I like to put lotions and potions on my body and hope that it is doing something effective but I don't like to pay big prices. I saw this on offer for just £4 last year so I purchased it hoping for beautiful holiday legs!
This comes in a round bottle with quite a big screw cap. It is a orangey yellow colour and has a blue lid. The liquid is just like oil. It's really greasy but the plan is to rub it into your body and it should help to firm you because of the ingredients.
I find it very hard to apply. I don't want to put it on my hands first then rub it in because it's so oily but there really isn't much choice because it just pours out of the bottle. It would be much better for it to be a spray instead I think.
Once on my skin I rub it in and I feel like I need to keep adding more as it doesn't go a long way. It gives my skin a shine that's for sure!
It's really hard to get it off my hands afterwards. It requires lots of soap and I really hate how it makes my hands feel.
In terms of my legs they are really greasy and so I can't put clothes on or sit down for about 10 minutes until it soaks in.
I think it helps my legs to look healthy and keep them nice and moist, no dry skin here! But it certainly doesn't firm and I really dislike how oily it is.
I have fair skin so I always use high factor sun cream, 30+, anything below that and it's pointless as I just burn. I bought this one from Tesco's because it was half the price of the others.
It came in a bottle which has a little flip cap and then you squeeze it out. The lotion is white and really quite runny, it is so easy to get more than you need out so you have to be careful. It doesn't have a specific smell, if anything it's just your standard sun tan lotion smell with nothing extra added to it.
When rubbing it in it's easy enough to spread around your body but it takes ages to absorb, it kind of sits on top of your skin for ages which leaves you looking really pale. It's not a good look!
It does seem to protect from the sun well. I found that this was just as good as any other brand that I have bought before. I didn't burn. I did regularly apply it.
ONe thing though, it doesn't appear t obe very water proof. I know they always say to reapplly it after being in water anyway but this one seemed to rub off really easily when you just as much as wash your hands so be aware of that.
I think it's an OK product, worth the price and definitely nothing too bad. So 4 out of 5 stars for me. I would buy it again.
I don't often wear nail varnish as I paint for a living so my nails are usually hidden under paint! But when I do paint them I require a good remover for when they start to chip. I bought this from Asda as it was really cheap and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something I wouldn't use very often.
It comes in a really plain bottle but I don't need anything fancy, this isn't for show! The bottle opens by unscrewing the lid and then you pour out the liquid onto cotton wool. The opening is quite big so you have to be careful else you can end up with far too much all over the place! I tend to put cotton wool onto the opening and then tip the bottle up so it soaks into the cotton wool.
I then smooth it over my nails. I have to apply quite a lot of pressure and move it slowly. I find that it takes quite some time. It needs quite a lot on the cotton wool too so it's almost saturated and then that has the best effect. My hands get really wet and messy using this. It isn't the best I've used as it t akes so long.
I find that when I have a dark colour on my nails it seems to take a lot longer too.
Although it does work eventually it isn't the best one out there. 3 out of 5 stars
We use basic cotton wool balls from Boots regularly. They are very practical. We tend to use them for a variety of reasons but mainly myself for removing make up.
The cotton wool balls come in a plastic packet which fastens with a string tie at the top. It is quite a bulky pack but I can't see how else it could be packaged really. It takes up quite a bit of room in the bathroom cabinet but sometimes we just empty it out into a little pot instead.
The balls are really good and chunky, about 4cm x 2cm and they're really dense. Despite being the basic range, they are really dense, sometimes cheaper ranges of cotton wool balls mean you get less cotton in your ball which makes it easy to rip and just be really flimsy but not with these!
I use these to remove my make up, I add my make up remover cream and use it to wipe away make up. It is really good for this as it's soft but it also is firm too, no bits of cotton wool coming off in wisps here! We also used these when our little ones were babies and needed them to help wipe them during a nappy change. They are so soft and gentle it is ideal for a young baby.
These are great, sometimes basic ranges can be so poor but this isn't the case with these. We've used several brands but this is the one we prefer.
I like wearing eye liner and I wear it on a daily basis. When I am going out for the evening I like to apply a little more than normal and sometimes using a liquid eyeliner gets a better effect. I bought this one but unfortunately it is really quite messy and very difficult to apply. ONce you have got it on though it looks good.
It comes in a little pot. You screw off the lid and lift out the wand which is attached to the inside of the lid. The brush is very narrow but quite long, it would be much better if it was shorter as this would give better control making it easier to apply.
The liquid is jet black and when you apply it you just run it along your eyelid. It is best to do this in one action rather than lots of little strokes as this gives it the best line. It is then best to keep your eye part closed for a few minutes whilst it dries. If you don't do this then the liquid rubs off onto the upper eye and it looks mess.
i find it difficult to apply, it often ends up being a wavy line rather than a straight, smooth one because it is so hard to keep my hand completely still. If it ends up in my eye it really stings too.
It looks good if I ever manage to get it on correctly but it's a shame that it just takes so much effort to get it to look nice!
