A great fridge freezer for a couple or small family.

I recently bought this fridge freezer as I have moved into a new house. I didn't particularly set out to purchase a Samsung fridge freezer but after looking round stores like Currys I found that these seemed to have the best designs for me, in stylish designs, and it is a good quality brand.

This fridge freezer is most suitable to you if you prefer a larger fridge space, rather than a larger freezer compartment. The freezer here contains two full size drawers and one half size drawer. The fridge has four main shelves and useful smaller shelves in the door. What I found when looking round was that a lot of the stylish fridges with the ice/cold water dispensers lack in door storage because of the water/ice unit (I was wondering where I'd put milk, orange juice etc) so just bear this in mind if you do use the fridge door for certain items.

Now in my house, the fridge looks really good and I've had a few compliments from visitors about how good it looks. When you first turn it on the manual says to leave it for 3-4 hours before putting anything in it, but after about 2 hours I found that it was really nice and cold, although I waited longer for the freezer to cool just to be on the safe side.

The shelves seem really sturdy, and it was also packed and taped up well when delivered to prevent any mishaps in transit. There are useful little extras that come with it such as an egg holder and a cool ice cube tray with different shapes.

I would definitely recommend this fridge freezer to couples or small families, as long as you aren't after a large freezer.

        Great tasting product, very versatile!

I recently bought this product after seeing an advert on tv (like many other people I'm sure) for a lemon and philadelphia chicken pasta recipe. My partner likes new things to sample for dinner so I thought that I'd give it a go.

Due to the advertising of this particular product there weren't many left in the supermarket, especially as there was also a special offer of the product for £1.00. This actually beat the supermarket's own version, which I was surprised about.

The product is packaged well to keep it fresh as under the main lid there is a peel-back foil lid. The product itself has got a lovely flavour to it - I thought it might have been a bit overpowering with the garlic and herb flavour to eat by itself on a cracker or bread, but while cooking I found myself dipping my finger into the tub for more! It would go extremely well with breadsticks for a yummy snack.

The recipe turned out well, which shows that this cream cheese is very versatile in what you can use it for. I think I'll definitely be keeping a tub in my fridge from now on. There is a wide range of recipes on Philadelphia's website and they all look quite simple and cheap-ish to make.

A bit of luxury for your home.

I recently purchased the Yankee Candle Fluffy Towels Small Jar. The first thing I'd like to say about the candles is that because they are a very popular brand and have such a large range, they can be very pricey. Never buy these at full price!! There are lots of outlet shops dotted around the country and websites too that offer good discounts. I got mine from a candle shop on the high street that offered a smaller range of candles but at greatly reduced prices. I think that mine was about £4.

I decided to go for a Yankee Candle for a few reasons. Firstly, they have a lengthy burn time (about 30 hours even for the small jar) and come with a booklet that tells you how to get the most out of your candle. Also, I like the design of the jars...they are never over the top and can look nice on display rather than being something you just bring out when you want to light it.

My main reason though for purchasing this candle is the smell. I wanted something to take any whiffs out of the bathroom as I hate those squirty bathroom air fresheners. The 'fluffy towels' scent smells really fresh - although I was torn between this one and the 'Clean Cotton' scent. It smells nice for ages and definitely isn't overwhelming. If you pop the lid back onto the jar for a few days and then take it off again you'll be able to smell it again if you've begun to get used to the smell.

I'll probably use this candle more as an air freshener, but may have an indulgent bath with it glowing away in the corner.

An easy watch but not for the weekend.

My boyfriend had this as a christmas present so one friday night we decided to sit down and watch it. My opinion after watching the film is that it isn't really a 'staying in on a friday night' blockbuster.....more a 'there's nothing on tv' midweek film.

I won't give anything away - the film is basically about three mates who all have horrible bosses, for various different reasons. They decide that their lives would be so much easier if their bosses weren't around, so decide to have them bumped off. Obviously their plans don't go smoothly and there are a few laughs along the way as they get themselves into a bit of bother.

I wouldn't say that I was laughing out loud while watching this, but there were moments that made me giggle, and some that were quite cringy (don't watch with your parents!). Seeing as the film has an all-star cast I suppose I was expecting more from the film. It's in the same style as films like 'The Hangover', but nowhere near as funny.

I think it was only bought for about £5 from a supermarket, so probably about right for the entertainment level. I'd watch it again but as above, probably just one evening in the week if there was nothing on tv.

Look out for Colin Farrell - I didn't recognise him right through the entire film!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Good little snack or a little extra for lunch.

