This product is great, it's definitely worth the hype but I'm not sure it's worth the money. First of all, it is an illuminating concealer- seems simple, but it makes your eyes look SO bright even at your tiredest.
The texture is gorgeous, creamy but not too thick or greasy so it never looks caked on or fake.
One thing is the price is extortionate! I've also used products which are very similar to this one but that don't cost as much.
It does last a considerable amount of time, but most concealers do. Problem is, it's wand applicable, which means germs must be prevalent.
I would also like to point out that YSL test on animals and have never even considered stopping which is a bit of a downside for me as always.
As a young lady, I was only able to afford this product when it was given to me by my mother for my birthday:(
I received this concealer/highlighter as a birthday present. The gold packaging is nice and looks expensive. I was bought the 'light' shade, as I am fair skinned. It glides on beautifully and is easy to rub in, however it made my skin whiter and I looked like a ghost. I needed bronzer to give me some colour! I used it everyday and it lasted a while, although the click button started getting hard to press and it needs a few clicks to get the concealer out. I did like this, but I wouldn't buy it for myself. Its too pricey for what it is and I can think of other concealers that do the job just as well!
I bought Touche Eclat with a giftcard I was given for Christmas, I had heard and read all the hype about the supposed Best Hightlighter on the Market and thought I would give it a go. That was three years ago now and it is my preferred highlighter. It gives such great coverage and you only need a very small dab per under eye section. I suffer with sleepless nights and dark circles under my eyes and using Touche Eclat makes my eyes appear much brighter.
Because you only need a small amount the highlighter pen lasts a long time, and is definitely worth the price tag. There are cheaper highlighters available on the market and I have tried a few but this one beats them all. You definitely get what you pay for and with Touche Eclat this includes the high quality packaging which looks great in your makeup bag! I will continue to use Touch Eclat, I buy it as gifts for my girl friends and female family members and would highly recommend it.
I agree that it is the best highlighter pen on the market and you definitely get what you pay for. After using some of the cheaper alternatives on the market I always go back to Touche Eclat.
The price of this would suggest that it is absolutely great and does exactly what it is meant to do.
But of course, that is not the case.
Having dark circles under the eyes runs in my family, and unfortunately for me, the gene didn't skip me...
I have tried so many concealers, and none of them work at all!
So i turned to this one, having read more positive than negative reviews.
It definitely looks appealing, with its shiny gold exterior- very posh!
Then to actually get the product out, you just remove the lid, then click the top of the 'pen' and a little bit of product should come out.
You then dab on your eyes straight from the brush, or put it on the back of your hand and use your finger to apply.
The liquid is rather thin, a plus for many due to the fact that most people do not like applying heavy products on their skin (me included)
But no, it does not cover up my dark circles, in fact, it highlights them even more as it just makes them shiny more than anything.
What a disappointment for £18.
YSL's Touche Eclat has long been an iconic highlighter pen known for making skin look luminous. The new Radiant version lives up to this iconic status, minimising shadows, pigmentation, red areas and dark spots whilst adding a light-reflecting radiance. The tube cost me around £23, but the price can vary from around £20 to £26.
The highlighter is in a simple shiny gold tube with black lettering. It's elegant, stylish and sleek and looks great both in my beauty bag and on my dressing table. Due to the shiny colour it is also easy to find when rummaging around in your handbag or make up bag!
The applicator brush is firm but still flexible, allowing you to apply the highlighter in specific areas, whilst keeping it fresh and natural looking. None of the hairs in the brush fell out, and the brush stayed firm despite a lot of use. There is a simple black push up button at the base of the tube which when pushed up fills the brush with the highligter liquid. I have used the product for around 4 months, virtually every day, and there is still highlighter left in the tube (though I cannot see this I can presume this, due to the ease in which the highlighter is being pushed up into the brush).
DOES IT WORK?
YES! The highlighter both illuminates and conceals dark, pigmented and red areas of the face. Though I would mention that this isn't really an alternative to concealer as the coverage is not that great. I'd recommend this product for those who have a good foundation base and wish to highlight specific areas or luminate skin which is imperfect.
For me, this product is to expensive for what it achieves. It highlights well and blends imperfections but lots of products act similarly.
