I have large brown eyes and the bigger and better the lashes the more impact my eyes make, in a normal way of course! For evening and going out this is perfect but when your at work or in a meeting you need something more subtle.
Although subtle you don't want to have no volume in your lashes either, can't win!
With this you might?
This is not the best mascara personally I have used from L'oreal but I would definitely reach for this for daytime wear.
The wand does bend a little which was slightly off putting but the amount of mascara applied after two or three applications was enough to see a lift and increase in volume.
My first attempt I put too much on and found that it will clump a lot giving you that strange mad eye look!!!
I find that this is perfect for work and fans out the lashes while increasing the lift to give a dramatic but professional look.
The whole product is undeniably L'oreal with a classy and sleek edge to the whole look.
If you follow the makeup professionals advice and twist the wand don't pump air back into the product, this will last a fair while depending how much or often you use.
I would highly recommend this for anyone needing a professional looking mascara for work with enough lift on this but yet looking beautifully natural as well.
Prices do vary online, but I find EBAY quite good for this most.
I always turn to Max Factor for my mascaras - this product is my everyday mascara and then I have Max Factor's false lash effect mascara for more dramatic eyes. This mascara is normally priced at £10 in my local supermarket and I am happy to pay that for this product.
The mascara itself is very easy to apply. The brush feels good quality and remains sturdy when you apply the mascara. It is a fairly thin brush so you get really lovely long, natural looking eyelashes but you don't get a particularly good volumising effect. This is perfect for me as a day mascara as it makes your eyelashes look naturally long - no giveaway clumps or flakey pieces! If I want a more dramatic, noticeable, volumised look I use the false lash effect Max Factor mascara to create the thick volume and then apply a coat of this product to add length. I always have people commenting on my eyelashes so I would definitely recommend that technique!
This mascara is also great because it lasts all day on your eyes. I can have a busy day and my mascara still stays perfectly intact which is exactly what I need. The product itself lasts quite a while as well so it is a good investment. My top tip to keep this product fresh and lasting longer is to never pump your brush in the container to get more mascara on the brush as this pushes air inside the bottle and dries it out faster. Instead just push the brush inside and twirl it side to side.
I would definitely recommend this product - my go to!

After hearing such glowing reviews on line I decided to buy this mascara, and it honestly is amazing. First off I really like the packaging of this mascara, it is unique and stands out because of the way the bottle looks. I agree that this mascara does as it says,
It makes my eye lashes appear a lot longer. The colour of this mascara is really pretty. This mascara separates my eye lashes easily and makes them look really long and separated which I like. I hate when mascaras make your eye lashes clumpy looking. This is the first time I had tried max factor make up and I now really like their mascaras! I have since tried a great foundation from their too which was very good coverage and affordable.
I rate this mascara a 5/5. It is a good mascara for daily use. This mascara is not too expensive which I like a lot also.
I received my Masterpiece mascara in a Max Factor free with purchase set, I'm a big fan of the Max Factor range anyway and try to stock up whenever they have one of their frequent freebie events as the sets usually contain full size products which is a good way of either trying something new or stocking up on tried and tested items. I was more than happy to receive this mascara as part of the freebie, I'm not overly fussy with mascara and find most of them to be overpriced so am lucky really that I get so many free that I don't often have to spend any money at all on them.
I have the mascara in Black but according to the Boots website it's also available in Brown, I wear dark mascara as a rule so was happy with Max Factor's choice for the set - this is a very deep black so if you prefer softer colour then maybe you should look at the brown instead, although I have no experience with that one and don't know if it performs the same as the black one.
The brush is nice to use and the perfect size to apply plenty of colour to my eyelashes but without putting so much on that it weighs my lashes down or causes them to clump together. I wouldn't say my lashes are magnified or volumised in any way but the depth of colour and also the way the mascara coats even the smallest lashes at the corners of my eyes does give the 'framing' effect descriped by Max Factor in the mascara blurb.
The mascara doesn't flake or smudge through the day or night, I apply a single coat for daytime wear and two or three if I'm going on a night out - ensuring I allow time for each coat to dry before applying another on top to avoid the risk of clumping or my lashes sticking together. I remove it using eye make-up remover on cotton wool balls and it's usually gone within a swipe or two - there's no panda effect in the morning so even though I'm a little slapdash when it comes to removing my make-up I'm pretty confident that all this has gone first time (otherwise I'd look like I have two black eyes in the morning!).
