I recieved lots of MAC goodies last year for my birthday, with the 'X' mascara being one of them. This is my first MAC mascara and admittedly I did have extremely high expectations as this brand is one of my favourites due to the quality of their products. Luckily, I do not feel let down by this and it is yet another exceptionally good product which I can not pick fault with. MAC claim that this mascara thickens and lengthens the lashes as well as making them appear glossier, which is a pretty basic claim for a mascara; there are no promises that your lashes will look like falsies. One of the ingredients in the formula is vegetable protein, which I found a little bizarre but apparently this helps to strengthen the lashes. The mascara is available in two shades - black or dark brown. I recieved the black, which is a very intense shade - it is flawlessly pigmented and the colour transfers onto my lashes well. I have dark lashes, but this makes them even more defined. The mascara tube is well designed - it is pretty average as it's black, but it looks sleek and expensive due to the silver MAC branding as well as the silver band near the lid. The lid is slightly rounded which makes it look a little more unique and the tube comes in a cardboard box which I decided to keep as I find that it makes the mascara feel that bit more special, lol. The tube contains 6.5 grams of product and it is quite a compact and lightweight tube, so it can fit easily inside my handbag/make-up bag. The mascara's application brush like all mascaras is attatched securely to the wand, which is attatched to the lid. The brush is a good size - much more bulkier than the mascaras that I usually use and it is covered in lots of soft, flexible bristles which are spaced apart nicely meaning that the lashes are seperated, obviously making it appear like I've got loads and loads of long, fluttery eyelashes! The brush although large is not so bulky that it is hard to use, and it applies the thick, glossy black formula onto my eyelashes evenly. I've had no problems with this clumping and it is easily buildable. After one coat my lashes appear noticeably longer and I find that one to two coats is ideal for when I'm not bothering too much with my appearence. The more coats you apply, the thicker the lashes appear and on the occasions when I've really overdone it, it didn't weigh my lashes down or flake once it had dried. This is also great on false lashes to make them look that bit more natural. The mascara lasts for ages and I've never had a problem with it smudging or running off. It's pretty quick and easy to remove with make-up remover and doesn't require much effort to be completely removed. I use this mainly when I'm going somewhere special due to it being a MAC product and although I've had it for nearly a year and have worn it quite a lot, the tube still feels pretty full. This retails at around £18.00 which is brilliant value for money considering the longevity and quality. Overall, recommended!
The lazy sloth that I am, I often don't bother with my appearance, meaning I hardly wear make up unless I am going out and really can be bothered, or just wake up in a mood to look fabulous (haha not an often occasion!) but nevertheless I have my make up bag that occasionally sees the light of day and in it is my mascara from Mac. I quite like Mac make up products and every year when it is my birthday (at least for the past 3 consecutive years anyway!) I go to their make up counter in Selfridges in London or their actual store in Covent Garden and treat myself to some of their lovely makeup. Last year november, for the first time I bought their mascara (this Mascara X) and recently I popped to a department store near where I live to re-stock! It doesn't come cheap as it cost me about £18 which considering you can pick mascara up in Superdrug for £1 these days, but as I like the look of it, I decided to treat myself. It comes in a matt black tube which feels smooth, and it is a cylindrical shape. It has a screw top lid which when opened, the wand inside is attached to the lid. The wand has a thick bristle brush (yes my terminology lol) and has a curved edge to it. I have this mascara in black and so I use it on my lashes to give them a bit more thickness and exuberance and for this it works a treat. It is not a gloopy mascara in any way and I find the brush easy to maneouver and do fine simple strokes for good, even coverage on top lashes and my bottom lashes (of which there are hardly any!). The mascara is quite thick, compared to a rimmel one I had not too long ago so it does bring out my lashes which I like. It is not a waterproof mascara, although I'll be honest I haven't been blubbering when wearing it recently to put it to the test. Nevertheless it is not advertised as one, so I wouldn't recommend this for an extra sweaty person or an emotional one as I suspect you may end up with panda eyes! I am not naiive as I used to be when I actually thought mascara gave you "extra long lashes" like in the adverts (when I now realise they are all wearing lash extensions of course!) so I don't expect miracles and this mascara sure doesn't create them. Nevertheless, I can see a vast difference when I have this on, and I feel I can flutter my lashes much more flirtatiously which is the effect we all want right? So for the price, some may feel it is just the name you are paying for, which in my opinion would be true. I have seen no huge difference between using the Mac mascara and using a Rimmel one which I also have, but I do like the look of all my Mac products in my make up bag so I tend to stick with this brand.
