      Wouldnt recommend!

I decided to try these chicken kievs in tesco when they were on offer 2 packs for £3. They had other products in this offer such as escolopes and southern fried chicken. I bought cheese and ham chicken kievs, and garlic kievs.

I wish i hadnt bought two packs of these, as they were awful! I love chicken kievs, and i am not fussy about eating cheap meat. I wouldnt try value meat, but supermarkets own brand like these kievs are usually alright. I have even tried cheap chicken kievs, 2 for £1 in iceland, and even they were miles better than these.

These chicken kievs, are chicken breasts covered in breast crumbs filled with a cheese and ham sauce. They come in a pack of two kievs, which is perfect for just me and my boyfriend, a cheap meal we thought.

The chicken didnt taste like normal chicken breasts, you could tell it was processed meat. The packets says it is chopped and shaped chicken breast with added water.

The cheese taste is not very strong and there was only about 2 pieces of ham in each kiev, it hardly had any taste at all. It was just like eating a chicken breast with breadcrumbs, with a bland sauce in the middle.

The bottom of the kiev had gone all soggy and greasy which was disgusting! But at least the sauce hadnt leaked out all over the oven tray, the sauce stayed in the kiev even though i cooked it longer than you should. Other kievs i have tried even though they taste a lot nicer, i always find the sauce leaks out.

To cook these chicken kievs, all you do is place them on a baking tray in the centre of a pre heated oven at 200 degrees for 22-25 minutes. If they are frozen you need to cook them for 30-35 minutes. You need to make sure they are piping hot before eating them.

Although chicken kievs are easy enough to just put in the oven if you dont want to bother cooking, you need to watch these near to the end to make sure the sauce doesnt start leaking out. I also tend to have to leave them about another 10 minutes than the recommended time as they are never piping hot.

These kievs are quite high in calories, probably due to the cheese, with 330 calories per kiev so they arent really a healthy meal, but great if you couldnt be bothered cooking.

If you are going to freeze these, you need to on the day you purchase them and use within one month. They are not suitable for microwave cooking.

Overall, i will not be buying these chicken kievs again, i will pay a little extra i think for a better quality product!!

Nice But They're Not All That!!!

The other day I just fancied some chicken kievs, not them little balls I mean the proper chicken breast sized ones. In Tesco I was mooching through the different chilled kievs and I saw they do a few that have got other fillings instead of garlic. I've got a thing about cheese and ham and LOVE trying new things that have got this combo in or on them so I had to get these Cheese & Ham Chicken Kievs.

They take about 20 mins to cook from chilled and you can freeze them as well and still only take an extra 10 mins to cook from frozen.

Quite a lot of oil comes out of the chicken kievs when they're cooking and the bottom layer of breadcrumbs tastes and feels a bit greasy. I was glad the filling didn't start coming out of the kiev because that does my head in, they look nice when they're cooked and you can smell the cooked chicken and cheese.

The sauce inside the kiev is nice but it's not all that tasty, you can sort of taste the ham but it's not a strong flavour and to me just tasted like salty meat instead of actually being ham. It gives the cheese sauce a lovely salty flavour all the way through... and it kind of needs it because the cheese in this is a bit bland and deffo isn't as strong as I thought it would be.

The chicken is delish, you can tell it hasn't been messed about with too much and it's lovely and tender. The breadcrumbs are ok too, they go a bit crunchy but the bottoms go a bit soggy and never crisp up as good as the top. There isn't a massive amount of filling in the kievs but it's quite rich so I reckon it's just right, it's got a better texture than taste but there are deffo better cheese and ham flavoured hot food about.

I WILL probably get these again but not very often and I reckon it'll be one of them things I buy every 4 months and they disappoint me every time! LOL

Recommended.... but don't expect too much!!!
