I brought one of these mice about 3 years back and liked it so much I brought another after 6 months to use with my laptop. This is an optical mouse that is made by microsoft and has 5 buttons and a scroll wheel. The mouse is a nice size and fits in the had well, its a symetrical design so can be used by either right or left handed people which is good as there is one of each in my house. The buttons are well layed out with the 2 main buttons being in the normal position along with the scroll wheel in the middle, the other 2 buttons are placed on the sides of the mouse and by default are set to work as the back and forward buttons in internet explorer. This is great once you are used to using them but proves to be a bit tricky to start with as they seem to get caught regularly and you find yourself pin-balling between webpages. After you have got past this though they become very natural and you can navigate between pages at pretty good speed, especially if you are like me and jump between google searches and results regularly. The scroll wheel has a nice soft clicky feel to it and seems to be really acurate at scrolling pages and documents. The optics feel acurate and the cursor never seems to do the jumpy thing you see sometimes on cheaper mice. The case hard wearing and even on the older, more used, mouse (and were talking about a lot of use) it seems to have very little wear. I would recommend the mouse to anyone, at just over £10 now they are a bargain.
The Microsoft Intelli mouse Optical 1.1 is a versatile tool for your PC. The mouse is by Microsoft so you know you have something which will work well on any surface and can easily navigate around your documents and websites. The mouse is optical which basically means it has no ball underneath and uses laser technology. This enables you to navigate easily and makes the cursor on screen accurate. Being optical it can be used with ease on any surface, were a ball would be difficult. Also there is hardly any cleaning required. I only need to clean around the mouse and scroll wheel once in a while which is easier than having a ball base which you have to open up regularly to clean as it gathers a lot of unwanted dust. The design of the mouse is very comfortable and is ergonomically designed for comfort. It fits neatly into the palm of your hand and the keys are conveniently placed. You can also use the mouse if your left or right handed, it doesn't matter. I'm right handed so I don't know if it works just as well left handed. What makes this mouse different to others is the sensitive scroll wheel which can be used to scroll down web pages and documents. It also has a quick access internet button on the side which can be used for going back and forth web pages. Main features: - Scroll wheel - 5 customisable buttons - Software and drivers included - Wired USB, PS/2 - 5 year warranty Overall this is a very reliable mouse and I haven't had any problems with it. I still use it sometimes if I need to with my laptop, as I have a wireless mouse and keyboard now. The Microsoft Intelli mouse Optical 1.1 costs around, £15-£20.
The optical technology developed by Microsoft reaches a new peak of performance - for both right- and left-handed users. What's more, IntelliMouse Optical delivers this performance along with outstanding flexibility and comfort.
The Microsoft optical sensor replaces your old-fashioned mouse ball. Capturing 6000 frames per second, it delivers up to four times the performance of other optical mouse products. Thos superior tracking speed translates into smooth, accurate cursor performance and it works on most surfaces. No mouse pad!
Designed by Microsoft ergonomics experts, the arched shape provides support in a natural, comfortable position. Simply roll the wheel to move around in documents and Web pages - no more clicking the on-screen scroll bar repeatedly. Accelerated scrolling reacts to how quickly you roll the wheel, allowing faster movement when you want it. Now you can do even more with your mouse. The two extra buttons let you go Back and Forward in your Internet browser without clicking the toolbar. The ambidextrous design is comfortable whether you operate the mouse with your left or right hand.
