I know the Wii Fit is often laughed at by the majority of teenagers, but I find the game to be great. It provides a fun and easy way to exercise, which is something a lot of kids could use nowadays. I''ve had the game for a while now and it has really helped me on a daily basis. My father has lost several pounds just from running every night. I really enjoy all of the features. I especially like the wide range of games that tend to intrigue children and teens. The yoga also seems to be popular among my mother and her friends. The game seems to have something for the majority of age groups. I like the whole system of earning points that comes with the Wii Fit as well. Allowing users to keep a detailed chart of their progress is an excellent way of encouraging people to keep coming back. The Calorie counting system is also very good for encouragement. This allows people to set their own personal goals that they wish to work towards everyday. This feature has definitely helped me and I find it very good. I find that the entire interface is easy to use and I personally wasted no time figuring everything out. Overall, I found the entire game to be both interesting and extremely entertaining. It is fun for the whole family and for parties. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun game to enjoy with a group of friends.
Wii fit plus is an official Nintendo Wii game which was released in 2009. It is an upgrade to the original 'Wii Fit' game.
The game is suitable for those over 3 years old. You will need both a nunchuk controller and a Wii balance board to be able to play all of the games on this disc. The balance board weight limit is 150kg or 23st 8lbs.
As it is an exercise programme as well as a game there are warnings on the box not to put excessive strain on your body and to consult a doctor before taking up the programme if you have existing medical conditions.
You do not need to have the original Wii Fit game however, if you have the original game this disc will copy your saved data on your console from the original game so you will not lose any of your high scores.
The games are mostly for 1 player at a time, but you can save the data of many 'Mii' characters and it is quick to change from one player to the next so you can still play it with others, taking it in turns. If your friend wants to play it they can use a guest character so you don't need to set up a profile for them if you don't wish to. This game has a much easier set up for multiple players than the original wii fit.
As I have already reiewed the original Wii Fit game I wont repeat myself and will focus mainly on what extras are included one the 'Plus' copy. All of the original content can also be found on this game.
Weighing pets and children is added on this game. It does tell you not to take a lot of notice of the childrens ideal weight because children grow at a different rates. To weigh my cat it asked me for its name and date of birth and then you can choose an appearance. Then it asks you to stand on by yourself while it weighs you, then asks you to pick up your animal and it will weigh them with you. After doing this, when playing games such as cycling, my mii will be cycling and the little cat will run alongside me. Really cute! I found the board accurate to use to weigh people and animals.
There are new exercise routines including new yoga and aerobic exercises and you can now set up your own routine made up of your favourite exercises and games which you can save and use again and again. You can also set a goal of how many calories you want to lose in each session and it will tell you how many you have burned after each game or exercise and also how many more you need to burn to reach your goal.
There are new upgraded versions of some of the original Wii Fit games such as a new bubble burst, table tilt and jogging as well as some brand new games.
The new balance games include golf, snowball fighting, riding a segway and skateboarding. They are all fun ways of combining exercise and gaming and are really enjoyable.
The Snowball fighting has your Mii character stood behind a barrier and opponents will throw snowballs at you. You need to lean from side to side to use the barrier to dodge snowballs and pop out to throw them back. You earn points for each hit and can continue to score points until you either run out of time or lose your 3 lies. Each life will go if you are hit, but can recharge with time if you hide behind the barrier.
With skateboarding you tilt your board lengthways as if it was a real skateboard and start with one foot on the floor to push off and gain speed. You need to ride your skateboard over neon strips to gain points, if you get the required amount of points you will progress to the next level. They get harder as you progress, later having to do jumps, go over ramps and ride along rails. This is quite hard work but also good fun.
I wasn't too sure whether this game would be worth getting as I already had Wii Fit and was quite happy with it. It does have some really good add ons and is really enjoyable. Getting high scores will unlock harder levels of exercise and games to keep you interested and trying them again and again. It's really good if you have others playing as it adds an extra bit of competition.
The sound and graphics are quite childish for games, but not so much in the exercises. This doesn't take away from the fun of the games for adults though.
I usually find new console games far too expensive but this is really reasonable in my opinion. It costs £17.99 in Argos or £7.49 including delivery from Amazon so it's well worth shopping around. This is a game for all the family and one which you can play again and again so I would definitely recommend it.
