“ Brand: L'Oréal / Mascara / What it does: volumizeses, „
My Mum actually gave me this mascara because she found that it irritated her eyes. I was slightly worried it might irritate mine too but after using it several times I haven't had any irritation at all from it and I've been reasonably impressed with how long and volumised my lashes look after using it.
It usually retails at around £11 I think which I personally think is a little expensive considering the lasting power & the not so great formula. I wouldn't have bought it my self anyway due to ethical reasons (L'oreal test the ingredients of their products on animals).
The mascara is available in three shades as far as I know, which includes black, brown and 'extra black' - I have it in extra black which is a very dark, intense shade of black. The mascara comes in a nicely designed tube and the brush is pretty big. The brush is plastic with lots of sharp, flexible bristles, which I didn't like the look of but they actually apply the mascara really evenly & precisely and coat every lash in the formula while separating them.
The formula is a little too runny for my liking and it has a kind of sticky, greasy, wet feeling to it which means that after I apply it I have to try not to blink for a couple of minutes! The mascara does dry though rather than just staying like that and once it's dry it doesn't flake or anything.
The mascara lengthens my lashes, however I find the finish a little strange because it gives no curl and not very much lift so my lashes look really straight, I prefer mascaras which lift the lashes as this makes my eyes look wider and brighter but the mascara does still look nice. As well as adding length my lashes always look thicker too and the overall look after 2-3 coats is natural looking but my lashes look a lot longer, thicker and volumised.
The colour of the mascara - a dark, rich shade of black also really defines them and makes them stand out that bit more. The lasting power isn't too good, I find that it begins to smudge and gather around the bottom of my eyes and eyelids after about 4 to 5 hours and I noticed yesterday when it was around 22 degrees that the mascara began looking old and worn after only a couple of hours. Despite the lasting power not been very good it is actually really difficult to remove and I've pulled a couple of lashes out by mistake while attempting to remove it with a make-up remover wipe!
When I've removed it my eyes always feel quite sticky from where the mascara has been so I need to my eyes afterwards. All in all I'm not too sure how many stars I think the mascara deserves. Had the lasting power and formula been better I'd have given it five out of five stars due to the length & thickness it gives my lashes, but then again I'm not keen on the lack of curl. I think I'm going to give it three out of five stars and although I won't be buying another tube once this one is finished, I do recommend it as long as you don't mind sticky mascara!
I originally got this mascara in a free gift box from L'Oreal when I was stocking up on foundation. It has never been one that I use every day because it is supposed to have a bit of sparkle in it. However, I have never noticed the sparkles but nonetheless this is pretty good mascara.
This comes in a pretty chunky tube with a slight sparkle to it and a gold lid. Overall it has a nice high end feel to the mascara and because the tube is quite chunky is very easy to use.
The brush is a standard silicone/plastic design which is quite thick and tightly packed with the bristles themselves quick short (obviously to volumise the lashes) - however, the best thing about the brush is that it comes with an anti-clump devise. From what I can work out the neck of the mascara narrows so it removes any clumps when you use it making the mascara clump free which is great.
According to L'Oreal this is supposed to "millionize your lashes for a maxed-up, fanned-out effect" and the Diamantissime variety is supposed to have added diamond powder for added sparkle. However, I have to say I have never noticed any sparkle on my lashes when I have used this. Instead, it's pretty good black mascara but don't expect anything particularly wow for evening.
The design of the brush is very good so it goes on clump free (thanks to the nifty neck design) and it really does volumise the lashes. I am quite lucky in that I have quite long lashes so like to make them look slightly fuller and this does that really well. The brush separates and fans out the lashes and the do look fuller. However, it doesn't really curl the lashes so you will need to use an eyelash curler with this mascara but that isn't a problem at all. I also find that with some mascaras (particularly with Boots no7 for some reason) that I get a bit of a panda eye effect - even when I just apply the mascara to the top lashes - but this mascara has good staying power and lasts all day which is great. Overall it is a very good mascara and my lashes do look a lot fuller.