After buying many products similar to this I have finally found one that works! I have quite dark circles around my eyes and pigmentation around my upper lip area. When the Yves Saint Laurent representative tried this product on me in the shops, it simply transformed my face. I was not expecting such excellent results, the dark circles under my eyes were not visible and my pigmentation was as if it didn't exist! This can be used as a highlighter or a concealer on any part of your face. This product first only came in a few shades but now it available in many many shades to suit all skin tones! I often find that when buying a concealer there is a need to wear foundation on top, but this product blends into your skin so well that there is no need to wear foundation to cover anything up. After buying different concealers, from all brands such as Rimmel, Maxfactor, MAC, Dior, Bobbi Brown, I honestly feel that this one is the best I have ever used! It has a very light texture and does not look obvious or heavy on your skin at all, it looks more natural! The only thing I found was that the Yves Saint Laurent representative put on this product a lot better than I did. It has a brush at the end of it but the Yves Saint Laurent representative applied the highlighter and concealer with her finger tips. I personally find it easier to spread the product around my eye area (covering my eye lid as well) with the brush then try to blend it into my skin using my fingertips. It is a bit pricey if you don't usually spend a lot on make up but I would really recommend buying this! It also lasts a long time and looks very stylish in your make up bag! You don't have to worry about it leaking or breaking and smashing in your make up bag as to activate the product you need to click the bottom, like a pen. You really will not be disappointed with this product as I have now been converted. When you go to the Yves Saint Laurent representative they may try to sell you an moisturising cream before hand (they did this with me) and it was said that this cream will make your skin tone look more lighter and radiant. However, I personally found that the moisturiser acted like any other moisturiser I have used that naturally makes your skin look radiant and lighter. Therefore, I would recommend that you use a good moisturiser before using this product and allow your skin about half an hour to soak up the moisturiser before applying any other products on it. Another tip I found useful is to apply a good primer to the areas where you will be using this product as then I found the concealer and highlighter stays on your face for longer giving you better results!!
I bought this hoping that it would make my eyes look a little less tired and I loved it! It's in a really nice looking gold pen and you brush the make-up on using the brush tip. You have to click the bottom of the pen to release a bit of make-up into the brush ready to use, I found this really useful because it makes sure you don't waste any and as it's quite an expensive product that is the last thing you'd want to do! I used it on the dark circles under my eyes, a bit on my brow bone, on the cupids bow and on my cheek bones, just brush a bit onto the selected area and then pat in with your finger to blend. It worked really well by reflecting the light and lightening those areas and making my face look brighter and refreshed. I would thoroughly recommend Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat because it does what it says it will do, the only bad word I would have to say is that it is expensive but then that's what you would expect from a high end brand, I'd say it was worth the money though.
YSL touche éclat is a product that is simply raved about everywhere, by celebrities, to beauty editors to your average Joe (Josephine?) on the street. I've lost count of how many times I've been told "it's worth the money" & so finally splashed out about 2 months ago. I must say that I regret it..
One thing I can't fault: this comes in a study feeling metallic box featuring the product & the instructions. The product itself has a gold finish, which is not a sticker but the actual material, although I hesitate to say what that is! Definitely a nice looking product :)
**The product itself**
The product looks like a small mascara, & works by pressing a black button on one end. The liquid slowly comes up through the light-coloured brush so you can see how much you have on it. I think this method is great as you really can control how much you get on the brush, avoiding waste.
I use this product mostly for the bags under my eyes obtained during the dreaded three months of 'continual assessment' at uni - between that & my full-time waitressing job I was sleeping 2-3 hours a night for months on end & it really took its toll. I have sunken bags under my eyes, they are often puffy & the skin is dark blue at times! I do find that this product works wonders. It doesn't offer a thick coverage but it does seem to reflect the light which really lightens the whole area. I would go as far to say it looks 'radiant'!
I don't really think this product is suitable as a concealer, the coverge is not good enough to hide any flaws.
In the product instructions, there is a description of how to use this as a highlighter to really lighten up your skin, but having tried it a few times I think it is just silly!
This product is incredibly expensive. It seems to cost an absolute minimum of 20pounds, & YSL don't seem to do promotions.
