--------------------------- Price & Where to Buy ---------------------------- I absolutely love the products from Lush and for Christmas I was so thrilled to receive a gift set which contained a 100g bottle of this body lotion. Normally the bottle is 250g and retails at £12.50. This is bought in the Lush shops or on the Lush website: www.lush.co.uk. Products from Lush have a sticker on the back of them with somebody's face on, this is the person who has made the product, and it gives a date to use the product until. This body lotion is described by Lush as being 'light and fruity' which I personally would disagree with, I did not find it at all fruity, just very very sweet. The body lotion combines kiwi fruit with coconut oil and coconut water, cocoa butter and Fair Trade vanilla absolute. The bottle states that it is a lotion for the body and hands. But personally I would not use it on my hands as a hand cream, just on the body. -------------- My Opinion -------------- I was really looking forward to trying this as I love the solid body butter bars from Lush so I thought this would be lovely too. My first dislike though was the plastic bottle it came in, it looked very cheap and I certainly would not be happy at paying £12.50 for a full size bottle of this in this packaging. My second concern was the smell of vanilla, as I love vanilla if it smells natural but unfortunately this one is very strong and sweet smelling and it smells quite artificial to me even though I know that fresh ingredients are used, not artificial ingredients. Anyway I first tried this when I got out of the shower. I squeezed a reasonable amount into my hand and smoothed it onto my arms and legs. The first thing I noticed when I squeezed it into my hand was that it was quite hard to get out of the packaging, the bottle has a flip lid so you squeeze the bottle to get the product to come out and it came through the tiny little gap very very slowly. I am a person who is always rushing about so I didn't care much for its slow squeezing! Anyway once I had squeezed it into my hand I noticed it had a pearl finish to it. This I actually really liked as I thought it might make my skin glow which I felt it did. I liked the texture of the body lotion, it was lightweight and it sank into my skin quickly and easily so I could apply clothes straight away. The smell of the vanilla did linger for at least an hour. My boyfriend commented on how nice it smell (even though I still did not like the smell). ------------------------------- Is this for all skin types? ------------------------------- Personally I do not think this body lotion would be enough for somebody with a dry skin. It instantly sinks in and makes the body feel lovely and smooth but for somebody with a drier skin I would imagine they would need a thicker and creamier texture than this. I would say that this formula is lighter than most body lotions I have tried. --------- Overall --------- Despite the fact that I did not like the packaging, or the smell, I did actually really like the texture of the body lotion. It is perfect for me as I like to be quick in applying body lotions and I like to straight away put clothes on. If you like the very sweet vanilla smell I am sure you would be impressed with its lasting power. I find that after 10 minutes you cannot usually smell a body lotion but this one was certainly still around an hour later. Personally I am still a fan of the solid body butters from Lush, but I still finished off using this bottle. It was nice to try something different that I would not normally pick up as well. I give this product 3 stars: 1 star for its texture (allowing it to sink in straight away), 1 star for its pearl effect glow, and the last star for its lasting smell (even though I did not like the smell).
---------------------------------------------------- WHAT MADE US PURCHASE THIS TOASTER ---------------------------------------------------- My boyfriend and I bought ourselves a Sainsburys basics toaster when we moved into our flat and we asked for this Morphy Richards one for Christmas. We had lots of discussions over whether we wanted a silver toaster or a cream one to match in with most other appliances in the kitchen. Our other discussion was on whether we need a 2 slice or a 4 slice toaster. I did not think we needed a 4 slice toaster but he insisted! Anyway we ended up getting this cream 4 slice toaster and a matching kettle (which I will review another time). ---------------------------------- PRICE AND WHERE TO BUY ---------------------------------- My boyfriend researched the best place to get this from price wise so his parents were not paying some ridiculous price for it. He found that Amazon seemed like the best option with it costing £35.94. On the John Lewis website they did not have the cream colour we wanted, on Argos it was £49.99, and on Currys it was £39.99 so Amazon was the best deal out of those. This toaster can be bought in a range of different colours, but the colours vary depending on which model of this toaster you purchase. This model is the 44038. I have noticed that this toaster now has 20% off of the original price in Dunelm Mill (correct at 06/01/14) making it £31.99 (better than our price from Amazon). ------------------------------------- FUNCTIONS AND MY OPINION ------------------------------------- When we received this for Christmas I was so impressed with how smart it looked with its dark grey rim around the bottom and back of the toaster as well as its beautifully curved rims at the top. This toaster and range from Morphy Richards has been described as bringing the 1950s style into the house. I would not say that was the style we were looking for but despite that I absolutely love their appearance. It has many more functions than any previous toaster I have encountered. When I lived at home we had a Dualit toaster which I know was expensive but I have never hated a toaster so much. Any piece of toaster no matter what width seemed to get stuck and despite the function to help to lift the toast out it still got stuck. So every morning trying to get my toast out of the toaster was a dangerous matter with turning the plug off and trying some way to get the toast out! This Morphy Richards toaster seems a piece of cake in comparison as the toast lifts out perfectly even if I cut the toast to a strange width. The toaster's lever helps to pop the bread down and this lever also acts as a hi-lift facility to help to lift the toast out once ready. This works great for smaller items like crumpets or muffins. There is also a variable width toasting facility to enable different widths of bread to fit. I never thought I would ever review how evenly toasted my bread is but our previous toaster seemed to do one side of the toast far more than the other side, whereas this one toasts the bread completely evenly. Can your toast be too perfect!? The toaster has storage for the cable underneath to prevent unwanted cable being on show. Each side of the toaster (for each 2 slices) has separate dials so as you can toast each side according to the person doing the toasting. This despite sounding like a great feature we find quite unnecessary. The dials on our toaster are set to 6 which seems perfect for how we like our toast done. The dial can go from 1 to 9. There are three other buttons: a cancel button if you are worried that your toast is burning, or in our case if our boiled eggs are not yet ready. There is also a defrost setting button and a re-heat button. The re-heat button is a great facility as well if you have forgotten about your toast which I often do! This toaster also has many other great features such as non- slip feet to it, and two removable crumb trays (one for each side of the toaster) located at the back of the toaster which is great to stop the smell of any burning crumbs which have fallen and to keep the toaster clean. The dimensions of the toaster are: W = 250mm, H = 205mm, and L = 290mm. It is quite a large toaster, but because it looks so lovely I do not mind and that is what you get with a 4 slice toaster anyway. The toaster comes with a 2 year guarantee with Morphy Richards (not from the place of purchase). ----------------------- OVERALL VERDICT ----------------------- This toaster is stylish, has the option to toast up to 4 slices and it has lots of different functions to cater for your every toasting need! Both my boyfriend and I are very happy with this toaster, its functioning and appearance. If you would like to kit out your kitchen with some new appliances that all match then this range from Morphy Richards is excellent!
