A great 'wave swept bronzer' to make you look like you've been sweeping in the waves!

I've started to really like blushers-come-bronzers as they save me from having to wear both and caking my face up as well as my poor pores! I had been using drug store ones but they were causing my skin to dry out and even break out so I decided it was time to treat my skin to a designer alternative. I don't usually spend a lot out on blushers or bronzers as I only really wear them during the summer months, but I figured by getting a high end one it would benefit my skin and also last. After looking at a few different designers I decided on Classic Chanel and chose the Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Powder. Chanel claim that this bronzer gently illuminates and delivers a naturally gorgeous bronze glow that 'never looks dull or flat.' It has an oil free formula so if you are prone to oily skin then fear not when choosing this product! Although it is described as a bronzer, I feel that the shades have a touch of blusher mixed in with them as they are not just one block bronzed shade. This is something I like as it is an added bonus and a bit of a two in one! The packaging, like all Chanel products is exquisite and elegant with a black cardboard box with a gold strip at the bottom with the brand name on the front and the ingredients and information on the product displayed on the back, it looks a little like the Gucci Guilty perfume box. Once you open the box you are presented with the sophisticated, chic and beautiful compact - it's a shiny, glossy, black, rectangular box compact with the classic Chanel symbol on the top. When you open the compact up you are presented with a mirror - something I love because it aids easy application especially when you are on the go. On the other side of the compact it is divided into two - one being the bronzer and the other being a little compartment containing a brush. The brush is black and glossy just like the case with the Chanel symbol, the bristles are so soft and made from natural synthetics. I love how they are arranged in a straight line rather than a circle as it helps you to create and sculpt cheekbones. There are 4 shades available in this range. They are: 61 Desert Corail: This shade is a very peachy pink with almost some coral properties running through the bronzer. Its not essentially a brown bronzer but it does have a very light brown hue to it. I would say this would suit fair complexions that usually wear coral toned blushers. 62 Terre Epice: This bronzer is a slightly darker light brown with a lot of peach toned pink running through. Its very similar to shade 61 but with a darker hue and a lot more coral. I would say this would suit medium skin tones as it has a lot of darker tones. 63 Terre Ambre: This bronzer is a gorgeous colour as it has a golden brown base mixed with a peachy pink undertone, when mixed together it creates a perfect shade! I would say anyone could get away with this shade if you apply it lightly and rightly. 64 Desert Bronze: This is the darkest shade of bronzer in the range as it has a bronzed brown base with a lot of golden and almost burgundy undertones that are teamed with a light rouge blush. I love this shade and if it wasn't too dark for me I would definitely purchase it! I chose the lightest shade which was 61 Desert Corail, one thing I really love about this product is the way it is presented in the pan, rather than just being flat it is in the form of 'wave swept sand' just like on a beach, I find this helps when picking up the product and swirling my brush over it. The shade really suited me and I loved how it brightened up my skin instantly without looking like I was wearing a tonne of bronzer and a tonne of blusher. I apply this after my foundation using the brush it comes with as I find it is the perfect size to pick up just enough product and the bristles are so soft it feels so nice on my skin and is very easy to blend. I apply to my cheeks and take it up to my temples. I have been using this product for a few weeks now and have got so many compliments and people asking me if I have been away - I hope they are referring to a holiday and are not trying to say I look like a criminal! Being Chanel, a designer brand, you can imagine that this is not going to be cheap at £34. With a lot of high end products you are just paying for the name but this is not the case as all four shades have a two in one colour block that adds a natural, radiant glow to your skin and also to your head! It lasts for ages and you don't even need to set it with powder! I really would recommend this as a treat for you and also your skin. You can purchase Chanel at Boots or Boots.com, as well as the Chanel website and all good online make up sites that stock designer brands. As well as all department stores that have a Chanel counter.

Perfect bronzer for range of skin types!

This compact doesn't just come in a beautiful slick black little case but comes with its own pretty little black velvet bag so that you can keep it in your handbag without scuffing or scratching the case. The case contains with product and a decent sized brush, though I would reccommend using a proper stubby bronzer brush for broader and subtler application aroud your face. The bronzer powder smells really nice and glides on very smoothly and also lasts for ages without the need for reapplication. The best thing about this product though is that it comes in a range of shades, including some much lighter tones than most brands stock in their bronzer ranges. This is perfect for me as a redhead, as wearing too dark a bronzer looks a best fake and at worst competely ridiculous with my skin tone. Inevtiably, with Chanel, this bronzer does come in with a pretty hefty price tag, but then again it does last for ages, so I think in terms of price per use probably works out as less expensive than some cheaper brands.

