This is a mascara from collection 2000 (now just known as "collection"). I actually have the waterproof version of this product and so that aspect will feature in the review. The product claims to be ultra volumising and 100% waterproof, it states it's a mascara for a "big night out".
The packaging is similar to most mascaras but the most noticeable thing about this mascara is that the bottle is bigger and thicker, this I assume is to go along with the XXL branding. The main bottle is black and blue in my instance (blue for waterproof) but the normal branded mascara is black and pink/purple. The lid of mine is also bright blue. There's a sticker that can be peeled back on the lid to reveal the ingredients too. There is also an indication that there is 9ml of product. To reveal the mascara wand and use the product you simply unscrew the lid. The mascara wand is very big and thick and it slightly pointed towards one end to aid application.
This product can be purchased on eBay for £2-£3.
I was a bit disappointed with this mascara to be honest. Firstly I found that it clumped on the lashes on application, the consistency of the mascara was very thick and I did wonder whether it would apply smoothly - it didn't. I don't feel as though it added volume to my eyelashes it just left them quite lifeless and because the consistency of the mascara was so thick they almost drooped. I have quite long lashes and rarely suffer from this problem, it wasn't a good look! In terms of it's waterproof claim it did do a lot better. I tested it out firstly by splashing water on my eyes and it stayed put, when washing my face on the evening as well I figured I would try to remove the mascara by gentle washing my face (not rubbing too much on the eyes) and I must say most of the mascara remained where it was. For a cheap mascara I feel it performed well in terms of it's waterproof claim but not in terms of it's XXL claim.
In terms of staying power I feel it performed very well but I must admit this is down to the waterproof ability of the product. If the normal version of the mascara is similar to other collection brands then I don't feel the staying power would be brilliant.
Overall I was a bit disappointed with this mascara, I don't wear waterproof mascara very often and so despite it performing well in this area I was feeling let down by its other claim of boosting volume for the lashes. It's quite cheap but I've used other mascaras at the same price and sometimes cheaper that perform better.
When it comes to buying mascara I always find it a bit of a minefield with all the different brands, formulas and colours and of course prices!
The other week I needed a new mascara and so off to Boots I trotted and I decided price wise to go middle of the range cos it isn't something I wear very often but still when I do I want it to be ok and long wearing of course and I paid £4.99 for the only size this is available to purchase in which is 9ml.
This comes in a long and rather thick black plastic tube with a metallic pink twist on/off lid/cap/applicator to the top of it and on the very top of the lid there is a colour coded dot and we are clearly told the colour of it as we can see it too then on the front of the tube we are clearly told that it is XXL Volume Sensation and there is a decoration of grey and pink lines and little circles, then on the back of the tube the size is stated, we are told that from once opened to use it up within 6 months of doing so, we are told that it should give us 10 X More Volume and contact details for the manufacturer are given. It is a nice looking and nice robust tube this one and I like the size I got for my money too and was rather pleased with my purchase.
The Mascara Itself:
This is available in only two colour options as far as I am aware and I bought this in Ultra Black though I could have opted for Waterproof Black had I have wanted to. The mascara brush is thick and rather long and on the end of a very slightly flexible wand whihc again is rather long. Everytime I pull it out to use it the brush is evenly coated with a slightly glossy black colour which looks rather thick but moist, it has no scent to it really either just a slight cosmetic smell that doesn't linger anyway once its applied.
This is rather easy to apply although initially I was slightly worried about the size and the thickness of the brush but I needn't of worried about this as it is easy to apply with a steady hand and doesn't take a lot of doing at all and it evenly coats my eyelashes, dries rather quickly, doesn't feel sticky or heavy and stays put all day long and night!
I can't say that this volumises my eyelashes by 10 times but it does define them and separate them so they don't look clumpy, the black really is black with a slight to it gloss and they do appear longer and a bit more volumised and I can sort of curl my eyelashes up to and get a good curve without having to use eyelash curlers. I can wear this for hours without it agitating my sensitive eyes, it doesn't flake or smudge unless I really my rub my eyes and although it isn't waterproof it can take a tear or two and I find this great for day to night time use. It removes easily with my usual make up routine when I want it to and all in all although it doesn't massively volumise my eyelashes it does a bit!
Thumbs up for this and its readily available in Boots, Superdrug and a whole array of places, this is even available from Amazon!

Needed a mascara I could wear when swimming so I bought this in the black waterproof version. Was in the pool for half an hour and touched under my eyes and it had flaked! My mate was laughing at how I now looked! Rubbed it off from under my eyes and by the time I was out of the pool there was nothing left on my lashes at all.