I suffer with terrible migraines and when they occur I have to take pain killers right away. Paracetamol and other pain reliefs don't tend to help at all. My GP said I needed to take dispersible aspirin as these will get int my blood stream faster and will take effect whereas other tablets will sit in my stomach and not be digested as during a migraine the stomach stops working properly.
When I know a migraine is starting I disolve two of these in a small amount of water. It goes chalky and cloudy. I drink it down as quickly as possible whilst holding my nose and this is because it tastes hideous! It's a really horrible taste that makes me feel sick so my advise is drink it as quickly as you can! The taste doesn't linger afterwards so that's a relief!
I find that these begin to work right away. It is only a matter of minutes and these are taking effect. I find that although the pain is still present it isn't as intense. If I don't take the tablets right away, say if I leave it 15 minutes or so then the pain is worse even once these have began to kick in so my advice is to take as soon as you feel one beginning.
I haven't had any side effects from them but if you do have any you should stop taking them right away. They should not be used by various people such as if you are pregnant so always read the label. Also keep them out of reach of children.
We use various toothpastes, usually it is whatever is on offer that we tend to buy. There are so many different types that claim to do all kinds but at the end of the day we just want something which cleans our teeth and freshens our breath.
Colgate toothpaste was on offer recently so my husband bought several tubes for a pound each. He can't resist an offer! The flavour we got was peppermint and it came in a squeezy tube. I prefer the squeezy tube rather than the type that you press down as I find it is just easier to get the paste out. When it begins to run out you just curl up the tube and it pushes the remaining paste out.
We just put a small amount on our brushes, usually about a pea sized amount. It tastes very minty and it seems to clean well. I always feel like my teeth have had a good clean after using this and my mouth is nice and minty. I haven't noticed any difference though, my teeth are not any whiter or less sensitive or anything so I think that this works just like any other tooth paste. If anything I would quite like it to be a little bit more minty so it feels like my mouth is even cleaner.
So I think that this is a nice tooth paste but nothing amazing. 4 out of 5 stars from me. We will buy it again but we will continue to buy other brands to.
I normally really like Body Shop products and tend to get quite a lot for Christmas but this was one product from them which I was disappointed by.
I like body butters as they are a great way to make me feel like I'm having a bit of luxury. Body Butters help to hydrate the skin and I normally apply them after I have shaved to stop my skin going dry and I find body butters much more gentle than a normal moisturiser.
I bought this because I normally like Body Shop products and their body butters. I was disappointed though.
It comes in a large tub. I found the lid awkward to get on and off and it seemed to get a bit more difficult each time! The butter itself is very thick, so you have to dig your fingers in to bring some out. Once it reaches your skin it begins to be softer so easier to rub in but because it's so hard you end up getting too much out at first and it gets stuck under your nails.
The smell isn't great. It does smell like strawberries but it doesn't smell very natural, it has an almost plastic smell to it which doesn't make it very appealing at all.
I do find that this product does help to keep my skin hydrated but it is quite a messy process to do so and it definitely isn't the best body butter out there.
I was disappointed by it.
I love having a bath and relaxing. Sometimes it is the only chance I get all day to have just a few minutes to myself so when I do have a bath I like it to be as relaxing and as luxurious as possible so I like to have as many bubbles as I can.
What I like about Radox is that it creates some great bubbles and that it is also really afforable too. Sometimes bottles can cost just £1 which is great but usually they are about £1.99. They do lots of different flavours and I have had many!
This particular one is interesting as it's deep brown, something you don't expect from a bubble bath so it draws you towards it being so different! It smells really rich, of spices and a little bit nutty but only slightly. There's nothing specific that you can pick out and I prefer that. The blend of the various fragrances just work really well.
The bubbles are great, you don't need to put a lot in and they soon create lots of bubbles. The bubbles are brilliant because they stay too so you can enjoy a nice bath and they won't just disappear after a few minutes. Sometimes I've been lucky enough to have an hour long bath and the bubbles have still been there at the end!
I find this a lovely bath product, it helps me to relax and creates a really nice bathing experience. I love Radox and this is another good bubble bath from them!
We have various creams and lotions in our medicine cabinet to help with various ailments but one of the most reliable ones we have that we turn to for most instances is our Savlon cream. I used to use it a lot when I was younger and would get scrapes and things and now I have my own children I use it with them a lot too.
It is an antiseptic cream so is ideal at helping skin to heal and remain healthy, keeping away the germs. We tend to use this when skin is sore so when Hope falls in the playground and grazes her knee or when she banged her hand and it was sore.
Savlon comes in a pale blue tube and it squeezes out very easily, so easily that you may end up with too much if you aren't careful! We pop a small amount on the affected area. It doesn't have a smell to it which is always a relief and it can sometimes sting a little bit but nothing too drastic, it is quite a gentle cream.
We find that it helps skin to heal and also takes away some pain. I've recently had a sore toe which was throbbing and when I put this on it it seemed to give me some relief which was almost instant. It was great.