I only used to ever eat full sized cheddar biscuits on a cheese board but recently starting buying these mini cheddar bags for my packed lunch for work. They are a perfect accompaniment to a sandwich and really tasty.

As this is only a small bag they aren't going to do that much damage to the waistline if eaten in moderation, although as with any biscuits/crisps I'd only give them to young children occasionally, not every day.

Even though it is a small bag, you do feel like you get quite a few in the bag. Perhaps this is because they actually fill the bag properly rather than other bags of crisps that seem enormous and then are only a third filled.

I paid £1.80 for a multipack of 12 in Morrisons but there was an offer of 2 multipacks for £3. I do like variety though so I didn't want 24 bags! I'm sure they would have got eaten though!

If you've never had these before then give them a go. They are very very cheesy though so if you don't like cheese then give them a miss.

A great product and will last a long time for your money.

This is definitely my favourite hand cream that's affordable for me at the moment. It's even better if you can get one of those £5 off No7 vouchers when you've bought something else at Boots.

I find that the cream feels like a lightweight lotion on your hands, but it works like a thicker, gloopier lotion, without taking ages to dry properly. This means that I use it all year round and maybe just use a tiny bit more in winter than I do in summer (or if I've been doing excessive chores and washing up). The smell is delicate and neutral and not overpowering like some products. It's even delicate enough for my boyfriend to use occasionally without him being paranoid that people will know he's used ladies hand cream!

Another good point is that this hand cream seems to last forever! When no more will squeeze out I cut the tube open and there's still loads left! Put it in a sealable sandwich bag or something similar and it won't dry out.

            Disadvantages

Will shop there again, only because there aren't many other choices!

I recently needed to purchase a fridge freezer and a washing machine for my new house. After looking briefly on the internet I decided that Currys definitely now has most of the market now that Comet has gone - so off I went to look in store. I aleady had a good idea of what I wanted so once I had checked it out I asked someone about ordering.

Everything was fine until they came to try to sell me their after-sales service, incase anything goes wrong with the products. I really didn't want it and made this clear (it was £10 a month on a direct debit!) but they just would not continue with the sale, pushing this service to sell to me. After about 15 minutes of me listening to them blabbing on and me shaking my head, the assistant went to talk to his manager, 'to see what he could do'. He came back and said they could offer me free installation on the washer (saving £20) if I took out the 'breakdown' service and one month free cover. I asked if I could cancel after a month and he said yes. So now I have it even though I didn't want it and I have to remember to cancel it.

The delivery was also messed up. They stressed in store that I would get a phone call half an hour before the van turned up (as i don't currently live at the property). They phoned me and said they were outside the house!! So then I had to rush like mad to get there as quickly as possible as I was scared they would leave and then charge me a cost to have it re-delivered. When I got there the delivery man said his phone was broken so he couldn't phone me (but he'd phoned to say he was outside!?).

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Large portions and an extensive menu. Good quality food.

I've been to Frankie & Benny's many times, at many different locations. I've never had a really bad experience here, although I have waited quite a while when it's busy, but I suppose that could be my own fault for not booking. Just watch out for spending too much at the bar while waiting for a table (they give you something that vibrates when a table is ready for you) as the bar staff do keep encouraging you to have another!

The menu is extensive and it can take a while to choose. Make sure you're aware that the portions are quite large (after all, it is American!) and don't be tempted into ordering unnecessary sides that you don't really want by the waitor/waitress.

The meats are always really well cooked, I've never had to send anything back (I am quite fussy with meat too) and the pastas are good for somewhere that isn't really a proper italian. My latest find is the sharing pizza, it actually is really good value compared to the other pizzas and you can get any combination of the pizzas on offer (half and half). Myself and my partner couldn't actually finish all of it, although we did have garlic dough balls too, and it was about £5 cheaper than having two separate pizzas.

The only slightly annoying thing is the 'happy birthday' music. It's very loud and goes on for quite a while. Quite funny when you first hear it, but if they play it about 5 times in one setting it can get annoying!

            Advantages

Needs to work on their customer service!

I recently visited B&Q in Leeds to enquire about some bedroom furniture that I wanted to order online, and to pick up some decorating supplies.

I had already selected my preferred furniture range on a previous visit to the store, and wanted to look at a few items in more detail before ordering online (they had a special 20% online discount) such as different handles that I could select from. When looking at the different handles on display they weren't labelled so I didn't know how to identify the one that I liked when ordering online.