------------------------ Price, Place & Colour ------------------------ We purchased this off of the John Lewis website after we received some John Lewis vouchers for Christmas. It cost us £49.99 and it is the HM792 version. This was the same price as Amazon which I found quite surprising. It is currently £53.99 on the Argos website. I looked on a number of different websites to research this hand mixer before buying and I found that it came in four different colours: magenta (a bright pinky purple), almond (which is cream), peppercorn (which is black), and raspberry (which is red). So they are really lovely and diverse colours. Other versions of this handheld mixer have other colours such as bright orange. We purchased this in the almond as most of our kitchen appliances are also cream so I wanted it to match in. The hand grip on the mixer and the base of the stand is in a dark grey/blue colour which also matches our toaster and kettle perfectly! In the box came an instruction manual and leaflet which gave very clear and easy instructions. It also explained how it comes with a one year guarantee from Kenwood (not from where you purchased it from). -------------------------- Appearance and Stand -------------------------- I additionally wanted this particular product to blend in with our kitchen colour scheme because normally with hand mixers they get put away in the cupboard but with this one it comes in a smart stand so it looks lovely to have it out on display in the kitchen. I have recently started cooking a lot after receiving a very good Mary Berry book from my boyfriend so it is nice having this out ready to use rather than having to find it in a cupboard. I also do not mind having it out on the work surface as it is quite compact, and it has specific stands for not only the mixer itself but it also has a cord which you can twist around the bottom of the mixer and it holds it in place with a clip preventing it from popping out of its place, however not all of the cable seems to wind around this completely. Additionally it also has stands to attach the stainless steel beaters and kneaders making it look extremely smart! The stand is made out of strong plastic. The cord is 1.3 metres in length which has certainly proved to be long enough for use in my kitchen. ------------------------------ A Few Technical Elements ------------------------------ It has an energy efficient 400W motor making mixing extremely easy. It has five different speeds and a pulse setting. The thumb control for changing the different speeds is extremely easy and effortless to use. My previous hand mixer I struggled to change the speed easily and I found it too heavy to use, whereas this one is much lighter weight and easy to control. It is 1.5KG. However apparently this weight is heavier than other Kenwood hand mixers but it is certainly lighter than my previous hand mixer (but this was not by Kenwood). The design of this mixer is unusual, it is perfectly designed to make mixing completely effortless and it has a soft grip handle making it comfortable to use. My previous hand mixer ached my hand after mixing for some time. I whisked whipping cream the other day to top my Mary Berry trifle and I had absolutely no problems, and the hand grip seemed just right. My hand did not slip and it did not ache after use. I used to have to call my boyfriend in to take over the mixing but I no longer need to do this. It has two different types of whisks that you can insert into the bottom: the beaters (the regular looking attachments for a whisk) and the kneaders (the attachment which is new to me - the swirly accessory). I have not found that I have needed to use the kneader yet; the beaters work an absolute treat for everything that I need. But perhaps I will give them a go in the future. Spares of these accessories can be bought on other websites which is good but as they are made of stainless steel I very much doubt we will need to buy spares unless we move house and lose one. The accessories are dishwasher safe however I always wash them by hand. When inserting the beaters or kneaders there is a lock system to ensure that the appliance is safe when using it. It is incredibly simple to insert and remove the accessories. I have been quite extremely impressed with how quiet this hand mixer is even when it is on the highest setting. This I find is a great plus point! -------- Overall -------- I have been thrilled with this hand mixer. It does the job effortlessly, it looks smart, and I trust the brand of Kenwood completely from previous appliances I have used. We have just moved into a new flat so I wanted to splash out on some new appliances with Christmas money and this was certainly money well spent.
I have not had a new mascara for some time. I have had No7 mascaras in the past and I have been very happy with all of the ones I have tried. I wondered into Boots to look for Christmas presents and of course I took my eye off of the main goal of my shopping to actually shop for myself. Tut tut. I could not help myself though as No7 had a good offer on with a free gift. In order to get my free gift I had to buy two makeup items, I could have bought just two nail varnishes which would be a very cheap way to get my free gift but I thought I might as well get a couple of things that I actually need and a mascara was one of them. No7 have a vast range of mascaras and in all honesty I think I would have been very happy with whichever one I picked up. I made my choice though from the brush it came with as I like to use a thick brush, not any of the new straight and narrow ones which I find just make my lashes spidery with bits of clumped mascara. So I went for intense volume. I am very lucky that I have very long eye lashes anyway and really they only need some definition with the colour. I nearly chose the brown/black colour as I thought this could give me a more natural look but as I do not really spend too much time on my make-up these days I thought perhaps I could do with the definition that I find that black mascaras give to my eyes. ------------------------- Appearance and Price ------------------------- The mascara comes in a very sleek metallic black colour which in different lights looks brown or purple. It has a brush which is described as having a traditional bristle style, it is how mascaras always used to be before all of the new types came to the surface! Sometimes traditional is best! It comes with 7ml of mascara which seems pretty standard these days. I like to check this as I feel that a lot of companies are extremely harsh to consumers today upping their prices and minimising the quantity you get. Whilst in Boots I checked this amount again Maxfactor which gives 9ml in their main mascaras. Clinique gives either 7 or 8ml in their mascaras. L'Oreal gave 7ml, Rimmel gave 8ml, a Dior one I picked up gave 10ml and so on. So I was happy with 7ml despite that it seemed to be the lowest amount out of most of them as the price was the most reasonable for it at £9.50. I was quite surprised to be honest that No7 still had mascaras under the £10.00 bracket, this also swayed my decision slightly in choosing my mascara as I am trying to save money at the moment and No7 did have mascaras at £11.00 which were instantly ruled out in my books. This mascara comes in three different shades: black, black/brown or navy. I did just want to add here for anybody who does not know the No7 brand well or for somebody who has not seen their advertisement that No7 is a brand exclusive to Boots stores and Boots.com. Due to this it means that Boots have constant promotions on with No7 so the advice I would give is to never purchase anything from No7 unless you are receiving some sort of promotion whether it is a money off coupon, free gift or other offer like 3 for 2. Currently their offer is buy 1 get 1 half price on selected cosmetics (correct on 01/01/14). Another factor I would like to point out for anybody who does not know (as I used to work in Boots) is that the girls on No7 get commission for No7 products they put through the till. I often see people get advice at the No7 till and pop the products into their basket and then wonder off around the store and pay at the main till points. But I think it is nice to pay for the No7 products with the person who gave you the advice on No7 (if you think they were particularly helpful of course) and then they get their commission. ------------------------------------------------------------------- What is special about this mascara and my overall opinion ------------------------------------------------------------------- Well not only is it a hypo-allergenic mascara which means is causes fewer allergic reactions compared to products that are not hypo-allergenic. This does not mean that it will not cause an allergic reaction though because of course it still could. But I have quite sensitive eyes and I have absolutely no problem with No7 mascaras, or other No7 eye make-up for that matter. This mascara is described as building volume whilst perfectly separating the lashes. This is what sounded perfect for me because my long lashes can often become quite clumped together and I need the separation of each lash to make my eyes stand out. The brush is big but not so big that it is hard to apply. It is the perfect size in my opinion. The size of the brush makes the application very easy and it does not need multiple layers. The only downside to the brush is that the end of it holds onto a lot of excess mascara fluid which means that when you want to coat the lashes right in the corner of the eye sometimes the fluid dabs onto my skin in the corner of the eye giving me a big black mark (this can obviously be removed quickly and easily with a wet cotton pad or finger though). I do not do this on every application, only when I am in a rush or not thinking! But this downside can be further prevented by wiping the end off of the mascara wand in the tube to prevent this excess fluid staying on the wand during the application. This mascara is quite wet at first and I do feel it needs to dry before you start fully blinking and moving your eyes after application as otherwise some of the liquid might transfer to the top or bottom of your eye. But this is not a problem as literally within 20 seconds I feel it is dry so it is not a long time to wait still. Something that I love about this mascara is that if you apply it in the morning but you would like to top it up before leaving the house again in the evening you can reapply it without any problems and without having to remove your first layer. It does not clump at all. This mascara certainly gives me excellent volume and length to my lashes and at a great price! I have well curled lashes already (luckily) but I would imagine this mascara probably is not the perfect mascara for somebody who needs adding curl! I would suggest a different No7 mascara which emphasises this more. Another important factor is that it does not smudge or drop around the eye. I had an expensive Clarins mascara which constantly dropped little bits under my eye which was a complete nightmare making my eyes constantly look dark! This No7 mascara does not budge. I have also been out in the terrible wind and rain that we have had recently and it has not budged throughout that either which I was very surprised about because this is not the waterproof version of the mascara that I have. They do a waterproof version for the same price but I do not find that I need that. It is also very easily removed with eye makeup remover. My eye makeup remover is for sensitive eyes as well so it is very gentle but it removes this mascara with no problem whatsoever. I do not need to rub at my eyes at all. The back of the mascara tube states '6M' with a little open lid icon. This means that they suggest that once opened the mascara will last for approximately 6 months. I am so thrilled with this mascara that I will be buying it in the navy shade when I next pop into Boots. --------------------------------------- Who would I recommend this for? --------------------------------------- Somebody who wants a mascara with a traditional brush to lengthen and colour their lashes whilst separating each lash and whilst adding volume. If you are not interested in all of the new weird and I expect wonderful mascara wands out their then go for this traditional one which works wonderfully for a very reasonable price! I think it is excellent value for money! I have tried many mascaras in my time from the premium brands of Estee Lauder, Clinique, Clarins, Lancome and Dior to the more high street brands of L'Oreal and Rimmel, this is my favourite so far!!
