      Advantages

      Disadvantages

This lightweight foundation is perfect for anyone looking for a light coverage breathable foundation

I was gutted when Chanel discontinued their Teint Innocence foundation. When I went to purchase it I was told that it had been replaced with Vitalumiere Aqua a similar product. The product is a lot lighter and thinner than Teint Innocence. At first use I thought the foundation was quite watery (you need to shake the product well before use as the water seperates) but now I love this product and it has become a staple item in my make up bag. If you want something with a heavy coverage this product is not for you. I mainly use foundation for a bit of colour and evening out my skin tone rather than coverage and this product is perfect for that, it gives you a nice glow and even skin tone.

The foundation comes in 9 different shades. I do use a darker shade as I wear fake tan on my body and like my foundation to give me a bit of colour and as the product is so light and blends so easily it works well. The texture of the foundation is very light and feels moisturising to the skin almost like wearing a tinted moisturiser. It is easy to blend using fingers, brush or sponge - I have used all methods and never had any patchyness or streaking.

The foundation does come with a heavy price tag of £32 and I would not say you get much foundation in the bottle. I find a lot of Chanel products have more packaging than product but I have come back to this product time and time again!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Chanel has done it again!

I don't usually splurge out on designer foundations - I'd much rather spend it on the handbag or perfume alternative! When wanting a new foundation I usually pop down to Boots or Superdrug and choose from the selection provided. It wasn't until recently when a friend of mine, who is a make up artist was doing my make up for me and used the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation. When I saw the results of how it made my skin look I just HAD to have one of my own! Be prepared for the large price tag as Chanel is one of the top designers in the world it doesn't come cheap - at £32 for 30mls of product.

Having said that you are not just paying for the name, as this foundation has a multitude of attributes that will leave your skin gleaming from ear to ear! It is a 'new generation texture' which means that nothing like it has been done before as it will give your skin an extraordinary, unparalleled 'sensory experience' meaning that all your senses will come alive after a sweeping of this to reveal and unique make up look. It claims to be a 'rapid and easy application' so you can apply your make up without thinking about it! I know I've done that a few times of a early morning, gone into day light and looked more like Coco the Clown that Coco Chanel!

So what justifies the hefty high end price you may ask? Well the soft and sleek ultra-fine fluid texture is described as a 'real surprise' because although it is very delicate and light it gives you the most wonderful 'second skin' to perfect a flawless and seamless result. Your complexion is said to appear 'amazingly even, fresh and energized' - I could not wait to try this foundation again any longer and have skin that Chanel, quite over the top describe as 'glowing with seemingly nude beauty, as if glowing from within!' The formula also has a UVB sun filter and a mineral sunscreen that protects the skin from harmful sun rays and also the suns ageing effect.

After reading that from my research I could not wait any longer and when pay day came around I eagerly went to Selfridges to pick out the perfect colour. Usually with foundations there are about 6 to 8 different shades with names that you can have a guess at what they are going to be. Not with Chanel. They decide to do things differently and use a number system. There are 9 shades available (shown below) the main ones are 10, 20, 30, 40 & 50 all entitled beige (however I have given a description of the shades next to them as an extra helping hint.) Then you have the in-between shades that are 12, 21, 22 and 32 entitled Beige Rose and Ocre. It does sound very confusing but I have tried my best to explain it simply below. If you are still confused then I would go to your local department store like I did and get matched to the perfect shade for you.

10 Beige - The lightest shade that Chanel currently do, it's a very pale golden hue with faint yellow undertones. Perfect for anyone with a fair complexion - it doesn't come out the dreaded orange or pink, it's more of a your skin but better approach.

12 Beige Rose - One of the middle shades between 10 and 20. This is still quite a light shade and is suitable for fair skin tones however it has pink undertones, so only purchase this one if it suits your skins colouring due to the faint pinkness.

20 Beige - A slightly more warmer light shade that would suit anyone who is fair and seeking some more colour or anyone with a tanned complexion who doesn't want to be orange! It's the perfect tan colour if you ask me.

21 Beige Ochre - This shade is quite a weird one in my opinion. The definition of Ochre is actually a 'orange-yellow based colour' and that is exactly what this shade is - I think it may be to use as a highlighter or concealer perhaps but I decided against this shade all over my face as I don't want to resemble the Simpsons!

22 Beige Rose - Another of the middle shades, between 20 and 30. It's almost like a pale golden tan with pink undertones once more. I have come to realise that the 'Rose' versions have pinkness in them.

30 Beige - A gorgeous medium shade tanned colour. I really love this colour and if I could pull it off I would purchase it every time as it makes you look so healthy a literally glowing.

