Always used L'oreal mascaras, usually there false lash effect one in the gold tube but I saw this and decided to try it - absolutely great! I do have long eye lashes anyway but with this mascara they look extra long, thick and really nice with little effort. I use two coats and by the time I have done one eye the other eye is dry to go over, full application to my standard (which is bordering on twigs!) takes less than 5 minutes in the morning and it lasts all day! No need to reapply.
It kind of sets your eye lashes, they feel very hard and removing it can be awkward does take a good scrub to get it off or if you're like me and have the awful habit of pulling it off then it comes off then thick blobs but you don't buy a mascara for how it comes off.
Have recently found this half price to retail price on Amazon and with free p&p!
I bought this mascara as i liked the size of the brush it is quite chunky so i thought that it would stand by its word of building extra volume, but sadly i was wrong.
The tube is black and quite wide, as it has to hold a thick brush inside, with cold writing on the front with the brand name and some product information. The lid is quite large as well so it can be quite uncomfortable to hold until to get used to using that wand.
I bought the mascara in black as i like to create thick dark, fake looking lashes. As i previously mentioned the brush is quite thick, but that is something that i like as i feel i am getting all of my lashes. The mascara is highly pigmented so does turn your lashes a jet black colour. I find the mascara does not build much volume though, i takes about three coats for a day look and more for a night like. This is a crazy amount of mascara to apply a day and i feel it makes my eyelashes more heavier than anything. I also find that as i have to apply that amount of coats to make some attempt of volume, the lashes can become quite clumped and i do not like that effect on my eyes i would rather them be thick but long and elegant, not thick short and clumpy.
Overall i would not recommend this mascara as it needs too many coats to look like you have made any attempt of creating volume and that causes the eyelashes to clump. Do not bother wasting your time or money.
I bought this mascara in a 2 pack on the plane on, on my way to Spain. It was 2 for £16, So I thought it would be worth a try. I tend to be quite impressed with the loreal range so the idea of a 'collagen' mascara sounded great.
So would I buy this mascara again? No. This mascara seems very wet. I suppose I wouldn't mind if it worked brilliantly when it eventually dried but even then I wouldn't say it was that great, you could tell I had mascara on but no real benefits. (just bear in mind my lashes are extremely short and thin). I tend to see a benefit in mascaras when I put a few coats but this was just too wet to wait around for it to dry. When I did eventually manage to put a few coats on it then became very clumpy towards the end of my eyelashes, which didn't look great.
When using this mascara on my lower lashes, I had to wipe away the excess that transferred onto my face. Later on in the day it would almost crumble on my face so I would not recommend buying this mascara!
PS: it also has a funny smell, which I didnt like. The only thing that i liked was the deep black colour, other than that, Nothing!
I, like a lot of ladies, use mascara on a daily basis. I apply one or two coats for day-time wear and two or three coats for night-time wear. I also top my mascara up in the evenings before I leave work to ensure that I look my best when I meet my husband. I find that mascara, along with foundation, is one of my real 'must wear' items and even if I'm pressed for time or not wanting lots of make-up on I will always be wearing mascara. Because of this a tube lasts me around 2 months but then as this makes such a difference to my face and my confidence I don't mind at all and I am always looking for the next 'must have' mascara (just like those perfect jeans, so elusive!).
I've actually seen this mascara advertised and while I don't often buy mascara on the adverts (just because it always says at the bottom that the models are styled with lash inserts) I was chuffed when I received this for free after visiting a link I spotted on moneysavingexpert. I actually didn't use this for a couple of months because I was using up a Rimmel mascara and had a Body Shop one waiting too! This mascara has probably been around for about 9-12 months now judging by the adverts that I saw and when I received my free one. Should you want to buy one after reading my review you can find them in a variety of places, including Ocado.com for £9.99.
This mascara comes in a standard sized mascara tube and it is black packaging that makes it look stylish in my make-up bag. There isn't a massive amount of branding on this tube which I like as it doesn't seem over the top like the Rimmel one that I was using. When removing the wand from the tube I noticed that the applicator part is quite a bit larger than with a standard mascara wand. This is a plus point for me and I like the end where the bristles become smaller as this is ideal for getting in to the corners of my eyes.
