Bought Windows 8 because I fancied a change on my laptop and it was on offer: definitely wouldn't have bought it full price. Took a long time to put onto my computer, which is a Dell Inspiron 1545, and wasn't compatible with the mouse pad, which meant that I haven't been able to use all of the features. It is definitely visually stunning with lovely colours and lots of personalisation from the lock screen to the patterns on the start screen (some of which are a bit brash and I would prefer more subtle options as it feels like there's a lot going on). It is definitely Windows' bravest and most innovative piece of software. Obviously the features such as scrolling would be a bonus but since I don't have a touchscreen laptop and the mouse pad hasn't properly synced up, then I wouldn't be able to say how good that all is. If you're thinking of buying Windows 8 definitely look up your laptop on the internet to see if it is compatible with all of the features! One of the best things is the split screen feature for me, as a multi-tasker, since you can scroll between many screens with ease and have applications such as OneNote and iTunes side by side: very useful for working. Also, the shop feature enables you to download hundreds of apps such as ebay, 4od, games and to do lists: all of these have their own design specific to Windows 8 and makes browsing the internet much more interesting. I would say that it is hard to get used to and takes a while to test all of the features and get used to them, but all in all I would recommend it and don't agree with the bad reputation it seems to be getting.
