I bought the asus Eee PC in 2008 and it was probably one of the best investments I have made, the reason is its durability. Ever since I have had it, it has been in the same condition, even if you think that since it's white then it means it will become yellowish or just get really dirty, It just didn't. I was also surprised by its keyboard that doesn't feel like the best quality, but it still lasts forever. I got mine for about 300 euros when I was in Amsterdam airport, so that was probably tax-free too.One detail that really impressed me was the sleeve it includes in the box, I was not really expecting it. It saves you the odd £10.
Hardware wise, I think I got the best I could have gotten back then. However, I think 1 GB of RAM is not enough now for all the tasks a netbook has. But if you just want it for taking notes in a meeting or surfing the internet then that's fine. What is a great is that you can actually add more RAM. So, when it was getting a bit too slow, I just decided to buy another 1 GB RAM and it did a great improvement in its speed. It's small and lightweight and can easily fit in to any handbag or rucksack.
Overall it is a great option, obviously in the market there are more sophisticated ones but for its price, quality and the Asus reputation I believe it is a good deal.
