      a novelty lip frosting

~Lip Frosting~ Lip Frosting is a lipgloss product offered by Jelly Pong Pong. Lip Frosting has been designed to give your lips a glossy sheen and is a sheer 'cherry' colour. Lip Frosting contains a few key ingredients which work together to keep your lips in a healthy condition : *Aloe vera extract - anti-inflammatory and healing properties *Grapeseed oil - to moisturise *Vitamin E - to prevent signs of ageing *Beeswax - a softening agent and antiseptic emolient Lip Frosting is described as having a 'scrumptious dessert' scent which is noted as 'Irish Cream Pavlova' on the tube. The tube itself is described as being 'fat' and is made of white and light pink tinted plastic with a screw off lid. It is noted that you can use a small amount of this frosting on your cheeks for a glow. ~Price and Availability~ A tube has an 18month shelf life. It can be purchased online from www.beautyboxx.co.uk priced at £8.00. It is also available from www.jellypongpong.com at £10.00 per tube (15ml). ~My Thoughts~ My sister gave me a tube of Lip Frosting a few months ago. Until then, I had never tried the Jelly Pong Pong range. Marketed as having a dessert scent, my sister knew this would be right up my street. I quite like it but it isn't my favourite lip product to use for a few different reasons. The tube, in my opinion, is too fat for a lipgloss. I prefer a brush or at least a slanted applicator to apply my lipglosses with but this has neither - it has quite a large opening which really isn't shaped well for slicking across the lips. For that reason, I usually squeeze a small amount of Lip Frosting on to my finger and apply it that way. This product has quite a thick consistency which and is a deep cherry red shade. I will admit, I was put off by the strong colour of this Lip Frosting as I have pale skin and feared it may look a little too heavy on my lips. Despite being quite thick, this Lip Frosting is easy to smooth across my lips. Only a small blob, well a tiny blob to be more specific, is required to fully coat my lips. Lip Frosting does feel a little heavy at first on my lips but soon I forget that I am wearing it. It feels very moisturising and rather conditioning which I like as I have dry lips and doesn't feel overly sticky. I feel comfortable wearing it and it hasn't irritated my lips at all. The colour of Lip Frosting isn't as strong on the lips as in the tube. It gives my lips a beautiful pink tint which looks healthy and not over the top at the all. My lips have a nice sheen to them which looks good and not unnatural in the slightest. The scent of this Lip Frosting smells amazing the tube - creamy and succulently sweet but more like sweeties than Irish Cream Pavlova. I wouldn't say it leaves a sweet coating on my lips though which I would have appreciated. It just tastes like any other lipgloss but with a sweet smell at first. It doesn't last all that long as the colour starts to fade or transfer as soon as I take a drink or something to eat. It isn't practical to top up too often as it does get a little messy having to apply it with my fingers. I have tried it as a cheek tint too and much prefer a blusher or Benefit cheek tints. I found that this Lip Frosting was a little too thick to work with on my cheeks and whilst it left my cheeks flushed with a nice pink colour, it also left a sticky sheen too which I wasn't so keen on. ~Conclusion~ Not very practical to apply and the novelty of the sweet scent soon wears off but this Lip Frosting does leave my lips looking and feeling good for a short while. I wouldn't pay £10.00 for it but will happily use it as it was given to me. I can imagine it would appeal to younger lipgloss wearers. 3 stars. Thanks for reading :) x

        Disadvantages

        OK but could be better

I got a tube of Jelly Pong Pong Lip Frosting a few months ago in a beauty box. I was aware of the Jelly Pong Pong brand as I had spotted some of their soaps in a little gift shop, but this was the first product of theirs that I had tried. At first I thought that this was a coloured lip balm, however the tube states that it is a cream lip gloss which can also be dabbed onto the cheeks for a hint of colour. Jelly Pong Pong say that it has a sheer cherry colour and the product is scented 'like a scrumptious dessert'. My tube is actually called 'Irish Cream Pavlova' and this is the only flavour that shows on the website so I'm assuming that there is only one option available. The tube this comes in is quite large for a lip gloss, at 15ml. I am a little unsure of the design of the tube - it comes in a peach and white striped tube and it has a sort of silhouette design on it, although I am a loss to work out exactly what it is a silhouette of. I think the overall look of the tube is messy and I think it looks quite cheap. I think I tried this once or twice when I first received it, but have only got round to using it more regularly over the past couple of weeks. I had a bit of an accident which took some skin off my lip (ouch!) and it has left the colour of my lips uneven which looks bizarre to say the least. I searched through my make-up stash looking for something which would help even the colouring out and felt this would be perfect. I apply the lip frosting directly from the tube, which is a process I have found to be quite messy. The opening of the tube is not slanted like many similar products and I think it would be much easier to apply a little to a lip brush and then brush it on, as doing it my way can end up with a little excess that has to be wiped off, but what can I say I don't like to make life easy for myself! It is fair to say that the colour of the product is a fairly alarming bright pink shade, definitely not something I would have chosen for myself. Once on, I do find the shade much more pleasing - it gives a sheer pink glow and there is a subtle shimmer to the product which gives the lips a lovely sheen. I should note that my natural lip colour is quite dark, so those of you with a paler lip tone may find this a little too strong, colour wise. Once on my lips the product doesn't feel heavy at all and I don't find it particularly sticky, but I can feel that I am wearing it and it does give me the urge to press my lips together frequently. The gloss has a sweet scent to it - it reminds me of Love Heart sweets - but I don't really think it has much of a taste to it. The staying power of the product is OK, but as with most glosses it is not great. I am tempted to say that it lasts around an hour, providing I don't eat or drink. Unfortunately eating or drinking spell the end of this gloss and it has to be re-applied which is an irritation, but quite frankly to be expected with this sort of product. Although the product packaging states that this can be used as a cheek colour, I had not tried it that way until tonight, when I applied a dab to my cheeks for the purpose of this review. It rubbed onto my skin quite easily, although the pink tone looked incredibly bright on my cheeks. There was no way I would have left the house with my face that colour, despite blending as much as possible! What was worse though was the way it felt on my skin. It felt as though I had a plastic coating on my cheeks. It was an awful feeling and I only lasted around five minutes before I could no longer bear it and I ended up wiping it off with a face wipe! This gloss costs £10 and can be purchased from www.jellypongpong.com. I have never seen this for sale anywhere else, although as mentioned I have seen this brand in independent gift shops. I do feel that £10 is quite high for this product. It works quite well as a lip gloss, but it is messy to apply and doesn't last well, so I feel there care cheaper products out there that do the same thing and most likely come in a choice of colours. Overall I think this is an OK product, but I would not go out of my way to purchase another tube. The colour looks nice on the lips and it doesn't feel heavy or sticky, but it doesn't last too well, is messy to apply and overpriced for what it is.

