      This mascara works well for me.

      I do wear make-up a lot and so I like to try new things to find the best for me. I wear mainly foundation, bronzer and mascara. As I don't wear eye shadow or eye liner it is important for me to have a good mascara that helps to lengthen and thicken my lashes. I have bright blue eyes and find that black mascara works best to make them stand out more. Personally I think it is trial and error with mascara as they all claim to do different things to your eyes but everyone has different shaped eyes, different colours, different length eye lashes etc so you need to find one that enhances your features the best.

      I have used maybelline products in the past and have really like them so when I saw the maybelline one by one mascara advertised at a promotional price of £6 I didn;t hesitate in wanting to try it. The mascara is is short but roundish tube that is red with green/blue writing. They do have different types such as black, blackest black, waterproof and a couple of others so make sure you read the packet first so you can choose the right one. I also buy blackest black although I don;t see the difference between black and blackest black they are both just black right??

      One thing I noticed about the mascara when I tried it was the shape of the brush. It is small and thicker than I am used to. It also is just round and not a curved brush which I like as I find with curved brushes that are thinner for the inner eye and fatter for the outer lashes they are too big for my eyelashes and I end up with mascara all over my eyelids. This mascara brush works really well and it has lots of small spikes that help to coat all the eye lashes evenly. A tip also if you wiggle the brush when at the bottom of the outer lashes it puts on a thicker coat and helps to make your eye lashes longer and thicker but not extreme like false eyelashes can look. The mascara brush doesn't put a lot of mascara on so if you like them thick you will need to do a couple of coats. But I prefer this as it means I don't end up with mascara on my eye lids or clumps of mascara on my eyelashes.

      I also like the way the lid is on the mascara which I know sounds odd but it stops mascara going on the outside which I have noticed happens on a lot of mascaras and it ends up all over you make up bag and other make up items.

      Full price in boots it is usually around £9 but they do have regular offers on such as buy one get one half price or 3 for 2 on make-up so you can get it cheaper if you are buying other make up at the same time. I love it and would recommend it but like I have already said you need to try a few different ones to find what suits you eyes the best.

      A great mascara

      Follow the rules
      ~~~~~~~~~~~
      One of the "rules" of applying makeup is to always go for either eyes or lips and never both well for me it is always the eyes. I don't really wear lipstick at all - instead I opt for sheer, clear or lightly tinted glosses. But when it comes to the eyes, for me the sky is the limit! I love to experiment with different colours and effects, and I am rarely without at least a little flick of eyeliner and a smudge of eyeshadow!
      Also a bit of an essential in my makeup kit is mascara. But despite trying out many different brands, I have never found one that has become my 'holy grail'. Instead I always seem to try out different ones, and although some are perfectly decent, I have never discovered one which I have thought I must buy again. But I have heard a lot of positive things about Maybelline mascara, and in general I really rate the brand, so I picked this up recently as part of a 3 for 2 offer in Boots. It costs around £8 and Is widely available.
      Eye-catching volume?
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      The mascara promises eye catching volume in one sweep. And the packaging is certainly eye catching. It is a bright, bold shade of pink and definitely stands out amongst other mascaras. The brush itself has 300 bristles - and although I didn't count them you can instantly tell that this brush has loads of bristles! They are also extremely thin, which I thought would bode well for clump-free lashes. The bristles also bulge slightly in the middle.

      This is very easy to apply and I have to say that just one sweep coated my lashes really nicely, without any clumping. It made my lashes look longer and fuller instantly, and the black is a dark and dramatic shade. I can never be bothered applying coat after coat of mascara, and I am pleased to say that I really didn't feel any need to with this one - just one coat gave me fuller and longer looking lashes. It also slightly curled my lashes too which was an added bonus.

      I wear this pretty much all day and I never have any problems whatsoever with this. I also wear contact lenses and this doesn't irritate my eyes at all. And it also comes off quickly and easily with my usual eye makeup remover.

      The verdict....
      ~~~~~~~~~
      So have I at last found my holy grail mascara? Well I have to say that this one comes pretty close! It is easy to use, and I can simply sweep this over my lashes in a few seconds to make them appear longer and more dramatic. I would say it is a little over-priced for my liking, but as cosmetics always seem to be on some offer or another this isn't a major problem as I can always pick it up 'cheaper'.
      I would definitely buy this mascara again which is a pretty good endorsement from me as I am such a fickle mascara user! It does everything I want a mascara to do.
      Advantages
      Disadvantages
      A disappointing mascara from a range I usually love.
      I received this mascara as a gift for my birthday last October. I like to use a selection of mascaras and am always keen to try anything new that comes out onto the market. I have tried a wealth of mascaras from more expensive brands but generally am of the opinion that cheaper mascaras tend to offer better value and similar results.
      This Maybelline mascara is not one I have owned before, though I do really like their volume express range and have pretty much tried every mascara they've produced under this branding. This one comes in a red plastic tube and has turquoise accents. The colours are weird together but definitely add a bright and colourful aspect to the design which makes it stand out. Most mascaras tend to come in boring black tubes whereas the volume express range offer a wide selection of clashing colours. This is really handing if you are looking for a particular mascara in a hurry because they are easy to fine. That said, the colours don't exactly scream mascara to you.
      The brush is a malleable plastic brush that is in an elliptical shape. I don't tend to like plastic comb brushes or these kind of soft plastic brushes as I much prefer a bristle brush for mascaras. However, this has an unusual shape and design so I was keen to try it and see.
      My first initial problem with it is that the brush does not seem to be very heavily coated in mascara which, for someone who loves wearing mascara, is a little disappointing. The brush is also a very strange shape which actually makes it quite difficult to apply. The reason it is designed this way is so that it reaches every little lash, all over your eyelash line. I can see why they are designed it in this way, though I actually don't find it all that easy to use. Even when you do reach those hard to get lashes there isn't much mascara on the brush anyway so you don't even get a good coat.
      I would say this mascara is best use over another mascara. I tend to use it once I've applied my mascara to just catch you hard to reach lashes and to add a little bit to the length. Other than that I think this mascara is pretty useless, and there are definitely better alternatives out there.
      I didn't pay for this mascara because it was a gift, though it would set you back roughly £7 in store. I think the price of the mascara is cheap and it has lasted me nearly a year which is pretty good going. Though to be honest this is probably due to the fact that I rarely use it. I won't be buying this again, nor would I really recommend it unless you are specifically looking for a mascara that reaches those hard to get lashes.
      Not my favourite mascara, and not one I'll be buying again.