Another gorgeous smelling product from Di Palomo, it is for somebody who likes a fresh, light and indulging scent. ----------------------------------- What does this product do? ----------------------------------- This product is described as a hand and a body lotion which gives the impression of a light body lotion if it can be used as a hand lotion as well. However it is described as a rich moisturiser. I personally would not describe it in this way. I would call a body butter a rich moisturiser not this one. But it is certainly moisturising enough for me. I don't like anything that feels sticky or takes a while to sink in. This one sinks in straight away and gives my skin an instant glow, hydration and smoothness. My mum has very dry skin and she has tried this body lotion and she hasn't found it enough for her skin, she had to use a lot of it to feel that it had sank into her skin at all. So for somebody with drier skin I would recommend buying the body butter version of this which is slightly pricier at £15.00 and you get 50ml less but it does contain cocoa butter which this hand and body lotion does not. Many people pop a body cream/or body lotion on after a shower or bath (which I don't), I wouldn't imagine that this is the nicest of feels of body lotion to put on after a bath or shower due to it not containing the cocoa butter. I never really use it as a hand cream as I prefer a hand cream that is just a hand cream, not a body lotion too. I don't know why but I don't feel like they would have the same benefit for my hands, although I am sure they do. ------------- Packaging ------------- This is a good quality plastic pump action bottle. It looks lovely with its extra flower decoration around the pump but it isn't as luxurious looking as some of their other items. I have never had any problems with the pump i.e. it not working or getting stuck. However for it being quite an expensive product I could imagine people feeling let down by the packaging, the less luxurious packaging of it would not put me off buying it again though, so the product inside of the bottle must be worth it for me to be saying that! It does come in a nice looking box though. So it could certainly be given as a nice present. ------ Price ------ This retails at £9.00 for 250ml and I have had this for over 6 months now and it is still going with about a quarter left. However I do not use it every day. I tend to use it just a couple of times a week over my arms and legs. I have the orange blossom perfume too so I tend to use this body lotion more as layering with the perfume to make it longer lasting or if I don't want my perfume to be as strong I use just the body lotion to give me a light scent. It can be purchased on the Di Palomo website or on other websites like feelunique.com where this product retails at £8.10. Or on feelunique.com you can purchase this body lotion as well as the shower gel as a giftset for £14.40 making each slightly cheaper. This would make a lovely present. It can also be purchased in many high street shops, and department stores. Other products in the Orange Blossom range include a reed diffuser, shower gel, body butter, candle (which I have and will review another time), bath nectar, soap, hand cream, dry oil (which I also have), and different gift sets and travel sets. So if you like the fragrance of it they have such an extensive range of products in it. ------------ The Smell ------------ The smell of orange blossom is so feminine and it includes main notes of wild honey and olive. Olive is not a smell I could imagine working but it really does and it is very subtle. The wild honey gives it a warmth and sweetness and the orange blossom gives it a fresh and floral aroma. It is such a delicate yet powerful scent. It almost sounds like I am contradicting myself, but I'm not. I think that all of the ranges of fragrance from Di Palomo are all quite addictive and this one is no exception. This fragrance also contains other additional notes: It has top notes of mandarin and bergamot. Middle notes of jasmine and geranium and base notes of sandalwood, amber and musk. The creators of this fragrance from Di Palomo said their inspiration came from imagining walking through olive and orange groves after a hot day with an evening breeze. I must say that I agree with them entirely! Doesn't it sound wonderful! However although it sounds like a more summery fragrance to it I think that the olive, sandalwood and bergamot give it more depth than just a fresh and floral summer scent allowing it to be used throughout the winter as well. I would say that it is a scent for all ages. The most similar fragrance that I could liken this particular fragrance of the body lotion to is the original Vera Wang fragrance which is often bought as a wedding fragrance. I am not a fan of musk base notes normally, but I don't feel like these are strong in this at all, barely noticeable actually. A funny story is that the brand and fragrances of Di Palomo were created by friends from Torquay in Devon where I grew up. I have wondered whether I have bought the Di Palomo products because of its connection to Torquay. --------- Overall --------- If you prefer a thicker body butter type of body lotion or a thicker body cream then this will not satisfy you as it is quite a light lotion which sinks in instantly which is often not enough for drier skins. It is pricier than your regular body lotion that you can buy in Boots or Superdrug but it does have a gorgeous and addictive fragrance to it and as I use the perfume as they go hand in hand. It is a premium brand and they often have special offers on the website worth taking advantage of so you could get this cheaper than its recommended retail price.
This is one of the highest priced foundations I have ever purchased. I heard lots of good things about it and a friend of mine worked for Dior and she told me how it was the foundation that she sold the most of so I thought it must be good! -------------------------- Price and Packaging -------------------------- It is priced at £32.00 for a 30ml. It has the most luxurious bottle I've ever had for a foundation. But I think that the brand of Dior always has a higher end packaging to its products. I think it must be psychological so as people do not mind spending the amount as the packaging screams expensive! It has a lid that you remove, and it is pump action. I have always hated pump action bottles as I always end up getting more product than is needed so there is a lot wasted. This was no exception, I tend to need about 2 and a half pumps of this foundation, but I have to have 3 pumps, so I waste half a pump every time I apply this foundation. I would hate to think how much that adds up to over the whole bottle! I have managed to get the whole pump out of the foundation in order to use it how I wish without the pump but this got very messy and it is very time consuming. The bottle is made from glass which again looks and feels more expensive than other foundation packaging however the problem here is dropping the foundation. I always drop items of makeup when applying it in the morning as I am always in a rush, but luckily I have only ever dropped this bottle onto carpet so it did not break. I should imagine that for anybody who takes a makeup bag with them to work or out for the day that this isn't the lightest bottle of foundation to carry with it being glass. So although the packaging looks much nicer than some, it isn't the most practical. ------------------------------ Where it can be bought ------------------------------ This can be bought in a number of places such as department stores like Hoopers, House of Fraser, Debenhams etc providing they have a Dior counter, as well as some Boots. There are many places it can be bought online. But the best price seems to be on Escentual website at £27.20. ---------- Shades ---------- There are 10 shades to this foundation at the moment available to the UK. However I have heard that other shades are available outside of the UK. I am the lightest shade which is 010 Ivory. I find it very difficult to find the perfect shade for me as my skin is so pale and as my face can get shiny during the day my foundation seems to get darker but I must admit this is a very good shade for me. I certainly wouldn't have bought this foundation if they didn't have the exact right shade for me as £32.00 is just too much to spend for something which isn't perfect. ------------------------ Type of foundation ------------------------ This is a liquid foundation which is advertised as being extremely long wearing as well it smoothing and evening out the skin tone. It contains SPF25 which I like as I think that it is important to have sun protection (even in a foundation). It is advertised as being for all skin types yet it is still hydrating. I am very much a combination skin and it did last very well during the day on my skin compared to other foundations I have tried. I still needed to pat my t-zone with my powder though. I would agree that it is hydrating as usually on my nose and forehead foundation can clump where I have dry patches and this one did not. However I noticed after not using this foundation for a few weeks that it looked like it had a layer of oil forming at the surface which put me off slightly despite the fact it doesn't cause me to be oily when on. But personally I prefer an oil free foundation. I can imagine for somebody who has an oily skin type that they would find this foundation horrible due to the oil in it. ------- Finish ------- It is described as having a satin finish, this I believe means that it isn't super shiny or super matte. I found the finish was very nice, slightly dewy making me look very healthy. But as mentioned I always put a power over the top which of course changes the end result making it look