        My new favourite lip gloss.

Jelly Pong Pong, ever heard of them? No neither had I until I received this little gem in July's Glossybox. Let me start by saying that I love lip gloss anyway. I always feel sexier with shiny lips, even if my boyfriend recoils in horror at the thought of me getting him sticky with lip gloss kisses. The tube is 15ml and costs £10, pretty expensive and a tad more than I'd normally spend on lip gloss but I will most definitely be repurchasing this when it's finished. The tube itself is okay looking with a cartoonish image of irish cream pavlova (the scent) on the front. It looks quite vintage and sweet with pink and cream stripes. Upon opening the tube I noticed that there's no real applicator for the gloss, just squeeze the tube and apply presumably with your finger. I would have much preferred a doe-foot applicator or just a thin nozzle to better control application. That being said it smells AMAZING. To me it has a kind of sweet bubblegum scent - but fruity too. The lip gloss is quite sticky and thick. In the tube it looks a vivid cherry pink but goes onto lips a much more sheer pink shimmer. It's a really lovely colour, and I was relieved when it wasn't as bright on my lips as I'm really pale and I prefer a more muted shade. The shimmer is pretty and leaves my lips looking plump and gorgeous (even if I do say so myself) Just be careful when applying - a little goes a looong way. Seriously. I found that this lip gloss was quite moisturising on my lips and was impressed with it's staying power (when I wasn't licking it off that is - tasty!) I wore it for the best part of 3 hours without reapplying which is good for me, I usually have my gloss out at least once an hour. Now onto my favourite aspect of this lip frosting - it can also be used as a cheek stain. Hurrah! I'm a massive fan of multi purpose products. Initially I was reluctant to put this on my face because it was so sticky but in the name of research I did. Again a tiny bit goes a long way, you really don't need much. It goes onto cheeks as a lovely pink rose colour. I have used it many times since on my cheeks and it is not sticky and heavy if you only use a small amount. It also has a kind of dewy finish, which is lovely. I am absolutely besotted with this lip gloss, can you tell? I love everything about it and it's already my go to lip gloss. Sorry L'Oreal Glam Shine.

          Not one I would reccomend

This is a review of Jelly Pong Pong lip frosting which I received in a beauty box recently to try out. I love lipgloss and wear it every day so I am always pleased to find a new product to try. I had heard of Jelly Pong Pong (who would forget that name?!) but thought it was a brand for little girls but in fact it is for adults too and quite a cult brand. What is it? The lip frosting is titled irresistibly as being Irish Cream Pavlova in contents and this immediately conjures up something which is a sweet treat. The tube is not in the usual style of lip gloss, in fact it reminds me more of a Burts Bees product in that the tube is short and squat, with a twist off tube lid and the contents do rush out at you when you open the lid there is no seal. In use As I mentioned, it is difficult to grab a small amount to use and you really only do need a small amount. The first thing I noticed is how sticky this gloss is. Yes gloss is always sticky but this is particularly so. The tube also mentions that you can use it on your cheeks for a bit of a glow but there is no way I would use this sticky stuff on my face other than lips as it just feels to sticky for cheeks. The claim Lip Frosting is formulated to coat your lips with a glossy sheen. Generously packed in a fat tube, it comes in a sheer cherry colour and is scented like a scrumptious dessert. Contents Grapeseed Oil: Keep lips moisturized Aloe Vera Extract: Contains healing and anti inflammatory properties Beeswax: Acts as an antiseptic emolient and softening agent. Vitamin E: Promotes healing and prevents signs of aging. Price and availability A tube on the Jelly Pong Pong website is priced at £10 (for 15ml) but they are currently sold out. I have noticed that the Jelly Pong Pong products sell quite cheaply on ebay in sets so you may be able to pick one up on there at the moment as there will be plenty flying about due to the Beauty Box contents often making their way onto this site. My thoughts I really didn't like this one. It was far too sticky and just held no definition on my lips. The pinky red tinge of the product made me look like I had smeared jam around my mouth and the stickiness matched this too. The smell was nice and it had an OK taste to it but I just didn't like the texture. The tube lets out far too much product in one go too so it is hard to just put a dab on your lips. Final word Not a lip gloss I will return to any time soon and definitely one to keep out of use on a windy day!