==Wii Fit Plus==
The Wii Fit had already sold very well, so how could they make it better. Well having been addicted to the Wii Fit, I found that there were several ways it could improve such as making things more customized. I loved the original Wii Fit because it felt so interactive with the use of a virtual personal trainer who was very positive and motivating and also a use of great features that were easy to use and good for both beginners and advanced users alike. Then the Wii Fit Plus came along and I think they did a great job on it.
==How Is It Different From The Wii Fit?==
This isn't a sequel, but more of an enchantment of Wii Fit. The Wii Fit Plus works has the exact same routines as a Wii Fit, but this time you do not need to unlock so many routines. All the routines that were on Wii Fit are also on the Wii Fit Plus. There are also more routines that are extended and there are more options to customize workouts according to your needs. It also includes a routine for overindulging.
Another addition to the Wii Fit Plus is that it can also tell you how many calories you've burned off during this work out as well as found out how they are equivalent in food. I think that this is a really useful tool for those who need an accurate idea of how much weight they've lost.
I personally like these new features because one of the best things about the Wii Fit products is that they are very motivating, lighthearted and easy to do. This makes me want to work even harder to shed more weight and get fit. The Wii Fit Plus is also something good to get if you've already got a Wii Fit and you're looking to take things on to the next level.
One of the features that I find very novelty like is the ability for your pets to have a profile on the game but they can only be weighed. A human would have to supervise and would also need to have a body test themselves so their weight doesn't count in the weight in.
== Experience ==
My experience with the Wii Fit plus has been an absolute pleasure. I think it really is worth the money and it really is good because it means if you don't feel like going to the gym, you can use the wii fit instead. To make it work even more, you can use it with a combination of a healthy and active lifestyle. I'm no longer obese according to my BMI, so it's obviously worked.
I do admit that sometimes doing the same routines can be repetitive and boring. This was one of the issues I had with the original Wii Fit, but the new features and the ability to have routines mixed and matched for you solves this issue.
The Wii Fit Plus does it's best to make results as accurate as possible with the inclusion of fitness tips, balance tests and asking how heavy your clothes are. However, this can also create pathways for people to cheat, but that doesn't really matter because cheating isn't a long-term solution.
My only proper complaint is that it can't be used when the batteries are low and it keeps on trying to reboot the system which gives a sense of false hope. Though this hasn't really got anything to do with the Wii Fit itself, but could perhaps be due to the poor quality of the batteries or the fact they just had their day.
My ultimate conclusion that this is really worth getting if you have a Wii and if you're both a gamer and want to lose some weight, than this would be a really great combination because you are able to do both. I think this is an essential game and it can really improve your health and well being with this.
My wife and I decided in June after booking a fantastic holiday to Florida earlier in the year, that we needed to do something to lose a few pounds as we didn't want to be restricted on the rides we could go on at Disney World and Universal in Orlando.
We had heard about the Wii Fit for probably a year or so and the general consensus was that over all it was a beneficial way of losing weight.
Well with that in mind we went out one evening after leaving work to see if we could find one in the local supermarkets. With no luck in Asda and indeed very little in the way of Wii games at all we tried Tesco. Tesco were selling the Wii Fit Plus for £85 and another brand for around £55. The Wii Fit Plus is made up of a "game" and balance board which is roughly 1.5ft wide by 1ft deep and a matter of a couple of inches high and it is possible to buy legs to increase the height for more effective use of step up activities.
Little were we to know when opening the box how sadistic the Wii Fit Plus would be, but after we both set our profiles up and standing on the balance board to be weighed and saw our Mii's being stretched into shape it was clear that we would be in for a long haul.
Wii Fit Plus uses data held in your profile to work out your BMI which is does when you use either the Simple Test or Body Test functions when choosing your Mii in the Wii Fit Plaza. The Simple Test measures your weight and calculates your BMI which appears on a chart. This has no effect on the amount you wish to gain / lose through the Body Test function but can overwrite an earlier daily measurement if you agree. The Body Test also checks you centre of balance at which point you can end the Test or continue with a test that it uses to measure your body's agility or suppleness in an attempt to provide a Wii age - which is a little unfair as I have been given Wii Fit ages between 20 and 80.