This appears to have been just available in the free gift from what I can tell but the standard Volume Million Lashes mascara from L'Oreal is priced at £10.99 in places like Boots and comes in black, extra black and waterproof. I would probably try the black or extra black in future because I liked the look of this mascara even if there was no real sparkle.
I've worn mascara everyday for years now, it's the staple beauty item that I just couldn't leave the house without. This particular mascara by L'Oreal Paris is the "Volume Million Lashes" brand but this version has the added bonus of tiny sparkles! L'Oreal Paris dares you to not just volumize but millionize your lashes. I was given this mascara as part of a Christmas gift.
The packaging of this mascara is really nice and I think it makes the product look very high end. The cap is a shiny gold colour whilst the barrel is black with silver glitter all over it. On the front we have the product name in black writing on a strip of shiny silver and then "diamantissime" written in gold on the black glittery background. On the back of the package there is a small diagram displaying the mascara wand with information beneath saying "new brush + anti clump wiper".
The current price for this mascara is £10.99 you can purchase the product from places like Superdrug/Boots or online.
Thick mascara wand with varying sizes of rubber spindles so that every lash is caught. The wand also comes to a point at one end to make it easier to reach the inner and outer corners of your eye. The mascara also has an anti clump wiper which is situated in the barrel, this applies pressure to the mascara wand on removal meaning that no big clumps of mascara are left on the wand.
I personally think this is a really good mascara. The wand is very good and also very flexible meaning it coats lashes evenly and gently. The liquid is very dark for this black mascara which I like because I enjoy the more dramatic effect. The mascara separates lashes perfectly and does not leave lashes looking clumpy or stuck together. The main selling point of this mascara though is that it includes very small pieces of glitter. These pieces are so tiny and do not cause any irritation to the eye. They add a nice effect especially if going on a night out and really compliment the eye making it pop. Looking at the wand you can barely see the glitter but when applied to the eyelashes it becomes noticeable, it's not over the top either it is very subtle and pretty. You will notice just how much glitter is within the liquid mascara mix when removing the product with a make up remover pad or wipe!
From my experience this mascara has a good staying power, I never feel the need to top it up and it always lasts on a late night out!
I would definitely recommend this mascara but more as a night out or all done up mascara not necessarily for everyday use however the glitter is subtle and so it could be used everyday as well.
L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes
I have recently bought several mascaras and when I bought this ne in Boots I was given a free gift, and I am an absolute sucker for free gifts!
This promises to give maximum volume to lashes. It apparently has a special brush which has a multitude of bristles to separate lashes for a fanned-out effect. As well as all of this, it has an excess wiper to remove excess mascara so the result should be no overload, and no clumps. It also claims to give lashes a bit of a sparkle.
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...
The mascara tube is quite a chunky one with a gold screw on off lid. It is black all over with very small gold sparkles covering the whole tube. The name of the product is written on a sparkly silver stripe and the side of the tube shows me the special brush. It's all very shiny and when in my make up bag impossible to mistake for something else.
When I unscrew the lid and take out the wand I find that the brush itself has short bristles which thicken and lengthen towards the centre of the wand and which are quite tightly packed together. I am not sure where the excess wiper is so can assume only that it is inside the wand and wipes off the excess mascara when I pull the wand out of the tube because it does pull slightly when I take the wand out, and there is certainly no excess mascara left on the wand.
I have the black and the product is available in blacker than black (whatever that is) and waterproof black. This one is nice and black and when I apply it does add plenty of black to my lashes making them look nice and dark.it doesn't clog on my lashes and does as it promises and separates my lashes effectively although I am not sure about the fanning of my lashes.
When I test the mascara on my hand I cant see any sparkle but it does become a little apparent when I apply it to my lashes although not so much so that it's inappropriate for day time wear but just enough to look a bit shiny.
APPLYING AND REMOVING...
The mascara should be applied like usual mascaras by sweeping across the eye lashes from root to tip. This it does nice and smoothly and gives good even coverage with one application. Because it is not waterproof I find that it is easily removed using my normal eyemake up remover.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY...
The mascara is available in chemists and supermarkets. RRP is £10.99 but at the moment the mascara comes free with other purchases made at Boots.