I must have hovered around the bedroom section for about 10 minutes before I spotted a member of staff. This member of staff however could not help me as it wasn't their department and suggested I ask upstairs (which was the kitchen and bathroom sections). I was wondering why there wasn't someone for the bedroom department seeing as there was a stand with an information 'i' on it.

The lady upstairs had to ask someone else, who then showed clear annoyance at being interrupted from a conversation with another colleague. When I explained what I wanted to be shown, she huffed and puffed and stomped down the stairs behind me, making me feel very uncomfortable that I was asking her to do something. She told me what the handles were called and then stomped off. I just hope they are the right ones when they arrive!

After this I really felt that B&Q could work on their customer service, especially when customers are about to spend a rather hefty amount of money and just want confirmation of something that should actually have been displayed in the first place!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Great quality items and lots of choice.

I am reviewing the Next Home stores as I have recently had a lot of experience of these while shopping for furniture for a new house. The Next Home stores can either be a smaller department within the usual Next shops, or a larger store of their own, usually on retail parks.

Many of the larger items of furniture can be quite pricey, such as sofas, chairs, tables etc. However, after numerous visits to various furniture stores and also browsing online I decided on a large fabric sofa (Alexis) from Next. The great thing was that it was available to see in most of the Next Home stores that I visited, even some of the smaller ones (I get around a lot as I have family in various parts of the country), and the quality was of a standard to rival M&S, at slightly cheaper prices. The thing that I liked about the sofas in Next Home was that they looked stylish and modern, without being OTT like a lot of the sofas I saw in stores like DFS and CSL. If you want a simple, stylish and comfy sofa then Next Home has a great range. They also have about 70 different fabric styles/colours that can be used on most of the ranges of sofas and they have all the fabrics in the stores that you can then drape over the sofa of your choice.

Ordering was really simple in store and staff were friendly. They told us it was free delivery and would take a maximum of 4 weeks to arrive, however it only took 2 weeks! They sent a txt when the sofa had been made and we phoned them back to state when we would like it delivered. They gave us a morning slot but then they phone with plenty of time to tell you how far away they are.

Now I'm saving up for a matching chair and hopefully some lovely decorative items from the new spring range.

Really good little car that suits a commuter who wants value for money.

I've had my Fiat Grande Punto (60 reg) now for around 18 months. What attracted me to the car was the fact that my mum had one and she loved it, so I suppose I was already a step ahead in my search with having a personal trusted recommendation. I have the basic model, called a Sound, which I think was similar to the Active model of previous years - the only difference being that my car has colour coded door handles and mirrors, rather than bumper black/grey.

The car has very basic features, but there is an on board computer which shows you various things such as fuel consumption etc. It doesn't have air con but when do you actually need that in this country? Only a few days each summer! Another thing that slightly bothered me is that there are only two seatbelts in the back, so not very good if you're taxi-ing friends around or small children as you can only get 4 people in the car, including yourself. The glove box is also small and I think I've crammed mine a bit too full and now it doesn't quite close fully.

However, there are many good points!! The boot seems really spacious for a small car (plenty of space for my shopping!) and there is plenty of leg room in the front and back seats. There are also a few handy spaces for your phone or other small items around the driver and passenger seats. A feature that I do really like are the remote controls on the steering wheel for the stereo. I've also had a few people ask if my car has alloy wheels when they've seen it from a distance - they're just really good looking trims (but a bit fiddly to clean).

The car is economical with petrol and I think I do about 350 miles on a full tank which at the moment costs me about £50. It's also quite speedy being a 1.4 without being too fast for it's size. There are plenty of air bags which does help you to feel safe. Fiat are usually good with service options, and I've had a low mileage service which cost about £110 which was much cheaper than the other service.

I do like this car and would definitely buy another Fiat Punto. I do miss a few gadgets and features so maybe next time I'll have to spend a bit more to get more features. A good reliable cheap car!

A lovely shop, a bit different to others with it's own style. Items can be slightly pricey.

I have been to a few Jack Wills stores, but I mainly visit the Leeds store. It's in a great location as it's on the edge of the Victoria Quarter (where all the fancy designer shops can be found) and it's right next to Debenhams, so very central to the high street.

When first entering the store (and most stores have similar fittings and design) you are greeted by a warm and stylish interior. Some of my friends think that Jack Wills is one of those typical designer stores where you daren't have a proper look around without a shop assistant glaring at you, but I've found that the staff are always friendly and leave you to look round, but are there if you need help. I particularly like the changing rooms in Jack Wills...they are a decent size and the lighting is good, and there is always one really big changing room with really good posters and even bean bags or super stylish chairs.