The main "game" is divided into a number of sections - balance, aerobic, muscle and yoga are the ones we have used most. There are some fun games within the sections:
Balance - a game where you rock from side to side as a penguin catching fish, another where you try to head a football (without heading the football boots), a balance game where you try to manoeuvre yourself whilst on a bubble along a water course being chased by bees trying to pop the bubble, a game where you try to walk a tightrope, a ski jump, skate boarding and ski slalom, a game where you are balancing on a ball whilst trying to juggle balls in a circus ring
Aerobics - a cycling game where you have to travel around a variety of locations and travel through flags, a job where you run with a Mii trainer and dog / cat, step games and games where you walk in step whilst using the numchuck and controller in rhythm as you walk along a parade and several games where you try to move your hips to keep up one or more hula hoops.
We rarely use yoga or the muscle assignments because we find just by looking at the tasks that we can't even get in the positions! I have tried the bicep toning exercise and tried the palm tree pose but found that even these were too tasking.
The Wii Fit Plus also expands on these games and there are jogging tasks where starting on 10 minutes you can increase to 30 minutes dependant on successful completion of earlier missions. Many games from the aerobics and balance games appear which can increase in difficulty including cycling and bubble balance.
The Wii Fit Plus contains a calorie counter which is based on the number of steps or amount of movement that it has measured. In general aerobic games have the biggest effect and after 30 minutes of workout the Wii Fit shows this as an achievement on top of the balance board on screen. During one of my exercise sessions I have managed to get to about 450 calories - on a 20 minute job and by doing other activities but it is not easy to burn calories or in fact lose weight!
Between buying the Wii Fit Plus and our holiday we both lost around 4-6lbs which was a reasonable amount but not as much as we had hoped and now after returning from our holiday we have to repeat the exercise - what joy!
What we have found is the balance board is quite sensitive and with a bouncy floor would give readings that changed the BMI or weight simply by getting off and stepping back on the balance board. Apart from weight and BMI there is also the opportunity to include your own step data to your daily measurements. However, relying on the weight measurements from using the balance board is unreliable.
Like many Wii games continuous play can lose appeal but it does make keep fit a slightly more pleasing activity and avoids the embarrassment of meeting friends or colleagues whilst out on a jog. The Wii Fit Plus is fun but in short measures and will continue to be used in our home for the foreseeable future.
Wii Fit Plus is a fun way to lose weight. There are lots of games, muscle workouts and even yoga to do. It's a very useful program. They keep track of your weight and how many calories you burned altogether and from one exercise. You can make your own workout using yoga exercises and muscle workouts. They also have a collection of their own workouts depending on your goal. For the yoga exercise and muscle workouts you pick either a male or female trainer(I personally prefer the female). They explain and lead you through the exercise and tell you if you are losing your balance and they even know if you took a break in the middle but they don't shout about it. Wii fit Plus also keep track of the games and workouts you do a lot or rarely. Wii Fit Plus has everything covered and is a very good option for losing weight. I don't use wii fit plus for losing weight but for keeping in shape and most of all having fun exercising. Wii fit plus is perfect for all the family to keep in shape while competing against other family members score. It is also a reasonable price.
All in all you don't need to spend this kind of money to lose weight. You could lose weight faster by running or cycling and get some fresh but it's good for a rainy. As of right now mine is sitting there collecting dust.
We have had a Wii for years but after the initial excitement it sat in the cupboard unused as my husband does not like it and prefers the Xbox so until my children were old enough to use it we found it collected dust. After my operation I became a couch potato as I could not really move for the first 4 weeks and was on ordered bed rest when it came to exercising again I had no motivation and I decided to purchase the Wii fit board and Wii fit plus game to try and get up and at least making an effort.
**Setting up **
Once you put the disc in and load the game you are asked to make a Wii Mii which is a character you create for yourself by choosing hair, eyes and body etc. This will be the little animation that represents you on screen throughout the game. Then it comes to the body test where you are asked your height and weighed but also given other tests to generate your Wii fit age which includes balancing an equal amount of weigh on each leg and hitting targets.
I am terrible at balance and this was one of the tests and I got an age of 40 (I am only 23) I was mortified but thankfully this how reduced since my first attempt at the body test. Each time you log in once you have set up your profile you are greeted with a chart with your progress and also your goal weight if you have set one so you can track your progress which I find really handy. You can add up to eight different accounts on your Wii fit game and if you are sensitive about your weight or results you can add a password to your profile.
**In play **
Once you enter the main section on the game you can choose what type of exercise you would like to do you have a choice of
Yoga- This is pretty much self-explanatory it shows you a number of yoga moves for you to copy and the balance board tracks your balance and posture to check you are doing them correctly. As you perfect each one you gain extra yoga exercises to complete which become more complex but it does mean you can see when you are becoming better and means the choice is not as limited.