matte. ------------- Coverage ------------- It gives a medium coverage which is enough for me even with my difficult skin and redness. I think it is a buildable coverage anyway so you could just apply more for it to be heavier. It is also a natural coverage, my face did not looked caked in make-up which is always good! -------------- Application -------------- I always apply my foundation with a foundation brush as well as a sponge. This worked very well with this foundation making it smooth and perfected. It is an easy to blend foundation and it feels extremely smooth and soft on the skin, unlike other foundations I have tried. ----------------------------- Removal of Foundation ----------------------------- I found that I felt like I needed to double cleanse my skin to remove this foundation, this isn't because I think it is ultra thick but perhaps the oil in the foundation adheres to the skin. To be honest I cannot be bothered to double cleanse my skin at night time and this was a factor that caused me to use this foundation less and less. -------------- My Opinion -------------- So it sounds like a pretty good from the review so far. However the price unfortunately is too steep for a foundation that I do not believe is miles better than others on the market at much lower prices. If you have money to waste or to spoil yourself with then by all means pick up a bottle of this foundation and you will not be disappointed. But I do think you could save yourself money with other brands especially as the pump action bottle causes wastage. If they changed their bottle to allow the user to control how much they use (not with a pump action bottle) I might consider buying it again but not at the full price of £32.00, I would certainly look for a bargain online. I have read that this foundation was revamped a year or so ago, so I do have the most up to date version. It apparently includes what is called made-to-measure ingredients. However the description on the Dior website stops there on what these ingredients actually are. Personally I would like these ingredients expanded upon in their description otherwise it sounds like the brand is just trying to say something impressive to get people to buy it without actually telling you what these special ingredients are! This is something that really frustrates me with advertisement of all products! Made-to-measure ingredients sounds to me like ingredients made to fit each person, so perhaps the ingredients once they are on the face become tailored to that specific person's face skin type. But if this was the case surely Dior would have hugely expanded upon telling us this as this would be a revolutionary foundation which I would understand the higher price tag for then. But they didn't so the description in my opinion means very little! Additionally the name of the foundation including 'flawless perfection' is slightly exaggerated, it was a nice foundation when on, but my skin certainly wasn't flawless, I still had imperfections that could be seen through it. --------------- In Summary --------------- A good foundation but not good enough for the price! I would like this to work wonders at £32.00 a bottle!
I purchased this bath syrup a couple of months ago when Di Palomo had an offer on their website. I have had many of their other products and loved them all and this was no exception! I purchased this as I thought it sounded very luxurious being called a bath syrup as opposed to a bubble bath. ------------- Packaging ------------- Firstly the box that this bath syrup comes in is gorgeous and would make a lovely gift to somebody. It is a browny/orange coloured box with black floral leaf illustration on. This matches the bottle too. The bottle is even nicer than the box! It is a frosted glass bottle with a stopper in the top. I love the stopper as I think this is really unusual to see on bottles these days. I will certainly be buying another one of these to give to somebody as a present in the future as it is just gorgeous! So much nicer than the plastic bottle that most bubble baths come in. Also around the top of the stopper is a small tied red flower decoration which is again a lovely finishing touch. The bath syrup is a deep red colour and the front of the bottle says 'seductive' on which the product certainly looks! ------ Price ------ This retails at £12.00 for 300ml which seems to be lasting quite a long time. I have had about 5 baths with it so far and I still have about 1/3 of the bottle left. It can be purchased on the Di Palomo website or on other websites like feelunique.com where this product retails at £10.80. It can also be purchased in many high street shops, and department stores. For example in my area in the south west of Devon I can purchase Di Palomo in Hoopers in Torquay, or China Blue in Totnes amongst other places as well. I however would always suggest to buy this brand on their website when they have an offer on which is quite often. They do many gift sets as well which are perfect for Christmas. --------------- How to Use --------------- The bottle states to pour this under warm, running water to allow the bubbles to form. The texture of the syrup is what it sounds like thicker than normal bubble bath and slightly sticky like syrup which can leave a rim around the bath which needs wiping but I don't mind this. Another slight problem I find is that when pouring it into the bath there seems to be no way of doing this without getting some of the product down the side of the bottle making a bit of a mess. But that I suppose is due to the design of the bottle with the stopper, and I wouldn't want them to change this despite the slight problem with the design. I only tend to use a very small amount (a glug or two) and this creates a bath full of bubbles which last during the bath, but the gorgeous red colour of the syrup doesn't seem to make the bath red sadly. ------------- The Smell ------------- Wild fig and grape is one of the first scents that Di Palomo created. It is absolutely gorgeous. The first time I smelt it I wasn't sure about it as it is quite strong. But then the more I smelt it the more addicted to it I got. I use the hand cream and I absolutely love it. I am not really a fan of the smell of figs but luckily for me I don't find that that is what I smell from it. I can certainly smell the grape. The only way I can describe the smell is if you imagine being in Italy or Spain with the baking sun, and gorgeous aromas of wine and earthiness. It just reminds me of being away somewhere on holiday. This is perfect when lying in the bath and dreaming of being on holiday! It is a completely relaxing scent and even my boyfriend likes it which is a plus! I suppose because it isn't all that feminine a smell. Other ranges in Di Palomo I would say are more feminine than the Fig and Grape. Another plus is that my skin feels very moisturised once I get out of the bath which I find that very few bubble baths do and the scent lingers in the room making the bathroom smell of fig and grape for at least 2-3 hours after the bath. --------- Overall --------- I would highly recommend this product despite a few slight issues with the design of the packaging. The product is a top end product and I don't begrudge paying just under £10.00 for it. The packaging is luxurious, and the bath syrup I would describe as seductive like the packaging says! It would certainly make a wonderful birthday or Christmas present as the packaging is so lovely.
I purchased these on offer in Superdrug for 3 for £3.00 (they normally retail at £1.50). I've noticed the offer still seems to be on. They can be found with all of the travel items in Superdrug which is what tempted me to buy them as they were to take away on a trip to Bristol we went on. However there are 30 pads in a pack so they lasted me much longer than our week away. I thought I better use them up rather than save them for another time away because I have had face wipes in the past that have dried out because they have been opened for too long. I have now finished one pack of these and I have moved over to them permanently (not just for trips) because I have been so impressed with them and the cheap price tag. I have sensitive skin and particularly sensitive eyes and these cause me absolutely no problem, they smell quite fresh, and they are hypoallergenic, and fragrance free. I only need one pad to do both eyes. I wear eye liner, concealer and a long wearing mascara from Estee Lauder and these eye-makeup remover pads take my eye-makeup off incredible easily without needing to rub my eyes. I love making my bedtime skincare routine less bother if I can and these do that! Each pad is white and on one side they are slightly bumpy and on the other side they are smooth. I think the bumpy side is great if you have heavier eye makeup on as it seems to work deeper than the smooth side. The only downside I can see about these which I find is the same for any types of face wipes/pads is that you can never take one out at a time from its packaging, I always end up taking two out and then have to try and get one back into the packaging neatly so as the sticker on top will close. It is slightly annoying and it doesn't matter how careful I am it always happens! But the sticker does stay sticky which is a plus point! Another plus to these eye makeup remover pads is that I use them in the mornings as well to remove the thickness of the harsh line of eye liner once I have applied it to make it look more natural. They are great for this as they are not extremely wet pads so I can carefully remove what I want to without all of it not being removed. I have tried other such eye-makeup remover pads such as Superdrugs own brand as well as the brand called Quickies but these are by far the best. I must admit I wasn't expecting these to be as good as they are.