I really like this mascara, due to the lack of volumising effects I'm not sure I'd buy it but am chuffed with it as a freebie and would love another to be in one of Max Factor's super freebie packs in future.
I have been using this product for years. I love it. I have long (but blonde and invisible) lashes that aren't very thick. I find a lot of mascaras gloop my eyelashes together and give that lovely spider look. This mascara doesn't do that. I find it really easy to build, add length and add volume without clagging my eyelashes together. It stays on well (probably not perfect, but I don't end up with panda eyes by the end of the day). But considering the price tag its fantastic. People always ask me what mascara I use and I always fully recommend this product. If you are spending a fortune on mascara you should give this a try as I have spent much more and got a lot less over the years. This was pretty expensive for a drug store product. It was 20.00. But luckily, this mascara didn't fail to impress. I got it in the brown shade, and the wand is pretty flexible. The packaging was good, a bit big for a mascara in my opinion, but good all the same. I had very defined lashes after using this, they were spread out and natural looking and none were stuck together and/or clumped. You could also go heavier for a winged effect which also looked gorgeous. I would buy this again for sure, and I would recommend to a friend
Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara has an iFX brush designed to facilitate precision brushwork; delivering superb definition to your lashes, framing your eyes and making them stand out beautifully. It's priced at £9.99.
I like the packaging of this mascara. The tube is a bit chunkier than some and although I don't really like gold this is gold without being in your face and I think it manages to look high quality. I think this was the first mascara to use the plastic spiky brushes that are so prevalent these days. This one has lots of fairly short little spikes which are arranged quite close together.
The brush is really easy to use and I agree that you can do 'precision brushwork' with it. You can easily get right into the corners of the eyes with it without ending up with mascara all over your nose or below your eyes. You can also get right into the lash line without covering your eyelids in mascara.
The mascara goes on really smoothly and evenly and it does indeed give a very defined look to the lashes. It perfectly coats each individual lash with no sign of clumps whatsoever. It doesn't give a great deal of extra length or volume, it's more of an everyday type mascara than one to make a real impact, but the look it gives is really lovely and it does open up your eyes.
It lasts all day or night and I've never encountered problems with it smudging, flaking, or otherwise looking anything other than perfect. It is not waterproof but they also do a waterproof version which works brilliantly. The non-waterproof version is easy to remove, and as expected the waterproof one takes a little more effort but it still removes pretty easily with a decent cleanser or makeup remover.
This doesn't irritate my eyes at all, and I do wear contact lenses but have never encountered any problems with it
Yes! I would recommend this as the perfect everyday mascara for anyone who likes clump-free, well defined lashes!
I swear by this mascara, having tried many different brands and varieties over the years, I haven't found better, even when spending more than twice the £8 that this usually costs.
The mascara comes in the usual range of colours and is also available in a waterproof version which I have found equally good in terms of coverage and wear. So, what's so good about this mascara? Rather than bristles, the brush has little soft plastic spikes (the best way I can think of describing them!) which really fan out the lashes and give a nice open look to the eye, meaning your eyelashes don't clump or stick together like with some other brands. Also, it lasts really well - I apply a couple of coats in the morning and don't need to reapply all day, perfect. It's good for creating a dramatic look in a couple of coats but equally can be used for a more natural look if you only apply a single coat.
Finally, even with two daily coats, this mascara lasts me for months, so I would say it is well worth the £8 or so. It's the one beauty item I wouldn't be without!
I Love mascara its one of my favourite make up products and I always seem to pick them up when they are on sale even if I do not need them just to try out the latest product on the shelf and see what effect on my lashes it can have. I seen this on a introductory offer at £4.99 and thought why not.
It comes in a standard size tube with a twist off lid which has the wand attached to it .
The brush itself is rather deceiving when you first open the bottle and have a look at the wand it really does not look like it is up to much. The wand is rather small and has small tiny bristles that seem to get even smaller at the edges.
When applying to my lashes I was really surprised at how easy it was to achieve big volume two sweeps with the brush and some touching up at the edges and my eyes looked great my lashes looked a lot fuller and also had a slight curve to them. They looked a lot longer and also looked like there was a lot more lashes than I actually have.