We do rely on this quite a lot and it seems to be a very good product which helps us to heal and keep the germs away from open wounds. We are very pleased with it.
My Mum bought me several body shop lip balms for Christmas a couple of years ago. Although I like them I don't think that they are as effective as other brands.
The flavours I got were an apricot one and a strawberry one.
They come in little round pots and so you apply it with your finger. I prefer this method of applicaton as I find that if you have it in a lip stick it can be easy to transfer germs from one person to another.
The lip balms smell lovely. The strawberry one is really nice and sweet but not in a false way like some products. The apricot one is really subtle, not a very strong smell at all.
When you put them on it's a little greasy and takes a while to soak in to your skin. The smell lingers but isn't too strong which is good seeing as it's so close to your nose!
Sometimes they discolour your skin a bit, it looks like you have put your lip gloss on but missed! So that isn't a good look! I tend to just put this on at bed time so I don't look like a clown!
The effect is to help relieve sore lips. It doesn't work right away but takes a few minutes to work. They help at preventing sore lips too.
All ingredients are ethically sourced which is nice to know.
I do like this product but don't think it is as good as others out there.
When straightening hair it can cause damage because of the high temperatures you use. So before using my straigteners i protect my hair with various products to help keep it healthy. This helps to stop the ends from splitting and going brittle and also gives my hair a nice shine to.
I chose this particular spray because it looked to be very simple and also good value for money. Some of the sprays were twice the price and I didn't see the point of spending so much.
To use, what I do is separate my hair into sections and then apply this to my hair. You just simply press down on the nozzle and the protection spray wafts out in a little cloud. I tend to put two puffs on each section and then brush it through to make sure it has covered all of the area. I then use my straighteners on it. Sometimes it causes a little puff of air and a crackle if you apply too much so less is more as far as this is concerned.
i find that when I use this product it helps to keep my hair as healthy as possible despite having the high temperatures applied to it. It also gives it a really nice shine and I'm sure that when I use it my hair is straighter than without it.
I really rate this product and won't straighten my hair without it. It's nice to know it is being protected. five out of five
I don't know what it is about my house but I seem to lose tweezers all the time and end up having to buy a new pair! I need to use tweezers regularly usually for my eyebrows but also for practical purposes for when the children put small things into a narrow space and I have to get them out again!
These tweezers are very good as they are pointed at the ends which make it easier to get at very small things. I find the ones which aren't pointed tend to be less accurate. The pointed nature of these can also have a negative too, it means that they can be quite sharp so when you are plucking your eyebrows if you are not quite right and end up getting your skin instead it can be very painful! When I first started using these I kept catching my skin and it really hurt but once you have got the hang of them you soon learn how to position them properly so you don't do this!
They are really good, they pinch well and you don't need to apply a lot of pressure in order for them to work either which is great. They pinch together properly too which is vital, I've had tweezers before that don't quite meet so if you're trying to get something very small like your eye lash then it doesn't quite grip it!
I think these are brilliant tweezers which are very well designed. 5 out of 5.
We needed to buy some new flannels as the ones we had were looking rather worn so when I went to The Body Shop and I saw this I bought it. The fact it said 'luxury' on it really appealed to me as sometimes the only luxury I have is that little bit of time to myself in which I have a bath.
I think that the way that it is called luxury is because it is slightly bigger than a normal flannel and is also very soft, it really is! Before I used it for the first time though I washed it, I always like to wash things first especially things like towels and flannels. I was a little worried that washing it may make it lose it's sofness but it didn't, it still remained just as soft.
I use this for washing my face mainly, the soap lathers quite nicely on it and it is really soft against my skin especially when I'm trying to remove some eye make up too, it really makes a difference to have a lovely soft flannel. It's really lovely and luxurious.
I always make sure that after I use it I wring it dry and leave it on the radiator to stop it from going mouldy and help it to dry. It is always soft again the next time I come to use it.
This is a lovely flannel, yes I could have bought one for much cheaper elsewhere but it wouldn't have been as soft as this!
My husband bought this by mistake, he just grabbed it in a rush and thought it was just shampoo but actually it is 2 in 1 so it has conditioner too.
This meant we had to use it as we didn't want it to go to waste so when we went away we took it with us seeing as it is 2 in 1 it is practical for things like that so we didn't have to pack as many bottles.
The bottle is tall and quite flat and the opening is at the top so when it is starting to run out we have to balance it on it's head to try to encourage the shampoo/conditioner to come out. It's not easy to squeeze with it already being quite flat so any encouragement is needed!
The shampoo/conditioner is quite thick but when it is full it comes out of the bottle OK. I massage this into my hair and it lathers up really well so that only a little bit gives really good coverage of the hair. It rinses out well too, it doesn't stick to your hair in a sticky mess like some products do.
When it comes to drying my hair I notice that it is difficult to get a brush through it. The conditioner element definitely doesn't work as well as if it was separate and so although my hair is clean it definitely isn't as shiny or tangle free as it could be.
We like this product but we don't love it. 3 out of 5.
