Seeing as I am studying various media courses at university, I am constantly needing to have various digital resources with me at all times. Carrying my laptop or macbook around is an option but using a flash drive is a lot easier and more practical. I've been using various 2GB and 4GB usb drives for a while now, but due to recent demand for some of my design skills. I've needed to carry large amounts of photoshop .PSD files and dreamweaver website files. So I started looking... I was looking around on the web for a while. I wanted something that had a fairly big capacity space, but was reliable and wasn't going to break easy. But most importantly wasn't going to stretch my budget too far. This is when I came across the Kingston DataTraveler 101 with its massive 16GB storage space. I thought this must be expensive and I have used various Kingston products in the past so I knew It would be high quality. So I checked out the price. £30 on Amazon!! I was amazed and thought I would snap it up and ordered it. Packaging & Un-boxing: It only took a few days to arrive and was very well packaged. The box securely kept in a bubble lined packet to stop it from being damaged during transit. After removing the box I had high ambitions. The box was colourful and very professional. I opened up the box. The box its self was initially sealed to stop it from opening. After opening the box, I pulled out the contents. A white cardboard mould held the memory stick in place. The memory stick its self was wrapped in multiple layers of bubble wrap which I must admit was very reassuring and shows the detail Kingston has gone through to protect its products. The bubble wrapped usb drive was then tapped into place in the cardboard mould. Along with this cardboard mould, a simple leaflet/small booklet in multiple languages was included. This gave information about the device, company, help lines and warranty information. The Device: The usb stick its self is blue in colour with a grey/silver protective cover to protect the USB bus port. The device in my opinion has a modern sleek style which can appeal to all age groups and best of all it looks great with any colour/style of computer or laptop. The memory stick is very easy to carry around and is a perfect size for anyone to keep on their person to quickly and easily access their files. The dimensions for this product are W38.85mm X D16.40mm X H6.44mm so it can easily fit in your pocket, purse wallet; anywhere. Installation: Like most USB devices now a days this product features a simple 'plug and play' feature. However the way this product triumphs over the rest is by its incredible installation speed. Simply plug it in and within 2 - 5 seconds the drivers are installed and you're away and you can use the device; making it easy and pain free to install and use. This memory stick has an incredible read speed of up 10mb a second which is massive for a small device like this. I've loaded photos, videos, various Photoshop and Dreamweaver documents from this device and some files have even loaded faster from the memory stick rather than the computer itself. Despite the drive not being labelled with a average or up to write speed from the files I myself have been copying I have seen and recorded my average write speeds. With most files I have seen my average write (copy) speed to be around 8.7mb/s in some cases it has dropped briefly during the transfer to around 5/6 mb/s and in some other cases its topped over 10mb/s which is a massive and impressive write speed for a device as small as this. I myself hate having slow external devices. I want something that's going to be quick and reliable and this memory stick does exactly that! When I saw this memory stick for the price it was at for a Kingston product I had to quickly snap it up. I knew I would be receiving a high class product from them as I have used their data storage products in the past. No matter what your need or profession this drive can meet any of your storage needs. Whether you're a photographer or just taking a family holiday, a designer, writer, musician or video editor. This drive can handle all your needs, with no fuss. Its supper fast in writing and reading files, meaning there is no more long waits for your important files to get transferred. This device is also compatible with all gaming systems such as Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo WII. I've also recently purchased a second one of these memory sticks and now currently use it as a memory unit for my Xbox 360. To show the speed of this device all my saved games, videos and music run off it, quickly with no fuss. It's amazing. I'd highly recommend this memory stick to anyone looking for a quick and easy storage solution with lots of speed with unmatchable space. Perfect for anyone with any storage needs or profession.