Muscle workouts - As with the yoga you are given a personal trainer who shows you how to complete exercises that will help tone your muscles again these start of simple and you can unlock harder poses as you go on. The board tracks how you hold your body weight and if you are doing them wrong it will give you tips; if you are doing them correctly it will congratulate you and encourage you to continue.
Aerobics - this is one of my favourite areas which contain the hula hoop, step aerobics, jogging and boxing. These are my favourite as they are the ones that burn the most calories and actually make me feel like I have worked up a sweat. With each one you can choose the length of time for each game meaning you can build your work up as you feel more confident.
Balance- There are a number of games which test your balance and these are the most fun as some of the games make you look really silly but as I am useless at balancing I am always rubbish at these and my children think it is hilarious. The games include things like skiing and a tight rope and are generally a lot less fast paced than the other exercises on the game.
This is another area the game builds again on the first Wii fit game and it has fifteen additional games included most of them tend to be more balance games although there are a few aerobics like cycling. I love the obstacle course and the cycling personally but these added games help when you become a little bored with the original games in the main section. There is also a game to flap your arms like a bird to try and land on targets it is great fun flapping around and causes my children to squeal in amusement.
This is my favourite part of the game you can choose from different areas of what you would like to improve like your thighs and then it will suggest workouts you should consider. This is great and it shows what works outs complement each other and work on what you are hoping to achieve. You can then pick your favourite yoga exercises and muscle workouts to complete a training routine for yourself which is then saved for each time you come back to the game. You can remove any of the exercises and add more when you feel like it so it does not become repetitive and tedious but at the same time it is also a sense of routine.
**Calorie counter **
You can go in to a catalogue of foods and it shows you how many calories they are it has things like a large slice of chocolate cake, a can of coke and a wide range of other products for you to choose from and once you select one of them each time you complete a workout it will show you how many calories you need to burn before that indulgence has been worked off. Although depending on portion size this may not be accurate what I do like is it gives you a real glimpse of just how long it takes to burn a certain amount of calories and it really does make you think twice.
Even if you do not pick an item to burn off from the catalogue after each exercise you complete it shows you roughly how many calories you have burnt and this keeps a running total for each one you complete which helps to give me a push to continue and also a goal to beat the next day which can make the game really addictive.
**Controls and navigating **
Most of the exercises need to be done on the Wii fit board and the game is not compatible without it but you do need the Wii remote also .Certain exercises like jogging you do not need the board you just hold the remote in your hand but I do not use the jogging game often as I feel daft jogging on the spot in my living room getting strange looks from my children.
It is easy to navigate around the game by clicking menus that are logically thought out. Everything is clearly labelled and as you go through the game everything is explained to you (maybe a little too much) so even for someone like myself who is terrible on the Wii I can easily find myself around the game.
I find that if I use my Wii fit board on the carpet like scales they tend to be really unreliable in weighing correctly and I have had 10 lbs added in the matter of hours and then thankfully when I weighed myself in the bathroom it showed that the Wii board was playing up so I had to go back and then I was 5lbs less than my actual weight. This does make it really unreliable and I am not sure how reliable the calorie counter is either but it is nice to have some sort of guidance on what the results are.
I really like the Wii fit plus although I am aware it is not great exercise way I figure anything that has me up and moving is better than nothing and I really do enjoy using it. It can be a good giggle watching someone else playing some of the games and embarrassing when you are flapping your arms like a bird but that is all part of the fun. I brought mine with the Wii board and I believe it cost me around £70 in all for the set but you can buy the game separately for around £18 if you brought the board with the original Wii fit game.
The games can become boring and I do find I have times where I will use my Wii fit daily and other times when I log on to find it has been 49 days since my last visit (oops) but I do find this mixed with other forms of exercise and a healthy diet can help to both motivate me to exercise and be fun to do.
I'm a fairly healthy person, I eat relatively healthily and run around after the kids all day but since injuring my knee last summer I have been unable to continue with my daily run which I've been doing for the last couple of years. To be fair I have only put on a few pounds since stopping running but as I graduate in 3 weeks, and have bought a lovely dress, I wanted to try and shift the extra few pounds. About 3 or 4 weeks ago I decided to buy the Wii Fit Plus. We had a Wii Fit a few years ago and I used it a lot to shift some weight after having my youngest child, and surprisingly it worked. I didn't think any exercise linked to a games console could possibly work and would be fun more than anything but as I knew it worked the first time, I figured I'd try it again. Being a working mum to two children it is difficult to find time to go to a gym etc, as after work, my time with the children is important. The Wii Fit Plus is the perfect way to be able to exercise in your home (in my case as soon as the children go to bed), and you can have fun along the way too.