32 Beige Rose - Another one of the pink tones medium shade between 30 and 40, it's got a lovely golden tan to it but also a slight pinky red undertone so you look glowing and blushing.

40 Beige - One of the darker shades of the Chanel range, with golden and very slight bronzed undertones, perfect for anyone with a tanned complexion.

50 Beige - There is no medium shade between 40 and 50, however 50 is the darkest shade of the range with bronzed undertones for darker skin tones.

I find the shades quite confusing to work out, so my advice would be to go and get yourself matched at a Chanel counter as it is a lot of money to waste on the wrong shade because you cannot refund make up even if you haven't opened it!

So now on with the proper review and my thoughts. The packaging is very simple and classic of Chanel encased in a rectangular glass bottle with a black glossy, shiny lid with the world famous Chanel 'C's logo' on the top. The bottle is skin toned coloured which makes it easier to figure out the annoying shades! Around the bottle in white writing are the ingredients and the name. Once you take off the stylish and sleek lid you notice that there is no pump, I was a little bit disappointed at this, for such a high price I was expecting easy access to the product. But crisis averted I have found that if you pour out a very, very small amount - perhaps only a 5 pence piece amount onto the back of your hand or a make up palette it works just as well as a pump would do.

One thing I love is the smell, its 'crystalline fragrance' is very fresh and inviting without being to sickly sweet or overpowering. When your applying the foundation you get this waft of beautiful fragrance which is always a delight! I apply mine with a foundation brush as I find it gives the best flawless results, however you can apply any way you feel comfortable to. A little does go a long way, so I can justify paying over £30 for it. the cream and silk texture is so wonderful that I could apply it all day and never get over the way it covers all imperfection with one sweep of the brush and makes my skin look airbrushed in real life! Since wearing this foundation I have found that my skin is much more nourished even when I take the foundation off! I have received a lot of compliments from people wondering what I've done when I tell them about the wonderful Chanel they think I am mad to pay that much for 'just a foundation' but it is not just a make up item, it's a make up essential!

I don't use this as my everyday foundation (although you could as its light enough) as I don't want to waste it just wearing it to the shops or school, but when I go out I reach for my Chanel as its my million dollar feeling product. I dust a very small amount of powder over the top to help it stay in place but not too much as I don't want to take the desired flawless second skin effect away.

The coverage is medium but with a bit of building you could have it up to full and I also find I don't have to wear concealer under it as it conceals everything itself! This is a wonderful foundation and I absolutely love it! you can purchase at Selfridges, Harrods, Debenhams, and any counters that sell Chanel. You can also purchase online, but if it is your first time buying I would suggest going to the shop in person to pick the perfect shade for you as you don't want to waste money.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Really good if you only need light coverage

This foundation is the best I've ever tried, this is possibly not too surprising as I've only tried high street brands before (such as Rimmel, No7 etc) and had been put off trying high end make up for two main reasons:
        1. The price
        2. The scary sales assistants circling like sharks
However I decided I am a grown woman and I can go and talk to these glamorous women, so off I popped to boots and quickly located the Chanel counter.
Why Chanel? The decision was simply due to the fact I like the look of the logo, nothing else, I had no recommendations to go on. I explained what it was I was looking for, light coverage just for my problem areas - mainly colourless cheeks - and also explained I was no make up whizz and wanted something easy to apply and easy to wear as I have a tendency towards dry skin or very oily skin depending on what I do with it. The sales assistant was lovely and guided me to this product and explained that as it was water based it was very light and easy to glide on, she said it was the kind of make up women can wear to weddings for a professional finish yet also whack on after giving birth to look more perky in their 'new baby' pictures. After trying it myself at home I can see what she meant, it is really easy to put on and gives a very nice professional finish but most importantly, it looks very natural on and I'm convinced no one can tell I'm wearing foundation when I do, however I don't wear full face, I have it on my cheeks and nose area only. They advertise it as giving a 'second skin' result and I have to say, in my opinion they are right and it dries quickly and gives a lovely silky feel finish.
I originally planned to wear this only for special occasions but I have to confess I have fallen in love with it and wear it a few times a week so I can see this becomming an expensive habit as for £32 for just 30ml it is super expensive.
Another plus of this product is the smell, foundations tend to have a strong smell that can only be described as a 'foundation smell' this however smells more like a nice moisturiser, slightly perfumed smell but in no way overpowering, I feel that it smells expensive too and thus I feel more expensive when wearing it if you know what I mean.
Before you use this you must remember to shake the bottle hard though as with it being water based the water seems to separate and if you dont shake it you just squeeze out a little beige water - yuk - so make sure you shake it well.
Personally I only need a small squeeze but you can build it up, it is only intended to be light make up though and wont cover up major problems so a good concealer is also a must with this product and I wouldn't recommend this if you do need to cover a lot as it is more like a tinted moisturiser in terms of coverage.
All in all, if you are wanting to try a good high end, light covering foundation this is the way to go.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        It's amazing

I decided to purchase Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation following several excellent recommendations from people I trust when it comes to this sort of thing. Although not cheap, I decided to buy it as a birthday treat for myself last year and have been using it ever since.