I've always struggled to find a mascara that won't run down my face after an hour of wearing it, or flake off and leave little black bits all over my face. I was using ones that cost nearly £10 then came across this for £2.99 in boots.
I used this for the first time at the beginning of the year when I needed a new mascara. I had about £5 in my purse and didn't want to use all of it and was getting paid a few days after. So I popped into boots and tried to find something cheap I could use until I got paid. I thought for £2.99 it was going to be terrible and I would have to check my eyes all day to make sure I didn't look like a panda.
When I opened it I was very surprised to find it wasn't too wet. The applicator is nice and big so you can cover more eye lashes at once and not over do it by applying it over and over making your eyes look clumpy. I had kept a small mirror with me so I could check my eyes out now and again. No-one will ever tell you if you have make up all down your face, so the shame of talking to people then later on looking in the mirror to see you've looked foolish all day is very embarrassing.
I was so pleasantly surprised to find I didn't need to sort my eyes out at all through the day and I had a lovely even spread of mascara on my eye lashes. I Only wear mascara because I look ill if I don't wear something on my eyes. I don't tend to wear any other make up unless I'm going out somewhere special. I don't see the need to make myself look great all the time especially as I'm a mum to a toddler who I can't leave while I go make myself look like Barbie. So for something so cheap at £2.99 to perform a miracle and keep up with top brands is an excellent find!.
I would very much so suggest this to anyone! Just because something is £10 doesn't mean it will do a better job than something else.
I will be keeping my eye out for cheaper branded items in future and this mascara will make a huge difference to my pocket!

I got this mascara for about £4.99 last year (2010) from Superdrug to replace my old 'going out' mascara. I was drawn to the product thanks to its attractive packaging and the promise of adding some volume to my lashes but I was sadly disappointed.
The mascara really does nothing more than a standard mascara does. The 'volumising' brush does make it nice and easy to apply but you have to go over your lashes 2-3 times before you see any results.
The tube has a nice pink and black design and does look very girly.
When applied, the mascara does make your eyes look really nice. I stopped using this mascara for going out make up and started using it daily as part of my normal makeup routine. It made my eyes look nice and wide and open and did make a difference to how my lashes looked, its just a shame that it didn't deliver its 'volumising' effects that were promised.
After a year of using the product, I was quite impressed that the screw lid didn't get all gunked up with dried mascara as so many other mascaras do. I think this is because when you take the brush out of the tube, it is very good at removing the excess mascara from the brush which is handy at preventing clumping.
All in all this is actually a pretty good daily mascara. It applies well and makes your eyes look nice and open and thanks to its attractive bright design its nice and easy to find in your makeup bag but sadly it doesn't live up to its 'volumising' promises.
I would recommend this product to friends as a daily mascara, not a volumising one.
I bought this mascara for £4.99 from my local pharmacy (chemist) at around september 2010. I like to try every product out there so thought that I would give it a whirl. I decided on the blue one (the waterproof one). The name - volume sensation - made it much more appealing but it also increased my expectations, which, unfortunately were not met.
I tried it the next morning. I had to give each eye three lashings as they wasn't getting the 'volumised' effect that I expected. At last they looked more volumised and I went about my day in the usual way, doing what I normally do. When I rubbed my itching bottom lash area there was no smudging so I was impressed with this A LOT!
The problem was that evening...
I knew to use an oil based makeup remover because the mascara was waterproof. Even with the correct remover I still struggled to remove it and found my self taking longer to remove my product thn actually applying it!
I didn't bother using it again and it just got left to rot.
Wouldn't recommend at all, unless you want it to last forever!
This is a review on the collection 2000 volume sensation mascara. I first tried this mascara about a year ago and I still love using it.
I know that the look of the mascara may not be important for many people, but I do like the designs they some of them have on the tubes. The tube of volume sensation I absolutely gorgeous and it is my favourite looking mascara!
The tube is a pink and black colour. The lid is pink and the majority of the actual tube is black, with pink circle, swirls. The pattern of the circles and swirls is pretty and because of the colour I would say that this tube is very girly.
The actual applicator brush, is quite large compared to other mascaras that I have used. This means that some one who isn't used to applying mascara may find using this brush very awkward. The brush when you pull it out of the tube doesn't have clumps of mascara on it. I really like this because having all that excess mascara it just a pain and can if you put all of the product on your eyes it can make them clumpy and all stuck together.