The Wii Fit Plus is a new and improved version of the original Wii Fit and contains new exercises and new games, as well as new features. It helps with the ability to help develop bodily balance control, burn fat, help tone and condition muscle and increase aerobic stamina.
Good old features of the original are still available such as checking your weight and BMI (and this is usually fairly accurate to my own scales which surprised me!), your centre of gravity (this affects posture and a good centre of gravity can increase the speed at which you burn calories). You can also still set goals to lose weight and reduce BMI over a period of time that you chose. The Wii Fit also tests your 'Wii Fit Age' which should be as close to your real age as possible (mine is currently 4 years younger than my own, yippee!).
There are six new exercises which are added to the original workouts. The improvement that I noticed straight away is it seems to be much quicker to access the exercises and seems to be simplified, so you can start exercising after a few clicks rather than having to read through the sometimes long and never ending narratives that seemed to pop up. You can also now work on set areas of your body (bum, hips or thighs) and do specialised workout routines by adding your favourite exercises to it, or asking the Wii Fit Plus to do it for you. Basically, the Wii Fit Plus has become a customised exercise program just for you. This is perfect if you have a certain area you need to work on. You can also work for a set period of time chosen by you.
Other new features of this game include new balance games and a calorie counter which is quite handy as it adds a MET (Metabolic equivalent) value to each exercise so you can calculate the calories burnt while you work out. This is really handy especially if you have over indulged, and you know you have burnt a certain amount of it off. The random part which I find just a little bizarre is a support feature for cats and dogs! The Pet Fit Plus allows you to weigh your cat or dog and keep track of their fitness using their own special game profile. Okkkkay then!
My favourite part of the original Wii Fit was the Step exercises within the Aerobic section and it's nice to see this still here (with new songs!!!). There are also new courses for jogging, as well as 3 new Yoga exercises and 3 new muscle exercises. The game sees 15 new balance games which include cameos from Super Mario. There is also a Segway game which is quite funny, a new cycling game, a snowball fight, a skateboard arena and 'big top juggling'.
Multiplayer mode allows you to play through a number of games with up to 8 players who take turns to use the one Balance Board. This is a good addition to the original game as my children would often want to play along with me but we would have to log out of whoever's Mii we were using and log into another player. This allows us all to play along together without the faff of it telling us we weigh different to before (by about 6 stone!) as we switch between adults and children.
For those new to the Wii, the Wii Fit Plus must be used in conjunction with a Wii Balance Board. We picked up the game for £14.99 from Amazon. Expect to pay around £25/£30 for a Wii Fit Balance Board.
All in all an excellent game to have fun as well as keep an eye on your BMI by completing fairly simple exercises which will increase in difficulty through time and as you improve. This never really feels like exercise for me and I enjoy it every time. My children often want to join in and so this promotes a healthy lifestyle for them too. My 6 year old is now a master at the yoga pose 'The Warrior'!
I have always been into fitness so when the Wii Fit Plus became available I just had to buy it and give it a go. This game is packed with loads of helpful features that are designed to help you keep fit and have fun while doing so.
So first things first, to play the game you need to create a user profile, this is very important as this is where all your data will be stored within the game. To create a user profile you simply create a Mii on the Wii Home Menu, or if you already have one, select your Mii and then enter in your personal details (this will be prompted from you when you are setting up your personal profile) you will be asked for details such as your age and height (it is important to get these right as later your BMI will be calculated using these figures along with your weight) you will also be asked for your date of birth, this is asked of you as the Wii Fit Plus will calculate your Wii Fit Age (which calculates how responsive and fit you are by doing three varied activities testing mental ability and also physical ability), this will then be compared to your real age.