Vitalumiere Aqua is a water based foundation designed to feel ultra-light on the skin. It contains SPF15 (better than nothing I suppose) and Chanel say it is so easy to apply you can do it without thinking.

The foundation comes in nine different shades. I have B10 Beige - Pastel which I think is the lightest of the colours available. I'm sure anyone who is very pale will tell you that it can be a chore finding a natural looking, non-orangey foundation to suit pale skin, but Chanel have managed it and this one blends to perfection.

The packaging of the foundation is sleek, simple and elegant as you would expect from Chanel. Housed in a black and gold box, the bottle is a flesh tone (not clear as I first assumed) and has a twist off black lid which opens to reveal a small nozzle.

The first thing you need to know about using this product is that you MUST shake the bottle before use. I learned this the hard way, which was my own fault for not reading the box. As this is water based it separates a bit in the bottle, so if you don't shake it you will end up with a trickle of flesh toned water instead of foundation.

The foundation itself has a very mild yet pleasant scent and is a nice consistency whereby it feels light, yet it's not runny or messy to apply. Chanel weren't kidding when they said you could apply without thinking, this is genuinely the easiest foundation I've ever applied. It rubs into the skin extremely easily, and blends so well that it doesn't leave any tidemarks or orangey patches.

The look Vitalumiere Aqua gives is brilliant and perfect for me. It gives light coverage - enough to even out my skin tone, brighten it up and make it look dewy and radiant. Chanel say it's like your skin has been lit up from within and cheesy though that may sound, I would have to agree. One thing I would say is that if you are looking for a foundation to cover spots, blemishes or other imperfections, then this one is probably not ideal. Whilst it will mute the redness on my cheeks, it's too light to cover the dark circles under my eyes and when I have had spots, they have still been visible with this product, so it's really only for those looking for light coverage.

The staying power of the foundation is fantastic; it usually lasts all day, which is perfect as I do tend to save it for special occasions. I have used on its own and with a primer and I find it lasts long and stays looking good either way. Another thing I absolutely love about it, is that it feels amazingly light on the skin so I am not constantly conscious that I am wearing it.

I suppose the main downside of this product is the price. A 30ml bottle retails at £32 and is available from places like Boots, John Lewis and Debenhams. As with all high end make-up it's important to buy from an authorised retailer as there are fakes around. Each bottle should be used within 12 months of opening.

Overall I am extremely pleased with this product and despite the price tag it is one I will buy again. It leaves my skin looking the best it has ever looked, the colour is natural and wearing it boosts my confidence. Thoroughly recommended by me.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          A good natural finish foundation.

I am very careful when it comes to my skin as I believe good skin is a million times better than any expensive makeup. I always love to try new foundations, and I have tried a ton. I always like very natural finish and after hearing lots of raves about this foundation, I took the splurge and purchased this one.

Chanel foundations have always been great. My mom uses the Lift Lumiere one and she loves it a lot. At £31 for 30ml, it is not cheap but I do tend to spend more on foundations as it sticks directly to my skin. Debenhams and House of Fraser sometimes do 10% offers so you can get it a lil cheaper. Boots do have coupon code and Bonus Advantage Card points as well so look out for that.

There are only 6 shades available so if you are either very pale or very dark, this won't be for you (such a shame!)
The bottle is 30ml as most other foundations are. It doesn't have as fancy packaging as other Chanel foundations since it comes in a plastic bottle but nevermind that. It is more travel-friendly anyway.

The consistency is quite liquidy (water-based) so you need to give it a good shake beforehand. It is claimed to be a lightweight liquid foundation that acts as a second skin, giving an illuminated complexion. It also has a mineral based spf 15 sunscreen protection.

