I desperately needed a new laptop after the meltdown of my old pc and ordered this from Amazon for a pretty much budget price of £320 and which came early morning two days later. The laptop runs on windows seven and comes preloaded with office, windows messenger. *Opening up* The laptop came in a thin box, it was really easy to assemble the charger, put the battery in the laptop plug in and get going, I just needed to set up my user account, turn my wi-fi on and I was all ready to go. The laptop also takes very little time to load up and log on! *The Look and feel* The laptop is really light and easy to pick up and carry around with you, its not the best looking thing and is quite a dull colour, the bumpy cover makes it feel quite nasty at times. The laptop has an "ice cool" sticker on it, meaning that the fan works heard keeping the laptop from over-heating and all those nights of moving a boiling hot laptop off your knee and your fingers getting burnt are taken away, the laptop also has no extra noise because of this and you never hear that annoying loading up sound! *Features* I turned on to find some pre-loaded game demo's which were pretty cool but ran kind of slow, I would not recommend this for any gamer as my version of the sims 3 ran very very slow and was very unresponsive, The other discovery was a face recognition log-in, this is kind of nifty but I had a number of problems as it doesn't actually keep anyone out of your account, but provides a fun way to log in, but it takes such a long time the novelty wears off and you get bored of it fairly quickly, the laptop has a dvd/blu-ray player and a bluetooth function and my favourite thing so far is the palm proof touch-pad stops any accidental clicks and quitting important things. The built in webcam is very good quality and is really responsive to movements. *Four different "Gears"* So you pick your function of work, the Power4Gear hybrid gives you four options on how you would like to use your laptop. There's a high performance which I find best for surfing the web and watching videos online and loading up web-pages takes milliseconds, There's the entertainment, which is best used for watching your dvds, as it preserves some battery while still providing great quality viewing, the quiet office for when you need minimal distractions to finish your work and the battery saving gear, these all sound great but in all honesty there isn't much difference between the four apart from the obvious change in the brightness settings and the internet is slightly faster on high performance. *The asus-vibe* The asus vibe is this laptops answer for the app stores, I have never really seen these on any laptops before, the vibe lets you download music, apps, games and books and audiobooks either for free or some you have to buy, It also provides you a quick access to most radio stations and all it needs is a quick registration. *Overall* Sometimes Its a bit slow, but windows and asus together have made a fairly great budget laptop with a lot of features, it can take a lot of getting used to but when you do, its great fun and a really great laptop!
When moving into my flat, I wanted a smaller vaccum cleaner that didn't take up much space so I picked one of these up *Size* Okay, Its a lot shorter than a normal cleaner but I was disappointed with the space it did take up, the add on normally comes off when you pack it up and does take up a lot of room on its own, so I don't think it was the best small vaccum out there. *Price* This normally retails from around 270-290 pounds, which is a lot but I did get drawn in by the dyson brand and there certainly is a few other reasons why it is better than cheaper vaccum cleaners! *Suction and functions* The added suction compared to others is the best, because it picks stuff up first time and picks up a lot more than what my old one used to miss, because of this it cuts down the time you hoover by about ten minutes. The bottom moves around the floor really easily and can bend to get into all the corners of the room and the dyson is so light it moves around easy with you, the downsize is that the suction hose falls off a hell of a lot and the plug lead isn't long enough! The thing is wonderful for my tiled floors, but because of the missing carpet brush, the carpet in my bedroom takes a lot longer to hoover up! *Added* The dyson comes with a button that sucks the plug back up, shame its so temperamental and only works about 25% of the time! *Emptying* The emptying does take a while and can get messy, the click thing takes a while to work and come off and the bagless normally means that it can get everywhere if your not careful, the tub of dust is very big too and can be hard to actually get in the bin! *Overall* I would rate it four out of five for a tiny flat like mine it does do wonders, but for a bigger house with a lot of carpet you would defiantly need something else!