We all have had that problem with our desktop pc's... Cables, cables and again... more cables! However we are now on the brink of a new age. The age of wireless, I for one hate seeing messy cables, and having to go round the back of a tower to change a piece of hardware or to plug a lead bag in is just such a daunting task... until now. I've just bought a brand new Logitech Wireless Keyboard (K320) which I bought offline for just under £27. Amazing value for money if you ask me. I bought this as a replacement for my brothers, how can I put it, ancient Packard bell keyboard. I wanted to reduce the amount of leads he could get tangled in so I decided to go wireless, however not being a big fan of wireless devices, I was sceptical. -Un-boxing Process- After swiftly arriving I was excited to get the keyboard unpacked and set up. When first opening the box, you can simply pull the keyboard out. The keyboard itself is wrapped in bubble wrap plastic to keep it dust free, and to avoid damage in transit. This is then secured in a white foam mould to stop the device from moving around in the box. Split into another section of the mould is a small square in which the wireless USB device is located. This again is securely wrapped in bubble wrap and tapped into place to avoid damage to this sensitive piece of equipment. Also included in the box are instruction manuals for set up offering a variety of different language options for more users. Also included in the manual is tips for cleaning, extra functions on the keyboard and how to access them and warranty information. -Set up- So I've finished un-boxing the keyboard, and to be honest it looks pretty sweet. A nice black finish to it with a shinny surface. (Please note I was setting this up on a Windows 7 machine) After starting up the pc I plugged in the wireless device... Because it uses a simple plug and play feature it's very easy to install without any input from you, the user. Then, within about 25 seconds the wireless receiver is installed and ready to use. This is an amazing feat I believe making this a quick and easier device to install and get up and running perfect for even the most beginner computer users. -The Device- The keyboard itself comes in a stylish, modern black colour and style. The keys are nicely spaced apart to allow for maximum finger flexibility and comfort when in use, but also allows users of any hand size to use the keyboard with ease. One drawback of this would be that dust particles or pieces of dirt might enter through these gaps however they are securely covered over so it would be hard to actually damage the device this way. But nothing a quick wipe with a drip cloth can't solve. The wireless end of the device gives a massive 2.4 GHz speed. So you will never be left waiting around when using the keyboard for the response to appear on your monitor. It also has a massive range of 10metres, more than enough for any user. But also good if you want to use the keyboard from another room to scare family members. (Good little trick I've done a few times.) It's completely Microsoft Windows XP, Vista and 7 compatible which makes this a broad and accessible choice for any pc users and being a plug and play device its perfect for any level of computer usage due to there being no installation necessary. Finally it is run on 3 AA Batteries, which might sound like a drag of having to change them every few hours. This is certainly not the case! I've been using this for the last few days and still!! Not had to change the batteries, however if you are worried about them failing you can always buy a little AA rechargeable set for under a tenner and simply keep changing them. -Manufacturer- Logitech offers a massive 3 years warranty to fix the keyboard if any damages ect happen to the device which I feel is a massive thing from them, however I know people who have used this device for long periods of time and never had an issue with it. But it's nice to know the care is there when we need it. -Final Opinions- To me this last keyboard was an excellent buy. Amazing value for money and would recommend this to anyone. Its got an amazing battery life and the sheer power and range of the wireless is brilliant. I personally can't fault it. It even works perfect through a concrete wall, so the power is very outstanding. The laptop has a black modern style so it can fit in with any desktop theme or desk layout. Its rather quite light weight so holding it in your lap isn't a problem. Overall I feel this is an amazing keyboard from Logitech. With the added ease of user functionality from adding spaces between keys and slightly dipping the tops of keys for better comfort they have truly done their customer research. I would recommend this to any home or office pc user or for any of use you may need a wireless keyboard for. However this laptop is mainly designed for office/school/home use as it doesn't have any of the added media functionality buttons however that is the only negative point I can say for this keyboard.
I've just recently finished building my newest custom personal computer for my video and web editing needs. I was having a look around for various power supplies and found a variety of different ones with a unsettling price range. However I then stumbled across the OCZ StealthXStream 2 PC Power supply and quickly snapped it up for £52. Un-boxing After swiftly receiving the box in the post I quickly opened it up to check the contents. Upon opening the box (Securely tapped up to avoid opening when in transit) the first thing that can be seen is some manufacture leaflets and advertisement flyers with some pretty decent offers. There is also an installation and help booklet, requirements booklet and warranty phone numbers. After removing the paper contents you can see a layer of a white foam mould. After removing this you can see the power supply safely wrapped up in a protective plastic bag/wrapping and bubble wrap. This is to ensure extra safety when the device is being moved around to avoid damage. It is then held in place by the white mould to avoid movement in the box and to lessen the chance of damage. After removing the power supply, underneath in a cut out section of the mould, you can find the adjoining cables and leads secured by a twist cable then securely wrapped in a protective bag and bubble wrap. The care taken into account to lower the chances of damage to the device is exceptional. Size/Compatibility After removing the packaging from the device you can see the power supply is of a standard size. It is measured at 15cm x 14 cm x 8.6cm which makes it easily compatible with most midsized computer cases. The localisation of the device has been made to United Kingdom, Europe. However US adapter versions are available from the company's main website. The device type is a active Power Factor Correction (PFC) - internal power supply with a specification compliance of ATX12V/ EPS12V. Power Information The device uses a UK/EU Mains adapter to power the device. It requires a input voltage of AC 115/230 V to power the device with a input voltage range of AC 130 - 240 V meaning it has a rather average power consumption level. Power Output Connector details: 1 x power 24 pin ATX with detachable 4 pin section 3 x 15 pin Serial ATA power 1 x 6 pin PCI Express power 1 x 8 pin PCI Express power with detachable 2 pin section 1 x power 8 pin EPS12V with detachable 4 pin ATX12V section 5 x 4 PIN internal power 1 x 4 PIN mini-power connector Finally the device has a massive power capacity of 600 Watts and in case of fault or power outages it has a circuit protection feature which uses a circuit breaker to protect the device from damage. Other Aspects of the device: One main thing I have found very attractive about this device is the huge 100,000 MTBF (mean time between failures) so this device has a massive lifespan and provides a good reassurance of reliability. I've been using it for around 3 weeks and have yet to have any issues with the device. The power supply is cooled by a 120mm Fan. With most power devices the fan can become an annoying factor with any form of computing with emitting a terrible whirling sound. However the name of this product 'StealthXStream' fits the devices perfectly. It makes NO sound what so ever. At first start you can hear the fan revving up for around 7 - 15 seconds however after that period the device becomes unnoticeable. Without creating any noise pollution. Even at times when I have had the computer on for long periods of time the noise pollution has been practically nonexistent. Warranty: The device comes with a full 3 years warranty with service and support which gives you and even more sense of security of dealing with problems with the device so they can be quickly dealt with. Evaluation: I've been using this power supply for just over 3 weeks. I feel it's amazing. I have also made plans to update the power supplies of the other PC's in my household. The minimal noise pollution it emits and large output of power it can generate is completely worth the minimal £52 price tag. I'd highly recommend this product to anyone who is building their own custom PC or wants to replace their current power supply.