Normally I either love a product or I don't but not with this one, I'm in two minds but I just know it is not enough for my skin! ---------------------- Price and Amount ---------------------- I purchased this face mask as I had run out of my Clinique Turnaround exfoliating face mask. I wanted to try something new, and something much cheaper! The brand of Simple were on 3 for 2 at the time in Boots so I purchased a couple of other items that I like and have tried before. This item by itself is £3.99 for 75ml which in my opinion is a fantastic price but 75ml is not the largest tube I've seen, other face masks I have had have been 100ml. So for price and amount I give this face mask 8/10. What I like about Simple is that I know I have no problems with their products on my skin. I love that they have no artificial perfumes or colours within their products and that they are great for sensitive skins like mine. ------------------------------------------ Tube/Packaging and Instructions ------------------------------------------ I like the tube that this face mask comes in, it is very easy to squeeze out the desired amount. However the instructions on its use is very limited on the packaging. It almost seems like the tube should have come in a box which had an instructions manual with it, but it didn't. The tube states to apply it onto thoroughly cleansed skin and to leave on for 3 minutes and then rinse off with water. However I like to know whether you are supposed to put on a generous layer of it or just a thin layer of it. So I have used it according to what feels right to me and that is putting enough on so I can see it otherwise I don't feel like I have enough on for it to do its job. I don't use a face mask everyday just one a week (if I remember and have time) so I like to really feel like I have had the face mask on! So based on the ease of the tube/packaging and instructions I give the face mask 7/10 (it has lost marks for its poor instructions). ------------------------------------------------------ What Is This Face Mask Doing For My Skin? ------------------------------------------------------ It is apparently deep cleansing which involves drawing impurities out of the skin, cleansing, and helping to eliminate dead skin cells. The ingredients used for this include natural clay, seaweed extract and bisabolol (which sounds very interesting!) Well firstly natural clay is used in many face masks. It firstly conditions and nourishes the skin, and it extracts excess oil as well as impurities from the surface of the skin. Natural clay has also been described as giving the skin a natural glow. The face mask does have an iridescent look to it, perhaps the natural clay helps to create this. I did certainly notice that my skin looked slightly brighter after using the mask. The second main ingredient of seaweed extract I have had in other face masks like when I tried the BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask from Lush. I have also tried seaweed in a Body Shop face mask. So it is obviously a popular ingredient in face masks. Seaweed supposedly helps to clarify the skin as well as refresh the skin and draw out impurities. I would suggest that it is perhaps this ingredient that makes the face mask very cold when putting it on. I do like the coldness of it as it makes it feel more like you are putting on a fresh face mask. The last main ingredient of the face mask of bisabolol is a new ingredient to me, I have not heard of it in anything else I have tried before. Having read up on this ingredient it is a main component of an essential oil from the chamomile plant. It helps to reduce flaking on a dry skin, and restore suppleness. Some important factors of this ingredient is that it is anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory (great for redness or spots), and it is a non-allergen. I would say from my use of the mask that I did notice that the flakiness around my nose was reduced after using it. So hearing how great these ingredients sound I would give the ingredients of the face mask 7/10 (this is because they sound good, but yet they are not ingredients which suggest anything super fantastic over ingredients used in other face masks). -------------------------------------- The Effects of the Ingredients -------------------------------------- So overall the ingredients sound great and yes I did notice the effects of some of these. I noticed that my skin felt refreshed and soft after use. I also felt that it looked a little bit brighter and it prevented flakiness around my nose. But I did not notice any substantial results that are worth raving about sadly. It didn't seem to prevent oiliness in my t-zone and my skin didn't feel ultra revived after using it. I also have quite visible blackheads around my nose (and despite being realistic and knowing that a face mask doesn't just get rid of these) I didn't feel like it drew impurities out from my skin in order to help these. I think a face mask needs to be on for much longer or have some sort of exfoliating element to help this. I do not think that such a face mask can be called deep cleansing when it doesn't seem to be in the slightest. I also have some redness from spots and it didn't alleviate this in the slightest. But I did feel the face mask did more when I used my muslin cloth to take it off. But that is the benefits of the muslin cloth helping to exfoliate the skin, not the face mask. So based on the effects of the results I would rate the face mask 6/10. ------------------ My Experience ------------------ The face mask when squeezed out of the tube is very iridescent. It is not particularly thick and once blended it goes very thin very quickly. It went onto my skin very easily and it blended over my face nicely. After 3 minutes I removed it (as the instructions stated), it came off relatively easily with warm water, but I have ended up now using my muslin cloth as I think this takes it off more thoroughly and this helps to mildly exfoliate the skin too. But I have not been blown away by the effects of this mask. The Clinique Turnaround Facial Mask I used to use I really felt did something for my skin, I could see improvements with my skin whilst using it. My skin looked brighter, it completely reduced any flakiness or dry patches on the skin and it made my skin look and feel clarified. However this facial mask was suggested to act like microdermabrasion (a technology that helps to buff away the surface layer of the skin) so it did do much more than a standard face mask. But I just don't feel that this mask being on for just three minutes can be doing a lot for the skin. I haven't noticed any dramatic changes in my skin like I did with the Clinique mask. Perhaps I am asking too much from a £3.99 face mask which is for sensitive skins. I do usually love the face mask experience, popping it on and relaxing for more than ten minutes with it on. Whereas having this face mask on for just three minutes means it is barely worth me going to relax with it on as by the time I have sat down it is time to get up again to remove it. So no it is not a relaxing experience having this face mask on. So based on the face mask experience I would have to give this face mask 3/10 (I give it 3 because like I said earlier I do like the cold fresh feel of it which is worth something). --------- Overall --------- Perhaps I am too used to face masks from premium brands like Clinique which are expensive which I seem to get great results from suggesting the money is well spent. Whereas with this face mask it is incredibly cheap at £3.99 and it gives some results, but as I said nothing mind blowing. Perhaps I should be satisfied with that but as I like my face mask experience which I do not find that this face mask gives I will from now on try a face mask from Lush again (as I remember fond memories of those). I do think in some respects that this face mask is falsely advertised when it called a deep cleaning face mask. It certainly isn't deep cleansing. Perhaps as the face mask and brand of Simple is for sensitive skins it can only go so far to be deep cleansing without being an irritant for sensitive skins. However it shouldn't be called a deep cleansing mask then as this does not compare in the slightest to other so called deep cleansing masks I have used. I would recommend this mask to somebody who just wants a quick-fix and refreshing mask to give them soft skin and for somebody who doesn't have the time to spend leaving on a 10-15 minute mask. Plus at £3.99 you are not breaking the bank, especially if you use other products from Simple and if you can benefit from buying face mask in a 3 for 2 offer. Perhaps another suggestion for this mask is for a teenager's skin who doesn't have any problems with spots, just to refresh the skin and do slightly more than a regular cleanser. But certainly for somebody past teenage years I do not think that this face mask does enough sadly. So rating this face mask on every aspect it would be 5/10. I will not be buying it again. It should teach me not to get sucked into 3 for 2 offers and pick up something that is on the spur of the moment. I am sure that there is a mid way face mask though between this one and the Clinique one I tried. It is just trying to find it, or sticking to the face masks from Lush.
