I bought this at least 5 years ago and it still works perfectly never failing me once. It cost me about 50 pounds at the time but it proved to be worth the money.
The kettle holds a recommended maximum of 1.7 litres of water but it seems to take a little more with no problems. It has a round base with the electricity plug. The cord is a little short but I guess that's probably the standard length for kettles. The kettle itself has a see-through window with markings for the amount of water so you can see and measure how much you put in. The button on the handle turns it on and pops out when the water is boiled and ready. It has a built in filter at the opening. The cover can be flipped open to fill the kettle or clean it. It is quite wide which makes it easy to clean the inside. It's not noisey, just the sound of water boiling but I guess that's expected?!
I have this kettle in a different colour. Mine is a light purple with a slightly darker purple for the button and the little piece on the cover. I noticed it didn't change colour although I use it several times a day and it did travel through different flats and even different countries. I am not sure you can say the same for a white one as the one pictured but the material itself seems to not be of the type that changes over time. I found a quick wipe always makes it look as good as new.
There is a little limescale build up on the metal base inside the kettle but this is where the filter comes in. So I didn't even notice until I looked in once. I didn't really try to get rid of it (disgusting I know) but it doesn't look that bad.
I don't know why this item has ratings for picture and sound quality! I just put 5 stars since it's not noisey and it looks ok.
I must say this is one of my favorite perfumes ever. It is a little bit strong and I tend to save it for special evenings considering the price. I think this is my fourth bottle, the smell and feeling it gives you is just so special that it makes it worth the money.
The bottle I have now is 50ml. As you can see in the picture the bottle is a glass square with a plastic rectangular cover. The top of the bottle just below the lid has a cream line going around it over a gold background and has the Chanel logo in gold. The bottle itself is clear with nothing but a square in frosted glass with a gold boarder. The writing in the square is not coloured but just in unfrosted clear glass. The bottle does look very elegant and the size I have is very light making it perfect to pop in your purse or for traveling.
The fragrance itself is flowery with a hint of fruitiness. I find it very feminine and did get a lot of complements on it. It is probably one of the few perfumes I've ever had where you can smell it on yourself over the day and not just when you spray it. It does stay long on you, and sometimes I can smell it on my clothes even a few days later. Of course it is an Eau de parfum, so maybe that's expected. But it makes it worth the money since just a little goes a long way.
As I've said before I've bought this regularly for the past few years. Some bottles stayed with me for a couple of years. I've never had a problem with the dispenser (which I did unfortunately have with other expensive perfumes). The scent is as strong and fresh after 2 years as it was when I first bought it.
I bought this foundation when I noticed a friend of mine, who has a similar complexion to mine, suddenly started having flawless skin that looked wonderfully natural. When were out with friends for dinner and everyone was complementing her skin. I asked her later and she told me she just bought this foundation.
I tried it and was happy to find it had the same effect on me :) I have normal skin and she has dry skin so I guess clinique are delivering what they promise.
The bottle is square with a metallic lid as you can see in the picture. It's surprisingly light as I expected it to be heavy because of the thick glass bottle. Once you remove the lid, there is no applicator or anything. You just use a sponge or your fingers on the opening and flip the bottle to get some foundation out. On the bottom of the bottle it tells you that once opened, it can be used for 2 years. Which is good since my 30ml bottle lasted for a long time, of course it depends on how much you use and how often. The foundation itself is not thick but rather a thinnish liquid. It's easy to apply and blends in well with my skin.
It also says on the bottle that it is tested for allergies and 100% fragrance and oil free. Although it says on the bottle to shake well before using, I never experienced any problems with it or noticed the components separating.
What I like about this foundation is that it does look natural and I don't feel it on my skin. It also never drys up in lines or under my eyes. I would say it lasts for quite a long time so it looks good throughout the evening.
I found out about just eat when I was trying to order takeaway but was not at all willing to go out in the cold to get money to pay them.
The site is easy to use , just enter your post code and a list of restaurants is returned with delivery times and minimum order limits. The good thing is that they show you only restaurants that will deliver at the time of your search. You can then look at the menus, pick what you want and order. The menus are just text, so no pictures to help you choose :)
You can either pay by card or by cash on delivery. I always felt my order will be ignored if I didn't pay online but I tried once and got my order all the same. You have to pay a small charge for paying by card depending on your card type but it's in the range of 0.50-2.50. Delivery time depends on the restaurant but I have to say it was always a little more than their estimation. Once you place an order, a message on the screen telling you that they are contacting the restaurant and you should wait to see if it's confirmed. I find the best way is to check your email to see if the order got through as the on screen message can be stuck forever sometimes.