I purchased the Panasonic RP-HJE270EBV headphones for use with my iPod touch around 2 months ago from amazon.co.uk for £11.30 with free postage and packaging. I was immediately drawn to the sleek and stylish design and bright coloured design of these headphones. The headphones come securely in a plastic packaging to hold the headphones in place and in to keep them from being damaged. Also the headphone wire its self is tied with a small plastic band to keep the wire wrapped up nice to get it from damage and also easier to manage and keep a hold of. Also included in the packaging is a flyer including the warranty numbers and other various numbers for Panasonic customer support and also some other various bits of information in a variety of different languages to open the headphone use up to more people. After eventually getting into the plastic box, which i had to cut open with scissors i removed the headphones. They have a angled plastic design on the end of each wire along with a rubber angled piece that fits softly in your ear and comfortably. The colour of these headphones was a dark purple. Making this a brilliant fashion accessory and can be worn by both men and women. The headphones use a 3.5mm connection, which is supported by many mobile and mp3 devices so you can use these across a variety of different devices. The sound quality on these headphones can't be knocked. As with many Panasonic products these do have a price; however they aren't put knocked down in quality or style. These provide a lovely crystal clear sound that restricts damage to your ear, making these an excellent set of headphones to have and can make even some of your more musical dislikes sound a lot better. These are an amazing pair of headphones however; at times they can easily fallout of your ear. They can also begin to hurt on the inside of your ear after long periods of use without breaks. But this can come from any headphones of this style. For the price of £11 these headphones are amazing value for money and can't be knocked for quality. I highly recommend these. I've been using these for around 2 months now and they still haven't broke or had any problems so these are very reliable. 5/5
After letting my HP pavilion laptop go to family use now, I decided to use my rainy day money to get a new laptop. I wanted something with style and a modern design but also no dropping performance for style. This is when i came across one of Samsung's new laptops; the Samsung SF311. I was instantly attracted and drawn to its sleek curved design and glossy white finish. After purchasing it for £485 I was eager to get home and set it up. -Un boxing- After removing the seal tags on around the box i opened it up. Inside the first thing you can see is all the manuals and guides included with the box. These include, installation and set up manual, help guide, accessory brochures, manufacturer recommend system configuration and warranty information. After removing these booklets you can see the white foam casing, which is held together by 4 seals which can easily be broken off. After removing this foam lid, you can see the laptop is in a plastic bag, to protect it from dust, scratches and contamination. The power adaptor also being securely wrapped in a plastic bag and secured in the foam mould. Finally after taking the laptop its self and placing it on the desk, i opened the lid and there is a Samsung screen protector laid on top of the keyboard to protect the screen from dust and scratches. The laptop its self is fairly standard size, measuring at 33.1cm x 23.6cm x 3.3cm. It's also very lightweight to touch and to carry, weighing in at only 2.1KG its extremely lightweight and shouldn't be a strain to carry around. The main colour scheme of the laptop is white/grey/black. With curved edges on the sides of the laptop and lid, making this a very modern and stylish model. -First Start up- The laptop came pre installed with Microsoft, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Edition. It sped up very quickly and windows was up and running with in around 20 seconds making this a very quick boot. The laptops speed is very powerful. Packing a whopping 4GB RAM made up a duel DDR3 SDRAM 2GB soldered together. Combined with the amazing 320GB SATA-300 Hard drive which has a 5400 rpm speed; it's no wonder this laptop is very quick off its feet, right out of the box. Finally it comes with a Intel Core i5 2410M / 2.3GHz (Dual-Core) processer to give it the even bigger push to being a leading competitor in speed and endurance. -Audio- The laptop uses built in Stereo speakers to emit sound from the laptop along with 2 3.55mm headphone jacks for headphone or external speaker output. These are then powered by an internal soundcard. The speakers emit a very loud sound without the reduced sound quality so you won't find yourself struggling to hear any music or sounds played on the laptop like with other stereo speakers you might have come across. -Display- Samsung have always taken exceptional care when it comes to their displays. Mainly on their TV's however i sense that this care has