This is another Neal's Yard Remedies product which I absolutely love. It is a chamomile cleanser; it is super calming, soft and moisturising. It is a very creamy cleanser but it is absolutely fine for my combination skin. It states that it is for normal skin which I always take to suggest they mean combination skin. But I think it is fine for all skin types to be honest. Again like all of Neal's Yard products they are organic and natural. It says on the side of most of the skincare how organic a product is which is nice to see. This product is shown to be 57% organic. ----------------- Pot or Tube? ----------------- I bought this back in April and it came in a pot which I must admit for a cleanser is a little bit frustrating, but I have noticed on the Neal's Yard Remedies website that they have now changed it into a tube. My only concern with this is that it is a thick cleanser so I can imagine it would be a little challenging to get it out of the tube (but I may be wrong). It still seems like a better option though in the tube. You could look at this pot of cleanser and mistake it for moisturiser because it is so thick and creamy. This is why it is so wonderfully moisturising but without being greasy because it actually has quite a light silky feel to it. My skin feels exceptionally soft after using it which I have not had from other cleansers like Clinique's facial wash or their rinse off foaming cleanser. ---------------------------------------------- What is special about this cleanser? ---------------------------------------------- The cleanser not only cleans the skin but it also calms upset or sensitive skin as well as removing make-up easily and quickly. Another fantastic plus about this cleanser is that it can also be used on the eyes to remove eye-makeup, I have tried it and it does work and it is very gentle and it does not sting, it even got rid of my long wearing Double Wear mascara from Estee Lauder which I was amazed at. You could massage it into the lashes to remove eye makeup (how I tried) or alternatively damp a cotton pad and then put the tiniest bit of the cleanser on that and wipe the eyes gently with that which I would imagine is a more thorough way of removing eye make-up. But I personally prefer not to use it on my eyes. The smell of this cleanser is very relaxing which is great before getting into bed, its main ingredients are coconut, chamomile, sunflower oil and moisturising shea. I personally cannot smell the coconut in it but I can definitely smell the chamomile and shea. The coconut moisturises dry, itchy or sensitive skin. Its antioxidant properties also help to fight premature ageing. Chamomile has many skin benefits such as it being a natural acne treatment through working to eliminate acne scarring, and it is packed full of antioxidants which help to fight breakouts. Chamomile also helps skin irritations and sunburn and protects the skin from free radicals which can lead to ageing. The sunflower oil is rich in fatty acids, vitamins and protecting antioxidants. Lastly shea helps to prevent and protect even the most chronically dry skins, it penetrates the skin quickly to provide immediate hydration, and helps to alleviate any discomfort in the skin. So overall the ingredients in this cleanser do many different things and despite the cleanser saying it is for a normal skin I think it would be fine for somebody with a drier skin, a combination skin, a sensitive skin or acne prone skin because of the ingredients in it. My skin can still be temperamental for spots still and it is fine with this cleanser. ------------------------------------ My recommendations for use ------------------------------------ I would recommend for anybody using this cleanser to get the muslin facial cloth. This not only helps to take it off the face, but it also provides a light exfoliation when removing the cleanser. It also helps to remove any further make-up which washing your face with your hands struggles to do. Only about 2 x pea sizes of this cleanser is needed. I do not feel that 1 x pea size is enough (which the pot recommends) as it is so creamy that to get that luxurious feel a little more is needed. It can be massaged into a wet face and then removed with water with the hands or with a wet muslin cloth. I would further recommend that you massage the cleanser in a circular motion, the smell of the cleanser is wonderful! It is also suggested that the cleanser can be put on after spritzing your face with toner which is quite nice rather than wetting your face. However it must be rinsed off with water to fully get rid of the cleanser and makeup from your face. I have just recently moved house, and in my last house we had instant hot water so I could remove this cleanser with very warm water which was lovely. However in our new place it takes forever for hot water to come through and I can never be bothered to wait so I wash the cleanser off with cold water which makes it a bit of a chore actually as it is so unpleasant when it is cold in the house to wash your face with cold water too. However it is great for the mornings though as it wakes me up but I do not look forward to washing my face at night with cold water. ------ Price ------ The pot and tube gives 100g of cleanser. It is £15.50. I do think this is quite steep for a cleanser but it does last a long time and it smells amazing! Plus if you wanted to have an all in one bedtime routine you can remove your eye makeup with it too (saving on the cost of an eye makeup remover). So perhaps taking that into account it isn't a ridiculously priced cleanser. A tube of Clinique cleanser is now £17.00. I always compare to Clinique as I think that is one of the cheaper premium brands that you find on the skincare counters compared to brands like Dior, Lancome, Clarins, Estee Lauder and other brands. ---------------- Other points ---------------- I have been impressed with this cleanser. It is super moisturising, gentle and leaves my skin feeling so ultra soft. The smell is very calming and it does what it says, you couldn't ask for much more!! This cleanser paired with my Neal's Yard Remedies Vitamin E and Avocado Cream (moisturiser) is a match made in heaven. I use a Clarins toner in between those two points as I love the smell of it compared to the Neal's Yard Remedies toners. ---------------- To conclude --------------- Overall this is a great all-in-one cleanser. It is calming, moisturising, softening and thoroughly removes make-up. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who gets particularly dry, irritated or chapped skin during the winter because of how comforting it is. Despite my negatives on the packaging I still rate this product with five stars as I now know they have produced it in a tube to account for the problems with a pot. (Please note the photograph on Dooyoo is not of the newest packaging).
So I still love my beauty products. I sadly do not have so much money to spend out on them these days (being a student) but I did treat myself to this very luxurious night moisturiser. Neal's Yard Remedies is a brand I absolutely love, they are organic and natural. They contain no mineral oils, parabens, synthetic fragrances or colours as well as no silicones. So it sounds good already! Well this is a Vitamin E and Avocado Night Moisturising Cream. It deeply nourishes the skin and to my amazement is for all skin types. I say this because rarely are moisturises for all skin types these days and it is quite a thick cream so I thought my combination skin might freak out from it. But no my skin loves it! I know this because my skin feels very smooth, hydrated and above all I haven't had any horrible break outs since using it which is a big plus for me. I also have a very sensitive skin and I have absolutely no problems or irritations from this problem. ----------------------------- Benefits of Ingredients ----------------------------- So what interests me is what the two main ingredients do for skin: Vitamin E: The first thing to know is that it is supposed to be great for skin conditions, scarring and decreasing the signs of ageing because it is a great anti imflammatory. It does this through preventing environmental damage to skin and it can help to protect against UV rays. It is of course a fantastic moisturising agent which is why it is often found in hand creams and in other moisturisers. A last point on Vitamin E is how well known it is for being easily absorbed into the skin and not leaving a horrible greasy residue like some thick moisturisers do. Now onto the skin benefits of avocado: Avocado oil is known to give good benefits to the skin which is why it is often used in face masks. Avocado oil is great for dry skin or skin suffering from conditions like dermatitis. Avocado also contains lots of vitamins which all have their advantages such as vitamin A which helps to soften the skin and help to restore youthfulness through giving a nice healthy glow. So it all sounds great to me!! The moisturiser also contains wheatgerm, almond, and other herbal extracts. When I first picked up a tester pot of this moisturiser in the shop I thought that the avocado might be overpowering but I was pleasantly surprised. The cream smells fresh and earthy and green (if that is a descriptive word). ------ Price ------ Now to the price point, it isn't the cheapest cream on the market but it isn't ridiculous either: £21.00 for a 50g pot. The Neal's Yard Remedie's pots look lovely with their large logo on the top and I find it an easy pot to get the product out of. (Please note the photograph on here is not an up to date one). I love the smell of it as I open the lid. This moisturiser can be bought on the Neal's Yard Remedies Website, or from a Neal's Yard Remedies consultant, or from their shop. Some other places sell it like a department store called Hoopers near to me. I think this could be used as a day cream as well, I have used it during the day. It seems strange that vitamin E is known for protecting against UV rays yet it is put into a night time moisturiser. As I mentioned it is not a greasy moisturiser despite how thick it feels and it didn't seem to make my makeup slide off during the day either or look shiny which was great! I have tried many so called mattifying moisturisers in the past which are very much the opposite so this moisturiser is an absolute winner for me. I do not mind paying around £20.00 for something that works for me! Especially as I feel that this moisturiser will last a very long time. I've had it for over 4 weeks now and it barely looks like it has been touched. I think this is partially because it is a thick cream and so a little goes a long way. An additional plus point is that my boyfriend loves it, I often put it on him at night, I think males should look after their skin like females. But I do control how much goes onto his face! (I won't allow him to be smothering it all over his face and neck uncontrollably as it isn't a £5.00 moisturiser!) ------------------------- My Mum's View Too ------------------------- I can also comment on this moisturiser on behalf of somebody who has dry skin = my mum. She bought this two weeks ago after I was raving about it. She has excessively dry and dehydrated skin and she finds it hard to find a moisturiser that makes her feel like she has put any moisturiser on. Her view is that it is great, despite it being easily absorbed it feels like her skin has been moisturised and she loves the smell of it and finds it helps her drift off to sleep. So on that note I think this moisturiser is great for all skin types. -------------- Conclusion -------------- I understand that this isn't the cheapest moisturiser but I must say that it does what it says on the pot which many moisturisers do not seem to do. I would highly recommend this moisturiser for somebody with combination skin who does not want a greasy t-zone but who also wants their cheeks and forehead to be well moisturised. I could not rate this highly enough and I will certainly be adding a few pots to my Christmas list!