I'm not the biggest fan of blusher as I always appear to apply way too much of it so I swapped it for these tints instead, The benefit one I usually buy retails at twelve to fifteen pounds and was beginning to get too much so I seeked out a replacement! *Packaging* The bottle is a small nail polish bottle, it can be easy to mix up in a big make up bag but the brush is what makes it easy to apply, the bottle retails for 1.98 for 10ml which is a complete bargain and is in the light pink bottle with white cap pictured above! *Application* For lips you're meant to dot on the tint and blend, but seeing as I don't like this colour on my lips I don't use it there, for my cheeks, I simply brush two lines on each cheek and blend it in and its so easy I can do it without a mirror for touch-ups on the go! for a short while after your face can feel a bit sticky, but this doesn't last long, there is also a slight rubbery smell but that soon disappears too so It isn't a problem! *Results* You end up with a nice natural looking pinky glow! its nowhere near as heavy as blusher and looks very natural even on top of a lot of make up, for all these reasons I think its time a lot of people ditched the blushers for tints and this tint is an amazing bargain!
Like most people, I love chocolate and my favorites are just milk chocolate like cadburys and galaxy etc, but because of the price rising I wanted to look for a cheaper chocolate fix! *Price* For 30p you can't go wrong, or the way I look at it three for a pound and change! *Packaging* Since the everyday value re-brand, the chocolate has better packaging, the old foil and white wrap has gone and it has a proper plastic wrapper! *Size* Okay, they're nowhere near as thick as other chocolate brands, the chocolate is really thin and have a kind of crunch to them, you get around 24 of these small chunks in a bar, Overall they are about the same size of the old king size bars of galaxy you used to be able to buy, so they are good value! *Taste* At first I didn't think I liked the taste, It tastes nothing like other branded chocolate but a few bites in I got used to it and really started to enjoy it, its not really creamy but its like the chocolate on the top of biscuits and is very yummy but like in my case, you may have to get used to it! *Other Issues* Sadly, these can only be purchased at larger stores and only some metros, I can only buy these when my parents pop up to a larger store as they don't stock them in my local tesco express! *Overall* For a 30p chocolate, the taste is really good and you get quite a good amount of chocolate, but four squares equaling 90 calories and 10.5 grams of sugar, it isn't that good for you, but neither is a lot of chocolate!
The film starts with a lonely woman, she is mistreated in public, looked at like dirt and her home and car are vandalized, you begin to wonder what happened to her, the screen closely follows her eyes looking into her past and looks through a collection of her memories, you begin to see her romance with her husband, her memories of travelling and her pregnancies memories! You begin to wonder what Kevin did! The way the story is told adds an element of mystery to the film, because I had no idea of what the film was about I was kept in suspense every time, when we are introduced to Kevin, he is a small child who is very nasty to his mother and mistreats her, he clearly shows the signs of being a very dark person, or even a socio path from a very young age! Why was no help brought in? Well Kevin covers up every single dark action and motive by forming a kind and loving relationship with his father, anything his mother says about Kevin is written off as her being crazy or silly. *Cast* Tilda Swinton who plays Kevin's mother is great throughout, John C Reilly seems to have a more serious role compared to his roles in Step-brothers and other comedies which is also does really well and Ezra Miller my favourite cast member of all used his dark look and deep acting to play off the perfect teenage Kevin, a lot of films have me shouting at the screen because of terrible acting, but this has a great and fitting cast! *The storyline* The story line has some important missing parts, for one you see Kevin be born quite an evil small child and he seems to have been just born that way, the film focuses on the failure to bond with the child but doesn't focus on the mothers actions enough, she fails to teach him anything and even breaks his arm in anger, but there is a serious part missing in the storyline of how Kevin ended up the way he did, he kills school-children from his school but because of the onesided storyline you question his motives for this, no part of the film focuses on the school or any bullying that may have gone on, I would have prefered to see how Kevin acted in other social situations to try and place this actions! *The film overall* The film is two hours long, it is very one-sided and misses out on the major, Whats wrong with Kevin? and how Kevin behaved elsewhere, but as for a heartbreaking mothers story about a son who has done some terrible actions, it is a really great film! You see a woman who has had to take responsibility for her sons actions and how her life has changed and become a mess because of her own son and really does bring up some tears and thoughts! I'd give this a four out of five!
As a student, you always try to drink some coffee and energy drink when the days aren't enough or like me you realize you have a glooming deadline. Red bull is a lot more expensive than the others I usually buy and I do rarely buy it. *Can* Its just the typical 250ml can pictured above, this is the same as most energy drinks standard can, it retails for around £1.20 and above, which is a lot more than my typical 35p energy drink so I rarely buy it and for the same price could buy around five of a cheaper brand, In essence you tend to just pay for the red bull brand, which is very student-friendly on price. You can also buy a four multi pack for around a fiver. *Taste* The taste isn't as strong as the cheaper ones and tastes really sugary, it seems to have a horrible after taste and tastes much more watered down than other alternatives. Its not the nicest tasting energy drink out there. *Energy* Because I seem to live on these things during exam time (bad for me I know) I have noticed that Red bull does give the best and longest lasting burst of energy compared to others! and the crash and burn isn't as obvious as others, for that reason I tend to buy one of these for my coursework! *Overall* Price normally means some good quality, but in this case I don't think it does, the taste isn't as good as cheaper brands and they are way to expensive for an energy drink, but It certainly does give the best amount of energy!
