You should then move it to the second one down when your baby can sit up, when your baby can stand you should move it to the lowest one, this will prevent your baby from climbing out, until they figure out how to pull themselves up on the bars!!

The cot is a very beautiful piece of furniture, it is made from solid pine and has Winnie the Pooh figures etched into the ends. The cot has plastic teething rails on the tops of the sides, this is so that when your baby develops teeth and can stand up he won't be able to chew away the wood, plus it won't damage his teeth or mouth if he does attempt to!! The thing I found most useful was that it has a drawer on wheels that fits under the cot and slides in and out, our nursery is quite small and I did worry that we wouldn't have enough storage space but this drawer is very large and so far contains all of Rhys' clothes.

The cotbed didn't come with a mattress, you must purchase this separately, you need a mattress that measures 140cm x 70cm. I bought this from Argos, a sprung mattress cost me £27. The dimensions of the cot bed are 99cm high, 147cm long and 75cm wide.

I love this cotbed, in fact it is my favourite piece of furniture in the nursery.