I do think this is a wonderful product. However, as a student, the price is prohibitive for me & I don't think it is worth the money. I can't help but feel that careful use of a thicker conceealer & a highlighting product could do a similar job. So although I love it, I won't be buying it again.
I must say i am not surprised to hear that this little cult beauty product has just celebrated its 20th year as the uk's no1 luxury beauty product...this product is phenomainally AMAZING and is my EVERYTHING!!! I've been using it for about 6 years when my mum bought me one for my birthday and had always used the original shade 1...it sculpts...it highlights...it gives radiance...it banishes dark circles...i even use it as a base for my eyeshadow and lipstick!! I even use it when im not wearing any other makeup on my days off so its perfect for those ladies who like the au naturel look..
I will note here i am of a fair to medium complexion...but often use the sunbeds and fake tan. But because this is a transparent colour it blends with your skin torn regardless of your skin tone. You just have to look at the celebrities who use Touche Eclat and there is your proof. You have Kate Middleton, Rihanna, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. All of whom have a range of skin tones but can wear Touche Eclat with ease.
And now Yves Saint Laurent have spoiled us with 10 new shades for different tones! Alongside the original which i pop on top of my foundation to highlight my cheeks, brows and dark circles, I now also use shade 4.5 (which is a bit more yellow for when im especially dark under my eyes and for spots and shade 3 (which is a more tanned tone) in the hollow of my cheeks to define and sculpt.
All you need is one click to achieve maximum results. Apply your foundation first, Touche Eclat is applied on top, dab in gently, try not to drag the delicate eye area, the technology in this means it just glides onto the skin. Within 30 seconds the colour will adapt to your skintone. I always apply mine facing the window as you can really see the light reflecting technology that's exclusive to YSL work. Doing this also enables you to see how little you really need.Touche Eclat will never sit in the lines and wrinkles either. It has a treatment in there which actually hydrates the eye area and will never sit cakey or chalky (the same can't be said for other 'versions') However if on the rare occasion it is sitting dry, consider changing your eye cream as this could be the problem.
My fiance is an avid footballer and during a recent game was elbowed in the eye causing an absolute beauty of a purple and black eye. His job is of a professional nature and obviously to rock up sporting a black eye would have done nothing for his clients, so we tried Touche Eclat...(more out of intrigue than actually thinking it would work) I was amazed at the results for something as dark as that was and according to him for the whole 10 days he was 'made up' not one person noticed a) the black eye or b) his makeup!
For all the ladies out there who are 'struggling' with this I'd highly recommend popping to your nearest counter and asking for their expertise...you may need a slight tweek in your shade.
Why is it that women spend hours getting ready? So you can rock that "oh this, yeah, fell out of bed and looked like this..." you see, I am one of those who spend, probably much longer than most, putting on my makeup... just to make it look like I'm not wearing any! I have perfect skin...Obviously... not.
They were right in naming it the magic wand. I wanted this for so long but as it is quite expensive I held off and just kept on the review reading. All the Magazines, reviews and my friends swear by it so for one birthday several years ago (during an exciting trip to Harvey Nicholls) I was brought this and since then I have used it every single day. The product itself is marketed as a highlighting product, this means it is used to under the eyes, around the lips, above the eyebrows and anywhere that the light should hit your face. Now, it is not advertised as concealer but I do find it works well if you do, for whatever reason, need to cover something - Basically it works well as a "throw in your bag" and use for everything at times of need product.
The product does come in at £25 so it is pricey but for what you get it is well worth it. Not forgetting that this product is made my Yves Saint Laurent so it is a high end beauty item - yet it still comes in cheaper than some of the other high end alternatives.
I personally have found that the product lasts for around 4-5 months before I run out (normally just as I need it) but please bear in mind that I use this every morning and I top up through the day when I need it too so you wont go away feeling like you haven't had your monies worth. The quality of the product is phenomenal, it is extremely luxurious when you apply it to your skin and the packaging is extremely well designed. It comes in a "pen" form with a button on the end which you click to dispense just the right amount of product into the inbuilt brush - (Just to note with the application I find the brush leaves a few strokes on your skin so I use my finger to smooth over the edges)
YSL have now introduced this product in a range of different colours. Initially designed for fair skin they now stock 12 shades from pale to dark skin. As I have mentioned before I have very sensitive skin with some really troublesome spots and I am fine with it so this product will probably suit most skin types. I was informed by the lady at the YSL counter that this is also a moisturizing formula so it should suit very dry skin types.