WOW. This mascara left me speechless. I have used a lot of different mascara products in my time but this product has to be the show stopper of them all. I bet you are thinking, what makes this mascara so different compared to others? Well, this is the first mascara that I have used that does not leave big clumps inbetween eyelashes leaving eyelashes messily stuck together. The mascara is easy to apply and with a few brush-strokes you are left with perfectly highlighted eyelashes. The brush can be easily used by anyone and can be quickly applied. I prefer MAC mascara as with other mascaras I find myself fiddling with my eyelashes for longs amounts of time to achieve my desired look. Yet with the MAC range just a minute or two and I have the perfect look. I have also found that the mascara bottle lasts a long time. So far I have used the mascara for six months for nearly every day and there is just under half of the tub left over. Also after applying the mascara once it is applied, there is no need to reapply. There are a range of MAC mascaras with different brushes allowing you to achieve a daytime or night look. There are different types of mascara ranging from splash proof lash to false lashes effect. Each different mascara will help you achieve a different look. The price range is £13.50 - £22 which is not that bad considering, the mascara lasts a long time. The only disadvantage considering the make-up range is that not all of the different mascara's are waterproof. This can be seriously annoying sometimes, I understand. But there are some mascara products in the range that are waterproof. For a tester I would recommend visiting the nearest MAC store. On the other hand if you want to find out more about the products I recommend visiting the MAC website. To sum up, I would recommend this product to anyone. This is another must have product from MAC.
I've gone through a lot of different mascaras since I started wearing make-up (probably the last 5-6 years), and mascara is a bit of a minefield, because obviously, you can't try before you buy, and my eyelashes are by no means any longer than average. I'd heard nothing but good things about MAC make-up, but I've never owned any before as I try to spend as little as possible on cosmetics and they are quite pricey. However I received a small MAC make-up set for Christmas, including this mascara and tried it out, to see if the good things I'd heard were true. It goes on really easily, and the brush is quite narrow, which is helpful because it means you can get closer to the eyelid and get at the smaller eyelashes to push them upwards and outwards to give your eyelashes a longer and thicker effect. I can honestly say this is the best mascara I have ever used, it makes my very average eyelashes look really long and thick, and is ideal to accompany liquid and kohl eyeliner when wearing make-up from a night out. The only slight downside is that it is a lot more expensive than something you could pick up in boots, but in my opinion in this case, you get what you pay for. I'm glad I got this for christmas or I probably would never have used it, the only problem now is that I'm going to have to buy some myself when my current tube runs out!