Now that you have got your profile up and going, the fun can begin. If you want to exercise, then you click on the 'Training' buttons that are easily located on the screen. You have a choice of the following activities:
Yoga is a great way to warm up before a workout, it is great to improve balance, posture and also tone muscles. On the Wii Fit Plus game there are a range of different Yoga stances including 'The Half Moon', 'The Warrior' and many others, there is also a 'Deep Breathing' exercise that you can do which is good to either start off or finish a workout. I really enjoy the Yoga on the Wii Fit Plus and think that it is really easy to learn with the instructions from the Wii Fit Trainer and the balance board makes sure your posture is right while doing the exercises. You are also told if you are doing the stance right and praised, or if you are not doing a stance right you are told and recommended on how to do it right (for example you may be told to lean less weight on your right leg)
* Balance Games
Balance games are a bit more fun on the Wii Fit Plus as they are much less serious than other workouts. Some of the games in this category are for example, heading footballs, walking on a tightrope or skiing down a hill and avoiding obstacles. These games are a great way to work on your balance and posture in a fun way. I really enjoy playing the balances games and in our family we can get very competitive when it comes to achieving high scores, the football game in particular is a favourite in our house.
* Muscle workouts
Muscle workouts on the Wii Fit Plus are a bit more serious (like the Yoga) they are used on this game within your workout to build and tone your muscles. Workouts last around 3 minutes or so and you are firstly shown how to do an exercise properly by your 'Personal Trainer' then it is your turn. Your balance is measured on the board to see if you are doing the exercise properly and you are counted in on your movements so then you know when to do what exactly (for example when to lift your legs and when to lower them down). Some examples on the Wii Fit Plus of 'Muscle Workouts' include 'Push Ups', 'Torso Twists' and 'Single Leg Extensions'. I really enjoy the muscle workouts on this game and think that they serve a purpose being on the game and within your fitness routine.
Aerobics on the Wii Fit Plus are really fun to do and possibly my favourite part of the Wii Fit game. These games are designed to help you lose weight and tone up by raising the pace of your workout and getting you moving. Most of these games involve you putting your Wii Remote in your pocket to measure your hip movement, examples of the games in the Aerobic games on the Wii include 'Step Aerobics', 'Hula hooping' and 'Jogging'. I really enjoy the aerobics aspect of the Wii Fit Plus and there is a good variety of exercises and this is great because you never get bored.
* Training Plus
Training Plus is a range of new mini games on the Wii Fit Plus. This is the most varied part of the game with a range of varied games on it that get you up and moving and also having fun and using your brain. Some examples of mini games on the Training Plus include 'Clown Juggling', 'Obstacle Course', 'Skate Boarding', 'Perfect 10 Adding Game' and 'Snowball Fight'. These games are great fun and great for kids on a rainy day when they can't go outside and exercise, I am an adult and I even enjoy the too. They are a really light hearted way to make sure you have exercised a bit and they are ranked with scores so they can also, like the Balance Games, get competitive within the family.
Other features on the Wii Fit Plus include, 'The Daily Fitness Tip' this is provided when you log on with your User Profile. You can also choose your own personal trainer who helps you set goals for workouts and recommends you personal tailored exercise routine. There is a daily calorie counter and also a timer that tells you how much you have exercised in that day. Another great feature of this game is 'The Daily Test' that measures your posture and centre of gravity, your weight and your Wii Fit Age, all the results from this test is saved and stored onto a graph that you can later look back on and see your progress over a week, month, year or longer.
The Wii Balance Board is white and looks quite like scales, it takes 4 AA batteries, I have found that batteries in this board last a long time and that the board is quite durable, it hasnt showed any signs of working less efficiently or breaking since I bought it and that is after using it almost every day for more than a year.
The interface on this game is really easy to understand and it does not take long to navigate through to where you want to go in the game from the title screen. The only drawbacks that I can think of for this game is perhaps the graphics aren't that great however I think that cartoon style graphics are all part of Nintendo's charm. Also it is not possible for two people to work out simultaneously on this game, this can make playing multiplayer quite boring sometimes.
Overall I would give this game 8 out of 10 and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get fit but doesn't like boring workout routines, it is a really good buy.
You can buy the Wii Fit Plus and the required Wii Board in Game, HMV, GameStop or online. When I bought this game it cost me around £90, however I can see it online for around £60, which is a great deal as you'll get plenty of play for your money.