The small bristles are great for pulling the lashes apart as well as creating a more full look and they are also very easy to coat bottom and corner lashes with the bristles being so small which is great as this can often be a pain to achieve with just 1 mascara.
The mascara lasted very well holds all day and is still noticeable at the end of the day after finishing work and running around after 3 babies. In the evening if I am going out I run a quick coat over the top and it refreshes the look without the mascara cracking, flaking or just looking clogged up witch is perfect for a quick top up.
The mascara usually cost around £8 which I think is great for a mascara that actually lives up to its claims. The effect given by this mascara is great for day or night and it is long lasting. There are different colours available where as I go for brown for a more natural soft look. It is available in a waterproof version but to be honest this is hard wearing with water anyway and find it lasts well enough.
another product that i love.
I dislike brushes which are too big or too small and this one is perfect in size. it captures the tiny lashes often missed with a big barrel and it isnt fidly and time consuming like with a small brush. when applying the liquid consistancy is also great, not clumpy, not dry. it applys the right amount to the brush and then to your lashes. i have tried a million mascaras, as we all have, and none compare to this one. You can build up the coats of mascara to go from a subtle and sophisicated day time type of look to the more dramatic and sexy full on dark lashes.
it really does make lashes look longer and fuller, when wearing it i sometimes think my lashes look too long, almost like fake lashes
The fact that they also do it in waterproof is another added bonus and so is that in boots you often get 3 4 2 on maxfactor.
I received this Max Factor Masterpiece mascara, in rich black, as part of a free gift set from Boots. I often use Max Factor products, and so was interested to try this mascara. The packaging is great, a slim black tube with gold lettering. However, as soon as I pulled out the brush I was already thinking this would not be the mascara for me--it is a hard plastic, spiky brush often used in these lengthening mascaras, and I really don't like the effect they give.
I was definitely right to think I wouldn't like this product--while the mascara itself didn't seem too bad at first, with a strong black colour, the brush did not give the result I look for. My lashes did look longer, but were stuck together, giving a spiky, spidery look that I don't like at all.
Throughout the day wearing it, the mascara continued to disappoint. I was frequently noticing that bits were flaking off around my eyes. I had expected much better from a Max Factor product, and I will certainly not be spending £8.99 for a full-size version from Boots. It didn't irritate my eyes like some mascaras can do, though, and dried quickly so it did not smear, but these plus points are not enough for me to use it again.
If the long, spiky-lashed look is something you want, then perhaps this is a mascara more suited to you, but it's really not the look I prefer. I would still suggest this product isn't really worth the money, though, considering the flaking off it does throughout the day.
The packaging: This mascara comes in a black tube with gold lettering and trim which immediately creates a classy look to the mascara. The brush has fairly small bristles and ranges from larger bristles to smaller ones to get right into the corner of the eye.
This product really does deliver in terms of making your eyelashes look lovely. The brush is able to reach all lashes and gives just enough coating for a nice daytime look. Each lash stands out and i did not get any problems with flaking or smudging throughout the day.
In terms of negatives, I didn't feel i was able to get a dramatic enough 'false lash' look with this mascara so it's not really suitable for going out clubbing etc. Also it is quite expensive and i'm not sure i would be happy paying the £10+ that this mascara costs on my lowly student budget. However, i certainly would not rule out buying this mascara again.

One coat of Max Factor MASTERPIECE mascara is all you need for that day-to-day lash look of beautifully separated evenly coated and non-clumpy lashes. Because of the perfect separation your lashes look thicker as well as being noticeably longer. However - me being me - I prefer more of a va va vroom false eyelash look so I use two coats.
The formula is fast drying - under ten seconds, which is good for people like me who prefer multiple coats. I've found that holding the brush against my lashes gives a slight curl and the formula locks it in. Needless to say; If you curl your lashes before applying this mascara the curl will be highly defined.

The magic to the effects you'll achieve with the formula is in the wand.
Admittedly, when I first opened my tube of MASTERPIECE I was very disappointed; the brush is composed of short rubber bristles, which decrease in length closer to the tip of the wands brush. The bristles simply didn't look long enough to evenly distribute the mascara without causing major clumps.
I was wrong. The brush grabs, lifts and coats every lash, even those little stragglers in the outer corners of the eye, thanks to the shortest bristles. The perfect separation and definition and lift fanned the lashes out.