Being a student you try to cut costs on everything you buy to try and save money for when you need it, I have quite an addiction to all fizzy pops especially coca cola and pepsi so I thought I would give this version a try *The bottle* Since the everyday value rebrand, the bottle is different from the picture, Its a clear bottle with a cream label with a picture of a glass of coke and the design behind it, its obviously a lot more attractive than the old white blue and red brand. The bottle holds 2 litres, like any other bottle of pop and will cost you 17 pence, which is an absolute bargain. *The Taste* It is sugar-free so instead of coca-cola taste, I thought it would probably taste like diet versions, it tastes like fizzy cola bottles at first, its not disgusting but the drink goes flat really quickly and tastes unbearably dry and sickly after about a quarter of the way through, its not refreshing at all and makes your mouth feel really dry and nasty. *Other information* I am extremely gluten sensitive, after a stomach ache and a close inspection, this was the problem, because I always forget to check labels, like a lot of other people may, this does contain gluten! *Overall* Cheap but not very nice and refreshing, I will be sticking to branded pop!
I am a self-confessed caffeine addict and was in love when I came home to find my nan had bought this! *The look* It is about twice the size of my kettle but still very compact and was easy to carry out, the design is really sleek and stylish, there is a nice cream panel with silver sides, one displaying how much water you have in the machine, when the machine is on it has an electric blue light on also very stylish and up to date, the jug fits in well and doesn't stick out at all. *How to use* Right before we turn it on, we remove the jug, we just take off the lid fill with the water down the side and put the filter ground coffee in filter, close the lid and put the jug back in, so its really easy to set up but can be a bit fiddly, the coffee making was very complicated when I first started as you have to always measure out exactly how much coffee you want, because if its less then five you press the "aroma button" to strengthen the coffee (if you like it strong) then click it on, the machine will make the coffee and the machine will keep it hot until you want it and after 2 hours will turn itself off! *Coffee for later* Before I had this I had no idea that coffee machines could be set for the time you wanted it so I was really impressed, to get my coffee set for the time I wanted it did take a lot of getting used to as well, You need to remember the aroma button again, set the clock to the correct time and then set the timer to start brewing at a certain time, The downside of this is that every time you unplug it you have to reset the clock and that can get annoying but once your used to it, it can be very handy! *Cleaning and care* None of the parts can be put in the dishwasher which is a pain, but I did find it quick and easy to clean out in the sink, I had to wait for a couple of hours with it unplugged to make sure it was cold, the filter was easy to take out, empty into the bin and wash up in the sink along with the jug and the filter holder and was easy to put back together, I always have a quick wipe on the outside to keep it clean too! *The coffee* Tastes amazing, its a defo 10/10 and is never too watery and the aroma settings make sure that each cup of coffee is as strong as it should be. *Price and Delivery* My nan bought this from amazon for £72.50, which does sound like a lot but it is a really good machine and it arrived the next day which was great, you can also get a floral, blue and red machine to match your kitchen
I first came across these as a four for one pound deal in Tesco, i was drawn in with all these amazing flavors to try and I'm a massive fan of hot chocolate and usually drink cadburys hot chocolate but after years of that I really fancied a change so picked up four of these and now everytime I'm shopping I always pick up one or two of these! *The Package* The small sachet contains enough to make one big mug of hot chocolate, its not really value for money because you pay for each cup, but its perfect one anybody who likes to switch and change and doesn't fancy paying for a full bottle. The sachet is quickly opened with a pair of scissors and poured in and chucked out! *The range and there taste* *Outrageously orange* This is one of my favourites, it tastes a lot like a terrys chocolate orange but a bit more watered down, with the last through sips when the flavour is very strong you can taste a massive burst of orange! *Cracking hazelnut* Another great flavour, the chocolate and hazelnut balance each other out and the nutty isn't too overpowering, the flavour reminds me of nutella and the flavour is really