I bought this on one of my various hauls on the website. Here are my thoughts.
This is comes in a small see through tube, which has a very small nozzle. This makes it very easy to use just the right amount of product. There is elf written in silver on the front and as usual with these products it rubs off very easily. The tube seems quite temperamental as if it could easily burst. This is great size for the handbag though.
I find a lot of the elf face products to very orange and this is not exception. I have the lightest and even just usin a very small amont this gives my face a real orange tinge. This would not bother me if it covered any blemishes but it doesn't. Normally a tinted moisturiser is something I may use on lazy days just to give myself a quick base. This gives me confidence but means I can have a nearly makeup free day. I do not expect excellent coverage but this doesn't even cover the basics. This is also very good at highlighting any dry areas I may have.
This does not blend well either and due to the orange qualities it is not buildable.
This also not particulary moisturising it has the kind of oily effect some products do and after a couple of days wear actually made me break out. Every time I go back to this I get the same reaction and I do not have sensitive skin.
One positive thing is the smell it is similar to orange juice and I really like it.
This is in cheapest range at elf and so retails for just £1.50, unfortunately I do not thing this is worth it. It does not do what s fitted moisturiser should and there is very little product. In the UK this can only be bought form elf online.
I will to be buying this product again although I will continue purchasing other things from the site. It is such a shame that the face products could not be of the same high quality as all the other products.
This was one of the very first products i tried from E.L.F, i'd read about it in a magazine and having seen it was only £1.50 it seemed to good to be true!
When I first ordered it my first challenge was what shade to pick. You can pick one of 7 shades and I had to take a guess as to what one I would be. I'm not entirely sure I got it quite right! This is the problem with ordering cosmetics online however, and there isn't really a way to get over this until you've tried a few shades from the brand you are buying from.
The tube that this product comes in is really quite small, for £1.50 I don't think can be a point of complaint but if you were to use this on a daily basis i'm not sure it would last very long. The product has a scent to it 'sugar orange' which i'm really not keen on. Quite a few of e.l.f's products have this scent and to me it just smells synthetic.
How good this product is for you really depends on your skin I think. My skin at this time of year is particularly dry and quite honestly this moisturiser is just not enough for me. It just doesn't provide enough moisture and I can't help but think that by it being a 2in1 product that the quality of moisturiser is being compromised. My other gripe is that for me it doesn't last the day, I find that I have to keep re-applying.
Overall if you are on a really tight budget then this moisturiser might be ok, but honestly I do think there are better ones out there that are also quite reasonably priced (especially when you consider how much product you get).
I am an avid wearer of foundation even when I wear little else on my face to help me cover up imperfections, smooth over spots and even up my skin tone a bit. I pay alot usually for my foundation from Boots and am happy with the L'Oreal one that I am using at the moment. However in the warmer weather I prefer something a little lighter on my skin and something that contains a UVF/UVB and some SPF to help keep my skin in good condition and also allowing my skin to breath. This product from e.l.f.com (a company that sells an array of make up and make up related products online only) for only £3.50 a tube seemed very worth a trial run lately as I placed this order when I had a 50% off voucher delivered into my email account. Once you use this site once you get lots of offers from them including that and sometimes free delivery (worth £3.50 and if you have to pay this you pay that for as many items as you place per time) and sometimes you even get free gifts. Most items are only £1.50 or £3.50 and this of course at £3.50 seemed a good buy to me for this type of product.
Well the tube is mainly matt black in colour with a matching twist off lid to the bottom of it concealing a small hole and just above that there is a see-through section on there showing your colour option. On the front of the tube and in white writing we are told that it is e.l.f Tinted Moisturizer 'SPF 20, With Aloe, Cucumber And Vitamins A, C & E' and the weight of the product is stated which is 0.7oz (19.8g). On the back of the tube the colour is stated and contact details for e.l.f are given. This is a nice enough looking tube, easy to squeeze the product out of and is decent enough quality.