When it comes to applying this mascara it is very simple, like most really. Basically I remove the wand and there is always an ample amount of mascara to coat one set of eyelashes thoroughly and then I push it back in to the bottle and remove again before coating my other eyelashes. This takes just a moment or two and one coat goes on wonderfully easily and smoothly. There are no clumps for me but then I do scrape any excess off around the end of the tube just to avoid wastage. This mascara is particularly wet compared to others and therefore it does take a few minutes to dry thoroughly as I learnt recently when I sneezed (thanks to a new perfume) and smudged it all over my eye shadow and underneath my eye and had to wipe it off and start again! Generally I like to apply this, go and iron my shirt if I'm going to work or get my top ready if I'm not and then I have to wait a moment or two just to be sure that it has dried completely. This might sound like a big deal but it really isn't for me to ensure that my look is perfect.
After applying this mascara it is fair to say that I do notice a staggering difference to my eyelashes. My lashes look more defined, they are much darker and there are no clumps either. My lashes look thicker and more definer as well as appearing longer too. They definitely have a lovely curl to them after using the wand for this mascara and in all it is fair to say that I don't have anything bad to say about this mascara at all.
I love how the wand is larger and overall I love the look of my lashes. I feel confident after using this mascara and while I may be biased as mine was a freebie I would definitely buy this in the future. When it comes to removing this mascara I find it simple enough to do using a cleansing wipe and a few gentle wiping motions along my lashes. I haven't noticed an increase in lashes falling out or anything either so that's another plus point. It does take a few seconds more than some other mascaras to dry however I feel that the look afterwards more than makes up for this. This is definitely a very black mascara and it looks fantastic on my eyelashes. When I apply more than one layer I follow my preferred method of application and be sure to remove excess mascara from the wand on the edge of the tube. I definitely didn't need to apply much of this mascara and that is fantastic in my opinion, this mascara gets a 5 out of 5 from me.
I always pick up some l'oreal make-up when it is on offer in boots as the 3 for 2 deals really make it good value. I had been wanting to try the Mega Volume Collagene Mascara for a while after seeing the ad for it.
A couple of girl friends had used it and had nothing but praise for it so I was curious to see what it was like.
It is supposed to be one of the darkest mascaras that you can get thanks to the pigments in it and the collagen was supposed to really help thicken lashes and make them appear bigger and more dramatic.
It comes with a bigger brush than most mascaras which is what is supposed to coat your lashes individually and without clumping.
It is also more expensive than most high street brands of mascara at £10.99 so I was expecting good things from it. Unfortunately I didn't really think it was as amazing as I had been led to believe. The colour of the mascara is the best thing about it and it really is a lovely rich deep black and when it is on your eye lashes it does leave them looking intense and immediately after one coat my eyelashes already looked darker and more defined by a considerable amount.
It is when I came to layer the mascara that I found problems with it. Although it is supposed to not clump I found that in fact it actually did clump whenever I tried to add more than one coat. The first coat goes on perfectly and looks great but if I wanted a more dramatic look say for a night out and tried to build up a few layers it would just clump and stick my lashes together and not look very good at all.
I really liked the brush that came with this mascara as it was big enough to be able to get loads of the mascara on but not so big that it was awkward to use or touching my skin when I was applying it.
It also did do a good job of separating and coating each individual eye lash with just one application. If I was only looking for a day mascara that I wanted to apply once to give my lashes a bit of colour then this would be ideal but as I actually bought it for a night time mascara the fact it clumps when trying to layer it just doesn't make it suitable for that.
Other than the gorgeous colour this mascara was a waste of money for me personally as it just didn't do what I wanted it to do. My friends still rave about it and I do wonder if maybe there was something wrong with the formulation of mine to cause it clump so badly but as it is on the expensive side I won't be buying it again to find out if that is the case or not.
Like most people I find buying mascara one of the hardest selections when buying make-up as you never know if you have good one until you are home.
I generally buy my mascara from Boots when the deals are on, in the past this has sometimes worked and has lead me to buying some fantastic products and other times I have been very disappointed.
Now where does this particular macara perform I hear you ask. Well the L'Oreal Mega Volume Collagen Mascara does exactly what it says it does. It makes my lashes look longer and thicker and it lasts most of the working day, without too many dark marks under the eye (I will usually check my make-up once a day during my lunch break).
It is easy to apply and is easily removed with a good make up remover (I use the non waterproof one as I always feel non waterproof mascara is better).
The brush is slightly curved which allows me to cover more lashes which adds to a better effect. The draw back is that the end of the brush does get very clumpy. I use a tissue to wipe away the clumps but it is still clumpy when put on my eye lashes and my eye lashes do tend to stick together. Although I have to say this is a more recent occurance and was not the case when I first got the mascara (I've had it about a month and a half).
It's price is reasonable, I think it sits at around £9.99 although I bought mine in the offer. This is pretty standard for a highstreet branded mascara.