been used on the SF31. It has a crystal clear image display, perfect for high detailed graphics when gaming or video and image viewing. The laptop boasts a 13.3" LED Backlight TFT 1366 x 768 resolution display. This impressive display is powered by a NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 graphics controller, and as with all NVIDIA graphics products they cannot be flawed for their impressive graphics output. -Networking- I've used this laptop on the internet using a Ethernet, Fast Ethernet connection however this laptop can use up to a Gigabit Ethernet connection for faster speeds. I've also used it using a wireless connection with the built in Wireless LAN aerial and still had top speeds coming from that. The laptop comes set up to use the following wireless configurations IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11b and IEE 802.11n. It also has a built in Bluetooth aerial with a Bluetooth 3.0 HS adapter. The laptop also comes pre set up with Bluetooth file transfer wizard to enable fast, easy and simple Bluetooth transfers between your Bluetooth device and the laptop. -Input device- The laptop has a built in QWERTY keyboard, which also uses the "FN" feature to allow for more features to be used on the laptop. It also has an amazing soft to touch touchpad to use to operate the on screen mouse. In my opinion this has to be the softest touch pad i have ever used, your finger can literally glide across it without the mouse speeding around the screen, however the touch pad settings can easily be changed in the Windows control panel. It also has a right and left click buttons which don't stick down in their sockets and aren't over sensitive. The input features on this laptop have been really well looked at and tested to ensure that it's exceptionally user friendly. Finally the laptop has an integrated 1.3 Megapixel web cam installed. The camera is located in the above the screen in around the centre of the lid for use with instant messaging and other web cam uses. -Software, pre installed- The laptop comes pre installed with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Edition. But also comes with a variety of different other pieces of software packaged along with it. Please note I'm not sure if this is a standard add on package or just offered with selected vendors. This laptop comes with a Samsung media suite offering some simple music media playing software and video playing software. It also comes with a 60 - day trial of Microsoft Office 2007 and a Norton internet security 4.0 30 day trial. -Overall- This laptop in my opinion is amazing and exceeds the £485 price tag that it has and is worth so much more. I can't believe how user friendly and comfortable the laptop is to use. Its elegant and stylish design and colour is just amazing and breathe taking in my opinion. The powerful internal hardware of 4GB RAM and the massive 320GB hard drive is more than enough for any of your computing needs and with its NVIDIA graphics controller this laptop can handle anything you through at it in terms of visuals and performance. 5/5
Looking for a stylish summer appeal for your memory stick and storage needs. Integral's USB 2.0 Lime Green Splash Drive 2GB is perfect for the job. Boasting its "lime green" enclosure colour and simplistic but stylish design this memory unit is a must have for anyone wanting to show their calm but colourful and happy personality through the flash drive they use. I bought this drive down at my local computer store for only £4.99 making it a cheap but very durable and handy drive to have around. Plus with its size being only 11mm x 19mm x 62mm its small and will easily fit into your pocket or can be attached to your key ring so you're always ready for your data storage needs. When un packaging the drive, you have to open up a plastic casing to access the drive. It's secured in this packaging to avoid from damage moving around and storage. Also included in the packaging is manufacturer's installation and recommended system configuration information to run the drive and also warranty information. This new integral drive uses a high speed USB connection (USB 2.0) to offer faster transfer speeds to make file coping and moving allot quicker and easier. On average you get around 3MB/s to 8MB/s transfer speed; which for £4.99 is a tremendous transfer speed. The drive is automatically installed, using a simple plug and play feature which installs the drivers for the memory stick within seconds of first connecting it to your USB port. Making this a no fuss installation and ready to use out of the box so to speak. This also means it can be easily connected and disconnected with no fuss or problems for the user. I personally love this drive, and as i have said before, Integral products can't be knocked for speed and quality. This drive was no exception. I've added it to my key chain and friends of mine have done the same with this drive and other colour variations and they are a brilliant accessory as well as an amazing data storage device. I highly recommend this product to teens, students alike.
