Let's not start this review with a Playboy sized elephant in the room. Yes, this is the brand launched by Hugh Heffner, he of the myriad identikit blonde girlfriends and rather natty smoking jacket. Yes, It is promoted and worn by the aforementioned identikit blonde girlfriends. Yes, the make up stand itself features images of scantily clad ladies. Yes, the only people who would aspire to this brand can't actually afford it out of their pocket money, and are too young to understand some of the provocative shade names used. But heed me when I say - this eyeliner is GOOD. It's rather more than good actually, it's pretty amazing. I have tried maaaany liquid eyeliners, more than a few in this familiar 'felt pen' format. I like this format, it makes application a lot easier and cleaner. I own a couple of shades, my favourite being Turquoise. It's real shade name I won't repeat here, for decency's sake. It's a great quality colour, really intense. It dries quickly too, so you have no worries on that score! The brand itself is supposed to be exclusive to Superdrug, though I have seen it elsewhere. The full retail price of this product is £7, but hush - I'm going to tell you a secret. Get down to your largest Superdrug, where problems with the supplier are causing stock to be sold off at £1. I didn't tell you.
When it comes to make up I love strong dark rock chic eyes though I admit to a slight tremor appearing in my hands when I'm working on my eyes which comes out of no where and makes a splodgy mess! However try, I do to get batwinged eyeliner and I buy many different eyeliners to try get the right effects! I spotted this product in Superdrug where they have a concession. Usually I buy my Playboy make up on offer in T.J Hughes but they don't stock this and a mate actually recommended it to me. Now I am a Kohl girl fan. If I make mistakes (which I do tend to do more often than not lol) I find pencils easy to correct. Eyeliner pens, I find to be harder work being ink of course however I do appreciate the glossy harder look achieved! So I parted with my pennies on this and just choosing which pen to buy was bothersome. The nibs come in different sizes and are listed on the pen. I can't tell you how I decided on size 2 I just did but there were about 5 sizes of nibs to choose from. The Pen: Long thin, black and shiny with metallic pink rabbit heads up one side. All it says on it is 'Size 2, Right?' and the long lid to one end pulls on and off with ease revealing a pointed thickish nib. Using It: This is a fabulous quality eyeliner pen. I only saw this available in the colour I got which is jet black and all you do is frame your eyes with it! Now yes you need a steady hand but basically it's rather simple to use. The ink saturates the stiffish nib and as you press it against your eyes it gently and smoothly comes off where you want it to go. Now a trick is if your not very experienced in a using a product such as this, well then cheat! Use a conventional eyeliner lightly first and then go over the top of it with this! I find this to create a very hard look. It doesn't feather into creases and it stays glossy and bright till you come to removing it. A word of warning here though it is a devil to remove! I use a very good eye make up remover and even that struggles to budge it it's like an indelible ink pen! It does come off eventually and that just proves it stays perfect on the eyes for hours! It's none transferable when on and stays bright.... you can even have a good drunken weep about loves lost when drunk if you desire (tried and tested that is lol). It's a fabulous, nifty product and I love it. None agitating and it really does give a very polished look to the rims of your peepers! I paid £12.00 for my eyeliner pen in Superdrug but do look about for this on line for it going cheap before splashing the cash....I wish I had lol