The choices of restaurants are always plenty but I guess it depends on where you live. I live in central London so no problems in choice so far. You can filter the lest by restaurant type (italian, indian, etc). There are a few places on their list that deliver drinks and cigarettes all night but I have to say I never tried them.
I never had a problem with them so can't comment on customer service. I ordered Persian once and the delivery man told me if I order from them directly, I would get a free salad and drink.
To me the biggest benefit from using them is being able to pay by card. Other than that having all menus is good 2 but you can always look at the menu and order from the place directly by phone. Although they don't charge anything so you can just as well order from them.
You get some points when you order, but you can't use these points to order. You can use these points to enter competitions on their site. To be honest not worth the hassle.
I find the Argos website much better to use for finding good deals than going to the store and flicking through the catalog. You can search for the item you are looking for and then either order it for delivery or reserve it for store pick up. You can enter your postcode and it will let you know which Argos stores near you stock the item and gives you the ability to reserve it for about a day. I find this saves a lot of time and effort.
The website also has reviews by people who bought the item. When you pick something, like a dresser for example, it shows you related items or items from the same range. It also notifies you of any deals related to your item.
Delivery charge is the same no matter how many items you order. It's 5.95 for small items and 8.95 for large items. This makes it really cheap when you are buying furniture or appliances. On the other hand if you are just after one small item, you are better of picking it up at store. I have ordered several times and they almost always deliver on the day you pick. The items come packaged well and I only had a problem with them delivering the wrong item once. I didn't complain though because the missing item was very cheap and not worth the hassle.
One thing I don't like about the site though is that in the sales section a lot of items are sold out. To be honest almost 80% of items are sold out and you get excited over nothing. You would probably miss some good deals as well because it's just boring to go through pages of sold out items to find one that is not.
They tend to have good deals on electronics and appliances but sometimes I find amazon or ebay to be cheaper. So it's always worth it to check on all three. Usually they give you a 10 pound voucher when you buy so you can save on your next purchase. As for furniture, It's cheap and looks ok but I always find their stuff shaky no matter how careful I was putting it together. In one dresser the drawers kept falling out of their place and I had to put cardboard behind the things that hold the drawer into place so it would be the right size.
I feel in love with ASOS when I first moved to the UK a couple of years ago and found it a good way to stock up on winter clothes like jumpers and cardigans as I didn't have many.
The site is very easy to use and includes a large stock of high street brands as well as designer brands. A lot of filtering options are available where you can filter by size, brand or even colour amongst other things. You can also sort by price or new arrivals. Once you click on an item, pictures are provided for all colours which I find very useful. They also usually have a few pictures from different angles and close ups. In many cases you can also watch a short video of the model wearing the garment. The also list in the decision the height of the model and the size she is wearing or the length of the piece. So you can get a pretty good idea of what you are buying before making you decision.
standard delivery is free and usually arrives very promptly sometimes even faster than the time they state. Your tings are packaged well with each piece in it's own little plastic bag. Returns are hassle free, you just drop it off at the courier which usually has many branches so from my experience in London it's easy to find one close by. I tried both returns and exchanges and in both cases my request was processed in around a week. Customer service is very friendly and respond fast. However in one case I ordered an underwear set and one part was missing. When I contacted them they refunded the price of the missing piece as they didn't have it anymore in my size. Being part of a set, I thought they should have offered something more. The did offer to refund the other piece's price if I returned it. But it was too much hassle for a few pounds and returns where not free at that time so I would have had to pay for postage so I felt a bit cheated.
My strategy was I would look at sale items and it was always possible to get a nice jumper or dress for not more than 8 pounds. I did by a lot of their own brand which to me looked high quality and had nice basic designs and was (when on sale) very cheap. I also managed to buy some other brands like Miss Sixty for a lot less. However, after about a year of many many orders. I noticed that the quality of their own brand wasn't that good. After only a few washes, they were really not suitable for wearing in public. The stitching of one dress just came of in some parts and jumpers looked like they were worn for years. They didn't even get a proper one year wear, as I bought a lot and was rotating quite a lot. I completely avoided their brand after that, unless it was very cheap where it was ok not to expect more than a year from it.