creamy! *Wicked white* Sadly, I didn't really like this one on its own, I did make up the flavour once with two sachets, with one sachet you can't really taste much flavour and seems to taste far too much just like watery milk, but with the other sachet in it became more creamy but I still couldn't taste much chocolate - was a bit of a disappointment for me! *Caribbean coconut* This seems to be a newer flavour out, the most recent one I have tried, the coconut seemed way too overpowering in this and the chocolate tastes way too bland in this some, another disappointment! The chocolate should have more of a kick in this than the coconut, I did somewhat enjoy it but was disappointed with the lack of chocolate! *Belgian Chocolate* The plainer flavour and just simple, its very rich but still very chocolatey, I have actually purchased the full size of this one, the chocolate is really strong and is one of my favorite hot chocolates! There are a few more others that I haven't tried yet too: Chocolate cherry, chocolate brownie, chocolate banoffe, Chocolate fudge, winter spice, Toffee, mint, vanilla and banana! so there is an amazing choice and most supermarkets offer a deal to mix and match with these! -Overall- I think these sachets are great because of the flavours, They give you a great supply to have a nice try of each chocolate flavour without having to buy and potentially waste a full packet of the hot chocolate, I think they are good for a night in with and add a sense of adventure to a cup of hot chocolate and I can't wait to keep trying them and seeing what they come up with next! The hot chocolate itself does need to be made with full fat milk too make it more creamy otherwise it can be quite watery in texture which sometimes doesn't cut it for me
Alcopops are something I always pick up for pre-drinks or house partys because everybody seems too like them, I don't tend to drink them when I'm out because they are a bit more pricey than my normal spirit mixers but they are great for a night in! *Price* Depending on where you buy them you can get them from £1.49 in home bargains or similar stores up too £4 in other stores, personally I only buy them cheap because they don't tend to last very long as they are so easy to drink, the bigger bottles only have about 3 big glasses or less in so paying a lot for these if I'm sharing is a big no-no! *The range* You can get cherry, blue (which is raspberry I think), cheeky (no idea what flavour that is) Orange, tropical, apple and ice! so seven different flavours but these can be hard to find as most stores just stock blue, cherry and orange but I have come across some newsagents that stock all seven! Most pubs and bars also tend to stock all seven too! *The taste* With 4% percentage I think its okay to give most people this drink without them getting too drunk, the taste is nothing like alcohol, you can't taste any vodka or other alcohol but it is like drinking a cheap bottle of pop and just taste like the fizzy drink alternative to the flavours, they do taste very sugary so If thats something you don't like I would avoid that, but the benefit of this drink is that it's alcohol that doesn't taste anything like alcohol which is perfect for some people! *Overall* A great variety of alcopops that are perfect for a night out, pre drinks or anything! But don't pay too much for them!
I picked these up for the cheap price of 30p, I'm always looking for cheaper face-wipes as I use so many of them so I put these in ready to give them a try! *The packaging* The packaging is a horrible bright yellow and isn't eye catching in a good way, they look like a typical package for a cleaning product and look like wipes you would wipe your toilet with them, the 30p will buy you 25 wipes, which doesn't last me long as I use two a day so a bigger pack would have been better, but you can't complain for 30p *The wipes* The wipes themselves are very thin but they are big and can double up, they do break really easily too which is a disappointment! *Use* The wipes let me down a lot here, I don't mind terrible packaging and bad aesthetics if the product inside is good, but these were really bad, I used them to wipe my make up around my face off this made my face tingle and was really uncomfortable and sticky, when trying to remove my mascara it didn't rub off any of my mascara, moved my eyeliner around my face and really made my eyes burn, it took a further two more face wipes from the pack to fully get my foundation off, they also had a really bad smell of baby wipes mixed with really strong orange juice which wasn't pleasant, my face was also really dry and irritated afterwards! *Overall* I don't normally complain about something I've spent 30p on but these were awful and really something to avoid if you want too look after your skin and especially if you have bad skin.
