I got this phone in 2008 because I was attracted by its red colour and the sleek design. I also liked the sliding feature and I often played with it even when I'm not really using the phone. However, this is not a great phone mostly due to the fact that it crashed so many times only a few months after I started using it. I have heard that it is due to some default problems with the hardware, but who knows. I also find that the battery overheats quite easily... This being said, this phone does have some good quality. Easy to use, simple interface, camera is good enough (though it might be considered insufficient with the quality of phone cameras these days...). The mp3 player is also fun to play with, as you can shuffle to the next song with a shake of the phone, which was one of the main advertising features originally. In my opinion, the cons far outweigh the features that this phone has. So if you ask me, don't buy this phone. Much better choices out there, and it's a bit too outdated as well!
Got this phone as I wanted to move on from a bulky Nokia 6680. This came as a slim, light, elegant and more delicate solution, and most of all, a really big screen which I love! Picture quality was very good, and organizing the albums and shots was something that I liked. Videos were ok as well. Text display was big and easy to read. Menu was cheerful and looked modern, everything was at hand and easy to access and as I've had a SE before this one, it was easy for me to operate. The slide keyboard was a plus, since most of the time I was using it without sliding it down, making the phone smaller but keeping the big screen. Some months after I got the phone I started browsing from it, and loved it so much, mostly cause the screen, made all my blogs and facebook easy to visualize. It comes with headphones, quite good ones, and sound quality is good. It has a big memory which allows for a lot of songs and videos. What I also liked is that is has motion sensors; it rotates the pictures when you rotate the phone, and you can install games in which you drive or place balls in holes just by tilting the phone. As downsides: if used to crash more that I would have liked it, and it even broke in the first 4 months; it got scratched fast, but maybe this was my fault; sound quality in speakers is not that good. I would get this phone again though and would recommend it!
I got this phone about 2 years ago, when i first got it, i thought it was great. It came with a memory card and headphones and i could listen to music as well as call all my friends, but now it's broken and i feel let down by it. The buttons stopped working and eventually the screen stopped working too. The music player on the phone was great and with the memory card, it meant i could store a whole heap of songs. There was various functions on it, you could create playlists, have a 'mood' music thing (but i could never work out how to use it :L) you could shuffle and even displayed the album artwork. The headphones that came with it came with a microphone, that meant if your listening to your music, you can still answer your phone and can still hear it ringing. The only thing wrong with the headphones was that you needed to put in the sony ericson cable first before putting in your headphones, but then this meant you could plug in any heapdhones. Other features on the phone were good. You could have 5 alarm clocks all at one time if you wanted. The only bad thing was that you could only have snooze for 9 minutes. The phone also had calculator, file manager, internet and various other applications that come with a phone. This phone was pretty good for all the applications that came with it. The frustrating thing about it is that it froze all the time. The screen would go black and the red light on the back would light. It could take a several minutes to unfreeze but on some occassions it stayed like that for longer. It was really annoying so i went to the phone shop who tried to fix it, but failed and then sent me a new one. That one was the same, so the freezing must be a software problem so everyone on the same software will have this problem. The camera was pretty poor. It's only 2 megapixels so the quality is bad but then it wasn't designed for a camera. Another drawback on the phone is that you weren't able to zoom in, you had to zoom and crop once you had taked the picture and this was incredibly annoying. You could zoom in, in multi shot mode but it meant that you had to take at least four photos. The phone however did have some cool frames that you could use and could take video. So in conclusion, i wouldn't reccomend this phone, although it's great for music, the camera and it's freezing let it down.