Like most women in the world a black mascara is a staple in my makeup bag and something we must never run out of, no matter what. MAC Cosmetics have always been a brand I have looked to for the latest makeup trends and of course their high quality cosmetics and skincare that is used by makeup artists and celebrities alike. That is why when I was looking for a new mascara I thought of MAC. I have never been to MAC before for their mascaras so I thought it was about time I bought one and see what the fuss is about. Unfortunately I have read a few bad reviews on MAC and their mascaras, this seems to be one of their downfalls in their makeup range and something they can't seem to get right, sometimes though you have to bite the bullet and purchase something for yourself to see if everyone is right, after all what is wrong for one person might be right for you. The mascara I choose out of all of MAC's range is called X. X is priced at £12.50 for 6.5g and can be brought from a MAC store or MAC online at maccosmetics.co.uk X is described as building dramatically longer, thicker and glossier lashes. The oval shaped soft fibres brush delivers maximum results. X will never clump or smudge and it is designed to be long wearing without flaking. X contains Panthenol that helps to condition the lashes; it is easily removed and comes in two shades, black and dark brown. Like all of MAC's packaging this mascara comes in a matte black tube with a black screw off lid with MAC written in silver around the edge at the top, to me the packaging looks sleek. Taking off the screw off lid and taking a look at the brush, MAC was right, it is oval shape and quite a thick brush, which I like as you can create volume and drama. The bristles look long, stiff and spaced out to help with clumping; to me the brush looks like Dior Show, which is a mascara I love and their brush is fantastic so I thought I was in for a treat. When I took the brush out I noticed there wasn't a lot of mascara on the brush like you sometimes get with other mascaras but I did notice the part where the mascara comes out of and remaining mascara gets left behind was a little slack and not as tough as I would have liked, because of this the packaging feels a little cheap. Applying this to my lashes took little effort but some effort is needed to create your desired look. The first thing I noticed was how soft the brush is and how it just glides through my lashes; sometimes a soft brush can be a bad thing as clumping can occur but I didn't find this even with several coats. The first coat of X mascara was very light, almost like I have nothing on, second coat was almost the same, to create my desired look, which was still natural looking took several coats before letting the other coats dry. For it to look natural you have to get the wand to the base of your lashes and give the wand a wiggle all the way up to the tip this way you are coating all your lashes evenly. Another trick I felt I had to do to get my look quicker was to use the tip and coat my lashed with mascara before brushing through, When I finished my lashes did look longer and glossier, which is always a plus. Eventually with loads of coats you can create you desired look, which lasts well throughout the day. There was no fall out and the mascara stayed put throughout the day while staying soft and not crispy but unfortunately your desired look does not. My curl dropped half way through the day and my lashes seemed to droop. I continued to apply this mascara every day but gradually the packaging is annoying me more and more, every time I take the wand out I have to wiggle it out slowly otherwise the brush is coated in mascara, which I have to scrape off on the sides of the tube. Because X is a soft mascara you have to be careful not to rub your lashes by accident, and if you have runny eyes stay away as this will be on your cheeks more than your lashes, defiantly not a wedding mascara. Even when your mascara has been on for a few hours and you know it is dry it is easily smudged. I am disappointed in this mascara from MAC that happened to cost me more than other brands that I use and like and that deliver better results, I needed so many coats to make it look like I have something on, easily smudged even when dry and the packaging is terrible. I will continue to use this only because of the price I paid and I don't like waste. But I will not be re-purchasing, or purchasing another mascara from MAC. As MAC is a multi-million pound industry I can't see why they can't produce higher quality mascaras and packaging like their rivals? Everyone was right after all, stay away from MAC's mascaras.
MAC is a trusted brand when it comes to make up and I thought I was making a good purchase when I brought this mascara for £10.00. I wanted a mascara that builds up my lashes and makes them appear longer and fuller (even though I have very full lashes and have no need to wear fake lashes). The mascara comes in two shades (brown and black), and I opted for the classic black. I find the mascara inadequate to the job which I thought it will do. The mascara isn't that great, think it can be worn during the day, for a more casual look. The coverage isn't that great, and it doesn't actually. It doesn't actually add any volume or fullness to my eye lashes, and it doesn't actually add any curve to the lashes. To be honest I was very disappointed with the buy, I ended up using it for work, but I won't be purchasing it anymore!