Using The Tinted Moisturiser:
Well you use this as you would do any moisturiser or foundation type of product and thats to dot some on a clean unmade up face and blend it in. The consistency of this is thin but not watery and feels soft to the touch and of course you can apply it with your fingers, a cosmetic sponge or foundation brush...however you do it this is easily blendable providing of course you opt for the right colour.
This isn't oily, contains no real smell to it and a little of it goes a long way. When on the skin it does feel cooling and comfortable on and it kind of sinks into the skin and dries though not mask like then of course you can apply other cosmetics products if you want to or wear this alone if you prefer.
I do find I need a little pressed or loose powder to help eradicate greasy patches on my face though this stays put for a good few hours, evening up my skin tone and leaving me fresh and smooth faced.
This gives me a nice, natural radiance and containing an Spf of 20 and generally helping me to keep my skin in good condition from the elements (even when the sun isn't shining!) this is a nice lightweight, unsticky and easy to use formulation that I have no problem recommending to anyone! Of course it is simple to remove with your usual make up removing routine and even when removed my skin feels soft, supple and smooth.
Available in 7 different shades, from very light to rather dark and I find the colour swatches shown on the site to be really accurate!
Only available from e.l.f.com
I picked this up as part of a recent bumper E.L.F. order, even though I thought it was probably not the best thing to buy online as I was bound to end up with the wrong shade!
E.L.F. stands for Eyes Lips Face and is an American cosmetics company that now sells its products in the UK as well. It's main attraction is the low, low prices of its cosmetics - most products cost a mere £1.50, as this one did, with some 'premium' products coming in at £3-£3.50.
This product is designed to "help combat premature ageing and protect against sun damage while leaving skin radiant and lightly hydrated". It has an spf of 15 which is an added bonus, and the product measures 12g. I opted for the shade 'honey', and there are seven shades available in total.
The little tube of moisturiser comes in its own box, and my first impressions of the tube itself was that it was quite small! However for the price this isn't really something I can complain about. The packaging itself is fairly unremarkable but simple, in keeping with all the E.L.F. range - it's a simple, see-through tube with some basic lettering. The lid unscrews and the applicator is thin and pointy. The design of this is good as it means you can dispense small amounts of the cream as needed. The website suggests you use a pearl-sized amount, but to be honest I find I need even less than this - although I do tend to prefer very light coverage.
Grease is the word?
Amazingly the colour of this cream turned out to be just right for my skin. It's a lightish beige colour which suits my light Asian skintone so, so far so good. I started off with a very small amount of this cream and I must say that a little goes a long way. It is quite easy to apply to the skin but it does have a slightly oily feel to it - not too much but it isn't as creamy as you may expect from a moisturising product - instead to me it is just a touch 'greasy'. However I would say the coverage is pretty good. As it is a tinted moisturiser rather than a foundation, it does give quite light coverage so it's not ideal if you prefer heavier coverage or if you're having a particularly bad day! Instead this is quite good for summer wear I think, or for complexions that don't need that much assistance to look good! It does even out any slight blemishes and overall I quite like the coverage it gives me. I do think it gives a very slight shine to skin though - I guess this is because of the slight oily texture. However this isn't a big problem and I don't mind this particularly. But if you want flawless, matt skin then this may not suit.
One thing that is very unusual about this product is that it's scented! I have never used a tinted moisturiser or foundation before that has had a fragrance so this is a bit odd at first, but I don't mind it - the smell is faintly of oranges and it isn't at all unpleasant I don't think - but I think it's important potential buyers are aware of this as it may be something that would put them off! Once the cream is on I can't smell this any more, which is probably a good thing!
I will also mention that this does need reapplying as the day goes on - you can't expect a product that's this cheap to stand the test of time! But I think you could get a full day's wear out of it, maybe touching it up once or twice a day.
The verdict ...
Overall for the price it is hard to fault this product and I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how decent it is. I probably wouldn't use it on a daily basis but if I need a quick bit of 'tarting up' before popping out, then this is really easy to apply for a quick fix and to make my skin look a little bit perkier. However I will deduct a star as it is a tiny bit greasy, and I am not convinced it would be great for all skin types. But for this price it may well be worth a try!