I received this Wii game for my birthday in January and since then I have used it quite a bit. It differs from the normal Wii Fit as it allows you to, for example, do the Hula Hoop "workout" in a faster and longer mode. It also allows you to carry out aerobic workouts for longer periods of time and has harder settings to enable you to push yourself. I use this quite often as I love the help you are provided with such as tips and calculations - the calculations allow you to work out how many calories you burn by doing different types of exercise. When you start, you set yourself a goal - the BMI you wish to have by a certain time. You are then tested on balance and other skills and I have to say, I learnt a lot about myself. One of which is I have good posture as when I started the Wii Fit Plus, I was made to stand on the Wii Fit Board as I would normally stand and it measured how much pressure/weight I was putting on each foot/side of my body. The blue circle was almost exactly in the middle, giving me motivation to work on other aspects such as balance. The balance test is where you have to lean on one foot more than the other to make sure the line is inside a box for 3 seconds and as you go further in the challenge, the boxes got smaller, making it harder and enabling you to push yourself. I personally think this is fantastic as I am quite a determined person and I pushed myself to be able to carry out the different challenges. There are also a range of activities and workouts you can do. One of which, you have a personal trainer who tells you how to carry out different exercises, for example sit ups. I found a lot of different exercises and am able to carry them out whenever I want because I was taught them by the Wii Fit Plus! The only disadvantage I can think of with this is that you have to wait for it to boot up, however, this is like every other computer game. I would recommend it to anybody and especially for those that can't do exercise for 3 hours straight like others, it is a really good day to day workout and you will see the results. The stamina I have got from just doing a few days of exercise a week on the Wii Fit is astonishing! So give it a go...it's not even that expensive!
this is a great idea and very much fun to do. create your own character including looks, shape etc by following the instructions on screen. these characters will be in the mii section of your wii. log in your details and the comuter will take your weight and give you excercises and challenges to work out your physical age. the information is then stored and you can then set yourself targets to lose weight or stay the same. you can follow the physical trainer on screen or do general games which help excercise in a fun way. my favourite is the running and the stepping excercises. fantastic if you are in a group as you can see each others progress and compete and have a great laugh. the kids love this as they compare themselves to parents and grown ups. only down side is the space required to use it and with the kinnect out on the xbox it is harder to keep interested in this. the best part about this is for older generation. the yoga and gentle exercise is extremely good. you do need patience though and it can be extremely demoralising when you complete the excercises for ages and ages and then see you have not burned off many calories. still very much an enjoyable experience but hard to muster the enthusiasm to use on a regular basis. best of all is seeing your folks trying to do most of the exercises then realising they can do them better than you. oh and the little pig exercise counter adds a bit of humour to the package.
who is it for?
everyone. harder for younger children as they are still growing so can show them as overweight or underweight when they are actually healthy but it does say this on the screen as they put in their details.
value for money?
can be a bit on the expensive side for the board which you must have to play this but if you are hoping to exercise at home then this is a good gentle way to do it. if you have the wii fit already then your original data will be stored and the original games are still available just with the new exercises added
what sort of exercise is it?
exercises vary from following a personal trainer and doing yoga to fairly energetic actions like running and keeping time to more fun ones like using your bottom to hit the numbers beside you which is actually quite fun but you need to use your mind as they have numbers on them and you have to add them up as you go
best played alone or with friends?
either. if you are self conscious about your weight then you can password your details so noone else can see them. be warned if you are with a group of friends you will end up laughing at each other
initially played this loads and found it very entertaining but after a few weeks started to lose enthusiasm to keep setting up the board and do the exercises. have to be determined to use this regularly
can make you feel worse than ever when it says you are overweight
I was a big fan of the Wii Fit and managed to get it before it was sold out for months on end.... I especially like the aerobic games such as hula hooping and the step class. With Wii Fit plus you have a few extra games like snow ball fighting, cycling, segway fun and a game where you flap like a chicken to get from a to b. It's grat fun and it has the addition of a calorie counter so it not only tells you how many mintues you have been playing for but also says how many calories you have burnt. It wont be that accurate but it's fun to see how many you have burnt and work towards a goal.
It has all the usual games that wii fit has to offer, i dont think its the best at keeping people fit, but would help to lose some weight if you played it a lot!
I'm a regular couch potato, many, many pounds overweight, going to a gym/exercise class is something I would never, never do, but in my heart of hearts I know I need to move more or I will have major health problems. I love computer games, so when I heard of the Wii fitness/sports games that sounded like it might be the answer.
So, I have now owned a Wii and a balance board for some months. I was encouraged to discover that the balance board did not rule me out because I was too heavy, I was actually well within its weight range (think it takes up to about 300lbs, maybe more, but check that out if it is an issue for you). And yes, it has been a partial success - I will freely admit I do not use it as regularly as I should, I go in fits and starts. It would no doubt do more good if I were more dedicated!!