I applied it with my hand, but apparently, you can apply it with brushes to give it a more airbrushed finish.
It goes on nicely, easy to blend and a little goes a long way. It has a semi-matte satin finish, which I don't quite like since I would love a more dewy finish. It leaves a very natural, lightweight finish but certainly not second-skin like. I still can feel like I am wearing foundation. It evens out my skin well and gives good light coverage. I normally only use one drop as I don't need lots of foundation but you can build it up to light-medium coverage. If you have problems with your skin then you would need a good concealer as it doesn't cover all of your blemishes.

Being I have combination skin with fairly oily T-zone, I find that it doesn't solve my probs with oiliness, but it doesn't make it worse. You may need a good primer or oil-control base to go with it. Another prob I have is large pores and I find that it covers my pore just a little bit so powder really helps. Moreover, I personally find the formula can be a bit drying so hydrate your skin well beforehand. I also have sensitive skin, and lots of foundations broke me out in the past but I don't have a single prob with this one.

All in all, it is very good as an every-day foundation. Lightweight, natural-looking and the colour is a good match for my skin. I have tried lots of liquid foundations before and this is the first one that I actually stick to cause I quite like the finish it gives. It is worth getting a sample to try out before committing to buying it as it is fairly expensive.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

If you want perfect skin go and buy!

          This foundation is pure bliss!
As an avid wearer of heavy foundations such as mac studio finish and Estée launders double wear I decided it was time for a change a I was sick of that heavy made up foundation look. I wanted something that would give me a decent amount of coverage enough to even out my skin tone but not look like I was wearing a ton of makeup and I've found it!
The best way I can describe the finish is basically that it looks like your skin but better!
The smell of the foundation is just divine, it reminds me of sun cream but just really clean and fresh !
I don't recommend applying this with your fingers as I have found the best brush to use is a stippling brush (I use the real techniques one)
As far as wearability goes this is pretty standard and isn't unfortunately going to take you right through from daywear to dancing all night, you would definitely need to reapply. The finish is quite Matt rather than dewy but doesn't look unnatural.

So yeah basically this foundation is definitely holy grail status for me but one thing I would say is that it is water based so don't forget to shake it! The bottle looks quite small but it is 30ml which is the same as most foundations.
The only main con of this is the price which is pretty expensive at 31 pound. Definitely worth it though.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            An all round great foundation

One of the greatest dilemmas for women is finding that perfect foundation. I have been wary of premium makeup brands in the past, and thoughy of them as sucking consumers in by their name and fancy packaging. I actually stumbled across this product when I got a free sample in a fashion magazine. It wasn't the right shade, but I really liked the product(won't give too much away yet!)

I bought the foundation from debenhams for £31.00. Not a cheap foundation, but to be fair a foundation has a life of up to a year and so £31.00 is a really good bargain.(its how I convinced myself to buy it). There are only six shades available. This can be seen as a positive or as a negative. Picking the right shade is the most irritating decision and only having six options makes life a lot more easier. If you don't have pale-medium tone skin, which most of these colours are or want a true match, then you are limited. I chose beige-tendre with assistance from the beauty counter assistant at Debenhams(highly recommended).

The bottle itself is the tiniest foundatin I have bought. I expressed my concerns to the beauty counter assistant, but she assured me you only need three squirts to cover the whole face and it lasts ages. The bottle is 30ml and the width of my palm. It comes in a plastic cuboid bottle, unlike the other foundations in the chanel range, which come in glass bottles. The bottle is perfect clutch bag carrying size. I have taken it out with me many times. The lid is a screw twist meaning that the top won't pop off in your make up bag.

Chanel claim this foundation is ' a new generation texture. An unprecedented sensory experience.' They really know how to hype it up don't they. There is a lot of waffle in the description, but essentially it is a lightweight liquid foundation that acts as a second skin, giving an illuminated complexion. It also has a mineral based spf 15 sunscreen protection. I have oily/ combination skin and find heavy coverage foundation too greasy on skin.

To apply you can use a sponge, brush or your fingers. I find using my fingers the quickest, easiest and best way to apply the foundation. I have tried using a brush but it is not as effective. The foundation disappears into the brush and so requires you to use more foundation than needed. The same problem occurs from using a sponge. The foundation gets soaked up into the sponge, probably because the foundation is water based. The bottle needs shaking before use, to allow the water to mix with the foundation. All this talk of water is probably baffling, but basically the foundation has water (or 'aqua'), which i'm guessing allows the easy application.