I got this phone around 1 1/2 years ago, and i still have it to this day (as a back up phone) Mine came with a 4G memory card Which is more than enough to store a decent amount of music and pictures. The music application is very easy to use and find my way around all my music. The phone has buttons at the top of the phone so you can change your music when you are on the move, so it saves you a bit of time when your out and about. The call/sms functions was very easy to use and the keybord was so simple to use, especially with big thumbs/long fingernails. I love the way you can set diffrent themes and there are many to download if you wanted too. The only flaw i found with this phone was that is scratched rather easy and you cant buy cases or covers to prevent this from happening. I have always loved sony ericsson phones since they are very reliable. The softwear never crashed on me and still hasnt to this day. Even though the camera is 2 megapixle camera, i dont think its that bad. I think this is down to the high resolution screen on the actual phone. Although when i upload the photos to my laptop, they still came out rather well. The sony ericsson CD softwear it came with i couldnt understand it. So i just open my phone files via 'My computer' and copy them to my laptop hard drive. Sooo much easier!
I've always loved Sony Ericssons and have owned a fair few, but this was by far the poorest of them all. Let's start with some plus points: As Sony Ericssons are famous for, this one was easy to use and simply laid out for ease of access. The main function of the phone, other than texting and phoning, was the mp3 player which I couldn't fault. The sound was great and you had the option to create playlists etc. The phone looked great and was ultra slim and were it not for hardware and other manufacturing issues, it would have been a great little phone. Downsides: The camera was only a 2MP which even for an mp3 player phone wasn't great and the photos were average at best. After a few months something broke in the slider and got jammed so I couldn't open the phone and had to send it back to be repaired. Once I received it back it started to freeze which I was told by Sony was a common problem with this phone and they offered to replace the phone with a brand new one. This was great news, until I received the new phone and it had the same problem over and over again. If a phone can't stay on or freezes often then it's simply not functioning as you'd expect and therefore I wouldn't recommend the phone to anyone especially at the prices I'm seeing its still being sold at. I've bought phones for £50 and found them to be far better than this.
I bought this phone about four years ago now and have since changed my phone to a new Sony Ericsson because I have had problems with it. After about a year, it would heat up very quickly and turn itself off almost everyday. I would then need to take the battery out and put it back in again before I could turn it back on as it would not turn straight back on. The other problem I had was that half of the buttons stopped working - only the numbers and navigation keys worked - making use of the phone almost impossible. I don't know whether my phone was faulty but I did nothing to cause these problems. Apart from that, the phone was good and it had some good features. It was easy to use and the fact that the phone had a sliding feature meant that the screen could be made bigger. The weight of the phone was good and it felt comfortable in your hands.
This was my last phone before the one I have now. And I much prefer this one a lot more than new 'newer' one I have now. When I got this phone it was £140 but now Im pretty sure you can pick one up for under £50. I love most Sony Ericsson's anyway. I personally think there the best make of mobiles. This phone is farely slim and attractive. I had it in silver which was nice and shiny. I believe you can get them in quite a few colours for example black, red, silver, purple and other colours. The phone speaker is really good, as are most Walkmen phones. You can get a 4gb memory card for really cheap (like £5) so you can store all your things on your phone such as photos and videos and music. This phone is only 2 mega pixel but its actually better than my phones 3.2 mega pixel... dont understand how that works but it is. This is a really easy to use phone and its nice and simple. It did have one problem it tended to restart it self now and then. But I had that problem with my other Sony Ericsson phones. It has two camera's on so you can video phone people. I never used it but I imagine people who do use it, it would be fun. The internet is quite good on this. The way the files are laid out is really good and simple. A lot better than Nokia's and Samsungs for example. This phone has bluetooth and its good because it has energy saving bluetooth which saves your battery but you can keep it on all the time. I recommend this phone!!
