Playing games is always a fun thing for me to do but this latest game I found very boring and poor. The game is named Family Game Night and you are playing against Mr Potato Head from the Toy Story movies. Basically you have four games and they are Operation, Battleships, Connect 4 and Bop it. Some of these games people are going to know quite well as they are Hasbro games and this is the same people who have helped create this game. You can play either of the games either against the computer or against friends but the aim is to try and get the best scores possible to unlock new features. You might unlock new destinations to play your games or new avatars for you to change and play around with. I will start with the game which I find most unrealistic and that is Operation. This game will give you a picture and you have a human body and you click on the piece they want you to remove but you have a challenge to get it out. You can move the item at various angles to fit around the body parts but you always end up losing. You have 3 lives and if you hit something three times you usually have game over and the problem is even when you move a piece to a new angle the game tends to make the piece move again by acting as if there is a wind inside the body of the person you are extracting the piece from. I find it very tough and not a great game to play. Next you have Connect 4 where the computer always goes first and although this one is much easier to win and play there is a few issues because the computer sometimes picks the same routes so you know how to beat him every time so it becomes a pointless reason to play. Then you have Bop It which is about the only game I did really enjoy and I have never heard of this game until I played it on this Nintendo DS purchase. You have four things you have to do and quickly. The game plays music and calls out for you to do something and you go ahead and do it and that is it really you want to try and get a high score without performing a wrong manoeuvre. Battleships is as you expect very long winded but the idea is the same as the boardgame by placing your own ships and guessing where the enemies are and first to take all the other opponents ships out win. I was disappointed only four games exist on this game because you unlock so many other things you might have hoped you could unlock new games to play but this is not the case. The graphics are good for some of the games like Connect 4 and Bop It but the operation game the graphics are at best poor. You have game play which is kind of slow throughout there is no real rhythm to the speed and this applies to all the games which sadly makes things much worse and this goes with the sound as well for the best part it is annoying to have on. I cannot see what people gain from this purchase other then playing some of the games now and then and when I see a price tag of around £14 for this I would definitely advise against purchasing a game which is very poor and boring.