I have tried many mascaras and I do often change what mascaras I use. And because of this I have been disappointed with some of them, but with this mascara I am not. I can notice that my eyelashes do have volume and look visible longer.
But I have to say that the best thing about this mascara is that you do not need to give your eyelashes many coats. I was in a rush one day to go out and I quickly gave my eyelashes a skim over with the brush, but my eyelashes looked the same as if I had of given them around five coats with one of my top mascaras.
Is it worth it?:-
Yes. Quite simply this mascara is defiantly worth buying and this is one of my first choices, when I need a mascara. Also because this mascara is such a good price, it is hard to resist. This mascara is about £4 in most shops and you can buy it in most make-up and beauty shops. Superdrug sell this mascara for £3.99.
I'm usually a maybelline girl, but I received this mascara as a gift and thought I may as well give it a go and see what it was like. If I'd have liked it enough I may have switched to it permanently as its a fair bit cheaper than my usual Maybelline waterproof mascara. Unfortunately, it just wasn't up to scratch and I won't be saving that money in the future!
The design of the bottle is probably the best thing about this mascara. Its black with a pink/purple lid, a nice pattern of interlocking circles and an unusual font for the product name. Its a shame what's inside doesn't really live up to the promise of the outside.
The mascara goes on easily enough, the brush is just a standard shape if a little bigger than most. You do have to wipe off excess mascara on the mouth of the bottle before applying it or you'd have massive big clumps on your lashes. The initial effect of the mascara is good, but nothing special. It obviously made my lashes appear fuller and longer than they did without any mascara but I didn't notice much difference when compared to other brands, even ones that don't claim any volumising effect.
The problem with this mascara though, is what happens after an hour or two. It really doesn't have any staying power and I've found I have to check and re-touch it constantly as it seems to disintegrate or slide down my face! It doesn't cope well with warm weather or rain at all. This mascara actually makes my eyes water a little bit which doesn't help either! Its not a good product for people with sensitive eyes, as if its left on too long or not removed fully at night, it really irritates them and dries them out.
Maybe other people would have a better experience of this product than me, but I can't really recommend it.
I bought this mascara but in the waterproof version, so it's in a blue tube rather than a pink one :) I have tried many different highstreet branded mascaras, from more expensive brands such as benefit and urban decay, right down to the very cheapest from the natural collection at boots. Testing such a wide selection of these products has led me to conclude that a more expensive product doesn't necessarily mean a better one, as the natural collection one was my favourite before i tried this.
Although happy with my old mascara, I like to try out new products, and after looking through the reviews here on dooyoo, i decided this mascara would be a safe bet.
I bought this for just under £5 from boots, the price is very pleasing :) and since i found the product so good i find it is also amazing value for money!!
It promises to give your lashes more volume, not unusual for a mascara claim, what is unusual however is that it actually lives up to its promise, my lashes looked visibly longer and thicker when i used this mascara. I also tested the waterproof factor of the mascara (since i got the waterproof one) and it actually stayed on!! I know this doesn't sound totally amazing :L but i always find that waterproof mascara's rarely live up to this claim, so I thought this was a major benefit!!
I would recommend this product to anyone, in my opinion this is the best mascara I have tried, and the price is so cheap, you might as well give it a try!! It also doesn't irritate my very sensitive eyes which is always a plus!!
This review is NOT for the waterproof version!
I bought this in my local Boots for £4.99 in number 17 Ultra Black.
It comes in a tall pink and black tube with a pink lid.
I needed a reasonable priced mascara for that night out, so as i was on a budget i went to the Collection 2000 section as i know they have good prices. £4.99 i think is a reasonable price and i would recommend this mascara.
With new mascara, i tend to find that for the first week or so of use it can be quite watery and doesnt thicken the lashes, but here i have found one which is just right.
It comes with a big brush which helps to coat the full length of the lashes whilst volumising them and seperating. I would similarise this mascara with Benefit Bad Gal lash which retails for 3 times the price of this, so save your money and get this instead.
I will deff be buying this again when ive run out.
This review is for collection 2000's volume sensation mascara but it's for the waterproof one.
The mascara comes in an attractive, long slender black and blue tube.
It is covered with pretty blue swirley circles and contains 9ml of mascara.
On the side of the tube it states that this product is 100% waterproof mascara for a big night out.
As a fan of collection 2000 products whenever I am in need of a certain type of make-up thats the first section of the make-up isle i'll go to.