I've had this phone for nearly 2 years and up until about a six months ago I decided to try something different, a phone with symbian... This was one of my biggest mistakes. From this perspective I can tell that Sony Ericsson has nearly best ratio between quality and price. Now, the first thing that attracted me was its design. So simple yet classy. Slim and very light weight. I've chosen it in red and I was amazed with headphones in same color. Funny, but for me it was refreshing. :) As u can see it's a phone with a slide mechanism. The sliding mechanism is spring loaded, which makes opening the phone fairly easy once you get a decent grip on it. I didn't have any problems with it, but i supose you have to be careful with your stuff. D-pad controller instead of a joystick is very good beacuse joystick can be easily damaged. Screen is the largest you can get on a non-smartphone from Sony Ericsson. The color is brilliant and visibility under the sun is good. Excellent keypad with good tactile feedback but you will need time to get used to it. Button response is generally speedy, even when the interface is heavily laden with animation. W910i has large flat keys with small gap between and that isn't fastest keypad for texting, I needed some time to get used to it. The phone can hold up plenty of contacts. There are usual options for attaching ringtones to each contact. You can also define contact groups for texting and browse without any lag through phonebook. You have full range of calling options including speakerphone, call recording, via voice commands you have option to reject calls, or pick any word to activate voice dialing. I had excellent experience with quality of sound through the ear speaker and on speakerphone. I also choose w910i because it's a walkman edition. So it's a mix between phone and music player. Good music player is included with great features. TrackID application, by which we can identify the name, artist and other characteristics of a song in seconds. The freaky extra sense "SenseMe" which automatically creates playlists based on your tagged songs. The one thing that I found very annoying is shake control. It allows you to skip between tracks without fiddling with the keypad, the catch here is that you would have to hold the Walkman key at the top when shaking it. It's very impractical. One more problem would be that it doesn't have a very loud speaker which is disappointing since its a walkman phone. Camera... 2.0 megapixel not much but capable of taking pictures at 1600×1200 resolution. There is no LED flash or auto-focus, the actual performance is above average but then again, the phone doesn't pretend to be brilliant in this area as it's primarily for music. I've experienced problems such as random freezing several times, but you can avoid this with software updates. One of the greatest thing is battery life. Very durable. I was so happy that I don't have to charge it every 1-2 days. Overall I highly recommend this phone to people who enjoy music and love to be entertained.
I do believe that this is a good phone. The internal memory is good, there is a good camera, the features of the phone are good and it is a very easy phone to use. It is quite stylish and it comes in a range of colours. It is in the Walkman range, therefore it is very good for music. There is only one bad point in my opinion which I feel lets this phone down which is the fact that it likes to turn itself off for no apparent reason. I have been informed by others who have the same phone that their's also do this. You can buy additional speakers for this phone which really help to enhance the sound. Overall, I feel that this is an excellent phone, and I would recommend it to first time phone users and also anyone who doesn't want a phone that is too complicated or difficult to use.
Not a particularly good phone in my opinion. Camera was poor, it froze alot and once again the red light showed at the back of the phone. Sound quality was good as it was the sony ericsson walkman range. only a 2 megapixel camera, but if your looking for a cheap phone, with half decent specs and apps then maybe go for this model. All the ability of the music system on the phone was good, with ability to create playlists, show album art, arrange your songs in your own order and also rate your songs from 1 to 5 stars. camera was poor as was any 2 meg camera at this time of release. standby time and call time was average. Having a 2nd camera on this device i see as pointless as the camera on it, was never used by myself anyway. for someone looking at getting a phone that is simple to use and at a good price then i would recommend this one, but as the market is where it is at at the moment then rivals such as samsung tocco lite, samsung genio are just leagues ahead. rate this phone at 6/10
I got this phone over a year ago as a christmas present on 3 network contract. An excellent phone!, got it in white and gold colour (think a limited edition colour) its got the very latest walkman player 3.0 that no other sony ericsson phone had back then, also had the best video capture of any sony walkman phone to that date (providing you were in good light though, as theres no flash... pity.. records in MP4 format rather than the low quality 3GP & plays back in full screen looks really smooth, standard camera for photos pretty good also. Some excellent features like sensme which automatically categorizes your songs depending on mood, speed, and beat etc and pin points them on a grid for you to select to play depending on your mood e.g: happy, sad etc. The only real trouble I had was with the shake music control because of the location of the walkman button which had to be held down whilst shaking, the the walkman button is on the very top of the phone and its TINY!! so that jus makes the shake feature abit annoying, but apart from that its a quality phone. The only problem I ever had was the way the phone occasionally crashes and needs to restart which I remember to be slightly frustrating..