I've had loads of memory sticks and flash drives in my time. But one that has never failed me is my Integral products. They have always been fantastic, no matter what size i have ever got. The Integral Splash 1GB is of no difference. I purchased this at my local computer store around 3 months ago for £4.99. I needed just a quick and easy memory stick that I could lend to others and transfer files for use to show on my xbox360 and just to show as a slideshow on a TV. When un packing the Integral splash, you can see its safely stored in a plastic packaging to keep it safe from being knocked around or any damage being made to the device its self through general movement and bringing it home. There is also, manuals for installation and help manuals with warranty numbers and other information. The Integral Splash uses a simple plug and play feature to install its self and to use. Simply plug it in and within seconds it will have installed its self and is ready to use, straight out of the packet. It also comes with a protective rubber lid attached to a chain on the bottom of the drive. The memory stick comes in a variety of different colours including black, blue, yellow, red, green and pink. So there is a big choice of colours to fit anyone's personality or mood. Seeing as the memory stick is quite small measuring at only 11mm x 19mm x 62mm it can easily fit in your pocket for easy carrying or attach to your key ring with the attached chain at the bottom of the drive. I've transferred various file sizes onto this drive, including video files, mp3 files and JPEG's. The memory stick like all Integral products have 'High speed USB' connections. This drive is no different, using a USB 2.0 connection its very high speed, giving me average transfer rates of 3MB/s to 8MB/s using windows vista, which makes this very fast to use. I've tested this memory stick on 7 and Windows XP Home and it works fine, however i didn't write down the transfer speeds. However they can't be much difference in the speeds on Windows Vista. Overall I personally love Integral products! I've been using this since purchased and it STILL hasn't had any issues such as lower transfer rates, file corruption and data loss. This a simple no fuss no worry memory stick, that is easily carried around to pull quickly transfer your files and put it away again. Perfect for students and kids in school for their homework and coursework. I highly recommend this memory stick and it's defiantly worth fiver price tag.

I've been needing a new TV in my bedroom around my dad's for a while now, and finally decided to go out and get one as a Christmas present (yes I know it's early) but my current one kind of broke on me. We decided, after looking around for a while to get the 22" 5 Series, Samsung UE22D5000 LED Backlit LCD TV for £229.99. I've dealt with and used Samsung TV's before so i was expecting high hopes from this model and for it to not let me down. -Un-Boxing- After finally getting it home, we laid out the box on the floor and opened it up. The TV and all the cables were nicely secured in plastic wrapping to help protect from dust, scratches and other forms of damage. The screen is held in place via a white foam mould to stop the TV from moving around and becoming damaged during movement and storage. The leads including AV cables and power cable were securely tied in a plastic cable to stop them from bending and becoming damaged. Unfortunately there was no HDMI Cable supplied however these can be bought easily along with the TV. The remote control is also protected in a plastic bag, lined with bubble wrap in its own section of the foam mould to also avoid it from moving freely in the box. Also included in the box is set up instructions to give you the best picture and sound quality, general set up and installation of the TV, warranty information and phone numbers booklet, accessories booklet and general TV set up manual. Finally the TV screen its self is lined with bubble wrap just to give it that extra padding and protection. -Set up- After un boxing the TV and placing it on my side you can instantly see its sleek dark grey/black enclosure design and clean crisp screen. The size of the of TV measures at 52.2cm x 37.7cm x 14.5cm with the stand making it 22" in a diagonal size and being rather slimming. When setting up the TV i plugged in the power supply first., which simply plugs into the back of the TV and is hid out of the way of sight from a front view of the TV so no ugly power cable is seen. The TV uses a AC 230V (50/60Hz) adaptor. The power consumption of the TV in standby/sleep has been measured at approximately 0.3 Watts. After this i plugged in the included SCART adaptor with minimal fuss and it just easily fitted in at the back of the TV. After connecting the cables i turned the TV on. Using the remote control i navigated through the detailed settings menu of the TV. Depending on your TV viewing method there is different settings for what you may have, however the settings does have a built in digital TV tuner, DVB-C, DVB-T. This also comes with Teletex and an electronic programme guide. After browsing quickly through the settings (I recommend reading the manual if you don't fully understand setting up a TV for your best viewing performance). There are many options for languages, standby times, auto turn off and power saver options, parental locks, picture in picture set up, contrast, brightness and saturation settings plus many many more options. -Display Information- The diagonal size of the screen is 22" widescreen with a TFT active matrix. It boasts a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution and a 1080p (Full HD Ready) display format. Because this is a LCD TV it incorporates LCD backlight technology using a LED backlight. Finally it also has a variety of different display modes for various viewing modes, these include: On/off timer, Anynet Plus, Game Mode, HyperReal Engine, ConnectShare Movie, wide colour Enhancer Plus, Digital noise filter, Eco flower. -Audio Information- The output mode for sound on this TV is stereo with the option of surround sound mode and a variety of digital audio formats including: DTS digital output, Dolby Digital plus output, Dolby pulse output. It has a 2 speaker system set up with SRS Theatre sound HD sound effects. The speaker system consists of 2 x right/left channel speakers - built in - 3 Watt. This gives a total power consumption of 6 watts. Finally there are a range of features, including Down-firing speaker and auto volume leveller (AVL). At first i was using the stereo speakers built into either side. My room size is aprox 7m x 5m and when only the sound is not even half way it provides and exceptional sound quality about as crystal clear as this picture its self. It has a simple lower and increase volume button on the TV and remote control, to change the volume. -Connections- Located on the back of the TV is the connections hub which boasts a massive variety of different connection types to allow you to set up your perfect system with use on this TV. The connections included on the TV are: - 2 x HDMI ( 19 pin HDMI Type A ) - 1 x USB 2.0 ( 4 PIN USB Type A ) - 1 x composite video / component video input ( RCA phono x 3 ) - 1 x audio line-in ( RCA phono x 2 ) - 1 x VGA input ( 15 PIN HD D-Sub (HD-15) ) - 1 x audio line-in ( mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm ) - 1 x digital audio output (optical) ( TOS Link ) - 1 x headphones ( mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm ) - 1 x SCART ( 21 PIN SCART ) - Slot provided: 1 x Common interface plus (CI+) Slot -Final Overview and opinion- If you're looking for a sleek and stylish LCD TV that supports a variety of viewing modes including for gaming HD movies and Blue-ray movie viewing along with exception sound quality and clear crisp picture quality then this is the TV for you. At only £229.99 this TV is exceptional Value for money and can't be beaten for its viewing and sound quality and its connection types. Boasting a massive selection of different connection types you will be able to create the most powerful system and adapt to your own viewing needs easily with this product. Using the connection hub located at the back of the TV and the powerful settings menu built into the TV. I have never been able to get closer to the films and TV i watch before this new Samsung Television. I can't believe how crisp and clear the picture is before any set up has been even run or any settings changed. So even if your a novice to setting up a TV system you already have an out of the box outstanding picture quality. I highly recommend this TV for your home viewing. However if you want this for a home cinema i recommend getting a bigger size a 32" model of this TV costs around £100 - £120 more depending on where you buy. Highly recommended!!