The clothes are good. There isn't a huge range of different styles and designs but they have their own unique look and the branding is good if you want people to know where your clothes are from. Some of the jogger bottoms and hoodies are really popular, and they can be expensive, but the sales can crate some really good discounts on items that you actually want, rather than items brought in specially for the sale. They also sell a few home items and the stationery is popular with students or for a gift.

I will definitely be going to Jack Wills in the run up to Christmas because it's great for presents, especially for the male members of my friends and family who I know will love the tshirts, hoodies, joggers and underwear. I may also treat myself while there!

              Advantages

Good for sensitive skin without a huge price tag - I would recommend over other brands.

I have very sensitive skin and a lot of shower gels can irritate my skin and bring out blemishes on my back and arms. I bought skin kind for the first time about two years ago and I've been using it ever since!

Since using this shower gel I have had much less problems with my sensitive skin and feel more confident to wear clothes which may show my upper back, shoulders and arms. The shower gel comes in various options, I have used the Refresh one, which was nice, but my favourite is Hydrate as it makes my skin really soft and smooth, without making it too greasy.

I've found that the shower gel is regularly on offer in major supermarkets, I normally pick it up for about £1 whenever I can (for the smaller bottle - the larger ones never seem to be on offer). If you use a shower puff then you hardly use any gel and the bottle lasts quite a while.

The bottle looks nice but I wasn't really interested in the design, more the gel itself. The bottle does make it clear though that it is good for sensitive skin.

I would recommend this gel for anyone with sensitive skin. It isn't a very strong fragrance though so if you're looking for something really fruity etc then this isn't for you.

One of the most useful and efficient kitchen gadgets out there.

I was bought this small George Foreman grill as a birthday present by my brother who knows that I'm health conscious but still enjoy tasty food! I've always tried to avoid having loads of different kitchen gadgets and appliances after learning from my mum who regularly bought something new, used it once, and then it gathered dust for years after. However, my mum actually uses her George Foreman grill regularly, and affectionally calls it 'George'.

So far I have used it for toasties, chicken and burgers. I also tried grilling fish with it, however this was a bit of a mess and the fish stuck very easily. I think I just need to improve my technique though! The grill heats up very quickly and it's easy to check on the food while cooking by just lifting the cool lid. It's amazing how much fat ends up in the drip tray, which really shocked me as usually I fry things like chicken, burgers, sausages etc!

After cooking it's really easy to clean, just wipe off with a damp cloth while the grill is still slightly warm. Even the sticky burger fat came off easily, whereas normally I would have to soak the grill or frying pan before scouring off (and normally ruining my pan!).

I would definitely recommend one of these grills. It is a perfect size for one or two people, any more and the larger sizes would be more useful. These grills have come down in price quite a lot recently, after the initial popularity quite a few years ago, so they can be quite a bargain.

We had a great stay, would definitely stay at YHA in Whitby again or elsewhere.

I stayed at the YHA in Whitby, after being invited to the seaside resort for a wedding reception. When planning the trip, and adding up all the costs (petrol, wedding gift, new outfit, spending money for the weekend) I decided that it would be far too expensive to stay at a 3/4* b&b or hotel. My partner had stayed at a YHA before, but I was somewhat skeptical. I didn't want to share a room with strangers! However, we found that they offered rooms that had one single bunk bed, and some that even had proper beds (although they were fully booked!).

The price was excellent - £40 for a Saturday night for two of us. When we got there the car park was slightly small, but the guy on reception helped to jiggle a few cars around that were leaving. We were right next to Whitby Abbey and even got free entry while we were there (saving us about £15 each!) and there were spectacular views from the room. The room was clean, basic, and warm. We had to make our own beds up but this was quick and I was surprised at how clean all the linen was. My other fear - sharing a bathroom - turned out to be fine also. There was a WC and wash basin in one room, and a full bathroom in another room, so plenty of facilities for the few bedrooms that were sharing. Again, very clean.

There was a great cafe/restaurant in the YHA that did lovely big portions of homemade food for very low prices. I had the beef stew with a big doorstop of bread, and my partner had the pizza and a sponge pudding with custard.

Another good feature was that we were very close to the shops, bars and restaurants. To get to the wedding reception, which was a few miles away, we needed a taxi and the reception staff sorted this out for us.

All in all, a great cheap stay, very comfortable and the staff were very friendly. Perfect if you want a handy and cheap base to explore, and don't mind sleeping in bunk beds!!