This can be used on it's own or under/over foundation depending on your poison... Would I buy it again, yes, I am on my, probably 5th one..... Personally I think it is well worth the price for the 4 or 5 months of glowing "flawless" skin.
I have always struggled with covering up the dark circles under my eyes. I have very fair skin and the thinness of the skin often means that veins can show through. I have tried many different concealers over the years to try adn remedy it.
After reading several promising reviews and Touche Elcat being frequently listed as a make up essential I thought I would splash out. The packaging is very slick, and has the air of being the high end product it is. The product is dispensed through clicking the button on the end of the 'pen' (quite a satisfying noise!). I found it took a fair few clicks each time I used it (not just on first use) and then it would spurt out, which wasn't exactly ideal.
My main issue with the product was that it didn't sit on my skin well. I tried after all sorts of different face creams, moisturisers or bare skin but it always seemed to be on top of the skin rather than blended into it. Warming the pen or my hands did not help the situation.
I wouldn't say that this is worth the money, there are better concealers/highlighters on the market for much much less.
After hearing this product positively reviewed and recommended on quite a few occasions, I decided to splash out and order myself some. I believed it was meant to be useful for lightening under eye circles, and also for use as a general highlighter.
I ordered the original shade as I have fair skin, and it probably was near enough the right shade. It has quite a pink hue to the product, so although it is acceptable because of it's use as a highlighter rather than all over the face, I feel personally that it would be too pink for somebody with a warmer/yellow based skin tone.
The end of the touche eclat pen is a black button, which you press to dispense some of the product onto the brush. This is a really useful design feature as it keeps the product clean and simple to use and also means you can easily control how much of the product you use. It did take me a few attempts personally to remember not to put the lid back on while holding the bottom of the pen though, so I did waste a bit of product by dispensing it on closing. The pen shape also means that it is easy to store and to carry with you if you chose to.
Unfortunately I found the actual product inside the pen to be quite disappointing. I have quite dark circles under my eyes, so the product might work well for someone who just wants the tiniest bit of lightening, but I really don't think this touche eclat provides much coverage. Used in it's role as a highlighter, the product does have some light reflecting qualities... however, there are a few area where I would be keen to use a highlighting technique, and I believe that I have used better products in all of those areas than the touche eclat. For highlighting under the eyebrows, using a highlighting pencil is in my opinion a much easier and more precise method, and for highlighting temples or the cupids bow etc to "plump up" the areas, a basic concealer in a shade paler than the user's skin tone would work just as well if not better than this. That is because when applying the touche eclat under powder it's effect is massively lost when the powder is applied, but when applying over powder it is extremely easy to cause the powder to go patchy as this product is so liquid.
I cannot comment precisely as to how long this product would last as I do not use it often at all, and just apply it occasionally if I am wearing no other makeup as a way to avoiding wasting it. That said, you don't need to use much at all so I can imagine it would last a long time. Although the brush has stayed clean easily, and despite using it infrequently the product has continued to dispense easily.
I brought this product with high hopes. It is the go to product for banishing under eye shadows and is always highly rated in magazines. It is quite pricey, around £25, but I decided to treat myself after falling for the hype. Unfortunately I was disappointed.
The packaging is really nice and the product itself is well presented but I found it quite difficult to use. The click style dispenser should be really easy but I found that one click was not enough but two clicks was too much! This might sound silly but for the price you pay, you don't really want to waste any! The lid was also quite difficult to put back on without accidently clicking the end! Again, this meant I wasted quite a bit of the product.
The product is quite easy to apply and blended fairly well. However, I didn't see a massive difference. Although it made my undereye slightly lighter and I can see why it is described as light reflecting, I wasn't impressed. Also, if you use too much, it can look a little 'caked on' and it becomes obvious that you have tried to conceal under eye shadows.
I noticed that there are now more shades available for Touche Eclat and I'm sure that others find that it does the job, but sadly it's not for me. I feel that there are cheaper and more effective products now available.