I still buy from them but limit myself to brands I know.
I have no idea why this brand was discontinued as it was very attractive and a lot of their products where actually very good.
I bought this lip gloss with a bunch of other products quite a long time ago. To be honest I wasn't really looking for a plumping effect as my lips are quite full but plumping products where very popular at the time and I wanted to see what the fuss was all about.
The gloss comes in very attractive packaging: an air bag decorated with a lacy balk design and a little ribbon on top. It looks more feminine than girly which I very much liked about the pout brand in general. The air bag also makes it safe to order online without worrying about the product getting damaged in transit. Although I bought mine from the store but since you can probably only get it from ebay now, it's a nice feature.
Inside was a 10 ml squeezy tube with the same lacy design on the sides that looks very elegant. The tube has a black cap and the top of the gloss is a plastic slightly smaller tube that is cut diagonally with a little opening for the gloss to squeeze out. This makes it easier to apply evenly as it works a lot like a lip stick.
I think mine is the original as it doesn't have any colour name displayed on it. It's a medium fleshy tone. When it is applied it gives a slight tint and a very nice shine. It smells of peppermint and as soon as you apply it you feel a tingle all over your lips that lasts for a few minutes. I have to admit though I didn't see any noticeable change in plumpness and I have been using it for quite a while. I never used it regularly though and never 3 times a day as they suggest. But I did use it at least once a day almost every day for more than a month and didn't notice any difference. It is very refreshing though and looks nice on your lips. I also find it hydrates your lips and you might not need a lip balm or chap stick when using it. It is sticky though and you might feel your lips sticking together when you speak. I notices it doesn't last on long either but I can say that about most glosses.
Overall it's a nice little treat if you give up on the plumping thing.
I had about 1 1/2 stones to lose and joined Dietchef in January to give it a try. I followed a 1200 calorie plan and have to say I didn't feel hungry. The food is good and feels like it's home made. In addition to the food they send you, you should add 2 portions of fruit, one portion of vegetables and 250 ml milk.
The first few days I followed that plan by the letter and felt a bit hungry on some days. When I calculated how many calories I was getting, I found that it was about 1000 calories or less. I went on their website and found out on the discussion board that you are supposed to add food to cover the extra 200 calories you are missing. To me that didn't make sense, as I was under the impression that with the 200 pounds I am paying for a month, I was supposed to get all the food I need for a day. Anyway I ended up adding either bread or rice fr 200 calories to dinner. I never felt hungry after that. On some days I even felt full and didn't believe I would lose any weight.
I stuck to their diet the first 5-6 weeks and lost about a stone. I had some of their food left and since then I have been mixing days where I eat their meals with days where I eat normal food (and sometimes indulge) and haven't gained any weight back (June).
The food doesn't need to be stored in the fridge and lunches and dinners come in pouches that you can just pop in the microwave. Heating the food up takes from 2-4 minutes. Use by dates are far in the future (around 6 months or so).
The website offers support as well with the discussion board and tools to find set weight lose goals and time limits.
delivery is free if subscribe for 2 months or more and costs about 4.95 otherwise. I find they never deliver on the day they state but it's not a problem for me as I don't have regular hours and can be home when I am expecting a hamper. Food comes in several cardboard boxes. One time dinners where packed in smaller boxes with about 10 in each and you can remove the top half making the food easier to store. Next time however it wasn't but I still had the boxes from before so I just re-used them.
There are 3 main categories: porridge, granola or Muesli cereal bars. Each come in 4-5 different flavours. I like porridge the most as it's more filling and I find theirs even better than Oat-so-simple. Granola is nice too especially the chocolate flavour but it has more calories and is less filling. I don't really like the Muesli bars and only ordered a couple to try but that's probably just me.
Lunch is basically soup. The have a lot of different soups and although I am not a big soup fan, I do enjoy them. Some have vegetable chunks in them which makes it feel more like a meal but all are nice. There are many vegetarian options but some have meat. They also have 4 flavours of milkshakes but I think soup is as far as I would go with a liquid lunch so I gave them a pass. I tried them once though and they are quite heavy.