------------ What is it? ------------ This is not your regular lipstick from Clarins or from any brand for that matter. It is very unique and I have never seen one like this before. It is a lip balm, lipstick and lip shine in one. It has the lipstick in the middle and the lip balm surrounding it. ------------------------------------ What colours do they come in? ------------------------------------ They come in a purple which looks quite scary but I can imagine it would look nice. There is also a light candy pink, a bright coral and a deep red. The colours are actually called Crystal Lilac, Crystal Pink, Crystal Coral and Crystal Red. I have the coral one. ----------------------------------------- Where to purchase and their price... ----------------------------------------- They were a summer limited edition but they are still widely available online such as on http://www.lifeandlooks.com where I purchased mine. It cost me £13.20 and this website also provides free postage for Clarins items as well as free gift when you purchase two or more items. One tip if you would like specific items in your free gift then contact them via email to find out what freebies they have in stock and you can choose which ones you have. Otherwise they send you a random selection. You usually receive 4 or 5 largish trial size samples such as 15 or 30mls. It is also available on the Clarins website http://www.clarins.co.uk for £16.50 though. What is so unique about it is that not only is it a lipstick and lipbalm but it also gives your lips a light glossed appearance which is very pretty for in the summer. I was expecting it to give just a subtle colour but it can actually give quite a bright colour. They are 3.5g in size which I expect will last me a very long time, it does not look like my lipstick has gone down much and I have been wearing it solidly for the last month or so. Clarins have produced this in previous years as a limited edition too but I think they differed just slightly. They have probably updated the formula in it and the colours. ------------ Packaging ------------ The packaging is so gorgeous and summery. It is in the same shape lipstick container as all of the Clarins lipsticks it is slightly oval shaped. It is silver in colour but has the colour of the lipstick surrounding the bottom and middle of the lipstick case. It is such a unique looking lipstick and whenever I get it out to put it on in front of friends they always want to have a look at it. ----------------- How to use it... ----------------- If you would like it to be quite subtle just lightly rub it on the lips but if you would like the deeper colour for example a deep coral in my respect then rub it a bit more heavily on the lips and then the colour in the middle comes through. --------------------------------- The one and only downside... --------------------------------- The one downside to this lipstick is if you would like the deeper colour it does not come onto the lips evenly all over. It comes out a little bit all over the place with more colour in some areas than others. So I would recommend then getting a lip brush or your finger and evening it out yourself then it is gorgeous! --------------------- But why I love it... --------------------- I love having the comfort of a lipbalm but the colour of a lipstick in one. It is so unique and when other brands have tried to do something similar it has never worked in my opinion if they have the balm and lipstick/shine separate but in one so to speak. The reasoning apparently for Clarins managing to create this unique lip product is due to lipstick waxes that have unique gelled oils which gives it the very unique look as well. Additionally Clarins have added to it ingredients from their Instant Smooth lip range which is a range that gives your lips a very subtle natural look and smoothed and moisturised feel. I have a coral lip-liner from Clarins which works perfectly with this lipstick and defines my lips more when wearing it. They are quite long wearing when not eating or drinking I'd say it lasts 4-5 hours then. But if eating and drinking it only lasts about 2 hours. I think this is quite good for a lipstick that is so moisturising. My lips become flaky very easily probably through dehydration I never drink enough water so this is a great product to keep my lips moisturised and hydrated but also providing me with a lipstick colour and a gloss/sheen appearance. When I say gloss though I mean just a light sheen not a sticky or tacky look. It certainly does not feel like gloss when on, it feels like a very moisturising lipstick with a shine. ------------------------------------------ Would I recommend you trying one? ------------------------------------------ Certainly ... I am very tempted myself to look into buying one of the other colours!
I have just started using the Clarins Daily Energizer range (or have been for the last month). I found the range when browing through the Clarins website and I realised how reasonable in price this range was and it sounded lovely. After some hunting around on the internet I found a website called http://www.salonskincare.co.uk that stocked the range and they also had a free gift if I purchased two Clarins face items. Out of the free gifts I could choose from one of which was miniatures of the Clarins Energizer range in a cosmetics bag which I thought would be perfect for an overnight stay somewhere so of course I had to purchase the range there and then! On this website the products were slightly cheaper than the retail price as well and if you go via the cashback website called Quidco before purchasing the products it gives you 6% cashback. Every little helps! ------ Price ------ From the Clarins counter in stores or online it costs £15.50 for 125ml (there is only one size) which is smaller than the regular 200ml toners or it is £13.95 on the website http://www.salonskincare.co.uk. It can also be bought of numerous other websites and from department stores like Debenhams, House of Fraser and from Boots stores (providing they have a Clarins counter). -------------------------------------------------------------------- Instructions on the Clarins Daily Energizer Wake-Up Booster -------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok so it is called a wake-up booster which instantly suggests that it is used in the mornings to wake yourself up - well it certainly does it. The instructions state to either put it on your hands or on a cotton ball and gently tap it on the face. I loved the idea of this and I am pleased to say the novelty of it has not worn off yet and it does wake me up! It smells so refreshing and gorgeous that it gives me an instant lift. Very little is needed on the hands or on a cotton ball and I would definitely recommend the cotton ball over the hands because I always seem to lose a lot of the product putting it on my hands and it gets a bit messy! So this product is to be used after cleansing and then to follow it afterwards with a daily moisturizer and of course the other parts of the range are available: the Daily Energizer Cleansing Gel at £11.00 off of the Clarins website and the Daily Energizer moisturizers in different consistencies depending on your skin type and preference which are £20.00 off of the Clarins website. The whole range smells delightful and it really makes me enjoy using the range. Usually cleansing is a chore for me despite the fact that I love buying the products. This used to be because the products I used to use were fragrance free and they were quite boring to use. Whereas Clarins plant extracts make the products smell lovely without being overpowering or smelling fake. The Daily Energizer Wake- Up Booster contains green coffee to revitalise and wake the skin up, redcurrent to moisturize the skin and white tea extract to protect the skin from environmental damage and pollution. It does this through protecting against free radicals. Free radicals are unstable atoms in cells which work like dominoes to make further cell's atoms unstable which causes cells to die and this further causes the breakdown of the skin's structure. This sounds scary I know but it happens over a long period of time. But yes the white tea extract works to protect the skin from free radicals. Like the other products in the range this product smells of a mixture of peach and orange blossom, it is just so intoxicating! I can smell it even when I am applying my makeup which is a good 20 minutes after cleansing, toning and moisturizing my skin. Now the question you might be asking yourself as I did: can this be used at night time if it is a wake-up booster? Well the instructions state to apply prior to your daily moisturizer which would suggest not. However I do not see any harm in using it at night time as a regular toner and applying it cotton wool but rather than tapping the skin to wake it just gently sweep it. I have used it at night but I more regularly at night time rather than using this product exchange it for the Clinique Clarifying Lotion at night-time. So I still use the Clarins Daily Energizer Cleanser and Moisturizer at night but just with the clarifying lotion in the middle. This is because I have quite oily and problematic (spotty) skin so I find use the clarifying lotion once a day helps to keep the spots at bay. However this range by Clarins is supposed to prevent imperfections too as well as helping to restore that gorgeous healthy glow which this range certainly does! ----------------- The Packaging ----------------- It comes in a see-through plastic bottle with a screw on white cap. The bottle despite being plastic looks very nice with the orange coloured product coming through. I absolutely love the packaging and I think that the products look lovely stood together in my bathroom. --------- Overall --------- This is a fab range and it is aimed at somebody in their late teens or twenties. I enjoy using the range and Clarins have been very clever in the way they have produced these products. I do not believe that any other brand does such a nice range for that age group and the fact that it does not concentrate on mattifying the skin completely like many other products for younger skin. Rather it works to revitalise the skin and give skin the youthful glow it should have at that age! Unfortunately my skin never has that youthful glow alone due to constant stress and tiredness so it is nice that this range puts the glow back into my skin!