A very reliable model. Not too fancy, not too basic just somewhere in the middle. One of them phones where you know you are getting your moneys worth. The SensMe feature is outstanding, it allows you to find the artist and song title of that song you have heard on the radio for months! The screen size as well is very good, normally on Sony Ericsson phones the screen is lacking as the pictures and other media you view on there do not look as good as the screen is smaller; however, on the W910i you need not worry as the screen is large making the viewing amazing! The only downside I would say for this phone is the slide function. Over time it wears away and what your left with at the end of around 18 months or so is a slide which is falling to pieces and not very nice as it will cost you a fair bit to get it fixed! All in all it is a great phone and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
This is the worst mobile phone I have ever owner and it is a real let down from Sony Ericsson, I have owned Sony Ericsson's before and not had a problem, this one was nothing but problem ! For the first couple of weeks this phone is fine, it is easy to use, simple to find your way around and being a walkman phone it also had brilliant speakers to play all of your favourite music for you. The phone also came with the flicker system meanning that simply by flicking your wrist you can change the song. But this is where the good points about this phone end. After owning the phone for a week and thinking it was great my phone then decided it was going to constantly turn itself off, whether I was in the middle or texting or just left in my pocket, it was simply turn off and then restart itself. I looked into this problem and found it was common with people sending there phone back and getting a replacement. So I sent my phone back and received a brand new replacement. This time the phone managed to last 2 weeks before I began it cycle of turning itselfs off and then back on again. Once again I looked this up and found that if the red light came on on the back on the phone it means that the phone had recieved and update and needed to restart. This was fine and I presumed this is what the problem was, more fool me. This was not the problem as the red light on the back of my phone never turned on to say it was an update. To this day Sony Ericsson cannot work out why the phone did this, they just send out new replacements everytime someone complained about there phone. So beware owners of newer phones you may also suffer from the same problem ! This is not the only problem with the phone because when it did work the phone decided it was going to suffer from chronic lag and then load what it wants to load, this can lead up to waiting 1 minute for a menu to load or simply writing a text and only half of it appearing because the phone has decided it doesnt want to load the other half. The phone didnt just do this every now and then, the phone never managed to be in use for more than 5 minutes before it was going to lag and decide to do something other than what you want it to. So all in all if you are lucky for a new Sony Ericsson, dont buy this one as its plagued with problems and Sony Ericsson will just send you out a new one with the same problems if you complain to them.
I was severly disappointed in this phone. I had this phone a total of three month before it decided to stop working on me completely. My third Sony Ericsson phone and the same problem as all the others. I got this phone and loved it, getting used to it was difficult given the changes from the W580i to this one but I loved it none the less. One month in the phone started crashing constantly and deleting occasional things. Two months in it started to shut down on itself and the buttons would choose when they wanted to work and when they didn't want to work. On the third month the screen kept changing. The pixels on the screen would enlarge and then go back down, the back light stopped working and then it would start working again. The it just stopped working completely. The phone would not turn on. Tried charging it and nothing came from it. While I did like the phone during the small amount of time which it did work fully I would not recommend it to others as many people I know have had many problems with the phone resetting itself a lot.
This phone is incredibly irritating. At least once a day it asks me if I want to update the software and at most I can put it off for a few hours, I can't seem to turn it off and so far in 6 months there have never been any updates to download! When I have a missed call, voicemail or sms, it just shows a small icon on the top left which is easy to miss, I don't know if it is the phone or my operator but it can take a few hours for even that notification to show up. In addition, it won't ever let me save someone to my phonebook the first time, when I try to save the data it says 'some info could not be copied', everytime! Then I go through the whole thing for a 2nd time and it saves it no problem. Also, the camera takes pretty bad quality photos and the phone is very slow. I definitely would not recommend this phone to anyone else.