Dinner is either a stew-like type or pasta. There are a few vegetarian options but not many. The lasagna is nice but smallish and they also have cottage and shepherd's pie. Meals with rice or pasta in them are more like the sauce with a little pasta or rice thrown in, you could almost miss it. The chicken paella is especially delicious although it smells like fish for some reason! The food tastes nice but I find the sauces to be a bit excessive compared to the vegetables or meat. I tend to pour some of it out and have it as a side soup or something. Although they have a lot of options it gets a bit boring after a while since the main categories of food are the same.
The popcorn is really nice and is a generous amount with only 100 calories. You can either choose salted, maple syrup or salt and vinegar. Salt and vinegar tasted horrible. The oat bites are nice and the cookies are ok. However, the snack bars were just awful.
I needed to postpone a delivery date once because I was going away. I didn't need to hold long and they were really nice and helpful. I called outside office hours so I was told I had to call the next day to change the date. I didn't have to call as they called me back the next day to confirm the change.
I bought this a long time ago and use it regularly and still didn't get halfway through it. I guess it makes it good value for money even if it was a bit expensive to buy.
It comes in a nail polish like bottle and the colour is exactly what you see in the picture. The liquid inside is a very thin and watery and this is probably way it lasts so long since you only use a few drops every time.
It is quite secure and doesn't spill but if you forget to fasten it tightly you might have a little disaster in your bag which happened to me once and it takes a while to get it off things. However, this kind of proves that it does work! I don't find the brush applicator very hygienic as you dip it back in after using it. It might have been better if it was designed in a different way.
I only use it on my lips and it does take a while to get it right as it doesn't easily give even coverage and sometimes you end up looking like you just had a red lollipop. I usually cover it with gloss as I only want some colour to be there in case the gloss disappears through the day. I am not sure how long the tint lasts but it's usually gone by the end of the day. It definitely lasts longer than gloss though. I never tried it on my cheeks which I think I might give a go after reading some of the other reviews.
I like the idea and would probably try out other similar products but I wouldn't buy this again as I mainly wanted it for lips and from my experience it's nothing too special.
I was really excited when this sauce came out as I love sweet and sour chicken and I usually like Uncle Bens products. I didn't find it in my local supermarket so when one day I did, I happily grabbed a jar but thankfully I didn't get over excited and grab many.
The jar is 500g and has cooking instructions on the side. I find that helpful because although it is easy to guess the instructions, it is always good to have conformation if you are not a regular cook. I think one jar is enough to cook for 4-5 people.
The sauce was thick and had big chunks of vegetables you would normally find in a sweet and sour (green bell peppers, pineapples etc). It took little time too cook and it looked beautiful on the plate and exactly how you would expect it to be with perfect consistency and colour. The taste was nice but it was overly sweet and after a while I couldn't have more as the sweetness was ,to me, very off putting.
I never tried any other sweet and sour sauce to compare it to but comparing it to what I usually have in restaurants I'd say it's a bit too sweet. Such a shame as I thought I can have one of my favorite meals as often as I liked without worrying about costs too much.
I had a couple of really bad experiences with easy jet and decided not to fly with them unless they were the only reasonable option in terms of price. Not just because of the couple of times when something went terribly wrong but because I also find that in my experience they almost always have 1 to 2 hour delays if not more.
The prices are cheaper than normal airlines specially if you book early. But for that you get the following: The planes and seats are small and seats are not assigned. So sometimes you end up not sitting with however you are flying with. No meals are provided for free but you can buy sandwitches, crisps, drinks etc. You have to pay more for checked-in baggage and you can only carry one bag on board (including whatever you purchased from duty-free etc). If you want to board early, you have to pay extra. However, for short flights this is all bareable.
One time I booked a slightly late flight (around 7 or 8 p.m.) flying from stansted airport. At check-in nothing seemed wrong and the screens showed that the flight was on time with no problems(it was about one hour before flight time). however, after going through security the screens showed about a 1 hour delay and of course no explanation was given. A little later the delay went up to 2 hours. A while later the screen simply showed the flight as cancelled!! again no explanation and no clear way of dealing with this. I went to the information desk and eventually someone from easyJet showed up. They booked a hotel for us and had a bus to take us there and back the next day for the replacement flight. I think my main problem with them is that was almost no apology and they weren't even friendly to us or took the time to explain. The next day we are taken back to the airport. You'd think after a huge mess up like this they at least wouldn't be as strict about luggage weights etc but they weren't. It almost felt like they did us a favor because they put us up in a hotel! Anyway the flight was slightly delayed and I called the easyjet customer service number to check while in the airport and was told that the reason the flight was cancelled was that they didn't have enough staff and that another flight this morning was cancelled too! I mean surely when you don't have enough staff you know beforehand and there was no need for the torture of incremental delays the day before.