I have just been recently finding that I am getting very bored of the products I have been using. I was looking at the Clarins website and thought that the Clarins Daily Energizer range was very reasonable in price. A few weeks ago I found on a website called http://www.salonskincare.co.uk and they had a free gift if I purchased two Clarins face items. I could choose from a few different free gifts - one of which was miniatures of the Clarins Daily Energizer range which was great for taking on holiday so it was a no brainer I had to buy them. On this website the products were slightly cheaper than the retail price as well and there being 6% cashback with Quidco and the website gives you so many points for what you buy which racks up to money off your next purchase. ------ Price ------ From the Clarins counter in stores or online it costs £20.00 or it is £17.95 the website http://www.salonskincare.co.uk. I think this is more price friendly than a lot of other premium brand moisturisers however, it is only a 30ml whereas a lot of other brands have day creams in 50ml. -------------------- Different Versions -------------------- Clarins have three different versions of this moisturizer and all of which claim to be for all skin types: The first is the Clarins Daily Energizer Cream which comes in a pot rather than a pump action bottle. It is the richest of the three versions so for me I personally would not pick this one because I have quite an oily skin. Despite it saying that it is for all skin types. The second is the Clarins Daily Energizer Cream - Gel which also comes in a pot rather than a pump action bottle. This one I have purchased to use as my night moisturizer - I prefer a slightly richer night moisturizer to my day moisturizer - it feels light but very moisturising and again it is for all skin types. However I personally do not think that this would be enough for a drier skin. The third is the Clarins Daily Energizer Lotion with SPF15. It is in a pump action bottle. Due to the product having SPF in I use it as a day moisturizer however it does not state that it has to be a day moisturizer. None of the versions state whether they are day or night so you could have one for both or mix and match like I do. I think what Clarins have done with this is very clever because you can choose the best textures of moisturizers to best suit you. The lotion is the lightest out of the three and for me having a very oily skin it is a perfect day moisturiser because it sinks in fast for me to put my make-up on over. However I still believe that it would suit all other skin types like it says because it is still very hydrating, it is not a gel lotion, it is a medium consistency moisturizing lotion. Additionally I am very conscious of UVA/UVB rays with ageing, I have watched my parents sit in the sun with no sun cream on at all and sizzle. And they have both unfortunately suffered from it with their wrinkles and age spots. Luckily it has taught me to be a lot more sensible. So I like that this lotion has a sun protection factor in. The lotion is the only one which specifically says it is oil-free whereas the other two moisturizers say they are non-oily which suggests to me that they do contain oil but that they do not give an oily residue. ------------------------------------- The Clarins Daily Energizer Lotion ------------------------------------- The first thing I noticed when I used this like the rest of the products in the range is how gorgeous it smells. It reminds me of orange blossom - it smells so fresh and like the name is called it is energizing! I can still smell the lotion whilst applying the rest of my make-up. The smell must be the result of the mixture of plant-extracts in the lotion. From the moment I put the lotion on it gives my skin a wonderful glow and even when make-up is put over the top it still glows and looks really healthy. The healthy glow is due to the ingredient ginkgo biloba which works to stimulate the cells in the skin to circulate producing healthier looking skin. I do suffer with spots and I have not found that the lotion or any of the other products in this range have helped reduce them however I have found that it has not made them any worse. But it does state that it helps to reduce imperfections so perhaps over time it will do, but it has not in a month of continuous use. It apparently contains Vitamin C and a mixture of plant extracts to help reduce the look of imperfections. It gives a matte look but it also gives that luminous look as well which makes such a beautiful combination. I have always had problems with my skin - trying to get the right balance because although it is very oil it is also very flaky in areas which I believe is due to dehydration. So I have always tried a mixture of moisturizers and serums. But with this lotion I do not require anything else because it gives me the perfect balance which makes my beauty regime a lot quicker in the morning (which pleases my boyfriend who hates watching me get ready in the mornings). The apparent plant extract that makes this product unique is called alchemilla. It works to slow down the melanin transfer to the surface of the skin which will in turn work to prevent age spots in the future. ---------------- The packaging ---------------- I love the packaging. The fact that the products in this range are slightly smaller than regular sized products means that they are handy to take travelling or for a weekend stay somewhere. However the miniatures that I got in my free gift were even handier! The pump action bottle I much prefer to a pot of moisturizer. However I would say I need about 2 and a half pumps every morning, and it is very difficult to get half a pump out, it just wants to pump a full pump each time. However it is not the biggest complaint! The bottle is a frosted orange with a white pump and lid - it looks lovely in my bathroom with the rest of the range in orange. The product seems to be lasting me a long time as well despite it being a 30ml. ------------------------------------- The Other Products in the Range ------------------------------------- Clarins Daily Energizer Cleanser (to remove make-up) and Wake-Up Lotion (like a toner). I will review these products at another time. -------- Overall -------- I have absolutely fallen in love with this range and the lotion is just perfect for me! The range is aimed at the younger generation typically somebody who is just starting to use skincare or somebody in their 20s. The lotion is perfect for me and I know that the gorgeous smell of the range will prevent me from getting bored in the future and experimenting with other skincare products! I additionally feel that due to suffering with spots that my skin had lost that radiant glow that younger people tend to have with their skin, so I now have that radiance back!
This was an item that I pinched from my mum's load of bits in her bathroom. She must have had it for over a year and she had not used it up so I thought someone might as well! I have only just noticed in the last year how my heels and feet require a lot more care than they used to. I came back from a trip to London and the soles of my feet had been burning with all the walking I had done as well my shoes rubbing on my toes. So my feet needed a really good pamper. I also noticed that the soles of my feet were getting quite rough. This cracked heel repair is by Boots own brand and it says on the front of the tube 'visible results in just 3 days.' Well that does sound pretty good but I would not agree entirely. Yes my feet were smoother after 3 days but they would be with anything if I had suddenly gone from not moisturising my feet at night time to suddenly moisturising them every night. But I would say it took about 2 weeks for me to see that my heels were not as cracked but I also used a foot file which I think helped a lot. I think it was necessary to use both the cream and the foot file together to see the best results. It also claims to make the skin on your feet 4 times thicker which again is not something that I have noticed but I am unsure how you would notice this really. I have applied the cream all over my feet not just on my heels, this is because it claims to be intensely moisturising which the whole of my feet needed not just my heels. The crack heel repair in this particular tube is no longer sold by Boots online but it is still sold in my local Boots store. But it looks like there is a slightly new and revamped version of it called Boots Gorgeous Feet Rapid Cracked Heel Repair. From what I have read about it, it seems like exactly the same product but just in a slightly newer packaging which is why I carried on with writing this review because it still seems like the same product inside of the tube. It is a 100ml tube which cost £4.99. I have used it continuously for about 2 months now and I am nearly at the end of the tube. For some reason which I cannot explain I am not a particular fan of the smell of this product even though other reviews seem to rave about the smell. It smells very strongly of shea butter which was an issue I had with a similar foot cream from Avon which I bought to use with the socks which you can wear overnight to intensively moisturising your feet after putting on the foot cream. So for that reason I would not purchase this foot cream again. But since using the cracked heel repair I am now in the routine of looking after my feet so I am on the look out for a new foot cream. If this was fragrance free or had a different smell I would repurchase it because it is intensively moisturising and rich, and my Avon foot balm is not a patch on how moisturising this product is. It gains 3 out of 5 stars from me: it loses 1 star for its smell and the other star for me feeling that its claim of 'visible results in just 3 days' not keeping its promise.