This product is simply amazing!!! When my black-eyed, bleary-eyed reflection stares back at me from the mirror I don't panic!!! I know that with YSL Touche Eclat at my side, all will be ok.
With just a few small dabs under each eye, it blends effortlessly and immediately brightens the appearance of my eyes and disguises the dark circles in seconds. The pump action of the wand is easy to use and the brush quickly fills ready for use. It is easy to see when the brush is loaded so that not a drop of this precious liquid is wasted!
The one and only down side to this product is the cost. Although I would never be without it, the only reason I am able to own it at all is because my mum treats me!! I couldn't justify spending this much on makeup, however, I have tried numerous cheaper options and none cut the mustard!!! Used sparingly I can make this product last a couple of months (daily use) and too be honest, it is such a quality product that very little is needed anyway.
I decided to buy this product after reading amazing reviews online and in magazines, even on the television
The first time I tried Touche Éclat was in 2006 and fell in love with the product, initially I used it only to conceal under the eyes - although back then I hardly had any dark circles I would use it to open up the eyes and I would also use a tiny amount on the inner corners of the eyes, at the time I never even attempted to use this product as a highlighter.
This is one of the first products I take out of my make up bag on special occasions or on days I want to make that extra bit of an effort!
Everyone will have their own ways of applying Touche Éclat and not everyone will use it in the same order - some people like to use it over foundation however I prefer it under foundation. I moisturise my face then apply concealer mainly to my very dark circles and then over concealer I use Touche Éclat under the eyes, on the inside corners of my eyes, along the bridge and crease of my nose and on the brow bone.
I find my face instantly brightens up and with a little mascara I would be ready to go (that's if I was going for the natural look of course) - note the concealer I use under my eyes is one or two shades darker than the Touche Éclat number 1 shade I use otherwise if they were both the same shade I may look too bright and over made up.
From here I apply foundation start with my eye make-up. I do not always wear foundation but Touche Éclat for me does not always need to be enhanced by foundation, it works just fine on its own too.
I would say that for me Touche Éclat is more of a brightener/highlighter than a concealer - which is what I first thought it was.
At £25 this product is slightly on the dearer side when it comes to price so ensuring the correct shade for your complexion is very important before purchasing. Shade 1 being the lightest and I think it goes up to shade 7 as the darkest.
I definitely think this is an amazing product and works great for me however I feel there are products which work in a very similar way to this one but at the same time cost slightly less.
Packaging and usage
Touche Éclat comes in a beautiful elegant gold box. Once out of the box the actual product is a gold metal pen - it's so beautifully packaged but I'm afraid that may have something to do with the price I'm paying for it too.
There is a lid to cover the brush applicator and a black clicking button on the opposite end of the brush applicator, which is where the product miraculously appears after clicking the button but patience is required upon first time usage as many times I've panicked and thought I've been sold an empty Touche Éclat however many clicks later a tiny amount of product eventually appears.
I get away with one or two clicks of product when I use this, if there is a lot of product on the applicator I simply dab dots of the product under my eyes, if I haven't got a lot of product on the applicator I actually draw a line with the applicator over where I need coverage. You soon get to know the product and it is very easy to use.
Most of the time for me I need to apply two applications so once I've blended the first application I'll go again and repeat what I did first time round (I only do this under the eyes though)
For the bridge and crease of the nose and brow bones I also draw a very faint line and blend very well. Sometimes I use a tiny amount on the outer edge of my top lip or bottom lip (never around both lips as I just look like I've got a swollen mouth!) experimentation may be needed on this one before perfecting the final look...
To blend the product I simply dab or stipple with my ring finger (least amount of pressure) over the product until it has perfectly blended, if you move your finger over the application you may find you move the product rather than blending it so although it can be time consuming stippling is the most effective method of blending.
It's only 2.5ml but Touche Éclat lasts me a good while (over 6 months) but maybe it is because I do not use it everyday - more like once a week for me.
Overall I love this product I love the packaging and I love the way it transforms my face from tired looking mum to wide awake mum! Only a handful of beauty products do I truly rely on and YSL Touche Éclat is definitely one those products.
I did not hesitate about applying my own make up when I got married because I was confident that as long I used YSL Touche Éclat I would look just how I wanted to - and I did!