I usually squirt the foundation onto my fingers and apply to skin. Depending on the coverage I need, I use between two-four squirts. The liquid easily blends into the skin due to its lightweight nature. It provides excellent coverage for a lightweight foundation. My skin looks dewy, smooth and soft. My friends think I am not wearing any foundation on days when I wear foundation alone, due to the foundation acting like a second skin. It lasts well and I don't need to re apply on a 9-5 regular day. The counter assistant wasn't lying when she said the bottle lasts long. I have had this bottle for almost a year and i've got enough left for atleast another 6 months. Though this defies the supposed shelf life of a year for foundation :/

I am really impressed with this foundation. Impressed is an understatement, I absolutely love it! I think I have found the perfect foundation for my skin and I don't feel the need to change to a different brand. I would recommend this foundation and it is well worth every penny.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A great foundation, i'd buy it again

This foundation from Chanel is one that I just have to compliment. It's a liquid foundation that is easily applied - either using your fingers or a make up brush. It can also be applied using a makeup sponge but I don't use them as much as I found it absorbs quite a lot of the foundation.

The foundation itself is a perfect shade - well it is for my skin anyway.. and there are a few other shades available which you can always test yourself before you buy from Boots makeup counter - they may also be available elsewhere such as Debenhams but mine was from Boots. I found the foundation to blend in really well to my skin and not look overly noticable when applied, which is what I mainly wanted.. A light foundation that would even out my skin tone and it does that really well I found. It's also really soft when applied and feels great on your skin.

If your using your fingers to apply it, once you wash your hands afterwards it's easily washed off and doesn't leave behind a 'greasy' feel.

The bottle states that the foundation contains SPF 15 and is a smoothing fluid makeup. The bottle contains 30ml of foundation, which lasts me quite a good amount of time as i've found i've not needed to apply too much to get the desired look. The foundation comes out via a pump which is easily controlled and does not squirt out too much, which is desirable as it's quite pricey you do not want to be wasting it.

The main thing: The price. It's currently priced at £31 from the Boots website.. and i'm sure it's the same price in store aswel. I would go into the store and look at the tester rather than buying online as you would be able to tell if it's for you or not. I would also look for discounts as sometimes if you have a Boots card there are at times vouchers available on Chanel products.

The foundation bottle is subtle in design, it just contains white text on a glass bottle and the Chanel brand is easily spotted on the bottom of the bottle.

I would consider this foundation if you want to apply it quickly and easily.. and although it costs £31 - I found it to last quite a long time which makes it worth the money, and it felt really good on my skin compared to previous foundations.. but as there are cheaper foundations out there I will give the product 4/5 stars.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

A beautiful foundation which is light and makes skin soft to the touch.

I had Chanel foundations recommended to me by a friend who uses them avidly and since I was on the look out for a really good foundation I thought I would investigate! Chanel offer a few different foundations, however the Vitalumiere Aqua appealed to me as it is a very light foundation which is said to give good coverage without being heavy.

As you can see from the picture above, the product packaging design is very sleek, I find this bottle fits into the palm of my hand perfectly and it just feels very chic! Now I realise that a product doesn't win purely based on packaging, but it helps! The bottle holds 30mls of foundation and none of the product ever leaks out due to the heavy duty plastic screwtop lid, which clicks into place to show it is fully sealed. The foundation is dispensed through a small pipet type hole so you won't end up pouring too much out as I have with other foundations in the past!

The foundation is described by Chanel as being 'ultra light and skin perfecting' which I would mainly agree with. The foundation consistency is a thin liquid which is easy to apply either with fingers or a foundation brush. I would hesitate to use a sponge with this foundation however as I think a lot of the product would soak into the sponge due to how thin the liquid is. I find that this product applies almost like a moisturiser, it blends in well and doesn't cause you to have to pull or tug at your skin in an effort to rub it in! The main thing to note with this product is that you must shake the bottle thoroughly before each use as the product seperates and you will end up getting a very watery substance coming out otherwise!

Another selling point for me is that I find after about thirty seconds my skin begins to feel like velvet which I love. As far as coverage goes, I would say this a medium coverage foundation. It evens out my skin tone and brightens my complexion, however it will not completly cover all spots so you will need to use either a concealer or a second layer of foundation. Luckily this foundation is builadable and doesn't become cakey after applying a second layer.

The one downside of this product is the price, currently retailing for around £31 in Boots and at Chanel counters. I think that this is somewhat offset by the fact you only need a pea size amount fo product to cover your face, so it won't run out too quickly, but this is still a very high priced foundation and I would definitely say you should check it out at a counter to make sure you love it as much as I do before purchasing! There are also only six shades I believe so it is worth checking they have one which perfectly matches you and unfortunately for the very pale amongst us it doesn't really cater too well!

Overall I will give this 4/5 as I am in love with it, but due to price and colour range I know it is not a truly accesible foundation!