Today I was brought a new netbook from a friend of mine, who wanted me to give it some quick tests and generally put some software on it and just generally set it up and prepare it for computing. I've always been in two minds when it comes to netbooks. On one hand i feel they are a very handy to have around. Their lightweight small and easy to carry, a huge space saver and they don't have the nasty overheating problem with laptops and the annoying spinning sound of a fan. However the other side they are too small to use in some cases, screen can be too small, there is NO internal DVD/CD - ROM drive, can be hard to install software onto. -Size - With the Acer Aspire One Happy-2DQuu i was in both these mind sets at a first glance. At first you can see the netbook is rather small sized; measuring at only 25.9cm x 18.5cm x 2.4cm. So for people used to fully sized laptop or desktop computer keyboards and screens the switch may be difficult to adjust to. When picking up the One Happy you can tell its lightweight; weighing in at only 1.25kg. -Memory (Storage, RAM, Cache) & Processor- For a netbook i was surprised at the size of the internal hard drive storage space. With the One Happy packing a 250GB internal HDD you will be pushed for finding files to fill up this hard drive. The downside to its memory uses however is the 1GB DDR2 SDRAM pre installed RAM, with up to 2GB max to be installed. Seeing as this laptop comes pre installed with Windows 7 Starter, 1GB RAM won't stretch far after software has been installed on the system. It also comes pre installed with a 512KB - L2 Cache memory storage. Finally the netbook comes with a Intel Atom N450/1,66 GHz processor to keep your computing running swiftly and without crashes. -Display- The notebook comes with a smaller screen size than what is found on traditional laptops and desktop monitors. It has a 10.1" LED Backlight CineCrystal TFT 1024 x 600 Resolution (WSVGA). The graphics on this notebook are powered by a Intel GMA 3150 Dynamic video memory technology 4.0 graphics controller. -Audio- Audio on this notebook is controlled internally by a sound card and then played through built in stereo speakers on the notebook. There is also one headphone 3.5mm jack input for headphones or linking to an external speaker source. There is also a 3.5mm jack input port for a microphone or other recording equipment. -Networking- Thank fully and a feature i was impressed with is the built in wireless LAN aerial, allowing for instant wireless connection, without the need of having to fiddle around with USB adapters and software. The wireless adapter information and networking configuration is IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g and IEEE 802.11n using the Acer Invilink Nplify wireless NIC There is also an Ethernet, Fast Ethernet port to allow for wired computing on the internet. -input devices- Firstly the netbook does support input devices using an optical or wireless USB connection to allow for external mouse's and keyboards and other input devices to be used with the netbook. There is also a integrated QWERTY keyboard and touchpad with left and right click buttons. Finally for social networking and instant messaging there is a integrated 1.3 megapixel web camera built into the top of the screen display. -Power- The netbook is powered by a AC 120/230 V (50/60 Hz) AC Adapter. This then powers and charges the 6-cell Lithium Ion battery. This battery gives aprox 8 Hours run time. -Disadvantages Overall- Overall the main bad points i feel there are with the One Happy, that stops you from being 'Happy' is the fact there is no CD/DVD - ROM drive so installing software from a CD can be a pain. The screen can also at times be rather annoying due to it being so small. Finally the keyboard its self and touch pad are rather small can be hard to use if you have big hands. -Overall- I feel this is a great netbook if you aren't planning on using it for heaving software usage. This is perfect for school work and taking to course classes to quickly type up notes and other information. Basic word procession and document making are really what these are made for and surfing the web. A definite must have for any students needing a quick and easy tool for essays and note taking and other word processing needs.
