I purchased this for my three year old daughter to play on my DS as it was rated for ages 3+ but she certainly could not have played it by herself as there is a lot of reading to do and also for part of the game you need to sing song notes the same as ariel which my daughter did not really understand. She had great fun laughing at me singing them instead! The story line of the game is that are some strange underwater currents caused by the nasty sea witch which are making things go wrong so Ariel helps out various sea characters to set things right. Ariel also collects Golden seashells along the way and collects human items for her secret cave. When you find objects you want to collect you have to blow the sand off - my daughter enjoyed this and collecting the seashells the most during the game. This can be a single player game or multi-player - we only played the single game but will definatley be playing multi player at some point. We played this game over a few days and completed it in about a week which I think was good as it would get a bit boring for a child if it was too long and complicated. I paid £10 for the game on ebay a few months back and am glad I didnt pay anymore. You can probably get it cheaper if you shop around.
We brought our 4 year old daughter a Nintendo DS with some Christmas money and as she loves Ariel one of the games we brought was this one. The Plot: There's some strange currents under the sea and your job as Ariel is to help your friends, find members of Sebastian's Barnacle Band along with finding human treasure along the way...one thing Ariel always has time for!! There are lots of activities to do and items to collect as you travel under the sea. My daughters favourite thing to do in the game is to find human treasures and collect tiger shells. As an adult I also enjoyed playing the game with her. Some of the challenges are really fun such as blowing bubbles (by blowing into the microphone area) and singing notes to open the treasure chests. The game involves lots of reading. This is a good thing if you have an older child as it helps them to develop and continue their reading. Unfortunately because our daughter has only recently started to read she isn't able to play this game on her own. Other game features: You can save your game and start where you left off next time you want to play. Multiplayer option means you can invite your 'mermaid' friends to join the session you are running and play with you. The game is rated as 3+. In my opinion it's most suited for children over 6+ who are more easily able to play this game independently. However younger children will enjoy playing it if they have an adult to help them with reading all the conversations and instructions. I have to say that because my daughter isn't able to play this game on her own it doesn't get used as much as some of her other games, however I'm sure as she continues to improve her reading she'll no doubt play it more.
The product i'm about to review is The Little Mermaid Ariels Undersea Adventure Nintendo ds game. We brought my daughter hr ds for her 7th birthday we brought it as part of a bundle with other games but out of them all she plays this one the most. The cover is a picture of Ariel and her best friend Founder and the love of her live a human being called Eric under them there is a white what looks like a shell with the title in it and the Disneys logo and a sign saying 3 plus. When turning on the ds with this game in you can chosse what language you would like it will then askin in side bubbles if you would like to go to new game or saved game or options, once chosen new game Ariel will apper on the bottom screen and her father on the top this is where you might be needed to help as it requires some reading. This tells you what your aim is in the game, you have to swim threw different parts of the sea and help Ariel sort out all the problems as you do this there is little things you can do on your way as you come to diferent characters you talk to them. There is music playing as you play there is also video clips of the film. my daughter raves over this game then again so does my 12 year old brother so hay it cant be all that bad as a boy of his age fights over whos having ago next. i cant really comment on what happens once you have sorted the problems Ariels fathers asks her to sort as i haven't seen her do any more than this the graphics is great they make it look real . You can but this game brand new for about £24.99 but look around to see if you can get a bargin. i would highly recomend this game as my daughter plays it for hours and you dont here a peep out of her yes its heaven.
