I saw these online first and was so excited I ended up buying one for £4, without even searching for a cheaper version first, very unlike me. I bought the 'Sure' shade which was purple and pink eye shadow with a generous mix of glitter. I love a bit of glitter and shimmer and this had all the elements I love in it. The tub is round and has a black plastic bottom with a clear lift up lid on. It opens and closes easily and I do prefer the lids with the hinge rather than the ones that lift off completely. No mirror or applicator but still a very pretty colour and new idea. I will admit to being disappointed when I first used this due to finding that the glitter is only situated on the top of the powder, the pink splodges are also on the top, the pink isn't such a problem as I don't wear a lot of pink, but the glitter was a shock. Once you have used the top of the shadow, there is no glitter left and you are basically left with a plum purple eye shadow. It is a nice colour and I am happy with the powder itself, it just not what I bought it for. The colour is a rich deep plum and it does have a slight shimmer to it which is nice, it doesn't last that long which is also a disappointment. If you are planning to wear it on a night out, you will need to re-apply to keep the colour bright. I believe there are a few colours in this range but the Sure version was the only one I could find online. It goes on easily, if not a little too easily but it doesn't crease, you just have to be a little wary of how much you actually put on your brush at a time. It lasts well as you need very little to show off the colour. Although I would give it a thumbs up, I may try to look harder at products before buying them as I am still put out by the glitter.
~Stir It Up~ Stir It Up is a collection of creamy eyeshadows offered by make up company Rimmel. There are various shade combinations avaiable including blue and purple colours. I will be discussing my use of shade no 800 'No Way' which is a silvery eyeshadow with black and white speckles. Rimmel state that this eyeshadow is a 'velvety smooth creamy eyeshadow'. It contains two shades of shimmering powders which blend together to create a sparkly finish. ~Packaging~ This eyeshadow is presented in a decent sized, round plastic compact. The compact features a black base with the product information and is finished off with a clear, flip up lid which carries the Rimmel logo. ~Price and Availability~ The various shades of Stir It Up can be sourced online from Amazon and stores such as www.fragrancedirect.co.uk. Expect to pay around £1.25 for a 4g compact. ~My Thoughts~ My local Poundland stocks quite a lot of Rimmel make up and I have made a few purchases over the last few months. I spotted this particular eyeshadow and really loved the speckled design and overall colour/appearance of this eyeshadow. For £1.00, you can't really go wrong and it is definitely worth checking out local bargain shops for cheap deals. This eyeshadow does not come supplied with an eyeshadow applicator so you will need your own. This is fine for me as I like to use my own or sometimes my finger to apply my eyeshadow. 'No Way' is definitely not a subtle shade and it isn't one which I would choose to wear often. It looks great for wearing to a party and alongside thick black eyeliner and black mascara. The surface of this eyeshadow is incredibly smooth and almost silky. It is very easy to run my finger or eyeshadow brush over the surface as it has a slightly 'moist' feeling which gives a creamy effect. A word of warning - this eyeshadow transfers VERY easily to an applicator brush and it is easy to pick up far too much which I have learned. Less is definitely more with this eyeshadow as it is highly pigmented. I felt a bit bad about ruining the initial design on the surface of this eyeshadow as it looked so cool. Once I started sweeping my brush over it, all the different shades started to run together. I assumed this would effect how good it performed but it doesn't as the different shades all blend together anyway as you sweep them across your eyelid. The creamy texture of this eyeshadow allows it to glide along my eyelid smoothly. Once applied, it feels incredibly lightweight and doesn't crease into any lines on my eyelids. 'No Way' won't be to everyones tastes but I love the effect it gives. The actual colour is different almost every time I use this eyeshadow. Most of the time I manage to catch quite a lot of silver on my brush and only a small amount of black which deepens the silver giving a dramatic colour. Catching the silver with the white speckles gives yet another effect which is very bright and makes my eyes look bigger. Sometimes I manage to pick up mainly just the silver and this is gorgeous in its own way - bright, shimmery and glitzy. I love each colour combination and find that the different colours blend really well and catch the light beautifully. This eyeshadow lasts well on my eyelids without fading. It is usually still strongly visible after 5 or 6 hours before it starts to lose its intensity a little. It doesn't look cheap which I like and is certainly not just for glitter-loving teenagers in my opinion. There is sometimes a tiny bit of glitter fall out whilst wearing but nothing major. Any excess eyeshadow can be wiped off using a make up wipe. ~Conclusion~ I really like this eyeshadow. I quite fancy trying the other shades but I am happy with 'No Way'. This eyeshadow is of a decent quality and I am pleased I found it for £1.00. It will last me for ages as I don't find it suitable for wearing on a day to day basis. 4 stars - thanks for reading :) x
When it comes to eyeshadows they are something that I really do enjoy buying! I find them fascinating for some reason and that I can change my look just by using them I guess! I own loads but lately just fancied some darker more dramatic colours and when I spotted this Rimmel one in my local Poundland store I felt it was worth a go at a mere pound! Now I never realised this was a cream eyeshadow or I'll be honest I wouldn't have bought it. I have owned moist/creamy ones in the past and found them to be either greasy and/or to crease up badly and so nowadays I very much steer clear of them.....however I'm really, really glad now I didn't know....please continue reading review to find out why! The Packaging: This eyeshadow comes in a round plastic case to which the base of it is black and shiny and the top section is flip top style and see-through plastic and on that there is a picture of a crown and we are told that it is Rimmel London all in silver writing. On the base of it we are told that it is Stir It up Eyeshadow and the colour option is given (Sure...300 in my case), the weight is stated which is 4g and contact details for Rimmel is given. This is nice enough if not a rather plain looking compact with no applicator or mirror given but easy to open and close etc. The Eyeshadow Itself: The whole reason I didn't realise that this was a creamy eyeshadow formula is because the top of the eyeshadow looks and is powdery and like crushed up crystals without glitter in it. Dab into this that powder mixes with the cream base giving a slightly moist eyeshadow. The powder eventually gets used up but some of it does blend with the cream meaning it all mixes up in a way basically. The colour option I went for is a purple and a pink shade, some darker bits than others. Like I say the top part is powder but rather thick and blends well and it smears over the eyes really well and not too thick at all. It goes on slightly glossy but doesn't transfer off and/or smear when worn. This is great applied over powder, especially dark colours to give a glossy sort of rock star look. I like the shimmer it gives and the overall coverage is brilliant and it feels very comfortable on indeed. It stays on all day long till I choose to remove it which is simple to do so! Available in a couple of colour options I have never seen this on sale in chemists and/or supermarkets anywhere only in discount stores but found at about a pound a compact I think this is a truly brilliant make-up product and it gets a huge thumbs up from me.