When i noticed that my eyelashes were getting on the rather thin looking side, I set out to buy a new mascara that would make them look thicker and fuller.
I have to have waterproof mascara as i work in a very hot environment and do sweat a little bit so i need make-up thats not going to get washed away with a bit of sweat.
So I saw this product sitting on the shelf and decided to buy it was around the three pound margin, which is quite reasonable for mascara.
I have been using the mascara for a few weeks and i'm a bit torn in my opinion.
It does make your lashes look thick and full so i feel like fluttering my eyelashes at everyone i see, but it's not really waterproof.
After an a couple of hours at being at work my friend pointed out that i'd got panda eyes from where the mascara has run in the heat.
I do like this product but I am relucted to wear it at work.
Having pale auburn hair I look as if I don't have any eyelashes & must admit that due to maturing years (I seem to lose more lashes each day!) so a must-have for me has always been mascara. I have tried dozens of different brands with varying results & am always on the look out for a good product with a reasonable price tag.
A couple of weeks ago in my local chemist I spied a dump basket full of goodies including a few Collection Volume Sensation mascaras (black)which had been reduced from £3.49 to £2.09 & as they were sealed I decided to give one a try - I was so impressed I later went back but unfortunately they'd all been sold.
The main thing about the mascara which caught my eye was the size ( 9m - measuring over 5") & the lovely bright coloured tube (as shown in the photo). On closer examination I read that it has a 'super-sized lash-building brush & is 'ultra volumising mascara for a big night out'. I'm not sure tabout the 'big night out' lol but it certainly volumised my remaining eyelashes!
With some mascaras I've noticed that after application my eyes have felt a bit dry & tired but I haven't experienced this when using this product. I found after just 1 application my eyelashes were really well covered, after 2 application I looked as if I'd got loads more lashes & they looked much thicker & I was well happy with the effect.
After undoing the cellophane seal around the top I was surprised to see the size of the brush which is about 1" long & the generous handle allows you to access all the lashes with no danger of poking yourself in the eye.
I did notice a bit of gloopiness on the end of the brush initially but once wiped away none has ever re-appeared. The brush is easy to load & is very easy to apply, gives an even coverage & I've not experienced any clogging in my lashes. It dries quickly so you can re-apply almost straightaway & I've found it doesn't smudge easily. I've noticed that some mascaras smell bad (crazy but true I'm afraid) but this one doesn't have any fragrance which is good.
- nicely packaged.
- good long handle & generous-sized brush.
- great price compared to many.
- gives good coverage & volumises lashes as stated.
- would recommend giving this a try.
I have used this mascara for the last year, and I have yet to find any major faults in it.
Starting off with the price, it's cheap - I paid around £4 for my one. The packaging is nice and bright, being a nice purpley-pink and bright cerulean blue for the waterproof one. It's not as classy as some of the more upmarket brands and aimed at a younger generation maybe but does it really matter? At the end of the day - it's a mascara, not a sports car!
The brush is very big and full, not one of those spindly ones that give you spiders eyes! It's very easy to load up, although I do find that there's a large clump of mascara on the end of the brush which needs to be rubbed off before you use it, otherwise it goes everywhere. The mascara goes on really nicely, it occasionally clumps a little bit if you haven't put the mascara on the brush properly. However this is normally sorted out quickly by a little bit of wiggling with a dry brush.
The effect it gives your lashes is to seperate, elongate and *slightly* curl. You need an eyelash curler to make them curl properly, but I find it's not a massive problem even though I have really long lashes. Like with most mascaras, if you keep applying and applying it gives your lashes a bit of a drag queen look! Less is definitely more when it comes to this mascara and brush.
I've had my tube of Collection 2000 Volume Sensation Mascara for nearly 8 months now (it's nearly finished so I'll need to get another soon( and used it pretty much daily in that time. I'm definitely going to get another one to replace it with - It's good for my student budget (students, don't forget 10% off with a valid NUS card at Superdrug for that little extra) and quite simply, it works! I've tried lots of other more expensive and more cheap mascaras and this seems to be the best for my lashes so I'll be sticking with it.
Obviously, like all things, not every persons lashes are the same and so if you have short lashes I imagine this won't work as well, or if your lashes are quite far apart it will just show up the gaps between them (this occasionally happens with me and I haven't found a way to correct it yet) or make them look over worked.
I have recently (yesterday!) purchased the waterproof version of this mascara and I am very impressed again, it is just like it's 'normal' counterpart but it seems to stay on for longer. I have yet to test it with water though, I will update when I have.