I have had two of these one as a gift from friend after they complained of it hurting their eyes, and another as a stocking filler! *The Tube* The tube is really thick compared to other brands, I have two different designs and have seen a variety of them online too, The standard tube is normally a very shiny black and I have one with Gold tiger print one the side and one with a pinker floral design so there seems to be a couple you can collect which is cool! The top screws off very easily and the brush is also fairly thick! You can get these from around three pounds or less online but Avon stock it online for £8.50 which really isn't something I would pay for it personally! *Application* I have very small eyes so the clumpy brush did mean I had to have a cotton bud handy ready to wash off an extra black blobs, I can be fiddly to get into the really inner eyelashes, so I would have liked a less thick brush, But after one application you can defiantly see a big difference and my eyelashes looked very long but not too thick, on the second and third go they started to get thicker but also clumpy and started to look very spidery and not the look I wanted, my lashes began to stick together and were not separated, in this case I would only put the brush over once and use it as a daily mascara! *Results* I really love my mascara to be the darkest of blacks, but this mascara started off nicely but went a murky grey after a few hours! This mascara doesn't seem to give any kind of curl just length and the volume just seemed to be clumps, The mascara didn't look very healthy and always looked like a dry old mascara, considering I had it the day my friend used and received it It really shouldn't have started looking grey at all! *Overall* A disappointment really, I wanted black and shocking eyes but I got a grey and murky long lash instead, it does provide a good length though and I have decided to use it as a base for my other mascara, so I guess its a massive avoid for people with sensitive eyes (like my friend) and people who want a black but it could suffice as a day mascara or as something to use with other mascaras!
I have a number of these hanging around in my wardrobe and they come in very handy as they go with anything and are so cheap and easy to wear! *Price* The skirt can be bought for 4.99 or 3.99 depending on where you buy or what time, I don't know why they vary in price but they seem too! The skirt is just a very simple black material, the black isn't as bold as I hoped but the price made up for it! *What to wear it with* I always wear these with tights or leggings as they seem to be a bit to short to wear alone and they can be fairly transparent, You can wear them high-waisted or you can keep them under a top so you can pick or choose, I think these are perfect for the day or night and look really smart for job interviews too! *The Range* Black, white, striped, pink and I have also seen other colours depending on the trends, they are normally in a small section of the store and have a wide range of sizes and colours! *Overall* I would certainly give these a five out of five and recommend any girl to have a few of these in the wardrobe, they are so easy to wear and so cheap and have a wide array of colours and ways to wear them, so get down to H&M and pick up a few!
I picked one of these up recently in Primark for the small price of a pound, they included four colours, one dark brown, one gold, a really light gold white and a whitey cream colour! *Packaging* The make up is packed in a small plastic sachet, once open there a white cheap case, with a clear cover and the four eye shadows and a white holder for the brush and swab applicator! The packaging is very basic and simple but slightly better than something you would expect from Primark. *Application* I tried out the brush but that made application messy because the shadows would just crumble and the powder would go everywhere, the other side of the applicator the swab fell off after the first bit was put on my eye! So I used my own brush to apply, the shadows still break really easily and was really messy on my sink but was easy to wash off, with my own brush application was easy but messy! *Results* The colours aren't as loud as I had expected them to be and very glittery, sadly the colours didn't last long at all and just left me with very glittery eyes, there doesn't seem to be too much difference between the colours and the darker colour isn't dark at all, so It was a shame. Overall they are some nice subtle colours, but they don't last long and aren't as bold as I wanted them to be, so I'm afraid they are not for me!
I'm a massive fan of leopard print and was dying for a pair of leopard print leggings, after buying a cheaper pair and the material being way to thin I forked out for a pair of these! *What to wear them with* You can wear these with black heels and a nice plain top for a night out, or during the day I tend to wear these with a jersey top and a pair of flats and they look perfect with my topshop leather jacket! *Price* They retail for twenty pounds which sounds a bit much but there are several reasons why they are worth it: -The material is thick, meaning its warm and can be worn winter and summer, they keep your legs warm in the winter but aren't too hot in the summer heat. - The quality is amazing, other cheaper leggings don't tend to last me long because the stitching comes loose or the quality of the material isn't up to scratch but these are a really good quality legging! *Fitting* I bought it a size above my usual six, as the rise was quite low as I'm quite tall, on the six the leggings didn't cover up my bum enough and were too tight around the waist, the 8 is more comfy and sits on my hips nicely and the leggings reach my feet and aren't too short, I would recommend getting a size bigger in most cases, but leggings are defiantly something you need to try on first! *Overall* Leopard print is something risky as it can look tacky a lot, but these leggings certainly don't look tacky and are comfy and really good quality, twenty quid is a lot for leggings but because they last so long and are something you can wear day or night so they really are worth it, if you don't want to pay full price it is worth looking on eBay!