I emailed them later to ask for compensation and was told I was not entitled to any because the flight was delayed and not cancelled! Surely showing the word cancelled on the screen and flying the next day with a different flight number is cancelled and not delayed!
I think what's bad about them is not only the delays and cancellations as this can happen with any airline but their attitude and the way they treat customers. I also find it ironic that they are so strict about check-in times to the second when they often have long delays that they expect customers to understand and not complain about. I have had a few other bad experiences with rude flight attendants etc but I guess you get what you paid for. Although I don't find them that cheap and was recently been able to avoid them as much as I can.
I got this watch as a birthday gift on my last birthday. The colour is slightly different to the picture. It's a normal silver colour rather than the whitish silver in the picture. The dail is also silver and is slightly lighter than the rest of the watch. The watch is made of stainless steel and has no seconds hand. It's easy to set the time as the crown has only one function.
I quite like the design as it is elegant and simple with nothing on the dail but DKNY and some of the numbers. The choice of numbers to display is unusual (12,2,4,6,8,10) but it gives it character. It also makes it easy to tell the time if you are like me and find it diffecult on small watches to tell the difference between 4 and 5 etc lol
The band is adjustable as two of the square pieces that make up the band can be removed easly. You can either remove one or both and the square right after those two has DKNY embossed on it. So you won't lose it whatever size you choose. The whole watch is about 18 cm without removing anything.
I noticed that it sometimes comes undone for no reason but this only happened about 3 times. I am not sure if this is a problem with the watch's fastening bit or if I just didn't press it properly. I also feel it's a little bit heavy but not too much. But if you like your watch to be light than this is not for you I guess.
I've had it for about 10 months now and it works great and didn't need any battery change. It has a couple of small scratches but nothing noticable without looking really close.
I've been using exfoliating golves for at least 7 years. I started with a Body Shop pair and over the years tried all different types and prices from anywhere from the pound shop to the more expensive.
To be honest other than the colours and sometimes a slight difference is size, all were of the same quality and gave the same results.
Exfoliating gloves are great for your skin spically if you have ingrown hairs on some parts or even for your feet if you do a lot of walking. I wouldn't say it works wonders after one use but regular use sure makes a big difference.
Body Shop gloves come in a variety of cool colours that you can even match to your shower gel. I also find the little loops on each glove (not showing in this picture) useful to hang them up to dry. I find the body shop gloves to be a little small in size so if you have bigger hands you might try to make sure they fit before buying. They are also not too rough, I scrub like crazy and never had a scratch or skin broken.
With the really nice colour choices and the ability to match with other products, I find these to be nice for pampering or a nice gift set to someone. But to be honest I don't really see a difference and would rather go for cheaper brands.
I must admit I loved this perfume from the moment it came out. So when I had the chance to buy it, I still did even when I tried it and the smell wasn't so amazing. I have to say though that I did get a couple of compliments when I used it.
The bottle is beautifully designed and comes whith a little necklace wrapped around the top. The charm on the neclace has a little J, a crown and a little safty pin. I've been wearing it and it looks nice so it's an added bonus.
The bottle is a little chunky and made of glass. It makes it a little heavy so not ideal for travel or pop in your purse.
The smell is nice but noting exceptional. It can be used as a day perfume if you just spray a little.
The dispenser stopped working properly after a few uses. I don't know if this is just my luck because I never heard anyone else complain about it. It just fell off one day and after that I have to press it a few times for anything to come out.
I got this toaster as a "flat" warming gift a few years ago. It still works perfectly with no problems so I would recommend it.
Each to slots have thier own heat settings and cancel bottons. Being able to cook 4 slices of toast with 2 different heat settings is an added bounce when you are a couple. I also find the cancel bottons useful since pressing the handle up could break the toaster with time. I didn't notice that some types of bread don't fit fully but then again I am not fussy about my toast.
It looks quite nice but it does take up some space so not ideal for smaller kitchens. I find it a bit hard to clean although it has 2 removable trays at the buttom but even when I clear those out I still find a lot of bread crumbs are still trapped in there. This is a problem sometimes as turning it on could lead to those crumbs getting burned and smoke coming out. Although this only happened a few times but it is a negative.