Chanel bronzer - pricey but worth it if you can afford it!

This summer at duty free, my husband (being in the holiday spirit) gave me free (ish) reign of duty free and said I could get what I want... I'm not sure he should have said this, because he was wincing a bit at the bill when he went to buy the loot I had squirreled into my basket! (bless him, he still paid it), but anyway, one of the products of choice was this uber-posh bronzer by Chanel! Now, I had been on the lookout for a nice bronzer which a) wasn't shimmery, b) would show up nicely on my dark olive skin and c) was by a prestigious make up brand, all of which had up till now been hard to find. I had a mosey around at various makeup brands, and then eventually came to the Chanel counter. I said to the pleasant Chanel lady that I was looking for a nice shimmer-free bronzer, and she showed me a couple of colours which might suit me in their Soleil Tan range. I picked one, and then she proceeded to give me a dusting with her big brush, et voila, I was a sun kissed babe! I can't remember exactly how much the price was, but it was roughly £30 for 11g, which is quite expensive by any means. Luckily husband was in the holiday mood, and therefore I got lucky on this occasion! I think I would under normal circumstances find it hard to justify that amount on one makeup item. This make up product is really luxurious in both its application and its appearance. It comes in a compact which has the bronzer on the left, and a flat brush on the right, and a big mirror in its lid which is really useful! The whole compact is encased in a black velvety pouch, and this is then placed in a posh black and gold cardboard box packaging. The colour I chose was number 64 Desert Bronze, which as I mentioned, shows up well on my skin tone, and it is a reddish brown colour in looks (looks much nicer on than when you look at it!). They had a fair few different colours to choose from so those with lighter skin should have no problem finding something in this range to suit them. They also have shimmer style bronzers if this is more your thing, but I think I just look too glittery and unnatural with shimmery bronzers (before this product, I have been using Bobbi Brown's shimmer brick). The bronzer powder itself does look like desert sands the way that it is shaped, with wavy sand lines running through it, which is a nice touch. The case which the bronzer sits in is a slick shiny Chanel black colour, with the trademark Chanel logo in gold on the top. This case can get a bit grubby, but as its shiny plastic, it's easy enough to wet and wipe if this annoys you. The bottom of the case tells you the shade and product details. The packaging is quite unimaginative, but is unmistakably Chanel glamour, and would look timeless and classy either in your handbag, in your makeup bag or on your dressing table. A shaped plastic slip protects the bronzer from damage, and within this plastic sits the flat brush that comes with the bronzer, which has a shiny black plastic handle with the Chanel logo on it. This brush is really good for targeted bronzing, for example if you want to brush straight down the bridge of your nose for that sun kissed look. The Chanel brush seems to be made of high quality soft bristle, although it is not obvious what kind of material it is made out of. However, I use my own Bobbi Brown blusher brush for putting this product on as I prefer using that. This powder is supposed to be moisturising, so doesn't dry out your skin. I don't often suffer from dry skin anyway, and use a good moisturiser, so I don't have this problem. However, someone with dry skin might benefit from this aspect of the bronzer. I think with any blusher or bronzer, it is easy to apply too much, so be careful in applying this bronzer by applying less rather than more at first, and then building it up a little if you need to. I'm fairly gentle in my application of this bronzer, as I find it's a very good quality product with good pigmentation so you don't need to overdo it. Orange is not a good look, people! All in all, I really like this bronzer, as it makes me look a bit healthy with a nice glow. It has been a godsend at the moment, as I have a stye in my eye and cannot wear eye make up (I know, horror of horrors or what!!!) so I love this as I don't always like to wear lip makeup so it makes me feel a little bit made up at least! My only gripe would be the price of this, as it is quite expensive, but I do feel it is worth the money if you can afford it. I think this would last me a long time and I use it most days, and its not one of those purchases where I buy it and then never use it (that happens A LOT!). A good purchase, thank you hubby!!!
