I'm really not a fan of Rimmel products. I hate the mascara's and nail varnishes and dislike their eye shadows enormously. However I got this free with something (can't remember what) so it lives in my lipstick drawer and I wear it occasionally so I thought I'd share my thoughts with you all about it! The Packaging... Black plastic regular looking lipstick casing which you pull into two halves and when the lid is off you twist the bottom up and down to reveal or hide the colour. Around the outside I'm told on the front and back that it is Rimmel, London. On the bottom I have a colour coded label which is the same colour as my chosen lipstick and the name and number of my colour is written on there (in my case Spritz, 024). It's nice enough, plain packaging but do be aware that over time although the plastic doesn't seem to get scratched the silver writing does wear off and make the casing look very worn. (Please note the product packaging has changed to the look like the one in the review photograph since I have had mine but is exactly the same product). Using It.... Very easy. it comes off the block of colour very easily and on to the lips and it just glides on. Mine has a slightly gritty texture upon application because it contains glitter but once on it loses that feeling. It has a slight cosmetic smell to it but doesn't taste at all. The coverage is excellent but again mine is a slightly darker colour so I'd expect that and it looks glossy rather than dry or clumpy. It isn't greasy either. When using lipstick I like to apply, blot, apply and blot so I get decent coverage, it lasts a bit longer and doesn't get stickiness everywhere. However I'm more than happy to shape and define my lips with this and go (no blotting). It appears slightly shimmery, a little bit glossy and very grown up and sophisticated and not wet and gooey. However.... Expect one coat to vanish in about 20 minutes flat without doing nothing but have a chat. It just evaporates into thin air and does a complete runner. It looks lovely whilst it lasts but all I got left with after this one coat method was a complete fade out of colour and a wee bit of glitter left clinging to my lips. The good thing about this was that the bit of glitter stayed put and didn't flake anywhere. The first time this happened I simply wiped away the bit left on my lips with a piece of tissue and it came off easy with no fuss and no mess. The next time I simply reapplied over the top of what was left and was impressed that it wasn't any problem and didn't appear thick. However once again after applying it and eating drinking and having a fag I lost it all over again quick smart and yes it did transfer off on to things particularly my fingers as I smoked but yes it wiped off cleanly enough and didn't stain anywhere. The best way of using this is my usual preferred method. Apply, blot, apply blot. This gives about an hours wear but do realise you lose alot of the shine doing it this way and mine, well it gives a subtle colour to my lips. It doesn't transfer and doesn't feel heavy or greasy or dried out when worn this way. I'm quite happy to use it this way but missed my subtle shimmer. Final Thoughts.... It's an ok lip colour. The problem for me is it can't hold out for me. I can't be bothered to keep having to apply a product yet I love my chosen colour and I like the feeling on the lips which is unusual for me if you read my other reviews you'll see what a fussy madam I am. I like not being able to feel it too much and my lips not slapping about everywhere. After using it alone and seeing the effects and being really happy with my appearance to have to do it the other way, well I just felt a bit let down really. Would I recommend it? Well I wouldn't not but I wouldn't call it a must buy! Availability and Price.... Stocked in so many places including Boot's, Superdrug, Wilkinson's, Asda etc at about £4.49 per product.
