Like alot of the books I read, this one was being read by a friend and just reading the first couple of pages got me hooked. It is written with no punctuation and lack of quotation marks. This gives the book a confusing writing style however is easily picked up after the first few pages. It is an excellent book based the authors own life (however a little exaggered) about the trials and tribulations of James who is an alcoholic and crack addict. He wakes up on a plane with no recollection of how or why he's on it. His parents take over the situation and send him to rehab. The book follows James' battle with his addictions while in a rehab clinic leading to his eventual release from the clinic and his anticipation of his family's reactions to his lifestyle of the previous years. Relationships James makes during his time in rehab play a vital part in his life and consequent recovery. Leonard is James' rock throughout this book and is followed up in his next book 'My friend Leonard'. This book is unique and I have encouraged many others to try it too and have all loved it. I couldn't put it down and I'm sure you'll feel the same!
I deliberated for months as to which TV would be best for me to buy. I came across this one in Currys and it appeared to be a reasonable price. I looked up a few reviews and decided to buy it. I'm not the best when it comes to setting up technical things but it was so easy to set up I surprised myself. The picture is fantastic, after a little adjustment, and when HD is played through it the piture is so crisp. Playing games and DVD's through the gaming system maintain an outstanding quality picture. Sound comes from invisible speakers and is excellent and the system allows you to change the sound, such as bass/ treble depending on personal preference. As you turn the volume up the sound remains crisp and clear unlike other TV's I've had in the past. There are many little additional settings that I just love about this TV like changing to sports or cinema settings. There are also numerous connections in the back of the TV such as HDMI and SCART along with AV1, AV2 and AV3, HDMI1 and HDMI2. All connections can be named depending on the appliance such as DVD, Blu-Ray, Satellite and game. Excellent TV!
For years I've thought that I need to purchase an external hard drive to safey store all my music and hundreds of pictures taken over the years and for the easy transfer of files as I do alot of travelling around the country, but have never known which one, how big it needed to be or which brand would be best. A member of my family purchased a Western Digital hard drive a number of years ago however I felt it was too chunky for easy transport. While I was looking for the best hard drive for me this one stood out from the rest due to its size. It fits in the palm of your hand and is small enough to fit in my handbag! There is no power source required and connects easily to the computer through a USB cable, however this is the only disadvantage I have found as the cable is quite short. I am extremely pleased with this little hard drive and would recommend it to anyone.
I often find myself nosying through my friends book collections and pinching the ones that interest me. The Gurnsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society struck me as the title was so unusual. I questioned my friends choice of book and she recommended a read. I wasn't particularly enthrawled with the thought of this book, however it was definately worth a read. I love that the story is written through letters and telegraphs that bounce between the different characters involved in the book. The author manages to describe each character in such a way that you are really able to imagine their individual personalities. I did find it took me quite a long time to read as it doesn't quite flow like other books do, however the characters draw you in with their quirky personas and the story allows your imagination to place yourself in the characters situations. I didnt't want the story to end towards finishing the book and wished it had gone on slightly longer as I feel it finshed slightly abruptly. A very enjoyable read!
My friend got this book for her birthday and I started to read the first couple of pages and was hooked! I went out and bought it straight away and having just finished it, it is now one of my favourite books. The story is written on the same date of every year representing Emma and Dexters graduation day, the day the couple met, exploring their different paths through life while remaining close friends, and is written in a style that is so easy to read and you find your imagination running away with you drawing you into the story more and more. It is such a page turner that I found myself reading it wherever and whenever I could. With a sad ending to this fantastic story of a couple clearly in love it remains a truly brilliant page turner and one that I have already been recommending to everyone!