Four words that immediately grab my attention..Thicker,longer looking eyelashes ! Time and time again I have been seduced by those words, the promise of the wide eyed and innocent look really appeals to me ! MAC produce a very large range of high quality cosmetics that are exported all over the World. Trend Bags..An array of fashionable quilted make up bags to hold all of your MAC goodies. I paid £9.95 for my MAC mascara x (plus £2 p+p) from EBay. The Brush is fascinating,MAC describe it as being `football` shaped,I would have said it was more of a rugby ball shape ! I always stick to the same routine when applying mascara, apply all of my other make up first and then the mascara goes on last. I coat the brush liberally and the mascara looks thick and lustrous on the brush..I apply one layer,it doesn't appear to have formed any clumps..so I let the first layer dry. The second layer builds the length a little more.MAC X has a protein that has been derived from vegetables to strengthen the lashes and Panthenol conditions them too. The shaped brush is brilliant for applying the mascara to the lower lashes,it lets you gently roll the mascara over even the tiniest of lashes. My eyelashes definitely look longer and more defined..I have chosen the Black X mascara..it comes in Dark brown too. It had a good test run while I spent the day at work, and although there was the tiniest of smudges in the corners of both my eyes, the remainder stayed fresh and in place. I removed it later on in the evening, using cotton pads and eye make up remover..it came off well. It didn`t irritate my eyes or cause any soreness either. The product has been ophthalmologist tested, and I am more than pleased with the end result !
Mac is a brand that I trust when it comes to make up and although it is on the expensive side it is a brand that it used by the leading make up artists and has a great reputation so it is one to purchase time and time again. Mac will never let you down and the item is on the expensive side but it is a product that I find last a long time and is worth every penny as I use a minimal amount. My friend is a make up artist and when I asked her what is the best mascara she would recommend she said Mac Mascara X and she was not wrong this is a great product. Mascara X helps your lashes to look longer and thicker whilst it helps to strengthen and condition the lashes. The applicator is also shaped well to help apply the mascara whilst also helping to apply with the minimal amount for the greatest effect. This mascara is great and it helps you to get those lashes that every girl wants long and false looking without having to apply false eye lashes which is great as if you are like me i have never been lucky enough to be able to apply them without them falling off or looking strange. I have also found that this mascara does not clump like a lot of cheaper brand mascaras that are on the market. The shades that Mascara X comes in is dark brown and black which is great, I use the black one which makes my eyes along with the mac pigment stand out and look great. With the help of eye make up remover this product is easy to removed. This is a great product that I recommend that you use, it looks great and what's more it leaves you eyelashes looking great too. If you want a designer mascara for that special occasion I recommend that this is the one that you try.
This MAC mascara is currently being sold for £10.00 and comes in 2 shades. I picked this up about 3 months ago, I wanted a good mascara that builds the lashes, makes them appear longer and fuller and this is what the make up artist at MAC recommended to me. I got the black one, I would have gotten it in another shade but this only comes in black or brown and since I've got dark lashes and eyes, I wanted this to show up nicely and look more dramatic and I didn't feel that the brown would give me that. I asked the make up artist to try some on me but she wasn't allowed to use the brush that comes with the mascara (for hygienic reasons). The disposable applicators that she applied the mascara with didn't do that good a job but she ensured me that if I try it again at home with the correct brush, I'd get much better results. So, the next day I thought I'd try this with the actual mascara wand and see if I got the effects I was looking for. I didn't get the dramatic look I described to her but found that it did coat my lashes and didn't clump. It also added a little length and a bit of a curl but nothing too noticeable. I'd say this mascara is ok for an everyday look, but when I want something more flashy and daring, I'll opt for my Lancome hypnose mascara. These MAC ones are about half the price of a Lancome mascara, so it's quite good and gives a nice effect for daytime make up.
This mascara is brilliant. I reccomend it to everyone. It makes lashes look full without looking clumpy. It really makes them look longer and thicker, just as it is supposed to! It doesn't dry out and flake but just stays put all day. The brush applicator is quite round and I think its quite big, which is great for upper lashes but can make the lower ones a little tricky. I did take a while to get used to applying it and I did start off accidently getting blobs on my eyelid. However after a few tries it seems to get easier and you get used to it. Once you get the technique right it look fantastic. I was also pleased that I didn't seem to get such a big lump of mascara at the tip of the brush applicator as I have done with some other mascaras. All in all MAC seem to be a great brand and this mascara fits in well with the high expectations I have with this brand.
For thicker, longer looking eyelashes /