Back in one of the old offices i used to work in, we used to use the Kensington Slimtype Keyboard. After un boxing one of these keyboards from the box you can see its safely stored in a plastic bag which is secured in a white foam mould to protect it from moving freely in the box to avoid damage. The keyboard uses a simple plug and play feature, so you need simply use the wired USB connection from the keyboard and plug it into a free port on your laptop or desktop pc. Not only using the common QWERTY keyboard layout the keyboard has a variety of other functions such as a sleep button, internet browsing, multimedia, mute button and volume control. While using the keyboard, you instantly notice the fairly average sized keys which have a slightly rough feel to them, which at first are a little stiff but through simple wear and tear they soon loosen up. The other first impression is the black coloured style and sleek modern slim line design that makes this a perfect office keyboard or home keyboard and suits any environment. I had used the same keyboard for around 2 - 3 months, and still didn't have any problems with it. However the special added function buttons did become a little bit harder to use, as during use they have became a little bit stuck during use and can sometimes tend to get a little stuck, and need to be pressed a few more times in order to loosen them back up again. Which can be a bit of a problem during use. In my opinion i feel this is a good all round keyboard, perfect for an office environment or a home computer and is perfect for general every day computing. I had a look around for the price of these and they retail at around the £17.00 - £20.00 mark. I will say this keyboard will need to replaced maybe after a few months of use but still a good, back up keyboard or for use for basic computing.
Being a media, film and IT student and a regular computer nerd shall we say i know the importance of backing up files, but also how annoying it is to send large files over the internet via email. Well am glad to say thank you that we have Flash Drives and memory sticks. Now if you have ever gone to buy one before there is an endless amount of different styles, colours, sizes and manufacturers. I myself have had experience with many different memory sticks and used them for a variety of different uses. I needed a new memory stick, of quite a large decent size to store video files and audio files for my courses. As well as other various documents such as doc files and powerpoint files. I went down to my local computer base store, and had a look around to see what they had. I noticed the Sandisk Cruzer Slice 8GB. I was immediately attracted to the sleek, modern design of the memory stick and then even more by the 8GB size and finally the £13.00 price tag. I snapped it up straight away, after using other Sandisk storage devices before so i had high hopes for this device. The drive comes in a plastic protection packaging to avoid it from any damage. Also included in the box is the manufacturers recommended system configuration for use with the flash drive. I've been using this for around 4 months now, transferring various video files and audio files and also backing up my course paperwork on it. I've tested this drive on Windows server 2000, Windows XP Home, Vista and 7 and i have no problems. Also even with the huge amount of data transfers i have still not experienced any problems with it. A few times the drive has been unexpectedly pulled out or not disconnected properly and i have also kept this in my pocket on hot days, and when I've been messing around with friends and there has still be no data loss or corruption. Which is amazing!! Finally the drive is as advertised 8GB in storage space, with a high speed USB 2.0 connection for fast transfer rates, I've been getting around 512Kb/s transfer rate. It also uses a simple plug & play feature so within seconds of inserting the drive into your USB port this drive will have installed its self, so there is no fuss or extra software needed for you to install. For the price of £13.00 i feel this is an amazing price and brilliant value for money. The 8GB size is perfect for students or just for people who want to back up their most important data. The drive is very durable and long lasting and boasts a sleek design and unisex black coloured enclosure. Making this a good memory stick for any gender or age. I highly recommend this drive to anyone looking for a memory stick to use to back up their most important files and documents. With a sleek modern design, and unisex appeal this is perfect for all ages and genders and with a £13.00 price tag, you cant help but snap one of these drives up.
After recently building a new home pc i decided to use a different manufacturer for my RAM memory. I had a look around online and came across the 'Crucial Ballistix 4 GB DDR3 2000Hz (x2) for a total of 8gb of RAM for only £98.88! I couldn't help myself but to give them a try. After arriving a few days later i unboxed them. Both being securely wrapped in a plastic bag lined with bubble wrap; then securely held in place by a white foam mould to stop them from being damaged in transit. They also came with a help guide, warranty numbers and information and also a minimum and recommend system and hard ware requirements documentation. There was also a driver installation CD for use depending on your system configuration. I performed a test with this using Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium. The system took to the new hardware and booted up speedy and faster than i thought (On a fresh installation). I installed several Adobe software licences including "Photoshop CS5 extended edition, Dreamweaver CS4 and director." I also tried out installing "Pinnacle studio ultimate 15 and Sony Vegas 10" as these also take up large amounts of memory to run. The system its self was using a 500gb HDD so storage space wasn't an issue. I managed to run all 3 of those adobe products without fuss, and this included using the software, browsing for files, saving files and using other various system tools such as iTunes and Norton 360 insight scan. Which again take up system resources. I decided to try and push the system to its limits and push the ram to see how far it would stretch. I managed to have World of Warcraft running, command and conquer, iTunes and photoshop running and still no crashes!! I was amazed at how much this Ballistix could take. My computer is one of the fastest i have used and is a no wait no fuss computer at the moment in my opinion. The technology behind it is DDR3 SDRAM using a form factor of DIMM 240-pin, The maximum memory being 2 x 4gb giving a 8gb total RAM Size running at a memory speed of 2000Hz (PC3-16000). I still haven't had any issues with the computer since the ram has been installed, i've had 2 friends that have used it with 2 separate major motherboards different to mine and they have no trouble, so all major mother boards will be compatible with this product. If you want a RAM drive that's going to majorly speed up your computer and give it truly 'Ballistix' speed and endurance then i highly recommend this product. Its a must have if your building your own system or merely just upgrading to a bigger RAM size. This is a must HAVE. However i will say, only get this if you are going to be pushing your computer to the limits e.g. for gamers, video editors developers, photo editors ect.