I've been using MASTERPIECE on and off for a few years now and have yet to experience any flaking - this will honestly last me from 7:30 am until I remove it in the evening, still looking as fresh as it did when I first applied it.
I've never used the waterproof version as there has never been any need for me to: I've been caught out in the rain quite a few times and haven't noticed any running. Same with shedding a few sneaky tears during sad films. I think if I were to properly cry then it would run, but I can't recall doing that wearing this and I'm don't plan to, so that's no problem.

I used to happily spend an appalling amount on Diorshow mascara in the belief that weighing down my lashes with a lumpy formula was the way to achieve that false lash effect. Now I'm older and somewhat wiser I know that good false lashes look natural, so the length and separation you get from your mascara is more important for getting a natural and neater looking 'falsie' look.
The look of volume I get with two coats is as good as Diorshow, the length is better than Telescopic Precision and the rich black colour stands up against Liner Efect. If I were to compile a list of the top five mascaras I've ever used then this would be near the top.
I still do try other mascaras and love a few of them, but sooner or later I always come back to this as the fantastic results are guaranteed.

MASTERPIECE is available in black and brown/black.
There is also a waterproof version in black.
I paid £8.99 for this in Boots which is a little more than I would have liked to have paid, considering that there is very little amount of actual mascara in this - only 4.5ml - when in most mascaras that cost about the same price as this one there is usually about 8ml in them.
The reasons that I wanted to buy the mascara are:
*Currently I don't really have many good mascaras
*There was a lot of hype around this one, as it was the official mascara of Milan fashion week or something like that, and I think it has won some awards. These thoughts led me to thinking about buying it
*When I was looking at it in Boots my friend said that she has heard it is really good from someone she knows
So I took it off to the till and paid for it, hoping that it was going to be as good as I thought it would be. The colour I bought it in is black/brown. You can also buy this in black or deep blue. And there is also a waterproof version of this mascara, but the one I am reviewing right now is not waterproof.
The brush is very flexible. It can wobble around in all directions if you want it to, and the bristles are very short and there are lots of them. This makes the mascara clump free when you apply it, and I noticed that this also makes it easier to coat your very small eyelashes which can be hard to reach with some other mascaras.
I would not recommend putting this on your bottom lashes, even though this will reach to coat them, because it isn't waterproof and it does smudge and it gave me litlle panda eyes.
One thing I do really love about this mascara is the design. It is gold and very elegant looking. To me it just looks really fashionable and stylish.
I recommend this, but I just wish there was more formula in it and I wish the price was a little bit cheaper. Then it truly would be a masterpiece.
A good brand of mascara which does its job by lenghtening and thicking lashes making your eyes look great. the brush is really clever in that it coats each lash really well with minimum clumping and your lashes look long, thick and dark without applying tons of coats.
The packaging is simple and pleasant looking and the wands shape makes it easy to hold and use.
the main con is that the packaging makes the tube look bigger than it is and it doesn't last that long. it quickly runs out or dries out which is a bit annoying.
Also at first it doesnt clump at all but as it gets older (after a few weeks) seems to get drier and produce more clumps.
Overall though not hugely expensive it doesn't last that long so you will have to replace it, saying that I use alot of mascara, if you only use a bit every now and again may last longer. Still worth buying due to good brush which coats lashes nicely. A great mascara overall!
MaxFactor have always been way ahead of the for mascara for me with just a few exceptions. Master Piece is my all time favourite. It is consistent, lasts well and even up until the last dregs it has never gone gloopy for me. I like to curl my eyelashes as I was not blessed with naturally long curly ones, and Master Piece enhances this and keeps my eyelashes curled literally until I take it off.
At approximately £6 it is great value and far cheaper than other "dramatic" mascaras which do not last. I have also tried cheaper branded mascara at this same price and thrown them away after trying them just once.
The waterproof one truly has spectacular staying power, giving you eyes the look of freshly applied mascara all day. And it doesn't stop looking spectacular all through using the whole tube. The wand is very easy to use and just the right size. It glides on so smoothly that it is not neccessary to repeat the movement over the lashes many times as with other mascara brands. Unfortunately the one very minor downside is that it is so good that I have trouble removing it with normal cleanser.
