Well this is an odd one. Now that Elvis' early music has come out of copyright in the UK there are a great many budget CD compilations being released featuring this music, as anyone can legally put out the music and make some money. However there must be a legal grey area here as this set features a new track called LITTLE MAMA which was recorded at a live Elvis show in 1956 but which was lost for decades. It was only first released earlier this year by SONY BMG, Elvis' record label, on a fantastic set called A BOY FROM TUPELO. And yet here it is on a budget release already. My understanding was that it wouldn't be available for 50 years after its first release, which would be 2066. Anyway, despite that, what do you get on this CD? Well you get 24 live recordings from Elvis at his peak in the 1950s, including live renditions of THAT'S ALL RIGHT (his first hit), HEARTBREAK HOTEL and BLUE SUEDE SHOES. The audio quality is pretty good, but not as good as modern recordings, so be prepared for that.