So a bit of a mixed review really. When the mascara is new it is fabulous and really works well however it soon goes clumpy and this does let it down.
I bought this product roughly 6 months ago when I was looking for a new mascara in boots. I tend to buy whatever is new or something I haven't tried before, as I like to use different mascaras. Over the years I have tried pretty much everything and usually have at least 10 mascaras on the go at one time.
This mascara is from L'oreal who I tend to think are a bit hit or miss with mascaras. They are either really great or absolutely terrible and there never seems to be an in between. It is always a bit of a risk for me buying one because I can never tell if it will be good and they do tend to be more expensive than most other high street brands.
This mascara comes in a black plastic tube with a white stripe down the side. There is minima branding or information on the tube which gives it a very modern, clean and sleek looking design. I think it actually looks very expensive and good quality just from the design of the tube. This gave my high hopes for the mascara as I loved the product design already.
The brush for the mascara is a lovely wide bristle brush with even spaced bristles that tapers towards one end. I love a really wide brush as they tend to be great for both volume and length. The brush is coated really well in the mascara fluid, which is lightweight and wet. I have used this for 6 months and the mascara fluid has not clumped or hardened at all, it is still as wet and lightweight as it was when I first bought it. This is really great as most mascaras tend to dry out and become unusable whereas this one is still in a really good condition.
Applying the mascara is easy to you, it coats your lashes really well and adds both length and volume. It isn't the most amazing mascara I've ever used and with more than one coat it does tend to clump. Also because it is wet it takes a little while to dry. That said, I do like using it and the results are really nice as long as you stick to one coat. The mascara fluid is a lovely deep black and my eyelashes always look really nice with one coat. I tend to use another mascara over the top to reach those tricky side lashes, as this mascara barrel is too wide to reach them.
My biggest issue with this mascara has to be the price. It retails at roughly £10.99 which is ridiculously expensive for what is essentially a high street brand mascara. There are certainly cheaper ones out there that offer the same, and sometimes better, results at a fraction of the price. I think if this was priced at £7 I would consider it a good deal, but at £4 over that price I cannot justify buying what is a fairly standard mascara.
Overall, I would recommend the mascara but not at this price.
Having tried many many mascaras over the years and being sorely disappointed and let down by many of them I was pleased following my purchase of this one to find that it pretty much ticks all the boxes, and for the right price too!
It cost me £7.99 from Boots, however this was a special offer at the time and I believe the normal price is around £9.99. There are often different deals on make up in different shops though so it's worth looking round.
Firstly I like this mascara because it has a traditional 'bristly' brush, rather than one of the plastic brush / comb things that many seem to have these days (the ones which promise to eliminate clumping but only succeed in clogging all my eyelashes together!). It is a biggish brush but of a size that still enables you to get to the smaller lashes. Secondly I like it's very dark pigment, I find some mascaras to just not be black enough but this is great in that respect! Thirdly it has minimal clumps and does not flake or spread around my eyes to give that panda look by half way through the day.
In addition it is very easy to remove with any normal eye make up remover.
Basically, it does everything I want a mascara to do and although I will still use my fave Lancome mascara for going out (as that one does basically all the same as this but also makes my lashes look longer, although it does cost twice the price!) I will definitely buy this one again and use it as my every day one.
It's never easy choosing what make-up products to purchase, let alone mascara. There are so many different brands, different styles, colours, prices, but want you want is value for money. It is true what they say - 'you get what you pay for' because the more you spend, the better the quality. With L'Oreal Mega Volume Collagen Mascara, it does exactly what it says. If you are after long, thick, dark lashes with a lot of volume this is the mascara for you. It has a long wand and thick bristles, it is easy to apply and makes a big difference to the look of your eyelashes. You can change the way you use it, a few strokes will give you a light, natural look to your eyelashes. Or, alternatively you can gradually build up the mascara on your eyes to create that big eyes and dark lashes effect. The results are fabulous, and the mascara will last all day or all night without the need to re-apply. I have found a lot of mascaras to start to crumble after a long days wear, but this one doesn't - it stays put! You can easily remove this mascara with eye make-up remover or a baby wipe. And, last but not least, a tube of this mascara lasts me about 3-4 months, if not more! So even though it may sound expensive as it is around the £10 mark in most retailers, it works out at only around £2.50-£3.50 a month, which isn't too bad at all! Not to mention that L'Oreal is usually always on 3 for 2 offers at well known retailers! Also, you might be able to find one of these mascaras for a bargain price on ebay!