On the plus side, Wii Fit Plus has got me doing more exercise than I used to and actually enjoying it, which is a first. In the months I have been using it, I have lost about 4lbs, which is no great shakes in the weight loss stakes, less than a pound a month, but compared to the last 2 years when I have gone up 6lbs, it is a definite improvement. Some of the exercises available to me are too difficult for me, can't cope yet, but there are plenty of things I can do. I think additional exercises become available as you improve as well.
On the down side, it still hasn't got me doing as much exercise as I hoped it would, but I was probably hoping for the impossible if I am honest. I'm also inclined to play the exercise games rather than do the genuine yoga/other exercises. Also, I live in a smallish flat and you do need a reasonable amount of space around you so you don't bash into the furniture - that can be a problem for me, but if you live in a reasonable size, uncluttered space you should be fine!
All in all, I rate it a definite success, it's a great bit of kit, I have had no problems with working it and it definitely has got me moving a bit more, which was what I wanted. And I do keep going back to it, even when I've had a lengthy break.
The first of January my New Year resolution was to lose weight but by the end of March. It wasn't going very well as I was losing a few pounds and then easily putting it back on again. I got very bored of the diets and doing my own fitness routines at home.
I was in town with my son one day at Game Station as my son wanted a new Wii console game and I saw the Wii Fit Plus and thought I would try it out, what have I got to lose. I liked the idea of the Wii Fit Plus as you can do a workout at home and at any time that suits you.
I like the Wii Fit Plus as it offers so much more than just a boring fitness routine like some of the other fitness routines I have tried over the years.

The wii fit plus is a must have with it's custom made exercise routines, multiple games and sports activities and being able to spend 40 minutes on it and being told you have lost the calories equivient to one ice cream cone!
There are more activities than you can get bored of and your friends are always going to get a laugh watching you play the game (then look even worse themselves when they have a go!)
Trying to weigh the dog is always intresting epecially when it's a fully grown border collie but it's worth doing all in the name of fun!
Even if you don't play on it every day or use it for loosing weight it has a very handy set of scales (which can tell you off for gaining weight - the first time you have to explain to a computer game why you have gained weight and actually try to reason with it will make you laugh - but it's also just great fun to play!
I personally hate going to the gym for the simple reason that I dislike the thought of people watching me work out - which I know most of the time they definitely are not. Its the same for jogging, you never know who is looking at you!
Nintendo really hit the nail on the head when they came up with this fantastic game. This version is the more improved version of the popular 'Wii Fit'.. except they did not rename, just added a 'plus'. The plus simply contains more variety of games and a few more features.
Once you have completed the basics on the game, such as making your own 'Mii' character, you may begin your training. The game is compatible with the 'balance board' and does not work unless you use one. I purchased my game with the balance board, but they come seperately too.
The balance board is used to measure your centre of gravity (COG), weight and also the pressure on each foot etc throughout each game. By telling the game your height and age, they measure your weight and tell you your BMI. This helps you work with the game to come up with a goal weight target and a time frame in which to achieve this.
During the game you can make your own fitness regimes or pick games at random to play. I have not ventured too much into the 'My Wii Fit Plus' section, but I know you can input other activities you have done and different food you have eaten throughout the day. You may also set a calorie target, so all activities tell you the average calories you may have burnt and you keep going until you have reached this.
At the end of each workout you are told how long you have spent on the game also, so it is very target focused.
You can also find a section that is set routines for specific areas of your body. For example if you think your stomach is your 'problem area', the Wii has come up with a special work out for you to improve this area. The areas you can choose from are stomach, bum, legs and arms. They are made up from a combination of muscle exercises, yoga and games. There is around 5 activities for each area and you are allowed to make up your own. I have found that on google people post routines that work best for them so you can copy and try it for yourself.
The game can be brought from most Game shops aswell as Amazon, Ebay, Play.com, Curry's, HMV and various supermarkets - pretty much anywhere!
The game alone costs £14.99-£19.99 depending on where you decide to purchase it from. The balance board alone costs £40-£60. When brought with the board it costs around £60.
I have used Wii Fit Plus almost every day for about 7 months now and it honestly is helping to keep my body in shape and I have lost around 2 stone (despite putting some on over Christmas). I tend to use the game 3 times a week but sometimes I only have time for one or two exercises which is not ideal. So obviously depending on useage you may loose more or less than myself.
I would really recommend it to anyone who does not have the time or money to get a gym membership. It really helps and knowing that your in your own living room gives you a piece of mind that nobody is around.