A nice mascara which makes my lashes look nice and thick without clumping them together. Not sure whether the claims of the sparkle are worth mentioning because I could see no sparkle certainly on my upper lashes although my shorter lashes looked slightly sparkly.
Decent enough if a bit pricey. I wouldn't rush to buy this but neither would I avoid it if I needed a new mascara
Thanks for reading
I adore beauty products and apply full make up every time I leave the house, as I feel totally naked without it. When it comes to mascara I cannot admit to having made a purchase for well over a year due to the fact that I am fortunate to frequently obtain free full size products as well as smaller sized free samples. One of my latest finds is a 8.5 ml tube belonging to L'Oreal, which isn't a brand that I generally consider for my make-up items. The product name is Volume Million Lashes Diamantissime, which is a black mascara and is presented in the most stunning packaging with a combination of eye-catching glossy black, gold and silver sparkles.
Diamentissime forms part of the new glittering shine make up collection with each of the products allegedly containing real diamond powder, which is intended to offer a little sparkle and to enhance the features. In addition to this rather bold claim I was intrigued to learn that the mascara is fitted with an anti-clump wiper, which is a new concept for me and for all those consumers who wear mascara, you will share my frustrations with the issue of clumping when attempting to remove the wand from the tube in readiness for application. It is further claimed that due to the multitude of brushes the mascara will not only volumise the lashes, but will separate them to create a stunning fanned out effect. Whilst I consider my eyes to be one of my best features, unfortunately, I wasn't blessed with long lashes, so I rely solely upon the products I use to enhance their features.
On unscrewing the wand from the tube I was impressed with the appearance of the combination of short and long bristles, which are manufactured from plastic. I was also impressed with the applicator, which is flexible, so it enables an easy application process. The product is clearly unique, as when I withdrew the bristle area from the tube I was able to witness a slight popping sound, which I presume to be the anti-clump wiper, which is discretely contained inside the upper section of the tube. As a result, the bristles were sufficiently coated with the black mascara without the need for me to gently wipe any excess on the top of the tube.
I favour small application brushes as opposed to the large ones that are provided by some brands, as it enables a more defined and precise application without blobbing the skin situated beneath the eyes. The applicator was extremely easy to hold and enabled me to effortlessly work the mascara along my upper and lower lashes with great ease. The colour was intense and offered a dramatic appearance although I found it necessary to apply two coats; both of which were rapid drying. I am unable to agree with L'Oreal's claim that lashes will appear three times thicker, but I was definitely pleased with the results. A problem I often experience with some brands of mascara is that tiny particles will disperse into my eyes and as a result, cause irritation. In addition, some brands of mascara will smudge slightly, particularly in the outer corners, but I cannot speak of any such problems. Unfortunately, I am unable to speak of any sparkle due to the claimed diamond powder ingredient, which as far as I am concerned is nothing but a sales gimmick.
The mascara did not clump during application and whilst it was obvious that I was wearing mascara, it did not offer an over made up appearance or spidery lashes, which is a look that I cannot bear. It fully lived up to its claims of fanning out my lashes, which gave the impression that they were fuller and more volumised. I regularly apply my make up for work at approximately 7.15 am and remove some eleven hours later and I am pleased to report that the mascara remained perfectly intact throughout the day. I'm not a fan of waterproof mascaras, particularly as I remove my make up effortlessly with the aid of cotton wool and baby lotion. Thankfully, the mascara was not waterproof, so removal was an effortless task. However, the mascara can also be purchased in an extra black version as well as in waterproof black.
I was well impressed with L'Oreal's Volume Million Lashes Diamantissime and will definitely make a purchase once all of my current stock of freebies has been exhausted. At the time of writing, you can purchase this mascara from a Boots high street store for £10.99 and when spending over £15 in the L'Oreal make up range you will be able to receive a free gift box worth £28, which contains several L'Oreal freebies; one of which is a tube of this mascara. Whilst the mascara is readily available in store, for some strange reason it cannot be purchased from Boots website.
Despite the mascara failing to offer any sparkle, I was extremely pleased with the results and as a result it receives five stars from me together with a high recommendation.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