I know laptops have built in keyboards however, i love using an external keyboard with a laptop and with dual monitors it's so much easier to use an external keyboard. However i decided to go out and purchase a new keyboard rather than using my pc's keyboard. I had a look around and didn't want anything to expensive. I had a look around a few stores and found the Logitech Desktop MK120 keyboard and optical mouse for £17.99. I've never really had any experience with Logitech products except a webcam a few years ago so i didn't know what to expect. Upon un boxing the keyboard you see its been securely wrapped in a protective plastic wrapping to free it of dust and to protect the keys. This is then placed in a white foam mould to secure the keyboard from moving in the box and getting damaged during moving the box around. However i was surprised to not see the keyboard in bubble wrap. The keyboard its self is black with white lettering and symbols. The keys are of a good size making this keyboard a perfect fit for adults and children. The localisation of this keyboard is English/United Kingdom. Both the mouse and keyboard are connected by USB 2.0. When using both of these i found it a bit hard to get used to the keys, however as they are new they were a bit sticky and soon got worn in after around hour or so. The mouse is fairly straight forward however again the buttons do stick a little but soon become loosened through use. The mouse also is highly responsive and by using the laser positioned at the bottom of the mouse, it picks up all movement so your not having to mess around to get it to work. I have also found the mouse works on wood, plastic and tile surfaces but also on a mouse mat (which is recommended to avoid damage to the laser/light). The keyboard has a comfortable fight however can be a little rough on the palms of your hand after a while and this can cause discomfort to the user. But nothing a simple keyboard pad can't solve. Both keyboard and mouse are compatible and have been tested by my self on Windows XP, Vista, 7 and Linux distributions. In my opinion for £17.99 this keyboard and mouse combination is a steal. They both are amazingly reliable and boast a sleek and stylish appeal. By using a simple plug and play feature you can be up and running in no time using either one or both of them. So no additional software is needed to use them.
Just recently decided that i needed a new upgrade on one of my study office monitors, and using the same model in the office at work as well, i decided to give the HP Compaq LA2306x 23" Widescreen monitor. At only £158 i thought this was a bargain and snapped it up. When first unpacking the box, you notice the care that has been used when securing the monitor inside the box its self. The monitor is covered in a protective plastic wrapping with padded bubble wrap. This is then secured in a white foam mould to stop the monitor from moving and becoming damage during storage and movement. Finally the leads were also packaged in plastic bags, and secured in their own part of the mould. There was also the manuals and warranty information stored in the box as well. After the initial un boxing of the monitor you can see its sleek, modern black design. You can also see it's a 23" Widescreen LCD display monitor measures 55.2cm x 24.9cm x 35.1cm (With stand). It also has a variety of adjustments such as 'Height adjustment, pivot (rotation), swivel and tilt." After setting up the monitor you can feel it's fairly light weighing in at only 6.8kg. The monitor its self is powered by a AC 120/230 V (50/60 Hz) which plugs straight into your UK plug socket. Which makes this monitors localisation English/United Kingdom. The monitor takes up approximately 33 Watts of energy which makes this a green monitor, which comes with a ENERGY star qualified sticker and EPEAT Gold. The monitor connects using a DVI-D, VGA Display port. Which makes it a very easy to connect using a plug and play method, which makes it simple to use. This powerful connection gives a image contrast ratio 1000:1/1000000:1 (dynamic). The monitor has an amazing response time of 5 ms making it very quick. It also has a powerful colour display with a WLED backlight and TFT Active matrix. For the £158 price tag, the image quality was over whelming. Finally the image brightness is around the 250 cd/m2. Even though this monitor is said to be compatible with windows 7, i've tested it on Windows Vista and Windows XP Home and i have had no problems. For the £158 price tag on this monitor i can't believe the superb image quality that the monitor boasts which can be adjusted and fined tuned for your liking with the settings buttons located on the front of the monitor. Finally it also as a side USB hub port to allow for another usb port at your disposal. Overall i recommend this monitor to anyone wanting high amazing image display for a low price and gives off a stylish sleek design!!
